The sound on my G5 imac disappears when playing itunes

The sound on my imac just cuts out when playing itunes. If I press the Sound Increse or Decrease button on the keyboard it comes back - for a while !
The problem doesn't seem to be affected by anything else running.
The only thing that does seem to have an effect it is the volume - the lower the volume, the oftner it happens.
Anybody help me?

One thing that helped was getting a toothbrush and scrubbing the dock connector on the phone.  I scrubbed the connector and used compressed air for about 1/2 hour till the connector looked much cleaner.  An Apple employee told me that the pins on the phone had a little corrosion and sand.  The problem hasn't gone away completely, but has been significantly reduced.  I'm going to hold out until my contract expires after which time I'll switch to an iPhone5 (or newer) or Android phone.

  • How do i fix the sound on an iPhone 4S? When i play music the sound bar at the bottom disappeared and when i try to adjust sound with the buttons on the side, nothing happens. Also the sound in my apps is not working.

The sound isn't working. And it also does not appear, when i try to adjuct it with the buttons the sound bar doesn't appear and when i try playing music at the bottom the sound bar disappeared. How do I fix this?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.  Have you gone through ALL of these troubleshooting steps?
If you have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • The sounds for my iPad have disappeared....

The sounds for my iPad have disappeared....I can play music, but everything else is gone!  I have tried turning it off and on, reset it several times and still nothing...any suggestions?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

  • When instant streaming Netflix on my Macbook Pro, the sound is very very low even when sound controls are set at highest level.

When instant streaming Netflix on my Macbook Pro, the sound is very very low even when sound controls are set at highest level.  I do not have this problem when listening to TV or watching movies streamed from DishNetwork.  I contacted Netflix and they had me install a newer version of their software Silverlight... this did nothing to resolve the issue.  They were not familiar with the issue.

Well if your on 10.6.2, you need to software update to 10.6.8
Perhaps you need to adjust the Silverlight (Microsoft DRM video plug-in) sound level itself too
Run a check here to see if your current on your Silverlight (works for all browsers)
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
Use another browser like Firefox and see if it continues.
Try another video file. They all have their own sound levels too.

  • Can I put ALL the sound output from my iMac through Airport?

Just got Airport Express, and managed to install it very quickly on my existing Belkin network. Just don't forget the $ before your WEP key.
Does anyone know if its possible to put ALL the sound output from my iMac through to Airport, rather than just iTunes? So internet radio, streaming videos etc?

Thanks matey - that's just what I was after.
Not sure if that will also let me put my iMac's system sounds through my HiFi - probably not - but then who in their right mind could possibly want to...?
(Be nice if you could though)

  • When playing iTunes from 2006 MacBook via Airport Express remote stereo speakers, the music keeps dropping in and out

I've tried hours and a trip to the Apple Store to resolve this problem, and no luck so far.
We have two Airport Expresses -- one is an older "g" version (from 2006), one is a newer "n" version (a couple of years old).
We have one older MacBook (from June 2006) (so it can only use "g" wireless and also cannot be upgraded to OS X 10.7 "Lion").
We have one MacBook Air and an iMac (both less than a year old), an iPad (about 2 months old), and a recently acquired AppleTV (in the past few weeks).
We also have two iPhones that do use our local wireless network on occassion.
We have stereo speakers that are currently connected into one of the Airport Expresses.
For years (until the past few weeks) I played music from iTunes on my first generation MacBook to the speakers with no problems (using the older "g" Airport Express).  Recently, however, when playing music remotely over the speakers we have gotten fairly regular (though at random intervals) drops of the music in and out (drops are for a second or two each).  So far, here's what we've tried to do:
    (1)     Went to the Apple Store, where they thought the problem might be compatability between the g and n equipment in our house.  They suggested that we get an Airport Extreme and use that as the base so that 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz networks could each be set up, allowing the two systems to play nicely.  Spent a couple of hours setting everything up.  No dice.
    (2)     The skipping happens even when (a) I turn off the Apple TV; and/or (b) turn off the older Airport Express and just use the Extreme and the "n" Express (with the "n" Express as the connection to the stereo).
    (3)      When I have the wireless network drop-down menu selected on my MacBook, the skipping occurs immediately after the computer is "looking for networks" (as shown at the top of the menu).  The computer does this at random intervals on a regular basis.  The skipping, however, will occur even if the menu is not selected.
    (4)     Here's the weirdest part.  The skipping has even occured when playing iTunes from our newish iMac, with the older MacBook shut down, with the older Airport Express shut down.  In this case, the skipping only appears to occur when we have the wireless network drop-down menu selected and again, it occurs when the computer is "looking for networks" which occurs at random intervals.  In this situation, the skipping only seems to occur when the menu is selected.
At this point, if I can't find another solution, I'm going to return the Airport Extreme, and just give up playing music over our stereo speakers from the MacBook (and instead transfer music to the iMac and play from it).  But I thought I'd try a last-ditch effort to ask for help to see if anyone could figure out what might be causing the problem.  I would chalk it up to the problems of using my old "g" network MacBook on a newer "n" system (though I'm not about to spend $1K+ to upgrade my laptop just for this), but for (4) above, which seems to indicate something else is going on.
Any help would be most appreciated!

Unfortunately, your description of the problem and the placement of both your main and AirPort Express routers does lend itself to believe the problem is most likely Wi-Fi interference. If it isn't the microwave or portable phones, it could be obstacles like walls between the routers that may be preventing the stream from consistently reaching the Express.
In your configuration, the stream will first travel to the main router, and then, from the main router to the AirPort Express. If, for example, you started the stream in the same room as the Express, that stream would have to travel across several rooms at least twice.

