There are many jre exe files: what are the differences and which I choose?

Having some problems, that I will describe in another message, I was looking for the latest jre.
I saw that on www.java.com there is 6 update 1, whereas on www.sun.com there is already 6 update 2. So, I would like to know when an update is made available on www.java.com and through automatic updates?
Also, I saw different names, and I would like to understand in an exact way what are the differences:
jre-6-windows-i586.exe;
jre-6-windows-i586-iftw.exe;
jre-6u1-windows-i586-p-s.exe;
jre-6u1-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe;
jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe;
jre-6u2-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe;
I understand that te iftw part means the it is a small download, only the setup module. But why there are some files that end with "-p", some with "-p-s", sm with "-i586"?
Thank You

The question mark icon on the dlls indicates that LabVIEW is unsure of
the location of the DLL, or is unable to locate the DLL on your
system.  This can happen if the DLLs do not exist, or if the "Call
Library Function Node" just specifies the name of the dll, and not the
entire path to the dll.  IVI and Instrument driver VIs will
typically not supply the entire path to the DLL, whch would cause the
question mark icon to appear.
If your application is working properly, then you should ignore the
question mark in the dependencies list.  If your application is
broken because the DLLs cannot be found, they are installed with the
following drivers:
ivi.dll is installed with the IVI compliance package, which is available at the following link:
Drivers and Updates: IVI Compliance Package
You should also install the latest version of NI-VISA, which is required by the IVI Compliance Package:
Drivers and Updates: NI-VISA
ag3325b_32.dll is installed with the your instrument's IVI driver, which can be found below:

There is not much difference between Z77A-GD55 and -GD65. GD65 is a bit better than GD55 for oc and offers easy voltage check points. The slot layout is also a bit different. Looking at the price point the GD55 is m ost likely the better deal. You can compare mainboards using the following link:

  • I exported a iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using BURN app, burned to DVD and exported to a USB flashdrive. The DVD looks great but flashdrive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make flashdrive sharper?

I exported an iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using the BURN app, burned it to a DVD and exported it to a USB flash drive. The DVD looks great and very sharp but the slideshow on the USB flash drive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make the slideshow on the flash drive look as sharp as the DVD?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • What's the difference and purpose of Keywording and metadata such as title and caption etc?

What's the difference and purpose of Keywording and metadata such as title and caption, crator, sublocation , label etc?  Where & how is the information used?  Where does it appear?

Keywording is primarily for your own use for finding photos fast.
Title, Caption, etc are also for your own use but can be used by your clients or your stock company if you do not <Minimize Embedded Metadata> on export. Keywords are also included on export but are hardly of any use to others - unless you follow a standard for keywording.
You have the option of selecting title, caption, etc to appear in a Slide Show, on Print, or on a webpage created with LR.
If you go to the LR Help menu and type "title", or "caption" in the search box you will find plenty of advice for this.

I don't see any DDR3L on the page for the RAM that would fit your model -> http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_133 3MHz_SDRAM.
But the answer is that it doesn't really matter - just make certain to get 1333MHz.

  • Importing/adding files - What's the difference

What's the differnce between importing a song or folder of songs and adding a file or folder?

Import is generally used to rip songs from a CD onto your computer. Add a file/folder--adds a file path to your songs that are already on your computer so iTunes can find them. (At least this is my understanding of the difference between the two options.)

  • IPhoto Managed Library and Referenced Library. What is the difference?

In a reply regarding iphoto TD mentions managed library and referenced library. What is the difference and how do you set them up?

A Managed Library is the default setting, photos are copied into the iPhoto Library on import. In this scenario, iPhoto is responsible for the file management.
A Referenced Library means that iPhoto does not touch the files when you import them. They remain where they were and iPhoto References them in their location.
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
*For working with an External Editor*
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Lots of folks are attracted to the idea of a Referenced Library - well I can see my files! But, frankly, unless you're an experienced Mac user I would stay well away. Not infrequently we see folks here complaining that iPhoto has "lost their photos" when what has happened is that they have imported from the Camera Card in Referenced Mode, then erased the card. Even more common, any change in the path the the file - renaming a disk, folder or file - for instance when migrating to a new machine, when trying to make space on the start up disk by moving files off the an external - also causes big problems.
If you really, really want to run a Referenced Library check out Aperture. It has tools that are much stonger in the area - like migrating tools and reconnecting tools.
    Regards
    TD

  • What is the difference between backing to my mac  or to icloud

In iCloud, what is the difference and the effect on the apps if back up to my mac or iCloud? What happens to Contacts, Calendars etc on my iPhone4 and iPad2??

Depending what Settings you have turned on, your Contacts and Calendars might already be in iCloud.  I personally back up my iPad and iPhone to my computer, but my aunt does it over the cloud.  With the cloud, you are going to want make sure that you have a good internet connection.  With iCloud, essentially what it does is redownload everything from Apples iTunes servers (purchased songs, books, movies, TV shows, etc) but personal data (game scores, contacts, calendars, wall papers, photos) are all downloaded from your iCloud.
With iTunes, it is faster because instead of having to redownload everything from the server, it syncs them to the device over the cable.  Where a good sized restore from iCloud could take 24-48 hours (maybe even longer), iTunes only takes maybe 3-4 hours for the same files, data, etc.

  • What's the difference between the multiple application folders?

So its not really a huge issue, but I noticed the other day that there are two different Applications folders.  There's the one that is on the sidebar when you open finder, and then there is one when you are under your user.  What is the difference between the two?  I was under the impression that they were the same, but the Applications folder on the sidebar has all my applications in it while the one under my user has none.  Can someone explain this?

The one under your home folder is for apps that installed only for your user.  Other users of the computer don't have those apps available.
The other one is system wide.  All users have the app available.

  • What is the difference observerables /actions/events ?

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this but what is the difference between these three things. I understand the basics of actions and actionlisteners but what is the differences between these three objects? It seems like you could use any one of the three combinations to get the job done so what is the difference and what should be used when?
    Observer with Observables
    Action with ActionListener
    Event with EventListener
Can some one explain this. I am sure its been asked before but I spent all day searching and still dont understand the difference.
    Thanks

Observer & observerables are derived from the classical solutions for Action/event handlers in the software paradigm. There's nothing wrong that to manage a UseCase trigger, you use the Observer & observerables patterns inherently.

  • What is the difference between partision and repartision

<<Interview type questions are not permitted>>
    hi friends,
what is the difference between the partision and repartisoin give me example
give me some idea of remodaling concept
Edited by: Matt on Nov 14, 2011 7:55 AM

    Hi Ramesh,
Partitioning is done when you have an empty cube and before you start any data loads underlying infoprovider is physically splitted in different partitions and all these changes are very transperant to end user.
Repartitioning is done when you already have some data available in cube and you want to persist that data but still want to partition cube. Repartitioning is available as of BI 7.0

  • What is the difference between alert moderator button on post and on a thread?

    Dear SAP Mentors
I want to know that what is the difference and functioanlity of alert moderator button for every post in a thread separately and for whole thread in right side of the page? If we click on alert moderator for a specific post then what should we expect and if we do this for a thread then what can be the result? Please elaborate the functioanlity of both.
    Thank$

Yes, they are for same thread. It is to demonstrate that discussion and replies, both are technically message.
It is just that reply has a discussion has parent, and discussion probably has space has parent.
About the thread getting deleted, it could be because someone else reported the thread, and that alert was processed by moderator. It could also be that once moderator reviews the alert, he/she finds entire discussion pointless and rejects it. Or, it could be a human error.
    Let's look at links again.
