  • Director won't work on OS X: "This application requires Shockwave Player 11"

Taking a Macromedia Director project and upgrading to Adobe Director (needing to upgrade for several reasons), I found that the published app no longer works on OS X.  The error message appears as follows:
    "Application Error
This application requires Shockwave Player 11, which can not be found. Click OK to download it."
    In console:
Error loading /(path)/my.app/Contents/Frameworks/IMLLib.framework/IMLLib: dlopen(/(path)/my.app/Contents/Frameworks/IMLLib.framework/IMLLib, 262): no suitable image found. Did find: /(path)/my.app/Contents/Frameworks/IMLLib.framework/IMLLib: unknown file type, first eight bytes: 0x58 0x53 0x79 0x6D 0x0A
I made sure that it was being published as a projector, and not as a shockwave.  I also tried publishing to an HFS filesystem as opposed to local to an ntfs system (I'm running Adobe Director on Vista).  Oddly enough, when I originally ran this project on an XP machine (now deceased) this issue did not occur.
Thanks in advance to any help anyone can give!

This sounds very much like what started happening with my Director-based apps. Perhaps something in that forum thread will help or at least shed a clue, but if anyone comes up with a surefire fix for this, I and my customers would love to hear it.

  • App Error requires Shockwave Player 11?

    Hello,
I made a standard Mac projector and published it. On my
desktop all works dandy, however when I burn it to a CD I get this
    Application Error;
This application requires Shockwave Player 11, which can not
be found. Click on OK to download it.
First off I'm confused since I chose the Standard projector
and Not the Shockwave in the Publishing settings. Second it plays
fine until it's burned to a CD.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks a bunch. :o)>

    Hello Sean,
So I tried what you suggested and still same issue. So I
went and downloaded the Shockwave11 anyway and now I get a new
error. The dreaded 'Unable to load movie playlist. Does the INI
file exsist? It must contain a section '(Movies)' with an entry
    'Movies01=pathname.dir'.
I know something is missing on the burned CD, I just don't
    know what.
I located the INI files and included them with the burn but
they aren't recognized. (they are grey'd out on CD) I don't
remember having this much difficulty making the transition from
Director 9 to 10. Starting to wish I would have stuck with 10 after
    all these issues.
    Any Ideas?

  • Stub requires Shockwave player?

While testing my stub projector on a new machine I have come accross the 'This application requires Shockwave Player 11, which can not be found. Click on OK to download it' application error. With the stub projector does the user need the shockwave player? Is there any way round this?

I thought for sure you'd see my post to you in the Verisign thread from two days ago where you first asked this question... the list of dll's in my post are the ones you need.
Yes I saw that thanks. It seems to have done the trick.
I re-posted the question here because I thought the issue was not appropriate for the 'Lingo' section.

  • Error: This application required an Xtra (ActiveX...) that either does not exist or failed

    Hi All,
im having trouble few days now , i hope someone can give me a lead here.
i have a director mx file written in arabic, i open it in Director 11.5, the file behave strangely, very slow publishing process, very slow access to the xtra list.
after publishing (shockwave and html), i open the html, the preloaded start to run but i can see its not reaching 100%, after a while i get the error massage:
"This application required an Xtra (ActiveX...) that either does not exist or failed..." and firebox or IE crashes.
In the movie extra list (Modify menu) i can see all extras, and all have "download if needed", but in ActiveX the "download if needed" grays out. i have no idea why
things i try with no success:
    uninstall and reinstall shockwave player
check the same file in another machine
exclude and include xtras in Publish Settings > Files
    add activex.x32 from other places
    Hope for good news
    Win Xp sp3
    Thanks
    Shay

In the movie extra list (Modify menu) i can see all extras, and all have "download if needed", but in ActiveX the "download if needed" grays out. i have no idea why
Because AX controls aren't SW-safe. You will have to redesign your file to remove the ActiveX control if you want it to run in a browser.

