Background:
I am trying to print vi documentation to html. When using the standard Labview print function, you get by default the control's label in the documentation, not the caption. This is a problem for me because my captions and labels are different because I change the captions for different languages. To get around this, I thought I'd write another vi to print documentation for each vi in an llb directory programatically. But before I'd print the documentation, I'd open up a reference to the vi in the llb, get a refence to the panel, get all control references, and for each control, replace the label text with the caption text. Then print the documentation and c
lose without saving the original vi.
Problem:
For some controls, (when the label text is not the same as the caption text) when I try to read the control caption and write it to the control label, I get the above error and LabView crashes. This is very annoying.
Anybody have any thoghts or suggestions. I will try to narrow down the problem into smaller vi's and post these.
Thanks.

Attached are two vi's. One is language.vi. There is a control on there that has different text for the label and the caption. Now run test.vi and select language.vi. Labview crashes. At least it does for me. If you highlight execution, you will see it crashes when it tries to write the caption to the label. I'm using version 6.1. Thanks for any help.

• "the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in [name of iMovie file] could not be read or written (Error Code 26)

Hi all,
I have an iMovie project in iMovie HD 6.0.3. (Mac OS 10.5.8)
It plays, but I cannot copy the file (including saving it to a flash drive). I get either a message
"the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in [name of
iMovie file] could not be read or written (Error Code 26)" or the
message "A project file is missing. The file [name of the QuickTime
movie inside the project.dv] couldn't be opened and is being skipped."
This happened suddenly, I was able to save a backup version numerous
times while working on the project.
I followed some of Karl Petersen's advise on apple discussions. I opened
the package contents, and everything seems to be there. The source file
(original QuickTime movie) is there and can be opened and played. I
replaced the current project file with the backup in the package
contents, but that did not change anything. I was able to export the
movie timeline into a new project as a single clip, but would like to be
able to copy the current project.
Thanks for any ideas..

• LabVIEW 7.1 reports an application error 'instruction adresses memory at 0x00000000 - ... could not be written' when finishing LabVIEW, even when not running any private code

Hi there,
I have found similar Qs here, but this one is _somehow_ different.
My quite large app (>600 VIs) uses some DLL calls to communicate with medical devices. It runs OK, AFAIK, even when started several times. BUT I get an error message each time I when finishing LabVIEW 7.1 (even when just having loaded the app!!!). The error message states that "The instruction at 0x778cca36 adresses memory at 0x00000000. The process 'written' could not be done on that memory. Click to close the app".
Any clues?
My system: Athlon64 3000+ with 1GB of RAM running W2k German with all availabel SPs, LabVIEW 7.1 English with all support files from the devellopr suite May05 edition. System was set up 2 days ago on a fresh PC. The old system showed the very same behavior.
My opinion is, that simply loading an app and than removing it should not cause such an error??!!
Greetings from Germany!

I can't look at your code because I don't have LV 7.1, but I would recommend searching on the side of the DLL.
Do you have the source for the DLL? Can you be sure that the DLL doesn't somehow have a memory addressing bug? The DLL will be loadsd as soon as the program is loaded AFAIK, so maybe when unloading the DLL an error occurs because something isn't initialised properly. I've never programmed a DLL, so I may be way wrong, but my instinct tells me that the problem will most likely be with the DLL.
Hope this helps
Shane.

Hi,
Regarding the current issue, it may be caused by some third party software conflicting with explorer.exe or it could be a memory conflict with a driver.
Signs of low memory include poor performance, low-memory or out-of-memory notifications, and display problems. I would suggest you to follow the steps provided in these methods and check if
it helps in resolving the issue:
Method 1: Run System Maintenance troubleshooter:
Step 1 : Move your mouse to the right bottom and click on search.
Step 2 : Type Troubleshooting in the search box and click on it
Step 3 : On left pane click “View all” click on the "Run Maintenance task" under the System and Security.
Step 4 : Click on the "Next" in the System Maintenance interface.
Select "Try troubleshooting as an administrator
Method 2:
I would suggest you to run the Memory Diagnostic Tool and check if it helps.
a) Press
Windows key and type "memory".
b) Click "Settings" and then click the result "Diagnose your computer's memory problems".
c) Select the recommended option to run the tool.
Check if the issue still persists. If the issue persists, increase the virtual memory.
Change the size of virtual memory
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
Method 3: I would suggest you to run System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and check if it helps. The System
File Checker tool (SFC.exe) scans for missing or corrupted system files and repairs them.
Run System File checker to see if you have any corrupted system files.
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us
Method 4: If issue persists follow these steps:
I would also suggest you to check if the same issue occur in Safe Mode and check if the issue occurs there as well.
Step 1:
Start your computer in safe mode
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode
Step 2:
Follow the Microsoft KB article to perform clean boot on the computer. A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

