The version 30.0 do not allow me to open a new tab in my MAC.

Simply when clicking in the sign + for a new tab it does not work.
All the options on the "preferences" and "tab" are marked.

We have recently seen reports about a Community Toolbar extension causing this issue with not being able to open a new tab.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Firefox will not allow me to open a new tab, how do I fix this?

    I really hate having to use two windows instead of being able to use tabs.

    Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
    There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • The latest version of iTunes does not allow me to open a playlist in a separate window.  I need this feature.  Is there another way?  You used to be able to double click a playlist and have it appear in a new window.

    Others have commented on this too.  It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development.  You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of  progress.

    The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.

  • When entering a new website it overrides the previous site, how can i get it to open a new tab instead

    I DON'T KNOW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, I JUST THOUGHT THAT IF THERE IS A WAY TO OPEN A NEW TAB EACH TIME YOU ENTER A NEW WEBSITE WITHOUT OVERRIDING THE PREVIOUS ONE. YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO REMEMBER TO ENTER THE PLUS SIGN EACH TIME YOU WANT TO OPEN A NEW WEBSITE.

    The setting in Tools > Options > Tabs: "New pages should be opened in": "a new tab/window" is for links that specify a target window to open the link.
    That option allows to divert such links to a new tab instead of a new window.
    For links that do not specify a target use a middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the link or use the right-click context menu to open the link in a new tab or window.<br />
    Left-click a JavaScript link to avoid getting a blank tab.

  • When clicking on links that open in a new window, the links don't open and Firefox freezes in a way. I can navigate the page I am on but cannot click to open a new tab or bookmark.

    When navigating the internet, if I come across a web page that has a link to open a picture or program in a new window, if I click on it, it does not open. Firefox immediately looses functionality in that I cannot open a new tab with the mouse wheel, right click to open a new tab, or use my bookmarks in either the drop down or toolbar to navigate away. I can usually still navigate the page that I am on, for example, (https://loanconsolidation.ed.gov/AppEntry/apply-online/appindex.jsp), when it freezes I cannot click on any of the content at the center of the page but I can still use the links from the list on the far left. For an example of the pictures, (http://www.insect-sale.com/), if you click on "New Arrivals" at the top of the page it takes you to a list of products that can only be viewed by clicking on them. Usually a picture of the item would open in a small window but it does not and Firefox freezes. This has also happen when I try a view a degree audit on a school's website where a program would usually open in a new window. The only thing I have been able to find that still functions properly when this happens is the home page button. I can click on it or use the wheel to open it in a tab just fine, but if I try and go anywhere else I cannot. The only way I can get Firefox back to normal is to use the Task Manager and end the process. Another thing I have noticed, that may or may not be related; is that my Norton Internet Security toolbar, that should show up below the bookmarks toolbar and above the tabs, only shows up about 1 out of every 10 times I open Firefox. Some days it doesn't show up at all. If it does show up and I log into Identity Safe, the autofill for the programed website works, even if the toolbar doesn't show up the next time I open Firefox.

    Go to Tools->Options->Apps
    Here you should see two columns: Content Type on the left, Actions on the right.
    Find and select excel spreadsheet or any other content type in the left column. There should be a corresponding action in the right column. What is it? You can use the drop-down list to select the option you want:
    Always Ask - Firefox will ask each time: What do you want to do with this file?
    Save file - Firefox will save this file to your computer
    Use - Firefox will give this file to the program to open it
    In case of saving, Firefox will either prompt you every time where you want the file to be saved, or save it to the default location. It depends on the preference in
    Tools->Options->General->Download

  • The new update does not allow me to start a new tab in the browser

    After updating Firefox for Mac, Command-T, the prompt in the File menu, nor the + by the open tab will start a new tab.

  • Why is my I Web not allowing me to open a new page?

    I open the iWeb application and in the site organizer is one website (My Homepage.) I recently deleted all of the pages underneath this website and now when I open iweb the website it listed but I cant add a new page or a new website. Everything is greyed out. When I go to File-Close it closes out the whole application. I want to create a new website and get rid of this old one. Help! Thank you!

