The JSP WYSIWYG Editor can't display most Unicode characters

Eclipse supports display of Unicode characters very well since version 3. However, NitroX couldn't display most most of them. Well, besides characters from other non-Western European languages, NitroX can't even display characters that it's supposed to support. Well, that's what I think so. I mean, when we type the & character, we have the whole list of character entity references amongst which we could find ∧ ∇ ∨ → but which are not displayed correctly. And many more are in this case.
Is this a feature or a bug? By "feature", it means that we can't get them in free version.

I have exactly the same problem. I support web pages for 25 European countries. I've not seen Nitrox support any unicode characters. Until M7 answers this question or fixes the editor, you can use the Eclipse editor to see and edit the text.

    Hi Bruce,
    for GeoRaster themes you can define a specific pyramid level to render, or you can leave the pyramid level null on the theme definition, and in this case MapViewer calculates the best level to render. The second option is recommended as it avoids loading unnecessary data given the current display parameters. If you are seeing your image get blocked, most likely at this zoom level and up you have reached the highest pyramid level of the GeoRaster. Even in MapBuilder if you keep zoom in, you get a blocked image after reaching the highest resolution level.

    OK Thanks Brad.
    I could use Tockify of course, but wanted to create the same things on an existing site.
    I do not know how to copy the code and get it onto Muse, but that’s OK for now. I will work something else out.

  • Error: String can be at most 65534 characters

    Hi,
    I am using Crystal XI
    I have a string variable in my formula that gathers log ids found when report is run. I then use this variable to display records in my subreports. But when I run a report with wider search criteria I get an error - Error: String can be at most 65534 characters.
    How can I get rid of this error? Below is my formula
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Global StringVar Array_Name;
    numbervar slno;
    Array_Name:= Array_Name & Cstr({PMP.LOG_ID}, 0) & ",";
    if {@TimelyComplete}= 0 then
    slno:= slno+ 1;
    What would be an alternative solution for this problem?
    Thanks for your help!
    -Ekta

    Storing the values would look something like this (basic syntax):
    global vals(1) as string
    global nextIndex as number
    if nextindex = 0 then
      nextIndex = 1
    end if
    if len(vals(nextIndex)) + len({field_to_add}) > 65530 then
      nextIndex = nextIndex + 1
      redim preserve vals(nextIndex)
      vals(nextIndex) = {field_to_add}
    else
      vals(nextIndex) = vals(nextIndex) + ", " + {field_to_add}
    end if

  • ERROR(web elements)- A string can be at most 65534 characters long

    Hello
    I  have a 2 level dynamic cascading prompt in crystal reports. 1st level distinct count of values->223 but
    second level distinct count of values->30,133. I am able to track these values in the sub report.
    while passing the values from subreport to main report to show as a list box using select cascade...i am getting the run time error
    "A string can be at most 65534 characters long" in the subreport formula.
    please provide me a solution for this as soon as possible.

    Hi Jamie
    Thanks for your reply. I separated the list of values as you specified in step A in the query itself.
    Now I am able to pass the values from sub report to main report.
    But not getting idea to concatenate the separated list of values in to a single list box on the main report.
    [In the main report-> I have created 4 parameters in place of 2 parameters like [MFG_Site1, MFG_Site2, SKU1, and SKU2]
    According to the Syntax,  I have used the same parameter name for element name in weselectcascade function.
    in the main report, created 2 weselectcascade functions  for Mfgsite(MFG_Site1,MFG_Site2)
                                              2 weselectcascade functions for SKU (SKU1, SKU2)
    2 separate list boxes I am getting on the report (one for A to M, other for N to Z)
    Please provide me a solution to combine these two in to a single list box.
    Thanks

  • Customize the cms wysiwyg editor

    How can I customize the toolbars and menues in the wysiwyg editor?
    I have managed to customize the menu by editing "./servers/PortalServer/tmp/_WL_user/wlp-commonui-web-lib/ 842fj3/wlp/pinEdit/editor/config/config_menu_custom.js" However, I guess this will be overwritten on the next deploy?
    The toolbar is customizable by changing the parameters to the wysiwyg iframe, but how do I do that?
    Thanks in advance

    Rather than modifying that file in your temp directory, you could extract that file to your web project and modify it there. That way, your modifications will persist for your project.
    Using Eclipse with the Portal perspective, use the Merged Projects View and locate that .js file. Right click on it and extract it to your project. Now, this file in your web project will override the file in the Library Module.
    But please note that this WYSISYG editor is not licensed for usage outside of the uses that BEA WebLogic Portal has provided. If you wish to use this editor for your own portlets/purposes, you must contact PinTex for your own license.

