The User Name in Mavericks Mail mail preferences Not Correctible
Hi all,
The User Name in Mavericks Mail mail preferences is incorrect for one of my accounts, so the account won't function. It keeps asked for the password. When I change it to the correct User Name and go to the account, the entry automatically switches back to the incorrect User Name. How do I fix this?

The root user is NOT the owner of that little house. That belongs to the user that's logged in. To change that, see Changing user account shortname.
BTW, you're a youngster.

I had a power failure 2 days ago, my computer is running again, but now I cannot send email from my iPad using Cox or my gmail account. I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account.It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I have not changed anything. I don't know what is wrong. Can anyone help me? ThanksI agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end. -
I want to sync my I phone user name (my current e-mail address) with my iPad, PC user name (old e-mail address.) If I delete that current address in the iPhone, won't I also be deleting it in my other devices? They are synced. I don't want to lose it. I just want to get it out of the way on my iphone so it doesn't confuse the transfer of ID names and then I want it back again.. I tried deleting the cloud account, being told the current e-mails would be spared. But all it did was pop up a prompt asking me for the password to my still current email ID. So I assume now that I have to go to mail and get rid of the e-mail account. But I'm scared I'll lose everything in my other devices too.
You can change the email address you use as your apple ID. this doesn't mean you have to delete the old email address as email.
When you delete an email from your device, it is only removed from the device, it does not delete your emails or the email account. -

Never had trouble before with my incoming mail but just now getting messege that says the user name or password for verizon is incorrect yet my home computer is fine only have this od my iPad
I experienced same problem tonight and called Verizon technical support and they walked me through the settings on iPad. Took about 5 minutes. Basically it involved changing incoming.verizon.net to pop.verizon.net and changing outgoing.verizon.net to smtp.verizon.net. But it's worth the call to ensure other settings are OK. Evidently, change at Verizon was effective today!

You need to contact the email provider and reset your information. All your iPhone does is send the information to the provider and they are stating your username or password are incorrect. If you contact the provider they can help you reset it so it will work with your phone

I try to send some report using the broadcasting. It`s work fine, but I want use the User name and not e-mail address to do this. In BW SU01 I create e-mail address to user but its not work.
How can I mapping this.

Just what it says...you're not using the correct username and password for your outgoing mail server. -
I have tried to add a hotmail account to Thunderbird because my Internet provider will stop e-mail support in the near future. I was able to add a hotmail account to Thunderbird, but I get the following error message when I try to receive e-mail in this hotmail account: "Configuration could not be verified – is the user name or password wrong?" (The hotmail website receives the e-mail.) User name and password is certainly correct. I have a 8.1 OS. Thank you.
got an anti virus that thinks it should scan email. Turn that function off.
Have a firewall, check that Thunderbird has full internet access, not some Auto rubbish that somehow fails. -

I do not know what imap.gmail is. I have also lost data which was contained on my diary which I believe is linked to the problem. Does anyone recognise this problem?

imap.gmail is the Google mail server. It doesn't recognize the password that is stored in the iPhone. The problem is that the password or email address you have in Settings for the gmail account is wrong. If you changed the password somewhere else that is the reason. You need to go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the gmail account and enter the correct password. You also need to change it for outgoing mail in Settings. -
I Can not open my email, Never had this problem... Message says: CAN NOT OPEN MAIL, The user name or password for "HOTMAIL" is incorrect.
What is going on???????Check your email settings (on your iPad) for that account and make sure the username and/or password are correct.

Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.

I have not once had an issue with this. I have not changed my password or anything. I have the iPhone 4. All of a sudden, the message error pops up that says " Cannot get Mail" The User name or Password for Suddenlink is incorrect. Please help!!!!!!
