OS - Mavericks
PROBLEM
I can boot up and login to my laptop - no problem. I have my login set up so that my user name appears and all I have to do is type my password.
The problem is when I try to wake my computer or disconnect it from my thunderbolt display. Sometimes, (more frequently as of late) when I wake my computer or disconnect it from my thunderbolt display my computer will revert back to a dark gray login screen and prompt me to put in my user name and password (First of all the login screen that comes up is different than the one that comes up when i boot up the laptop because it requests me to type in my user name). - once I type in my user name and password it will not let me log in. It will clear both the username and password fields and sit at this screen. At this point I am forced to restart my laptop and log back in. I never have any problems restarting and loging in right after booting up.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I do not think it is normal for it to just revert to the login screen and then not even accept my login information.

If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

Plug the iPhone in with the Wall Charger. Then while plugged in do the Reset again, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone Restarts. This usually begins to happen in less than 20 seconds time.
If you this does not work you can try to Restore the Firmware on your iPhone. If you decide to do this, connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes open. Hold both the Home and Power buttons until the iPhone is detected by iTunes in Recovery Mode, this takes about 20 seconds time. Restore your iPhone.
If this does not work, you can try to Restore the Firmware on your iPhone in DFU Mode. Connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes open. Hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release the Power Button and keep holding the Home Button until iTunes recognizes the iPhone in Recovery Mode, about 20 seconds more time. Restore the iPhone.
If this does not work and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take your iPhone to Apple for resolution of the problem. -
The last update for creative cloud fails. Deinstalling and new download fails also. The download stop at 45%. What can I do? Using Mac OS X Maverics.

InDesign asterisk does not go away even after saving
I have a file in CS4 InDesign that I have made a number of changes to, and when I saved it, then opened it again, it had the asterisk next to the title, indicating that it needs to be saved, but all I did was OPEN it. I have a Mac using Snow Leopard (purchased in 2010) and I am currently using CS4 InDesign. Other than that, InDesign works fine. I have tried doing a SAVE AS, I have tried exporting the document as an IDML file, then opening in InDesign and saving, only to see the asterisk again. Sometimes, on other docs, exporting as an IDML works. I read it gets rid of the accumulated "junk" from multiple saves. Any ideas? Like I said, just 1 or 2 files. By the way, these files were done in CS4--not an earlier version of CS, as I know that would say CONVERTED next to the name, which this does not.
That is more for an InDesign program problem that effects the functionality of the program for most or all documents. This is only for a couple of well-used docs. I have my prefs set and I don't want to recreate them. Besides, that hasn't worked in the past. I'm attributing the asterisk issue with too much junk in the doc along with a lot of saving. It will be easier to recreate the file and start fresh. I have found that any other strange behavior (rare) is solved by simply exporting the file as an IDML or INX. Thanks for your suggestions.

My coworker has a fairly new iPad with retina display. She has an error message that the iPad has not been backed up and needs to back up when locked, on wifi, and connected to a power supply. It has an ok button to acknowledge the message. Every time she hits the ok button, the error message remains. She is unable to power down because the error message stays at the top and disables the ability to use any other touch portions of the screen. She tried using Siri to reboot, but Siri was of no help. She just kept saying that she does not wear boots. Holding the power button down for an extended period also did not help. She does not have access to the computer that has her iTunes on it, so she cannot sync it via cable. She also does not want to do a reset because she has several photos that she does not want to lose. What can she do?
Try holding the Home and Power keys at the same time for approx 10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears, this will 'reset' the device - it won't lose any data doing this, let us know how you get on.

I am getting a message "iPad Not Backed Up". When I click on "ok" on the message, nothing happens - it is locked. Thought turning off the iPad would help but because it is locked, it won't let me slide to power off.
Have you tried plugging the iPad into power and letting it backup over Wi-Fi?
You should be able to reset your iPad. -
I have an iPad 3rd gen. A carrier settings update notification has appeared on my screen, and it doesn't do anything when I press either 'update' or 'not now' . Because the notification is still there, I am unable to use any apps or shut it down. What should I do?
Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider. Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

My ipad is hung with the dialogue box saying "this iPad hasn't been backed up in 4 weeks. Backup happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi". Even after doing that, I am not able to do anything with the iPad - neither able to reboot nor able to get to the homescreen. The dialogue box doesn't go at all even after pressing OK a hundred times. I treid tacking the back up through itunes and through 3G conncetion but of no avail. Please help
I too have been having this issue since about 12/14. That is around the same time I got the Ipad for my kids. I am unsure if it is related. I have tried logging out of icloud/deleting it and trying again. Removing most of the apps to sync. I reset my router. All of the attempts have produced zero results. I will be anxiously watching this thread for some help. Good luck to you also
