  • Software update failed. help please!

I have just tried to install my 10 OS software it was all fine until at the very end of the 2GB update I got the message 'software failed'. I have read this might be because of lack of space but I have checked that and I have enough free space. Now when I attempt to start the update against it only gives me the option to cancel and that button doesn't do anything! Any solutions?
    Thanks

This is what I said on that post:
I had this happened to me on a brand new Z10. I called Verizon and they informed me this is one of those moments where you have to hate RIM. According to Verizon when you are doing the update process and your phone loses signal, or turns off during the update process, the phone goes into an "unfixable state". The only way to fix the phone according to Verizon is by sending the phone back and getting a new one.
They also said "to make sure when anyone does updates with the phone to do them when you will have the best signal and the phone is plugged in. DO NOT move the phone during the update process to maximize a successful update process."

  • "The software update failed. Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again"

    Hi
I just had my xperia Z3c in repairs, and now I seem to have the death screen or something. When I connect to a wall charger or my MacBook, it starts turning on and off, displaying the message "The software update failed. Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again", even when it's connected to the wall charger, not the Mac. I've tried pushing the volume up + on/off button for 10 seconds, and Sony Bridge for Mac doesn't recognize the device. I was told to let it charge for an hour before turning it on at the store, which I did, but again, it starts flashing that message as soon as I connect it to anything.
    Pleease help me out
    Best regards
    Maria

Connect your phone to a wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds > let it charge for 2 to 3 hours

  • The software update failed

Downloading the latest firmware took forever (3 hours and still at 30%). Then I accidently unplugged the USB cable. Now my phone says "The software update failed" and I am unable to turn it on or connect using The Sony Bridge for Mac. How can I fix this?

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

  • Software Update Server - help please

    Hello -
Just set up a 10.6 server.
I can't seem to get the Software Update Service to work. The service starts etc, and downloads all the updates - but when I use software update on a client v10.6 (which has a server account) - it pulls the update down from the internet - or at least seems to.
Is there a way of knowing whether the update is being downloaded from my server or Apples?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
I've always configured OSX Server regardless of use since 10.3 with DNS Services either configured on the Server itself or on another server. Since 10.5 it's a necessity regardless which 'mode' you chose: Standard; WorkGroup or Advanced.
You might not be aware of this?
In my experience configuring clients to use the local SUS with IP address alone has rarely if ever worked. However that does not mean to say it won't as there have been some who've posted who've used the IP address and it seems to have worked for them?
If you search the relevant boards you'll see what I mean.
If you've tried with the IP address and it has not worked then try with the hostname instead. If DNS Services have been enabled on the Server and if it's using itself for DNS Resolution then clients must be using the Server it for their DNS for this to work.
One way of testing if clients can 'see' SUS is to launch a browser on a client and enter the url you've used in the command.

  • I am trying to install Itunes again but it wont let me. So i was uninstalling all the apple and itunes programs to start over, i have everything uninstalled exept Apple Software Update. HELP PLEASE

When i try to uninstall Apple software update it brings up a message saying "There is a problem with this Windows installer package.  A program requirement for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I believe i have Windows VISTA. Yes i know its old but i have not had the money or time to update.
I just want itunes installed properly so i can use it for when i have my new phone. please please help i have tried everything it seems like !

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • "Bluetooth: Not Available" problem created by software update; need help please?

I ran a regular software update as prompted by my iMac to get to 10.6.8, and now have "Bluetooth: Not Available" with squiggly line thru it.  I've tried an SMC, updated software to 10.8.4...no availability of my Bluetooth to work the magic mouse, or any ability to access Bluetooth in System Preferences...help please?

You say you have "tried an SMC."  Reset the SMC nd PRAM again.
    Barry
P.S.  It is unlikely that the update had anything to do with the missing Bluetooth.

  • The Software Update failed Sony Xperia Z1

    Hi There
I have just tried to update my sony experia to the latest version of Android using Sony bridge for MAC. For some reason the update failed, now the phone is no longer recongnised by the Sony bridge for MAC software and hence the upgrade cannot be re attempted. I have tried "resetting" the phone using the power and + volume button, and have also tried the red reset button that is adjacent to the sim card. Failing all of the above "fixes" what is the last resort to restore this phone?
Unfortuantely I only have access to a mac computer so cannot try a PC.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
First of all you need to turn off the phone:
Press and hold "Power Button" and "Volume Up" at the same time for 10 seconds (until you feel 3 vibrations) = Force shutdown.
Then charge the battery for at least an hour.
    After that follow these steps:
"The phone should not be connected to the MAC.
    The phone should be off.
After the Download unzip the file and drag the bridge for MAC icon to the Applications folder. (install then use finder to locate icon)
In the Main "No phone connected" window, on the top menu (top application menu) Select "Phone" and scroll down to "Repair phone"
This will open the Phone Software Restore window with the 3 sections for Start, Prepare and Update.
Click on continue bellow. Doing so will popup a window warning you about the loss of your personal info. Click on the checkmark signaling that you understand the data loss situation,
This will take you to the Connection Procedure Screen.
Follow the instructions in the screen and click on continue*.
*One key aspect of the last step to keep holding the indicated button before and after you connect the phone to the MAC until the update starts. IF this is not done correctly then the phone won't connect to the MAC."

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I suggest that you disconnect the phone from any kind of power source > Hold the ON/OFF button + volume up(+) for 10 seconds and the phone should power off completely. When the phone is off, you can perform a software repair on your phone via PC Companion:
    http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

  • My phone has frozen while trying to do the iOS8 update. Help please

What do i do. Can i get it to reset so i can restore from my back up.

You'll have to be more specific as to how did it freeze. At which stage of the iOS8 update and also roughly how long has it stopped moving for.
Option A - Wait for another 15-20 minutes
Option B - Perform a reset by unplugging the iPhone and holding the home button and power button together for 10-20s. Replug the device into iTunes and select restore from backup (latest timestamp).