  • When I drag and drop an icon from the address bar to the desktop is does creat the shortcut but will not display the website icon, only the firefox icon, how can I display website icons?

    When I drag and drop a website icon from the Forefox address bar to the desk top, the short cut is created but the icon that appears is the firefox Icon. I want to disply the icon from the website that the short cut refers to. I have checked all I can think of in my computer to no avail.

    You have to assign the favicon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click the shortcut: Properties) after you have dragged the link to the desktop.
    You can usually find the favicon in Tools >Page Info > Media and save the icon there.
    Otherwise use the main domain of the website and add favicon.ico (e.g. mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder.

  • Configuring weblogic 8.1 to hide the jsp file name to be displayed

    Hi,
              I am having problem with configuring weblogic 8.1 to display the jsp file name in the address bar. Please have a look at this link for a description of my problem

    You should use a controller servlet which forwards to the correct JSP. Then the JSP name is not displayed in the address bar.
              With 8.1 you simply could use a Java pageflow to link several JSPs.
              Generated URLs in the browser will look like
              http://localhost:7001/sampleportal/newpageflow1/test.do;jsessionid=BFssBfmdv4Ly1GDG7gJNZH1d3s2ShJG2qpG4KJJMVvSf0JdyG2nQ!1118879021

    When I try to use Symbol font and display it in JLabel, it show a square.
    i have read the article written by John O'Conner
    http://www.joconner.com/javai18n/articles/TextDisplay.htm.
    Thanks for providing those valuable information. it does help to understand some international issue.
    however, I am not sure if it apply to Symbol font such as Wingdings, webdings.
        Font fontPalatino = new Font( "Palatino LinoType", Font.PLAIN, 25); //unicode font
        Font fontMapInfo = new Font( "MapInfo Transportation", Font.PLAIN, 25); // non-unicode font
        Font fontWingdings  = new Font( "Wingdings", Font.PLAIN, 25);
              // use integer number and convert into equivalent character
              // e.g. if i is 65 then c is A.
              // notes: 65 is a decimal value converted from hex 0041 value
              int i = 65;
              char c = (char)i;
              System.out.println( new Character(c).toString() );
              JLabel jlbl = new JLabel();
              jlbl.setFont(fontSymbol);
              jlbl.setText( new Character(c).toString() );1) I can't display any Wingdings font , any expert can help on this?
    2) what is the difference between 0021(character code for Arial font) and 0x21(character code for Wingdings font) shown in character map?

    When I try to use Symbol font and display it in
    JLabel, it show a square.
    i have read the article written by John O'Conner
    http://www.joconner.com/javai18n/articles/TextDisplay.htm.
    Much of that article is now incorrect or unnecessary for JDK 1.5. Because 1.5 knows how to find a font for the character you're trying to display, you should be able to set your label font to any logical font, and the JRE should find a substitute font if necessary that can display the character.
    I'll give your code a try and will post results...is the code you've posted the code I should actually experiment with? It seems like you should want to display something different than 0x0065.
    Your other questions:
    0x0021 is the exclamation mark regardless of font. I see what you mean, however, since the wingdings font in charmap also says 0x0021. However, that mapping is obviously not a Unicode code point mapping.
    I looked in the Misc. Symbols and Dingbats section of Uncode. A few characters might be a reasonable substitution for the pencil character you want:
    0x270E (LOWER RIGHT PENCIL)
    0x270F (PENCIL)
    0x2710 (UPPER RIGHT PENCIL)
    I didn't see any mirror images of these, ie LOWER LEFT PENCIL and UPPER LEFT PENCIL, although I admit that I didn't look closely.
    Maybe one of these will work for you instead of the Wingdings 0x21 character you mentioned.
    Regards,
    John O'Conner

