The new upgrade with Itunes will not install
I have tried to download the new update for ITunes and it doesn't install correctly. now it is missing a file and i can't even open it
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I'm trying to download the new version of itunes. durig the install i get a message that I need to verify that I have sufficient privilege. Then I get a message of a Windows error 126 and a missing file MSVCR 80.dll. I've tried everything on the support site and nothing works.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

The new version of itunes will not open on my macbook. Help?
I have a Macbook that is a few years old. Recently updated the latest version of itunes and can't get it to open. Have searched forums and tried reinstalling quicktime but no luck. Help!
What happens when you try to open it? Does it seem to try to launch and then crash? Does it just not respond? Any error messages?

New version of itunes does not install
The new version of Itunes does not install on my computer. I have run all of the service steps from the knowledge base and there has been no change. I am running win 7 64 bit on an alienware m17x. can I get some help? I have my dxdiag if it will help.
The last version of itunes (what I believe to be the first 64 bit one) , the textures were not always correct but it still functioned. This new one doesn't even install and as a troubleshooting thing I unistalled itunes and quickime as well as clearing the temp files and running the instaler with no 3rd party programs on startup, so now I have no itunes. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.Hmm, no response, I guess this must be too hard a problem to solve
Is this because XP is not officially supported any more??
People who have problems installing on Vista seem to get a response!!
I think that I will just keep the version of itunes that I currently have installed as, judging by the people on this forum who have problems with the new version, I am probably better off not upgrading anyway. -
I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi. I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.
Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch -

What a pain -on a mac- never had aproblem- loaded a new shuffle with music - will not let me sync itunes store bought songs- will not let me authorize the computer. I have a ipod as well. Is this a block when loading a second device? OR?
In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer. If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first. -
My "newer version" of itunes will not open. How can I either get it to open or get the older version which worked fine?
Restore the backup before you installed.
If you didn't make a backup, at very minimum make sure your Music library isn't compromised by locating the folder you selected the music to be in (usually in Users -> yourname -> Music) and make sure there are several MB of data there by clicking once on the folder, and selecting Get Info from the File menu in the Finder.
If you can't find it, try to locate parts of track names with Find Any File.
http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
then determine which parent file of the .mp3 or .mpa files you have contains all of the music files by getting info under each previous folder in the folder tree.
Once you determine which folder contains all your music, back it up using the Finder, or backup the entire hard drive using cloning software at least to two different drives or two complete copies on DVDs:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
You'll then want to erase and install 10.6 from the system installer you used to put 10.6 on your Mac, and run the combo 10.6.8 updater and apply the necessary security updates:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3261
Then you can install older versions of iTunes for the Mac from here, once you determine which version is compatible with 10.6.8 that you liked before by first checking which version is compatible with what you need:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes_version_history
Once you know that, if you can't find it with Google, let us know and maybe one of us can help. Lastly reload your music in your music folder, and your other applications. -
Itunes will not install. I get the error message "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\com.apple.IE.client_main.dll Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates -
Itunes will not install/upgrade?
itunes will not install, keeps trying to save to g:/ drive when it does not exist, will not let me change drive?
+"E:\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\sv.lproj\Ringtone.nib". The file is there and if you clik on it it says it is bad. It is marked read only and will not let me change this or delete it or anything. After you clik cancel install another message box comes up and says:"The installer has encounted an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330".+
Yeah, the 2330 is usually associated with a bad file or folder interfering with an install.
Try running a chkdsk over your C drive:

Des the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you now move or delete that file? If so, will an itunes install go through properly now? -
I have moved from the UK to New Zealand and Itunes will not accept my new Zealand bank details, I am trying to change my details on the Iphone 4s
Do you have a new Apple ID to use in NZ? If not open iTunes Store. Log out of your old Apple ID, then try to login. Select Create Apple ID from the dialog that appears. Make a new Apple ID for NZ with a NZ email address. Once that is approved and verified, log into the iTunes Store with the new Apple ID. This should fix all other issues.
Change iTunes Store Country on an iDevice
1. Tap Settings;
2. Tap iTunes & App Stores;
3. Tap View Apple ID;
4. Enter your user name and password;
5. Tap Country/Region;
6. Tap Change Country/Region;
7. Select the region where you will be located;
8. Tap Done.
Also, see How to Change Your iTunes Store Account Location | eHow.com. -
