... and I apologise if it is but I'm trying to find out exactly which Creative Zen mp3 players are compatible with napster to go. Napster provides a fairly outdated list of compatible devices and I'm hoping the Creative Zen X-Fi and/or Creative Zen 6gb are compatible?

Is the Mac Mini with the 9400M video card powerful enough to run final cut studio? I'm using the previous model mac mini to use FCE but I'd really like to get into learning the programs in final cut studio but I dont have the money to spend on the iMac or the Macbook Pro.

I know this might be a stupid question but would I have my data removed after upgrading my iMac (2012) to OSX Mavericks from my current version? (OSX mountain lion)

I do not have any CD ROM or hard disk for saving my data in my mac. Would it be safe for me to directly upgrade to osx Mavericks? Sorry for my poor english btw

You are an accident waiting to happen!!!!! Backing up data
is extremely important as anything may happen at any time.
Relying on a single electronic copy of your data is not a good
idea at all!!
Now of course, if all your data on your computer has absolutely
no meaning to you, then there is no need to backup.

This might be a stupid question - change default fonts?

but I am unable to get the default fonts changed to the ones I want to use. Am I missing something simple/basic/obvious? Wouldn't be the first time.

This might be a simple question. On those sites that do not differentiate between models when on the internet I.e. Facebook when after your comment and you cannot hit "enter" on an iPad for examp. And speed is slow to connect. What is = to post?

Actually, another person on the "more like this" had the right answer. It meant I had a notification for an invite that I needed to respond to.

This is a really stupid question but...

I am a beginer with Motion and on one of my open projects my Utility Window has dissapeared. I've tried brigning it back by pressing command 1, F1, F2, F3, etc and bringing up all the different window layouts....
ITS DRIVING ME NUTS!!! I have no idea where it's gone or how to bring it back???

Apologies for the stupidity of this question, but I'm very new to InDesign and print layouts etc, and I guess the only way to learn is to ask the daft questions!
I recently completed the 'Create a Brochure' tutorial (which I found really useful, by the way), but a couple of things stood out as questions for me.
The tutorial directed me to create a 3 column page layout - which I think was partly to make it easier to place the graphics and some of the titles - but the main body of text crossed over two columns and seemed to disregard the boundaries of the left-hand and centre columns. Being a Word driver and online Help writer I'm used to text staying within the rigid confines of tables! Am I right in thinking that I could have made text entry boxes using the columns as guidelines and then effectively created 3 columns of text as necessary? I'm asking because I'm looking to use InDesign to lay out some instructional documents that will need some pages with a traditional prose layout and other pages with columns of text and graphics/photos.
My second question leads on from the second: am I best off writing my text in Word and once edited and proofed dropping it into InDesgn, or can I work straight into InDesign? Again, I'm sorry if this sounds like a profoundly daft question!

Hello, glad you liked the tutorial! Yes, you can certainly use the 3 columns to flow text (in each of the 3 columns).
You can use Word to enter text as you're familiar with the application, although you can do it easily in InDesign too. In InDesign, you'll create a frame and place the text. Here's a tutorial that walks you through it. How to place text from a word processing application in InDesign.

OK This might be a dumb question....

I know that Appleworks is not going to be updated. I even have a copy of Pages already. My questions is this; I keep getting this:

When I open Appleworks anymore. It started doing this not long after I updated to 6.9. I know that Pages does almost everything Appleworks does. Except that which I use Appleworks for, drawing! I do have Graphic Converter but I do not like it as well as I like Appleworks.
My husband tried today to give me a copy of Appleworks but even that gave me the above error when I went to report it after it failed. It gets to Starting Points and crashes. I'm ready to take the copy from my old laptop and see if that one works on this one. Any ideas that might help would be appreciated.

Is that from a crash report? I don't read crash reports, so I don't know what it means. But, since this happened after you updated to AppleWorks 6.2.9, it may only need some simple "housekeeping." Whenever you do an update, it's a good idea to do two maintenance tasks, one for the system (Repair Permissions) and one for AppleWorks (delete preferences). (Thanks to Barry for this way to format this very common answer.)
To Repair permissions, launch Disk Utility, found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, click on First Aid, then on Repair Permissions.
To delete AppleWorks’ preference files, go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences. Find and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist. Find and open the folder AppleWorks in this Preferences folder, then delete all of the enclosed files (with the exception of the Button Bar Preferences if you have customized the Button Bars). AppleWorks will recreate the preference files as it needs them.

Absolutely needing to work with images on a server, the update to 10.4.6 and it's issues with Photoshop, is giving my co-worker a headache.
If he archives and installs, to 10.4 are the updates to 10.4.5 still available?
I did a quick search of the main support site and found only 10.4.6.
Will he be stuck in 10.4 until 10.4.7?

Before performing a downgrade install as you're considering, I'd spend some time trying to solve the problem, particularly checking the Adobe knowledge base or the Adobe forums for Photoshop. It would also help if you'd specify the version of Photoshop that's having the problem and if all appropriate updates to that version of Photoshop have been applied.
Downgrade installs can be very dodgy. Apple does not recommend them, as they note in the "About 'Downgrade' installations" section at the end of "Mac OS X: Troubleshooting installation and software updates." Additional information about why downgrade installs are problematic can be found in "Applications don't work after reinstalling Mac OS X."
If you want to try a downgrade install to 10.4.5 from 10.4.6, you can see my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ. In step (4b), install the Mac OS X 10.4.5 Combo Update, then follow the rest of the steps. Note that:• Downgrade installs are performed at your own risk. While the downgrade method outlined above has worked for many, Apple does not recommend downgrade installations and one cannot account for how variances between individual users' systems may affect the outcome. Again, use at your own risk: you break it, you fix it.
• I would only test third-party applications in Step 5 as Apple apps are likely to run into the issues with the Previous Systems folder noted in "Applications don't work after reinstalling Mac OS X."
• Apple apps should be safe to test after Step 6, but you may still run into problems due to 10.4.6-related changes in preferences files in your Home > Library > Preferences folder. Discarding the preferences files for Apple applications that are problematic after a downgrade install may solve the problem with those applications.Good luck!

I back up my HD is it backing up my applications like all my Adobe software or any games or anything in my applications folder? What exactly is being backed up I guess is my question? Thanks

This depends on the backup program. My software, SuperDuper, makes a complete clone of the hard disk, and other software does, as well. Time Machine backs up your drive, as well as documents you draft and update. Other software only backs up critical documents. It depends on what you want to back up.
It makes sense to back up the whole drive, since that includes updates and miscellaneous files that are on your hard drive. For example, on my SuperDuper backup, every file on my HD is duplicated on my backup. Of course, that means that you must have a backup drive of sufficient size
