  • How to resync third generation iPod Touch after backup and restore and re installation of the operating system?

Hello.  I have a third generation iPod Touch that I have been having problems with the cover art not displaying by the correct artists and the volume automatically adjusting after spell check has corrected a word.  I backed up and restored the device and reinstalled the operating system, which fixed the bug I experienced with the album art not displaying next to the correct artists.  Since that has happened, my computer no longer recognizes my iPod.  How can I get it to recognize the iPod Touch again?

Make sure you have the laters version of iTunes. The latest is 11.1

  • 3rd Generation iPod shows "plug" icon and arrow after restore

    ...and nothing else.
Attempts to turn it on result in the apple logo appearing and then the plug, then it dies.
Tried plugging it into the computer. Tried plugging it into the wall. Nothing.
    Won't go into disk mode.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance...

    Update:
I took it to the Apple Store and the guy tried to convince me the hard drive was probably dead, but after I begged him to take it to the back and try it with their cord, he came out with a resurrected iPod. He said he pressed the case together very hard (I had recently installed a new battery), and then plugged it into their power source, which finished the restore (I guess).
Now it's working again. So don't give up on your 3rd gen when you see that sign. I think all it needs is a good strong power source, (not from the computer firewire port), to finish the job.

  • I have had a third generation iPod touch for three years. It's worked fine sice recent,y when it started looseing battery very fast and every apo including the built in ones like mail and photos have been crashing after about five. I uses of use!!!!

I have a third generation iPod touch. It's worked just fine until recently. The battery goes out very very very fast. But the main  issue is that all my apps (which is why I use the iPod, to play them) crash after using them for 5 minutes, this does include the built in apps like photos and calendar ect.. I have had this for about 3 years and love it very much it's not damaged at all. I Have taken very good are of it . Is it time for a new iPod or can I fix it please help!!!! Thanks!!

The battery can be replaced: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod
As far as crashing apps, it may or may not be related to the battery life. I suggest the usual "restart, restore" routine: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/ipodtouch/

  • Where can I buy a wall charger for a third generation iPod Touch?

Does anyone know where I can buy a wall charger for a third generation iPod Touch?  I am giving this iPod to my father because I want to buy myself a fifth generation iPod Touch for my birthday.  Could I just get an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 or 4S wall charger and use that?  I used my brother's iPhone 3GS wall charger, when I was visiting him out of state, and it worked just fine.

Any wall charger with a USB port will work. You can go to Target or BestBuy and other places too. An iPhone charger is fine.

  • No "Podcast" playlist on third generation iPod

In iTunes, all of my podcasts are in their own group or playlist (as are the Audiobooks). However, when I try to transfer them to my third generation iPod, the Audiobooks playlist goes over but the Podcast one does not.
I have my iPod set up to manage manually and I can transfer the Podcasts over that way, but once they are there they disappear. I can't find them in any playlists or under the artist name or anything. How can I find these? Some of them are quite large so I'd like to delete them from my tiny 15GB iPod!

I'm thinking I may have a more serious problem...this iPod will not reset. Instead of getting the start-up screen (Apple), the screen lits up and then dims without resetting, no matter how long you hold the menu/select buttons.
    Thanks.

  • Third generation ipod help

I recently purchased a used third generation ipod and also purchased a firewire cable for it, the battery currently is dead on the ipod, I dont seem to have a firewire connection on my PC, are they on most computers? I also notice when i plug the ipod into the USB port windows doesn't recognize its there.

I dont seem to have a firewire connection on my PC, are they on most computers?
FireWire ports are not common on PCs, but are available on all recent Macs.
I also notice when i plug the ipod into the USB port windows doesn't recognize its there.
Plug the iPod into its power adaptor or a car adaptor to charge it; until it's charged, the computer will not recognize it. You cannot charge a third generation iPod from a computer's USB port.

I've upgraded my pc and now Im getting an error message when Im trying to sync my ipod saying I have two itunes libraries. The library thats there is only showing some songs and it's not uploading songs Ive just bought.

You seem to have tried everything, and you say it's syncing fine on your Dad's iMac, so I assume, you have also  done a Disk Diagnostic from an earlier post by tt2 and conclude that your iPod Hardisk is good.
You don't have to use it as a heavy paperweight, the problem is only using your Windows 7 machine for syncing.
In your troubleshooting steps, did you try to use another High-Speed USB 2.0 port, USB controller resource are very scarce, so if you use other USB devices, while syncing your iPod, it may just freeze.
Windows have a bad reputation for device conflict, so better don't connect other  USB devices, while syncing, better sync it while disconnected from Internet, stop antivirus just before you go to bed.
    Have a nice day!

  • I have a 4th generation ipod classic (click wheel) and it's giving me a sad ipod error as well as not mounting in itunes... I hear a clicking inside when it is connected to power but nothing is working. Help!

I have a 4th generation ipod classic (click wheel) and it's giving me a sad ipod error as well as not mounting in itunes... I hear a clicking inside when it is connected to power but nothing is working. Help!

You won't believe this but a friend of mine (who happens to be an Apple Genius) told me to put a towel or cloth on a sturdy countertop (I know this may sound weird) but hold the selct button (in the center) and menu part of the wheel at the same time until an Apple logo comes up on the screen and then quickly turn the ipod on it's side and wack it on the counter where the towel is so as not to damage anything cosmetically. It seems the clicking is the hard drive reader is stuck and this dislodges it. Mine works now (no clicking) and all seems to be well again. Who knew?

  • My ipod 3 generation,Keys of volume up and down are not working..What can i do?

My ipod 3 generation,Keys of volume up and down are not working..What can i do?

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
