The old CMYK colours are dull question.

I understand the diffrence between CMYK and RGB but...
My colours look dull on screen in CMYK - what if I want to send something to a client? I can't send a PDF off for approval with all dull looking colours even if the final print will look brighter?
What am I missing?

If you're using cmyk it's because it's a job for print.
If your pdf's are going to be viewed on screen then stick to RGB
If your pdf's are going to be printed out on a desktop printer for presentation then I would still stick with RGB if there is any danger that they will be compared with the screen image.
If you are more concerned with getting a close representation to the printed job, then convert to cmyk.
Comparing screen images with printed images is always going to make the printed version seem dull, even if you're talking about 100% yellow. And that's the perfect excuse to use RGB in an on screen presentation to give the client the sparkling colours they usual like to see.

Due to NAS issues, when I started a new time machine backup it did not have the old backups available. My question is do I need to delete them or will time machine automatically reclaim the space? There is only one sparse bundle but when I enter time machine I don't see my historic backups. I use a synology DS212 for my time machine. Started a new backup which is 218gb but it says 618 gb is occupied therefore it looks like 2 or 3 backups are still on the disk. Before my NAS issues the last backup was in 2014. As you can see there is a second sparse bundle from 2012. Not sure what that is.

This is an old message now, but what happened to me similarly was:
I had a major computer crash and through complicated pathways ended up reinstalling (Mavericks) as a new user (long story).
At least I had good Time Machine backups on an NAS drive (Synology DS212j), or so I thought - when I started Time Machine up again, the old backup file was gone, replaced by a new one using my "new computer" name. The old file was gone both by directly mounting the NAS drive and by clicking "Enter Time Machine".
It's like I had {OldShareName}.sparsebundle and then it was replaced by {NewShareName}.sparsebundle, all of the old info vanished.
(I have spent a week finding old files elsewhere and have completed a satisfactory self-restore. It pays to "archive" [my own variation of] as well as "back-up".)
My belief is that if this were a wired-netword-drive, e.g. plugged right into my iMac with a USB cable, then the old file would have remained.
But this is an NAS drive, connected directly to my Airport wireless router, and I don't know the significance of the fact that it stores its Time Machine backups as "sparsebundle" files rather than simply as plain(er) files.
As usual when things get complicated with computers (not just Apple computers) there was never a warning message. Something like "YOU'RE ABOUT TO DELETE A TIME MACHINE BACK-UP FILE!!!" would have made my life a lot simpler.
BTW, I did try a "restore from Time Machine" option the first thing I had my "new computer" (old hardware, 2009 iMac) up and running, using Migration Assistant, and it ran for many hours and then failed in the wee hours - what that has to do with anything I'm not sure.
I'm not sure that I have a question about this other than "why do these things happen to me?", but it's a warning. Apart from that I've been very happy with the stability and reliability (but not the cost or set-up complexity) of NAS vs. directly-cabled external drives.

If you don't want to do this, then you will have to live with those sync pics on yoru phone.

TS3297 When I download an app from the iTunes Store there are security questions that i don't know. Is there anyway to reset them?

Before doing so, I did not copy the pics on the photo stream of my iPad to the album and now the only pics being synce with my iPad are new pics either saved or taken on phone. Old pics are still on phone. There has to be a way to get these pics to be able to stream them on to iPad, right?

You have a couple of options to get them in your photo stream:
Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot. This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll. This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once. Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll. These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream. (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)
Or, you can add them to a shared stream and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99). The shared stream will appear on your iPad and you can either leave things this way, or save them to the camera roll on your iPad and delete the shared stream. They won't be in your photo stream but they will at least be on your iPad.

Screen Grab Colours are dull and don't match original.