  • Does Air applications Require Flash Player?

Well, this question may sound stupid but please help me out with my basic doubt. Does those applications created in Flex (as AIR application) require Flash Player at the client side or just installing AIR at the client side will do?

No, Just AIR runtime is enough. Air application will use the airglobal.swc for compile.

  • This application requires JavaScript Support ?

    Hello all?
I downloaded FMS developer version last week and have been
trying to test some examples given.
But it seems like javascript is never called in my brower
    which is Internet Explorer 7.0.
When I open up, for example, sample_room.html which can be
found in the example folder, I found there is
    a
    quote:
    <noscript>This application requires JavaScript
    Support</noscript>
block. Everytime I execute this file,
    I get this message.
As a result, it seems like there is no connection made
between FMS and clients. I tried to change script options
in the option menu with no result.
Currently, FMS and APM(apache, PHP, mySQL) are installed in
my PC and the samples are located in the apache's root directory.
    My OS is Windows XP.
I've spent almost a week with this. I think I've tried almost
everything that I can think of. But as I'm not feel
comfortable with javascript or html, it is really hard to
    find the answer.
    So, could someone help me?

Hi. try Add "Shockwave 3d" Xtra to Projector (Menu Modify/Movie/Xtras) or add manually an "Xtras" Folder near ur projector (exe) with shockwave 3d plugin inside.

  • Cant install or uninstall Adobe Air. Keep getting error message "This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found"

I am running Windows 7 and use Adobe AIR for Flixster.  When I tried to open Flixster I recieved an error message saying i needed to install Adobe AIR.  I looked and saw that according to control panel, Adobe AIR is installed.  I attempted to uninstall but get this EXACT message:
"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.  Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair, or contact the application author for an updated version."
I have tried going to the mentioned website but i get an error message saying installation failed and may need administrative privilages but I AM the administrator!
I then tried multiple solutions on the forums including the command prompt uninstall and still no luck.  contacted customer support who told me i can only receive assistance through these forums.
    Very frustrating.  Please Help.

I have the same issue with a customer of ours:
Try to uninstall AIR – same message.  (When I reinstall,  the install says it’s successful.) I try to run our app, same message. I downloaded another AIR app, same message – so it’s not our app it’s AIR.  We logged in as Administrator, same message.  It’s a Windows7 machine. I did a system restore to 2 days ago and started over and still the same issues. I tried running the Windows Fixit to uninstall https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall – didn’t work.

When trying to uninstall it stops me with the same message described above. I managed to uninstall it by using a specific software to uninstallations, which it does, but to re-install the same thing happens. Also try it with AIR 2.6. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR.  Microsoft has released a utility that can help resolve installation problems.  Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you?  When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system.  Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.
Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It
Another alternative is to create a new, temporary user account and install AIR from there.  Once installed, go back to your normal account and try running your AIR app again.

  • "This Application requires Adobe Air to be installed"

    Hey guys
I got my self a project which i need to use on the emulator.
But every time i publish my flash project to the emulator, i get an error saying
"This Application requires Adobe Air to be installed" eventho i do have Adobe Air installed & updated
In case it matters i have the Runtime_Emulator_Froyo_20100930 installed and i use Vista SP1.
Hopefully somebody can help me out here
    Thanks in advance

No No, Sorry aha I installed Windows 8, which was fine. I didnt like it much so I tried doing a system restore assuming I could just go back to Windows 7 (What my friend told me). I found out eventually I couldnt obviously, but before I found out I figured the "Reset Your PC" option would be like a system restore and would go back to Windows 7. All my Programmes got deleted, which I was fine about so I just went to go install them again but Photoshop is telling me I cant install it due to not having the system requirements. But the only requirement I believe I dont have is Windows 7, but like I said before... I've seen others with Windows 8 having Photoshop..
A system Image Backup, nope.. I dont. My friend told me that it was just a trial and I would go back to Windows 7 once the trial is up. (I should do my own research in future)
I hope this was clear enough, again it's pretty late and I'm just stressed over loosing everything. Thank you for getting back to me so soon also - Any other tips on how to maybe get it? I dont think I have any traces of Adobe left since all my programmes got deleted, the only other thing I have is Adobe Flash.

