The volume slide keeps disappearing.

The volume slide keeps disappearing and i click on the airplay button and it gives my the option of AppleTv and Dock Connector but it's not connected to a Dock. The sound works when i connect headphones/earphones and also works when i DO connect it to a dock, it hasn't seemed to effect the calls either but notification sounds and playing music/videos in apps or iPod don't always work. This only happenes 70/80% of the time...

Thanks for your solution, it wasn't quite what solved the problem but i remembered that i had a bit of salt water on my phone recently and spraying the charging port with an anti-oxide spray solved my problem, do you mind if i ask, how is the charging port related with the volume or/and speakers?

  • The volume slide control on my 4s has disappeared when I watch videos and listen to music. Any suggestion on how to get it back? I've tried the recommendations in the manual

The volume slide control on my iPhone 4S has disappeared when I play videos, music and YouTube. I've tried the recommendations in manual, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Your phone still thinks it is plugged into the stereo. I don't remember how to solve this but perhaps you can search through the forum or maybe one of the members here will jump in on how to switch the playback to speakers.

  • The volume control has disappeared from the music app on my iPhone and i can't play any music how do i fix this?

The volume control has disappeared from the music app on my iPhone and i can't play any music how do i fix this?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

  • Certain apps causing the volume slider not to function properly.

I recently purchased an iPod touch 3g. Everything was working great until I purchased this app. I got Earthworm Jim and the game runs great, no problems playing the game. Now when I quit the game and go to my music library and play a song or a video the volume slider won't work properly. When I try movingIt, it keeps moving back to it's previous position. To fix the issue I have to either plug the iPod to my comp or restart it. Now this only happens after I quit "Earthworm Jim" or "Cooking Dash". Two games that has in game music (a feature that let's you play ur own music while playing the game". Anyone experiencing this issue?

I have the same experience with the sticking volume slider, after I played Asphalt 5. This game also has in game music, but the problem also exists, if I let the game play the generic music of the app.
Seems to me, that this is a common app vs. OS software trouble and the only solution, that works on my iPhone, is to turn on the voice memo app and quit it. After that the slider works well in the iPod app.
Apple, please develop an update to fix that issue soon!

  • Volume slider keeps dissapearing - iphone 5

I Have an iPhone 5 and am having issues with the volume slider, as it keeps dissapearing.
Restatying rting the phone by holding down the home and standby button temporarily fixes the issue but it doesn't take long for it it come back.
Cant hear any sounds other than when the phone rings or an alarm is going off.
the slider reappears though when headphones are Inserted.
A couple of months ago I took my phone to the Apple Store for them to clean out both the headphone hole and the charging hole as they were full of dust, coukd this be related to my new issue?

    Hey dargan,
Thanks for the question. Dust and debris can definitely lead to this issue. If there is any sort of debris in the headphone or lighting port, the phone might think that there’s an accessory connected. For more information, see this resource:

  • Iphone volume slider has disappeared

The volume slider on my iphone has disappeared and it wont play music from itunes, apps, videos or anything else I've tried. I have tried using the external volume controls on the side and  its not on silent. I have also tried resetting a couple of times but this hasn't helped.

I had the same problem. My iPhone recognizes that it is connected to a music dock and the phone speaker won’t work.
It’s definitely a hardware problem APPLE could have solved by software. With that problem when using VIBER you can select the sound output either to music dock, earpiece, or phone speaker. APPLE just needed to implement the same in the phone SETTING.
So how to solve without APPLE support? (Getting APPLE support is best but in my case the nearest APPLE store is hundreds of kilometers from my residence, so not worth enough). First I cleaned the connector pins and put a silicon dust cap (with two tongues) which more or less squeezes the inner connector pins and the volume slider and sound was back. When I remove the cap for charging the volume slider and sound disappear again (not immediately but sooner or later).
Since whether connected to a music dock or not is recognized by the resistance between two pins on the connector, for me it seems that the cap made the resistance go to infinity which was close to the dock connection value without (why, I have no idea, the air moisture?).

    Try A and B
    (A) Restart iPad
    1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
    3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • How can I re-enable the volume slider?

Sometimes I want to play around with the volume curve, and sometimes that doesn't work out or isn't needed anymore. But when I delete all volume curve points (i.e. click left of the curve, press backspace) the volume slider doesn't come back. It seems like a bug, anybody know a workaround?

its not a bug. click on the little upside down triangle just to the left of the volume knob. after you click on the triangle the track volume will appear with a rectangular blue box click on that to turn off the volume curves.
By the way if you on the words track volume the track pan will also appear.

  • Where is the volume slider in iTunes 12.0.1?

where is the volume slider in iTunes 12.0.1?

try dragging the corners to make the itunes window bigger .... the volume slider will show up

  • Can the volume slider show value in non-DB?

I remember seeing the volume slider in the channel strip showing normal number values instead of db, but I cannot find a way to changes this. Anyone knows?
    André

The worst part is that once you get used to using the db scale, and then open an old song that is set to numbers (MIDI 0-127) there is no way to set it to db. Why ever remove a function?

  • I have iMovie application open, but the iMovie application keeps disappearing off the right hand side of the screen and and I can not see it, even though the application is open..help, please!

I have iMovie application open, but the iMovie application keeps disappearing off the right hand side of the screen and and I can not see it, even though the application is open..help, please!

Thanks. I don't know why it wouldn't just go back there when I tried putting it back? I didn't change anything, so I assumed the new "default" was over on the left. Glad it was a simple solution after all.

  • Lost the volume slider

After installing the newest version of iPhone this afternoon I have lost the volume slider. Any help would be appreciated.

  • The volume slowly increases to the 100% even when I set the volume slider to 1%...

When I try to set the volume lower on my PC, it quickly increases to 100% volume, even when I set the volume slider to 1 or 2%. When I set it to 0%, however, it does mute the volume. It's rediculous! I just want quieter music, but I am constantly blasted by maxed out volume...

A stuck multimedia key on your keyboard to increase the volume perhaps? iTunes won't change the volume of its own accord. Perhaps there is an option in your control panel to disable the function.