I'm running photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64 bit.
A quick technique I use is to do screen grabs of what I'm working on rather than saving and opening a jpeg.
I do this with alt+print screen. It's worked fine until a few days ago I noticed that the colours were really dull
and didn't match what I had in the original PSD.
When this happens I don't leave Photoshop or the screen I'm working on. I'm doing a screen grab of the
design I'm working on already in Photoshop.
I would expect this if I was grabbing from a different screen or app that perhaps used a different colour
profile but I can't figure out why this is happenign natively within only Photoshop.
I guess something must have changed in some obscure colour management document that is stashed
away in a corner of my hard drive that I have no chance of finding.
Does anybody know why this is happening and what I need to do to fix it? I've been using this technique
for years and it's only now that I discover this problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What kind of monitor do you have?
Is it specifically capable of showing its display with the sRGB gamut (you'll likely have to look in the technical specs for that)?
It is possible to set up a system where the monitor color profile is sRGB (basically, the Windows default), and at that point the colors from non-color-managed applications and those from color-managed applications showing sRGB images will match exactly.
The trick is getting the monitor to show a very good semblance of the sRGB color space, so what you're seeing is proper color. But it's doable.
I assume you're calibrating/profiling your monitor with some device now. What device?

There is only one solution. Each user must have their own separate user account. All of their respective data would be contained in their separate user accounts. This also means each will have a separate iTunes Library. If you all use the same third-party apps, then each will have to purchase their own copies under their own Apple IDs. Some data sharing is possible. See:

How to close OLD POs which are in Closed or Cancelled ?

Our client wants to Finally Close the OLD POs which are in Closed or Cancelled state in order for them to be Purged as part of Archiving Project.
For the same I am trying with the API - po_actions.close_po
Follwoing is the code I tried to close one PO, by simply hardcoding the values -

But for all PO's the return code is returning FALSE.
Can anyone please advise me where I may be going wrong or if the above API does not work then what is the other means to close POs.
Also I read many questions on the forums for the same, but none has a definite answer.
Please advise..as there are many PO's and cant be closed manually.

How to remove the old context files after upgrade to R12.1.1

Hi,
I upgraded 11.5.9 (DB 9.2.0.4) to 12.1.1 (DB 11.2.0.2).
In the Applications Manager under AutoConfig menu, I noticed that I have 4 context files: 2 for DB Tier and 2 for Apps Tier. Apparently two of them are old from the 11i system. How can delete them so I have two listed on this page. I need to add custom parameters. When I tried to do it, it errored out saying "Customization is not allowed on different versions of configuration files.".

Make sure none of the old context files are available on the servers (delete them), also make sure you have proper entries in the FND_NODES table.

I changed the captions for my family photos to include names, but when I exported the photos to make DVD's for family members, the old captions were there and not the new ones. How can I make a DVD to include the new captions with names?

I have labeled old family photos with names that I would like to share at a family reunion via DVD. When I export the photos to make the DVD, the old photo labels are back rather than the new labels with names. Can I export the photos with the new titles?

iPhoto shows you these Titles but the Finder shows you Filenames
If you export (File -> Export) you'll get the Export dialogue. Note the option at FileName to use the Title as filename for the exported photo

One small thing - I believe the reason why some of my drivers were messing up was because they were SP2 specific; the older drivers and the ones that were compatible with both SP and 2 were fine.
As soon as I did the reinstall, all of the drivers/programs that were not working, worked (aside from the ones that I mentioned in my attached email above).
So, if after uninstalling the old SP2 you are told that loads of drivers/programs will not work, fear not - most should fix themselves upon installing the new SP2.

Why won't my old Pages docs open with the old Pages application?

I have a whole suite of complex documents created with the old Pages - which will not open with the old Pages application. Why not? The new app appears not to have things I need - like autoflow to complex linked boxes for example, or easy kerning.
Is there a workaround to so that I can access my documents without having to redo them? I don't want to use the new app. It's hideous, lumpen and unsophisticated. Why has a decent product been replaced with crap?

What version is "the old Pages"?
What version of OSX?
What happens when you try and open an old document with the "old Pages"?
Are you really saying that Pages '08/'09 won't open Pages 5 documents?
Because that is not a surprise, you need to Export the newer version documents back.