  • Android - This application requires adobe air

I have made an android app and installed on the device.
i have searched the android market for the Adobe Air runtime and cannot find it.
when i debug the app it says
"This application requires adobe air. Install Adobe Air now?"
but when i click the install button the response back is
    ! Not Found
The requested item could not be found.
    any ideas please.

i think it is something to do with installing the runtime from the cmd prompt
    -e install -r <runtime.apk>

  • Quicktime error (this application requires an Extra (Quicktime 3)

I have just updated to the recent version of Director and am in the process of updating my previous files for teaching. Everthing seemed to work in the update process and I published a new Projector for my Mac running latest version of Snow Leopard. However, although the tutorial I created runs correctly when I run it direcly from Director's main program, when I run it from the projector I created I get this error:
    Director Player error
This application requires an Extra (Quicktime 3) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure
the appropriate extras are in the Extras folder(s).
Before I updated I didn't have an Extras folder. Can someone please advise, simply.
    Mickey

Quicktime 3 is pretty ancient, and Director 11 does not use it.  You can probably get away with simply removing the xtra reference in Modify, Movie, Xtras....  Find the Quicktime 3 xtra and remove it.  Director 11 comes with Quicktime 6 asset which is probably going to be added to your project automatically, so that should be all you need to do.  If your code does something that is specific to Quicktime 3, then you may need to make adjustments to your code.  You also may need to remove and re-import the quictime videos if they fail to play.

  • This application requires version 6.3.9600.16384 of the Windows ADK. Windows 8.1 PRO OEM

    Hi,
i am trying to sysprep a machine and i need to create the unattended xml file.I downloaded the Windows ADK for Windows 8.1 (update) and need to generate the answer file.Whenever i select the "install.wim" file from my Windows dvd (copied
to a writeable destination) , it gives me an error  : "This application requires version 6.3.9600.16384 of the Windows ADK." .
I already found a forum post regarding this issue (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/69cd6ddd-fab6-4986-bd70-52ce894f37c2/creating-unattendxml-for-windows-8?forum=mdt)
, saying that the Windows ADK for 8.1 PREVIEW is needed but this link is removed from the website.
Can i still download this version somewhere or what is the solution?I already tried to slip in some update packages in the wim file (following this link :  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn622020.aspx
) but no result, it seems that the version installed on my machine is not compatible with the newest 8.1 ADK.
I already tried to sysprep the machine with /oobe /generalize /shutdown (without an unattend xml file) , but when i reboot the system i get an error "windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for
pass [specialize]. a component or non-list settings is specified more than once in the answer file".
What is the solution for this problem ?
    F.

The link you presented above is a mess.
The idea of going back to the "PREVIEW" version of the ADK makes no sense to me, unless.. you are running a preview version. Which is silly.
Please be aware that there are *DIFFERENT* sub-build versions of the Windows 8.1. My version of the ntoskrnl.exe shows build 6.3.9600.17630.
Please be aware that there are also different versions of the Windows 8.1 ADK. If you are unsure if you have the latest version, please uninstall the ADK, and download again from MSFT.

    Director 10.1.1
I have a .dir which has an imported .swf file in it The .swf
    is Flash 8
The .swf plays fine is authoring mode and even when it is
    published as a .exe.
The problem is the .dxr file. When protected, I get the
    following error message:
"This application requires an Xtra (Flash Movie...) that

sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s)."
My xtras are up to date (I think) and include the "flash

    Any ideas?
    Thanks...sean

    Thanks Mark.
I acutally didn't do the full update to 10.1.1.
I was still at 10.1 and needed to recreate the launcher and
for whatever reason (nube) that fixed the issue.
    Cheers.