If Me.pdfViewFile IsNot Nothing Then
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(2000)

• The instruction at "0x000000019" referenced memory at"0x000000019" . The memory could not be "read".

Hi,
this topic came up several times the last years, so it may not depend on the version of LabVIEW.
We are running LV7.0 (EXE) on WinXP. The application works several hours fine when this error occur:
The instruction at "0x000000019" referenced memory at"0x000000019" . The memory could not be "read".
Yes, we have re-installed the system with latest NiDAQmx driver and so on ..
No, we are not using DLL, CIN or something like this.
What can I do ? My custumer is not amused ...
Every hint is welcome
- Jochen -

I'm not sure what is causing it, but since it happens after several hours it sounds like it might be a "memory leak" where an array allocation or something of that nature is growing, not being properly deallocated, and eventually hitting a memory boundary. Could you give us a little more detail what you are doing, also there are somethings that have caused that type of problems in the past. A search of previous posting, etc. for memory leak produces a number of threads. Also to look for this one might start the program and note the amount of memory LabVIEW is taking using the "Task Manager" in Windows. Then looking at the numbers a while later (an hour or so) should tell you pretty quickly if this is an issue.

When I try to use the vanishing point tool in photoshop cs4, I get all the way through the process of the vanishing point and when I click ok to apply photoshop crashes and I get the following error message.
The instruction at 0x7788869b referenced memory at 0x00000050. The memory could not be read
I have tried updating my NVIDIA vid card drivers but this didn't help...can anybody help me with this?
M.

Pretty much standard advice applies...
Things to try:
1. Try disabling OpenGL drawing (closing and reopening Photoshop afterward to test), and update your video drivers from the web site of the maker of your video card.
2. Reset Photoshop preferences to defaults by pressing and holding Control-Shift-Alt immediately after starting Photoshop, then confirming the deletion.
3. Ferret out any non-standard fonts that may be corrupted or incompatible Photoshop.
4. Check your system for malware.
5. Check your Windows system integrity (e.g., SFC /VERIFYONLY and SFC /SCANNOW commands).
6. Reinstall Photoshop and make sure it's up to the latest patch level.

When viewing a PDF file in a browser using Adobe Reader v9.0 I received - The instruction at "0x0700609c" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory could not be read.
This occured in Google Crome after viewing a pdf file and then closing the Crome application. I was also able to reproduce this in a .NET application using the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser control and loading PDF files in the browser control.
The error does not occur every time but can be reproduced in my .NET application fairly easily by loading several pdf files quickly then closing the application.
This error does not occur when using Adobe Reader v8.

I did try resetting Firefox, but no difference so I restored it to a previous session as the Reset eliminated all of my history, bookmarks, etc.

Hello driadmin, go for a clean re-install, this means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page (full installer) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default on Windows:
*C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
*C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u> See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. <!-- Starting in Firefox 31, the Firefox uninstaller no longer lets you remove user profile data.Ref: Bug 432017 and https://support.mozilla.org/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer/discuss/5279 [Fx31] Windows uninstaller will no longer offer the option to remove personal data -->
Thank you.

Lyall,
I have seen this before, a long time ago (several years), and I cannot
remember how/if we resolved it.
If this is an impotant issue to you, I suggest that you open a case with
BEA support.
Regards,
Peter.

I see other posts getting replies.
This is a rather important issue, I have seen another post with a similar problem.
While not being a show-stopper it certainly raises concerns.
The application works ok until the application exits (in both development and
executable form)
Apparently this did not happen with Tux 7.1
It does with 8, I do not have 7.1 so I have no workaround.