  • A string can be at most 65534 characters long error

    The following formula is causing the error.  How can I fix this formula to correct the error?
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar f:= f + {HNO_NOTE_TEXT.NOTE_TEXT};

    yes, you'd need to create a bunch of formulae to get around this...one main formula that creates a bunch of string running totals and then some display formulas. the display formulas would then be put into a Text Object.
    the formula below uses a buffer (as mentioned below) of 500 characters...adjust this to the longest length of the note field...i.e. if the note field can be up to 2000 characters, then set b to 2000.
    create a new formula like...
    //@main formula
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar t:= {HNO_NOTE_TEXT.NOTE_TEXT};
    numbervar b:= 500;
    stringvar f1; stringvar f2; stringvar f3;
    stringvar f4; stringvar f5; stringvar f6;
    b:= 65534 - b;
    if len(f1) <= b then f1:=f1+t
    else
    if len(f2) <= b then f2:=f2+t
    else
    if len(f3) <= b then f3:=f3+t
    else
    if len(f4) <= b then f4:=f4+t
    else
    if len(f5) <= b then f5:=f5+t
    else
    if len(f6) <= b then f6:=f6+t;
    create another formula and put this in a text object...
    //@display1 formula
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar f1;
    create another formula and put this in the text object beside the above formula...
    //@display2 formula
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar f2;
    repeat the steps for creating new formulae 'til you've got one for stringvar f6;
    if you want to reset the string running total on a Group level then also create a reset formula for the group header.
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar f1:= ''; stringvar f2:= ''; stringvar f3:= '';
    stringvar f4:= ''; stringvar f5:= ''; stringvar f6:= '';

  • [SOLVED] Can't display extended unicode

    Hello,
    My arch install cannot render extended unicode characters. Example:

    I first though it was a font issue, but this website tells me that I have many, many fonts that should display that character:

    It renders nowhere on my system. Not on firefox, not on terminal, not on gedit, nothing. I am sure it is not a font issue, as I have tried Arial, Times New Roman, DejaVu sans and other that are suppsed to have extended Unicode support.

  • Enhancement request for the jsp visual editor

    Hello -
    With respect to the visual editor, could the rendering of adf faces command buttons work the same if you use the TextAndAccessKey instead of Text to define the button text? In 10.1.3, using TextAndAccessKey will cause the buttons to render as either thin buttons without any text (but with 'normal' button height) or barely noticable 'dots' about the size of a comma. (When I see the "dots" it is usually a button in a table selection component.)
    With the buttons appearing "empty", I need to click around a bit and examine the button in the property inspector to make sure that I am working with the correct button.
    Thanks,

  • How can I display East Asian characters in MediaSour

    I am using Windows XP SP2 Chinese Traditional (Taiwan) edition, although I li've in the US.
    My system setting is by default Chinese Traditional, and I have enabled East Asian language support for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
    However, Creai've MediaSource has trouble displaying such East Asian characters, most of them look like random code.
    At the same time Windows Media Player can display all the music info just fine.
    I have a very large collection of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean music, so this function is very important to me.
    Please help if possible.
    I've read some previous posts about such issues, but most of them seem to involve the English version of Windows which is not in my case.
    Thanks in advance.

    I don't know why, but whatever I do, I can't seem to get the East Asian characters to work at all. I tried the control panels stuff, but when I use the "Get Info" thing before ripping a CD in MediaSource, I still get random characters.
    Go to MediaSource's Tools->Settings->Audio CD/Rip setting page. In there, you can then set a language to be used for CDDB info. Just try and error with the different language settings (use CDDB, use OS, or use a specifc language) and one of them will be the correct one. You may need to set a different language setting for different CDs.

    Anyone have any idea what's going on?

    I can confirm the odd character display. Xterm will display the problem Unifont characters, but there are column alignment problems at all but a few point sizes.  Many of the glyphs require two columns, but I don't know what difficulties that presents for font designers or terminal emulator programmers.
    Very few monospace fonts include these seldom used arrow symbols. If you truly need the arrows, you might try Everson Mono or Code2000 from the AUR. They include some of the glyphs in the problem range.

  • How can Mapviewer display double-byte characters

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem using Mapviewer to display a map with a title containing double-byte characters e.g. chinese charaters. I think the problem takes place as map_Request producing the map image.
    My environment is :

    Oracle 9.01
    J2EE
    IE 6.0

    are you using the mapclient.jsp demo file? there is a bug in that file that will lead to truncated map requests when the title is in chinese. it will be fixed in the next version of MapViewer (a beta version
    of which will be on OTN soon).
