I am not able to get my iPhone 3GS to sync any longer. Has not been a problem until upgrade to iTunes 8.2.1. Running system 10.5.8
iPhone software 3.0.1
get the same issue when I try and sync my iPod Classic 80Gig
Just started happening, got to be something easy that I am missing or has changed?

Same problem here. Was syncing my iPhone 3GS while updating to new iTunes 8.2.1 when suddenly the sync stopped and I can no longer connect my iPhone. A screen popped up stating I needed to run MobileMe first but that requires me to give my CC info and if I dont cancel in 60 days they charge you $99 for the year!!! W T F Apple???

Upgraded my iPhone 3G to 3.0. All went smoothly and everything seems to be working fine. Only issue was that my music had disappeared. Went on to resync it but iTunes shows that the music is still there - but I cannot do anything with it: cannot add to it, cannot delete it, etc. Suspect files are fine but library is corrupt. My entire library is now held on my iPad and I wish to have it in iTunes so I can sync my iPhone to it as well. Help?

Eever sincd June 29th I have gotten the following error message when trying to sync my ipod
"The iTunes library file cannot be saved an unknown error occured (-50)' and the library does not update. I have re-installed (repaired) iTunes. It doesn't help.
Any advice. I subscrive to a lot of podcasts and i can't update anything.

Just letting you know that I have also had that problem since downloading that "update" for itunes.
All of my new music that I have tried to transfer from my E-music file will not be accepted. error -50 keeps popping up.
I have seen a few others post this same question, but I have been unable to find an answer for it.
If anyone has come across what this problem is, please help.

Note: Close iTunes completely before doing any of this.
After getting this error, I found a bunch of Temp files in the same folder as my iTunes library. The thing that stuck me as odd about this was that there were 4-5 of them labeled "Temp File.xml", "Temp File2.xml", etc. and when I tried to select any of them, the selected file(s) would mysteriously disappear. I ended up Selecting everything except the Temp File.xml files, and moving it elsewhere (I actually just put in a new folder in the parent folder).
I then deleted/"Move to Trash"ed the folder that used to contain my Library, and renamed the new folder to have the same name as the old folder.
Then I clicked on the iTunes icon (hold down option/alt from before you click, until the "choose library" dialog appears), and chose my old iTunes Library. This re-linked my old library and restored it to how it was before error (-48) started rearing its ugly head.
(Windows users, when you re-open iTunes to link your library back in... you double click the icon, then immediately press-and-hold "shift" until the dialog appears)

I have a similar problem. After having a lot of drama with backups freezing and not completing I had to click on the 'x' to procede with any sync's. Now that 3.0.1 came out I decided to update when the popup came up saying would you like to update.
I went ahead, it downloaded the update then it couldn't install it and came up with errors. then my iPhone displayed the USB cable and the iTunes logo on the screen, now it won't do anything and iTunes won't recognise it.
I've tried to reset it, and reset my computer but nothing works. I am not uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it to see if that works. I now have lost everything on my iPhone I presume.
I am furious.

This is the error message I have been getting for the past two weeks while trying to add music to my Ipod. I have tried repairing itunes, installing updates as they come, even reinstalling itunes and doing system restores. It seems nothing is working. I am getting an error message of I/O operation error, when trying to sync my iPod. I have been having this problem since July when I updated to iTunes 7.7.