  • Layer disappears when playing from Flash Player

I have a dotted line animation in a layer. It shows up fine
when dropping to IE window but it disappears when playing from
inside Flash Player 7. Maybe it needs a newer version to play it
correctly but it's just a layer with a line in it. The SWF is
created with Flash CS3. Maybe Flash Player 7 comes from Studio 8
that is also on the PC.

I just found that it plays fine on Flash Player 9 which comes
with CS3. Some of the features probably are not compatible with
    Player 7.

  • Why Only when playing iTunes I have no audio, no sound?

Why Only when playing iTunes I have no audio, no sound after setting up Apple TV? Worked fine before that.

I had this problem, too. It was on my phone, though, but it seems to be a problem that many people have.
I have fixed it. It cost me 99 cents.
My phone said I had 247 photos/videos. Itunes said I had 1700+. Both said that Photos & Video were taking up 10.8 GB of storage.
On my phone, I went to Settings --> iCloud --> Storage --> Change Storage Plan
    I selected the 20GB plan for $0.99 a month
Then, I went to Settings --> iCloud --> Photos
I enabled My Photo Stream (slider to the right/green)
Then, I got on WiFi. I don't know how long it took, certainly not long enough to upload gigabytes of data, but I saw that my Photos & Camera app was using a far more reasonable amount of storage (1.3 GB, rather than 10.8 GB). I checked this by going to
Settings --> General --> Usage --> Manage Storage
Because I don't want the 20GB iCloud plan, I went back to
Settings --> iCloud --> Storage --> Change Storage Plan --> Downgrade Options (at the bottom)
... and I selected the 5 GB Free plan again.
    Now for a little rant.
I am very unhappy that I had to give Apple one thin dime to have this fixed. After spending a couple of hours trying to figure out why I can barely use any storage on my phone, I had to pay to fix it. Ridiculous.
I still enjoy using Apple products, but I enjoy using them less and less over time. Not only is every release of iTunes less usable than the previous one, the last one wouldn't even install on my machine. That was about another six hours lost trying to figure out the problem.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".

    Hi @Gobbling_Monkey ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome.  I have looked into your issue with the sound not working correctly from your HP ENVY 17j100 Notebook.  The first thing to try is this
    1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
    2. Click Playback Devices.
    3. Click Speakers.
    4. Click properties.
    5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
    6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
    7. Apply the properties.
    8. Click OK to close the properties window. Restart your Notebook.
If this does not help try HP support document No Sound from Speakers. It has a number of good troubleshooting steps including using the built-in Windows troubleshooter.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system  that might need updating. If an update is needed this could cause sound issues.
The Troubleshooting tool in Windows 8 can automatically fix common problems with your computer, such as audio recording. Here is a link to this.
If you still want to disable or uninstall the Beats follow these instructions. To enable or disable Beats Audio, press the fn key in combination with the b key. The Jack does have influence on the Beats Audio which might need to be turned off.
Here is a document on how to uninstall software. The bottom link shows you how to disable software.
Hope this is what you need.

  • The sound of my recording has disappeared - how do I turn it back on?

I made a recording of an internet radio program today, and was editing it (splitting off the unuseful beginning and end, and deleting them) when the sound of the track disappeared. The graph is still there, just no sound. The exported file to mp3 - iplayer is mute too.
When I open a different file that I recorded and edited earlier today it works fine.
What can I do to turn the sound back on?

  • Does the sound of your caller get reduced when you speak at the same time?

    Hi everyone,
I'm noticing some strange behaviour of my iPhone 3G's audio on the O2 network here in the UK. Both O2 & the iPhone are new to me so I don't know which is the cause, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this 'problem'? What happens is this:
When I'm on a call with my ear to the iPhone's earpiece (or using headphones) & I speak whilst the caller is speaking (or let's say I'm chatting to my wife in the same room as me whilst I'm listening to 'hold music'), I've noticed that *the volume & call-quality of the incoming line is often reduced*.
Initally this might not seem a problem, BUT, there have definitely been a view times when I've been in a noisy environment (such as street traffic, or my kids shouting & playing in the background) where I've missed things that the caller told me. In both these situations, I've noticed that the caller's voice has got quieter, sounded 'grainy' or even sometimes gone totally quiet until the sound from me (or my environment) has stopped. The 'problem' seems to right itself a minute or so of the call, but that's little consolation to the first 60 seconds of the call!
It's most noticeable on headphones by the way; As a test, I plugged in regular headphones to my iPhone (i.e. not the iPhone IEMs with the mic), called a landline phone-line with a pre-recorded message, then spoke into the iPhone's built-in microphone. Every time I did this, the incoming audio signal was 'turned down' &/or sounded gritty, then returns to normal when I (or my background noise) went quiet.
I don't think this is a fault with my phone. but more either an iPhone 3G hardware 'characteristic', v2 software bug, or network issue. (O2 said they've never heard of this before of course...)
If anyone else has the time to try this out please, I'd appreciate it
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hi Quickdraw,
    Thanks for your reply.
I don't know this for sure, but I think it has EVERYTHING to do with bandwidth.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense... I was making calls on 2G/Edge at the time of my 'tests' rather than 3G, partly due to battery-saving but also that 2G still has much better coverage over here (just as you guys in the States seem to be experiencing).
I've done some more tryouts today, & noticed that if the 2G signal is really strong, OR if I switch to 3G & have a reasonable-to-good reception, the 'incoming-signal-dropping-out-when-I-talk' doesn't happen much at all...
So, the bandwidth thing does make sense, but it's interesting/annoying that it manifests itself as "one good-quality voice OR the other", rather than "full-duplex-but-not-so-great-for-both-voices" sound...
If anyone in the UK can feed back their experience with O2, I'd appreciate it please. (I never had this issue in the 10 years I was with Orange..)
    Cheers,
    Jason
