Hi, i can't seem to get Itunes 8 to run. Each time after the installer is launched, it has an error message that says "The system encountered error before Itunes could be configured. Your systems has not been modified. To try this application at a later time, please run the installer again."
I am using windows vista home premium and a iTouch
I am running out of ideas

I am trying to install iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop and get this error:

Arghhhhh!! I've tried different browsers and various other things suggested on other posts to no availOk people, I think I have found the solution !
If you click on the start button from your desktop screen.
Then in the "search programs and files" field type : apple software update - you can find the apple installer.
Click on the apple software update line and let the machine run it's course. I recommend updating whatever it wants to , ie: safari 5, quicktime, itunes....
I then restarted my computer and it seems to be working now !

What do I do when I am trying to install my new version of itunes, and it says this: The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified.
I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.

When trying to download iTunes, I get an error message saying "the instaler encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occured during installation." But it gives me no more information as to what I can do. Help please?
Also I now can`t access any of my itunes library and am concerned that if I remove it from my computer I will lose everything as I have no option of accessing and therefore backing anything up. Any ideas?

I've been having trouble with my computer ever since I turned it back on after leaving for six months and now every time I try to install certain things or update things it says there's an error that occurs and it's keeping me from downloading stuff like Google Chrome and iTunes. I am having a similar problem, except I'm running Vista 32 bit. I haven't had issues with any other software but iTunes is giving me no end of trouble. The problem started when I tried updating to the .4 version of iTunes when it first came out. I could still use the program and transfer data from iTunes to my iPhone so I didn't worry too much about it. Recently though I wanted to upgrade my iPhone software but received a message saying I need to upgrade my iTunes before I can upgrade my iPhone. After a few tries iTunes won't even RECOGNIZE my iPhone. I keep getting an error that the mobile device recognition isn't working.
I tried uninstalling iTunes and installing the new download directly from the iTunes website. I used Chrome, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer with the same results. I think my computer may be corrupted and I need to wipe the harddrive. I really don't want to get to that point but if someone smarter then me doesn't have answer soon I think that is my only option. -
I began this trouble shooting exercise by selecting Download Only through the Apple Update applet. Running the msi manually did not resolve the problem. In fact, it was more frustrating because the download package would disappear after running even though it failed, and I had to download it again. "Cleanup" I suppose. <frown>
I followed advice to remove the Apple Software Update program, reboot and re-run the msi. That did not resolve the failure.
I then followed advice to set permissions for Administrators on registry key HKLM\Software\Micorosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Com ponents
then reboot and run the update msi again. This also did not resolve the failure.
I downloaded the installer from the Apple download site as though it were a fresh install, and - voila! - it installed correctly and all content and settings were preserved. Hopefully that is all that is needed, not the steps above. Let me know! http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ -

Installer is being run as admin. Bonjour service is installed and running.
The lack of information is a bit frustrating... nothing in event viewer that I can see..For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Everytime I try to install the new itunes it come up with the following message: ' The installer encountered errors before itunes could be configured, Errors occured during installation, your system has not been modified. Please run installer again or click exit' I've tried to install it multiple times now and get the same message everytime. I've also tried re installing itunes 10, but when I go to open it it comes up with the message 'The files itunes libray.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes'. Please help.

ITunes 7.3 installer "encountered errors before iTunes could be configured"
I was able to originally install itunes 7.3.1.3 (upgraded from 7.2) and use it with my iphone (activated/synced for 2 weeks with no problems). I had a problem due to a disk full which corruped Outlook.
I cleared substantial disk space, reinstalled Outlook 2003. This seemed to have corrupted the iTunes sync function, so I uninstalled iTunes (using Add/Remove Programs control panel), and have since been trying to reinstall. I am continually getting the "iTunes installer Completed - The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured" error message.
I have read many messages and suggestions in these discussions, and already tried the following:
Completely uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime (iTunes no longer shows up in the Add/Remove programs or using the Windows install cleanup utility) follwing all the steps listed in "Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698.
Quicktime (version 7.2 Pro) is currently installed. I can cleanly install/remove Quicktime alone with no errors, but not using the combined quicktime/iTunes installer.
I have tried redownloading the itunes installer several times, and even used the Apple Software update download only option and then manually running the itunes.msi file, but still get the same error.
I have tried manually removing all instances of iTunes/iPod/activesync/iphone that I can find in the registry and all the iTunes/iPod folders as the above knowlege base article instructs.
There must still be some other remnant of the old install, because if I try to install iTtunes 7.2, I get an error message that a later version is already installed, but I have not been able to find anything else.
I have even enabled the verbose logging, the error seems to occur in this section of the log:

Any suggestions on what else I can try would be appreciated. One of the main reasons I need sync my ipnone to my work windows machine is to keep my Outlook contacts and calendar. I have no problems with iTunes on my macs.

If anyone is weary enough to come to this forum to solve this problem, here is one solution that worked for me & it may work for you if you encounter the error:

1. Use a trustworthy registry cleaner to clean your registry such as Ccleaner or Advanced System Care. This step may not be necessary though.
2. Go to "C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData(Hidden)\Local\Temp" & delete everything in it.
3. If step 2 still doesn't allow you to install Safari, then try:
4. Open Start type "CMD" in the search button, then in the cmd prompt "Regedt32"
5. In the reg editor open:
"Computer" / "HKEYCURRENTUSER" / "Software" / "Apple Computer, Inc." & try deleting the entries for any Apple programs that may be causing any conflicts.
Be aware that any programs that you delete registry entries for may not function correctly afterwards or need to be reinstalled, but this more drastic measure should hopefully allow the installation of Safari browser.
Hope this helps any further visitors to this forum looking to solve this problem it worked for me, good luck.

I try to check this file in my C:\ Drive but unfortunately i can't find it and i can't install the iTunes 8.2..... and the bad thing is i can't f#*******ing use my new iPhone 3GS....
Please help me or otherwise maybe just return it to the shop and get something else instead of this new iPhone 3GS...... too much trouble.... -

Version 10.6 installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured
I have a Windows desktop and run Windows Vista Home Premium. I have been tryin gto update iTunes for quite some time and with each new version that comes out I get the same installer encountered errors message. I have tried several fixes that are posted online, but none seem to work

I tried everything and iTunes is still not installing. And I keep receiving that message and this one: There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Please Help?!
