If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then transfer purchases form your ipod.
Without syncing, click File>Transfer Purchases

try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

HELP! The hard drive on my Macbook died and i lost everything.
A week ago my MacBook died apple were going to see if any data was still on the hard drive, they called today and said that i lost everything. Three years of work gone. I cant believe it.
Just before the Mac died i had put all my music on Apple TV, does anyone know if you can pull all the songs and data back from apple tv.
Does anyone know of a good but cheap company who might be able to recover the data.
Pls let this be a lesson to everyone BACK UP!

A fresh hard drive, im totally gutted :-((If this was a warranty repair then you are out of luck. Under the terms of the warranty if they replaced your defective drive with a new one then the old one becomes their property. If you want it back you will have to pay them or attempt to work out some other arrangement with the but they are not going to just let you borrow it without some security. I would not take that chance either and if it was your business you would not either. Apple has to have the drive to send back to the vendor for credit. How do they know that you will return it?
There are no "cheap recovery services" If you send it off be prepared to spend a lot of money. Drive Savers and the others can do it, but it isn't cheap. I have never checked but have heard that the prices run in to the many thousands of dollars even for small drives.
I guess it depends on how valuable the data is to you. -
The hard drive on my MacBook died and I had it replaced. Now I can't locate my website files and every time I try to open my finder/idisk it looks for a name and password (even reset my apple id as prompted) I keep being told that it's the wrong name or password? Any suggestions out there

Graphic card problem maybe? Since when I have changed the hard drive to my macbook pro and I installed all the new softwares, my mac is very slow and the screen gives crazy pictures,could maybe be the graphic card, does anybody have experienced this?
after a restart it works for a time, but always slow. I went to the Applestore this afternoon and the made a check and said it would be the logicboard and they would have to change it for CHF 600 and it would be ready in 10 - 15 days

I updated the version on my Iphone and didn't sync before ans as a result I lost all my photos, apps, and contacts. I will like to recover the deleted photos as they are very important to me, it's there a way to recover them?
did you ever do a backup. cause if you did say like a year ago. it should still be there and you could at least get the info back until that date.

Is there a way to save the songs from my IPod. I have reinstalled Itunes on the new computer, however I can't seem to reload the songs from the Ipod. Can someone give me a clue on what to do?
The easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

You don't have them on a backup ? If not and you are in a country where you can re-download films, and if they are still in the store (some studios don't allow re-downloading, and films are occasionally removed from the store), then you might be able to re-download them via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes

My old computer died and I lost all my iTunes music.
My old laptop died a while ago and I've just got a new computer. I still have my old itunes ID etc etc, but when intalling itunes again, I need to somehow get my music back as I had a fair amount, and with my laptop beeing really dead including the hardrive, I tierd to get anything off it, or turn it into an external hardrive, but alas, it did not work.
And as I've also had my old ipod stollen with all my old music on, and now I have nothing really, apart from uploading all my old CD's, I'm still missing alot, and have no idea how to get it back, I've looked around the itunes support thing, and it's been no real help.
So if anyone would be ever so kind and help me, I'd be ever so thankful

RobSo I take it you did not back your computer up? When the I Cloud comes out, hopefully soon you can get them from there, but until it does, you may be out of luck with no back up or I pod.

Any music purchased through the iTunes store can be downloaded again for free as long as you are signed in with the Apple ID you used for the original purchase. Any other music you had in iTunes should be easily accessible in your system back up or from the CDs you ripped from originally.

To be honest your post is rambling and difficult to read due to the lack of proper punctuation I only read it part way however...
The first thing to do is a proper backup. Your system has Time Machine built into it, here is the Time Machine Tutorial. Look that over, get yourself an external HD to use as a TM drive and backup properly! This will backup all of OS X however it will NOT backup MS Windows!
If you think your HD is failing then run Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode and if it reports errors you can post them here.

I had toclear the hard drive of my computer and reinstall Windows 7. Now I want to transfer all the music and photos from my iPad back onto my computer. I authorized the computer (it is the ONLY computer authorized on this account - and this is the ONLY account on this iPad). ITunes then downloaded my purchases...or at least it tried - out of the hundreds of tracks I have purchased, it managed one album that I bought over a year ago and NOTHING else. So I tried to Sync - since on older versions of iTunes (that were SO MUCH MORE user friendly) that would do the job -transferring things that were only on the iPad onto the computer and vice versa. It doesn't do that anymore. So I went from my iPad's summary to the Music tab - the box for Music was not checked but when I checked it said the only thing it could do was erase EVERYTHING from my iPad and replace it with what was on my computer (that ONE album). What is going on?
Why hasn't iTunes downloaded my other purchases since I authorized the computer? (there are over 3,000 tracks...not 18)
How can I download my iPad to my computer?-Me again - it also won't upload the few new pictures I have on the computer onto the iPad without deleting all the photos that are already there....

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!
