The scrolling function on my Toshiba laptop no longer works with the new version of Firefox.
The scrolling function on the touchpad of my laptop hasn't lost functionality in any other program save for Firefox. Is there a setting or tool that I am not using correctly?
I apologize, I wasnt quite clear enough. I meant the center button on my touchpad like the center scroll button on a mouse, not the up down left right arrows on the keyboard. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks, Lawrence. I figured that was what I was going to have to do in the end. I have a few games with quite a few hours invested, and I worry that I'll lose the progress I have as they do not save to the cloud. I may have to bite the bullet, and just take the plunge to resolve this. I just want a way to easily transfer my "Home Computer" for my iPhone. My laptop is years old and in need of being replaced, and it's about time to upgrade my phone. These life events piling up are making me consider switching to a friendlier OS. I'm not using this as a threat. I just hope some apple high up will read this, and realize that we need alternatives. Life happens.
Thank you both Paul and Lawrence. I clicked "This helped me" not knowing it would remove the option to choose "This fixed my problem" too. For anyone else reading this thread. Using the guide provided has done both. It has helped me and given me a fix to my current problem. Lawrence has also provided me with the last bit of information I feel is missing from wjosten's guide. That syncing will completely erase all of your data and reinstall it in one fell swoop. It's a great fix. Even if it isn't the exact one I wanted. Thank you again! -
What is going on with the scroll function. It doesn't seem to work ever since I downloaded Mountain Lion.
I've noticed this too...when I'm in Safari, scrolling is a bit jerky and sometimes it stops even though I'm still scrolling...my fingers go right off the trackpad. I just downloaded the new updates onto my brand new macbook air- had to do it manually as "power nap" doesn't work, even after the SMC reset. Lamesauce.

The 'Shuffle' function on my iPod Classic no longer works on my iPod or in my vehicle (2012 Acura TL). It worked prior to syncing in iTunes using my MacbookPr .Now I can only play music sequentially. Can anyone assist?

Hello, I've updated the iPhone I have got I have a problem I hope you respond to some of the applications no longer work, such as the safari and skype and many applications are no longer working with the ios7.0.4
Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
The apple store is so unhelpful. I have an iMac computer operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I want to upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion operating system so I can work with the iCloud on my computer and download my emails. I can't seem to purchase this on-line as it keeps telling me to go to the app store. I haven't got the app store on my computer as I am told I need iCloud for which I need the new operating system, which I can't download or purchase as I am sent back to an instruction telling mee to go to the app store icon.
How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'

Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

My iMessage and some of my applications no longer work with the new software update. How do I fix this?
I called Apple Support after trying many fixes suggested online. They directed me to the procedure on the following page:

I did the erase and restore option they suggested since I had tried a pile of ther things suggested on posts and blogs and they did not work. I even waited the obligatory 24 hours, thus the restore from backup option was what they suggested. I have a 64gig iPhone 4S and it took about 1.5 hours to complete the entire operation seeing that I am using about 54 gigs of that capacity.
Warning: I lost all of my emails and all of the data files from one of my map programs so be sure you have everything that you really need from your phone store elsewhere before wiping your phone. I thought that the backup on my computer would restore everything but obviously NOT.

Well it seems that you did not explain to us the full story. Did you change ISP's or something? Why would it not show up anymore?
What colour is the light on the time-capsule? If it's blinking amber, then you probably need to do a factory-reset. That should get it to show up again in AirPort Utility. -

All of my photos now have the same photo when I look at them in the viewing area. It makes it look as though all of my photos are the exact same! I have to actually open the photo itself to see the actual photo. this makes it impossible to work with the photos in iphoto. How can I return it so that I see the photo itself in the preview area? Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. This can take three or four goes.

I can not scroll through web pages with the scroll feature on my touch pad. It worked in 3.6 and all other programs that I use. I have tried 4.0 twice with the same results, I've restarted, rebooted etc.
This should not be application dependant but a system function.
Now I will either roll back to 3.6 where I have troubles with some secure sites or just dump the whole thing and try Chrome.I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them. Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

Otherwise, make sure you are indexing all files.
Someone else had a similar problem recently, and fixed the problem by relocating the Bridge cache location - initiating a complete rebuild of the index and cache. Sledgehammer to crack a nut, but very easy to do. -
Function keys no longer working with a new keyboard...
I got a new keyboard and my function keys no longer work with it. I am used to have them used in the standard format, i.e. F10-F12 control the voume, etc. I have the "Use all f1,f2, etc." button clicked. I have also tried restarting my computer. Any thoughts?
Try doing a SMC reset and PRAM reset.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
I have an HP DV9000 series laptop. I have used it with Firefox for google hangouts in the past, but with several updates, it no longer works. The built in webcam works with dedicated software but is not detected by the googletalk plugin. I have loaded several older versions of Firefox and none seem to work. Is this an issue with Firefox or the googletalk plugin? Thanks!
thanks, but it did not help. I have re-installed and reset firefox and googletalk. In the googletalk chat settings, the webcam and microphone are not recognized. The camera works fine with Youcam.
