It happening to me too. Not only is it prompting "Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services", now everytime I restart my computer, it prompted something about runtime error. Tried starting up itunes also prompted the same runtime error. I have to uninstall all the component following the instruction from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 in order to get rid of the runtime error.

the ipod forum is very good entertainment. i remember reading it last christmas day. lots of folk blaming apple for ruining their families christmas by intentionally providing ipods that didn't work. i knew apple was pretty big i didn't know it could ruin so many xmas celebrations.

Very sorry to hear that - can't imagine the frustration (and I dislike 11 enough over little things), but sorry my suggestion made things worse - all I can say is it ended up working for me =/
I think the next thing I'd try is doing a restore of a backup of that iPod on iTunes if one exists, and if that doesn't work, I think I'd try going back to iTunes 10.7 for the time being and trying the restore thing from that; hopefully it'll sync as it had been before the upgrade. Sorry I don't have a better suggestion.

The new iTunes doesn´t allow me to import or see my homemade videos, any suggestions?

Hi, I just installed the new Itunes on both my mac and Pc. In the Mac i have no problems yet, but in my PC (windows Vista) I can´t see the movies i have in the library and wont let me import new homemade videos. I try to go back to the old version, but it won´t oppen becouse the Itunes list is made by the new version. Someody have the same problem? Any ideas about what should I do?

I am facing the same issue too. One workaround is to get all the tracks and music videos of that artist by using the search option and then select the video that you want to view. Then double click on that view and you will be able to preview the video rather than directly going to the preview option. This somehow works for me pretty well.

The new iTunes doesn't maximise properly

Sometimes, when I open the new iTunes and maximise the window, it does not maximise properly (a part of it goes beyond the screen). Does anyone know the reason?

I've also noticed that and it's a pain.
If you maximise the screen and exit out of iTunes (X key), when you restart it, it opens up as you left it but when you press the resize key, it maximises out of the current screen. But if you resize the screen (so it's not maximised) and then exit, once you restart it, the size problem has gone.
So when I wanted to exit the application, I would always resize it so that it wasn't maximise screen size, and then once I restarted iTunes at a later time, the resize problem would not occur.
HOWEVER, yesterday I updated my iTunes and I don't get this problem anymore (yet) !!

ITunes 11 doesn't sync any music, apps or photoes after "determining apps to sync" step

So I have a new iPhone 4S, and it requires a higher version of my old iTunes version ( I don't remember which version it was) to work. After I update to iTunes 11, I can only sync some data like contacts, mails, text messages from my old phone to the new one, but the apps, songs, and photoes from the library cannot be synced to the new phone. Everytime I choose to sync, it shows several steps from "waiting..", "preparing..", and always stop syncing after the "determining apps to sync" step. I don't know how to fix this problem, can someone please help?

My phone works now. What I did was delete all the apps I purchased on the phone and sync, and it worked!!!

We have windows xp and my dad and I have seperate usernames on the computer each with itunes, however we shared an itunes id. Now with the new itunes each other's icloud music shows up in each of our librarys. Is there a way to not have icloud music show?

Basically I don't want the icloud to show up in my library or a viewing option that lets me hide it. Everything I've tried just simply gets rid of the little cloud icon in the library. I don't want to delete the songs from icloud just so that when I'm viewing my library only the songs on the computer show.
This has been an annoying problem because like I said on my each of our seperate librarys eachothers music shows up from the icloud and we have different tastes and I don't want his stuff intermixed and playing with mine when I'm in my library.

Turn it off.
Edit > Preferences > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases

New iTunes doesn't see all music in iTunes folder

I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.1.1.12. Since the upgrade, I notice that it only shows a portion of the files in the iTunes folder.
I can see them when I open the folder in Windows Explorer.
I haven't/don't receive an error message.
How can I correct this?

From Germany with not perfect English:
I had similar problem. Files that were not transferred had either no file-ending (.tif and .jpg-files without these endings are not synct) or a wrong ending (.pdf for example).
And the Apple-Hotline told me, a next iPod-software-update would allow a better sorting photos on the iPod. (Actually you can not use folders in folders, and all Photoes are sorted by date; a little help may be a count-number at the beginning of the file-name: 01.... 02.... 03... This helps, however it is not a good work for so many photos as you have.)

I installed the new itunes 11.0.4 on windows and now some of my movies will not play

Some of my movies will play in itunes, but some of them make it crash and I have played them previously in other versions of Itunes. Is anyone else having the same trouble? Also, it is putting some of my movies in the home video file and not the movie files. Any suggestions on that? thanks

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

I bought a new computer, and iTunes doesn't have my music or anything on there. I want to get everything on my iPhone to my new computer/itunes. But no matter what i do, it won't let me. My desktop has everything, and I want all that on my laptop..

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then seeRecover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