    Try opening iPhoto and, using the iWeb icon from the toolbar at the bottom of the iPhoto window, send some pics to iWeb. Many times this will "awaken" the greyed out menu options. If it doesn't work the first time, try it again, even a third time. We had a post recently from someone who fixed the problem this way on the third try with iPhoto.

  • Since downloading then deleting somthing I did not want, whenever I open a new tab in Firefox, Yahoo pops up asking me to make it my default browser. I have disabled the Yahoo 'Add On' but it makes no diference?

    MY FIREFOX HOME PAGE IS GOOGLE
    I DO NOT WANT YAHOO WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN INSTALLED MALICIOUSLY.
    HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?

    Tried that. Also tried SUPERAntiSpyware, ccleaner, HitmanPro. Removed anything that was reported. Problem persists.
    Chrome is also affected. But couldn't find any alternative way of not having Ask.com loaded as did in Firefox.
    Internet Explorer was initially affected. After the Ask.com search engine is removed that problem appears to have gone away.
    12/9/2014
    Interestingly, yesterday afternoon the Chrome browner new tab no longer hijacked by Ask.com. The symptom was there in the morning and had gone away in the late afternoon. Nothing was done except a few days ago I blocked everything on that page. The problem with Firefox continue to persist I didn't do the same blocking on it. I am going to try the same and then use anti-spyware to clear away all cookies and see what happens.

  • Clicked on any the link searched by using google or yahoo, it opened a new tab on latest update. Why's not direct the link on the same tab like last update?

    When I'm using google, yahoo or ask, or any search engine website. I did any random research used and clicked on any link searched by google, it immediately opened and directed me to the new tab to the link that I just clicked. My question is: Why isn't direct the link that I want to load on the same tab? It didn't happen on the last update. Is this a bug? If it's not then is there any solution? Maybe the setting. I will thanks and appreciate for any help.

    Opening the results in the same tab or in a new tab can be set via the search settings page of the Google and Yahoo! sites.
    For the Google website you can set your preferences on the Google.com page via the gear icon at the top right, click that button to open the menu list and select Search settings.
    * http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en
    * Results Window: Open search results in a new browser window.
    For Yahoo! on the Yahoo! search page via:
    *http://search.yahoo.com/
    *More > Preferences > Display & Layout > Open results in a new tab or window

    OS Windows 7 Home Edition.
    Firefox Version 3,6,16

  • FF5 does not seem to supports opening a new tab from my search box. Why? this is an important feature for browsing.

    When I was running FF3.X, I used the Google search bar to replace the standard FF search box. In that, I enabled the "open searches in new Tab" feature. This is highly efficient for browsing, as it doesn't leave the current pages I'm on. Frequently I will be running multiple tabs, and it's annoying to have to open once I've selected a new tab. Is there a compatible add-on to help me with this?

    Yes it was an add on called net assistant by freeze.com and I have found that, disabled it and intend to uninstall it, it must of come in with something else, I did not down load it specifically. Thanks

  • Is there anyway to get the "Search with google" feature in Safari to automatically open in new tab?

    Is there any way to get the "Search with google" feature in safari to automatically open the link in a new tab?
    I am indifferent as to the solution, whether it be an extension, plug-in or apple script using automator as long as it is well documented.
    Have yet to see an elegant solution.

    Hold down the command key while selecting the menu item.

  • Whenever I click the + Tab to open a new tab, it doesn't do anything. It seems like it has a safety lock on or something. It will not allow me to open up another tab in the same window.

    I try to open up another webpage on the same window, by clicking on the + Tab Button next to the current webpage Im viewing. For some reason it will not do anything. It will not open up.

    This problem has been associated with the Ask toolbar. You could try disabling it here:
    Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
    You may want to update to 3.6.17 to take advantage of security fixes.

  • I have Ver. 3.6.13 and I have reinstalled to no avail. My TABS do not work, I cannot open a new tab...either from the '+' tab or from within the 'File' menu

    Everything else seems to work fine. But I cannot open tabs. I just downloaded the latest and same version and reinstalled. That did not work.
    Thank you

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
