The iPod "user's iPod" cannot be synced.

Since my laptop was reimaged/rewaved, I can no longer sync iTunes with my iPod. I am using iTunes 8.1.1.10, and it does have and play all of my music, movies, podcasts, etc. from the PC. When I try to sync my iPod 160GB Classic, I receive the following message:
"The iPod "user's iPod" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
This error message is followed by another one:
"Attempting to copy to the disk "user's IPOD" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.
iTunes could not save to your iTunes Music folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your Music folder...."
I am the administrator of my laptop, and I have checked and updated permissions on all of the folders containing my iTunes music to full control, ie. includes write access. I have authorized my PC, and completely re-installed iTunes. I think that the problem is with iTunes or my PC, because I was able to sync my iPod with another iTunes on a different PC. I even tried re-creating my iTunes library and playlists, and it still will not sync to my iPod.
Can you help me, pleeeeeeeze?

I have exactly the same problem on my work PC. It started after I installed the latest version of iTunes. I tried uninstalling iTunes, deleting the itunes directory under "My Music", and reinstalling, but even that did not work.
My iPod still syncs properly on my laptop, so I'm fairly certain it's not a problem with the iPod. Would be nice if someone from Apple would comment on this issue; there are several threads with the same complaint (some going back several years) with no definitive fix.

If you're running Windows, close iTunes, right-click on the iTunes icon and choose Run as Administrator, then try syncing again.

  • Itunes wont sync nano, error The iPod " _ _ _ " cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified.

The iPod “ _ _ _ “ cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified.

The solution i found to this problem is have windows hard drive recovery tool scan and repair the hard drive on you ipod. To do this, you need to configure itunes so it does not open when you plug in you ipod. Next, plug in your ipod, for windows 7 user a pop up should come up asking to scan and fix device. click yes and give it some time. after the tool in complete unplug you ipod, open itunes, plug your ipod in. if you still get the message, click restore, and start this process on more time. If you do not have windows seven or this pop-up does not appear manually go to you hard recover tool and have it scan your ipod. then follow the rest of the process.

  • "The iPod '...' cannot be synced. The disk is locked and cannot be written to."

    Hello.
I keep getting this "The iPod '...' cannot be synced. The disk is locked and cannot be written to." error when I try to sync my 11 GB of music from my very old, updated Windows XP Pro SP3 machine to an old iPod Touch 1G (iOS v3.1.3). It has a brand new (lat/new)est iTunes installation too. I tried rebooting the the machine, disconnecting USB cables, etc. None of them helped. I did not have this problem in the end of 2013. Is my iPod Touch 1G dying?
    Thank you in advance.

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Try on another computer
I did a reset since I had to restore v3.1.3 firmware and reconfigure from a Mac OS X 10.5.8 MBP before I ran into problems. Isn't that enough? Or do I have to do it again? Also, these were brand new installations and setups for iTunes and iPod Touch 1G. So, I am doing everything from scratch.
I also found out that iTunes wants full (not read) access to my shared medias in my very old, updated Windows XP Pro SP3 machine. When I gave them full access, then I got farther, but it still failed later on (almost half way since 5 out of 11 GB according to math with disk spaces on both iTunes and iOS v3.1.3?) I didn't use Mac OS X 10.5.8's iTunes (only kept it for whited00r firmware part) for syncing since all my media is on the other machine.

Can anyone PLEASE shed some light and - hopefully - help me... I used to be able to sync my iPhone with iTunes no problem... dead easy.
However, for some unknown reason - total mystery - all of a sudden it's started to 'refuse me'. Now, when I connect up, the things seems to go all through the motions of syncing, but at the end I finally get the following message:
"The iPhone "Dani's iPhone" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found".
Funny thing is that after disconnecting, the thing does actually seem to have successfully synced!!!
It's a mystery, a puzzle... can anyone help? I don't know what is meant by "The required file cannot be found". What's happening?
Has anyone else encountered this problem and have they managed to solve it? If so, please, PLEASE... HOW?
    Thanks,
    Dani

    Hello NottiCaldo,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!

i updated the software on my iphone last night to the 2.0 and when i tried to sync my phone to put my songs back on it i got this message "The IPhone "<3 drea <3" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found" whats wrong with is and how do i fix it ??

Just another finding on my part ... I was able to sync my "last imports" from iPhoto, which were a bunch of JPG files that were scans of old family photos. As soon as I tried to sync other folders from the library, that's when I was notified with the error. Do you think this might be a complication with RAW images? I also thought about file names ... most of the photos have the sequential DSCNxxxx title.
