Three Getting Started Questions with RV180

I recently purchased the RV180 router. I have a few quick "getting started" questions about using it:
1. Is the "Static DHCP" the screen I need to use in order to reserve DHCP addresses (see attached)? That's where I've been reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just making sure I have the correct screen.
2. Do I need to do anything to "backup" my configuration, or will my settings still be around when the RV180 reboots?
3. Do I need to run a check for firmware update on the RV180, and how do I update the firmware on the RV180 (as well as the SG200-18), or does it usually come with the latest firmware out-of-the-box? If I go ahead and put a service contract on the RV180 and SG200-18, will I receive my firmware updates automatically? Are the part numbers for the service contracts the same for the RV180 and SG200-18?
Thanks!

Hello,
1. Is the "Static DHCP" the screen I need to use in order to reserve DHCP addresses (see attached)? That's where I've been reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just making sure I have the correct screen.
Yes, that is the correct location to set DHCP reservations.
2. Do I need to do anything to "backup" my configuration, or will my settings still be around when the RV180 reboots?
Whenever you hit save after making a change you configuration is saved and will survive a reboot.
If you would like to save  backup copy of your configration file just go to Administration >> Backup/Restore settings.
You will need to manually update the firmware on the RV180.  That firmware is available here:
RV180 Firmware
It is simply one file, that you upload under Administration >> Firmware Upgrade.  There is no bootcode for the routers (like there was with your switch)
You can locate this in the future the same way you did the SG200 firmware (because this link may change) on the Cisco website.
As for the service contract, the part number for both of those devices will be CON-SBS-SVC2.
Hope that helps, and I will try to get to your other questions sometime today as well.  Also since you just bought there you are of course welcome to call in and get some support over the phone, both your devices do come with 1 year of technical support, and it sounds like you are getting or have contracts, so I guess make that 3 years.

  • Using Getting Started VI with HP54845 scope

I'm trying to run the supplied "Getting Started" IVI with the Agilent HP54845 scope that is included in the download package for the hp548xx device. The instrument input is GPIB::7::INSTR and the Initialize with Options portion of the subVI returns an OK when run. The series of VIs in the subVI "hp548xx Acq Wfm Edge Triggered" also return OK values up to the "Read Wfm" VI. I then get a timeout error (Error number BFFF0015). Am I using the wrong instrument handle and, if so, what is the correct handle. This is the default format when I create an input to this "Read Wfm" VI. The Plug & Play VIs work for this device and I am able to display scope traces in LabView when I use the supplied P&P VIs so I am able to talk to t
    he device.

Probably the most common reason for timeout (BFFF0015) in an oscilloscope read waveform is failed trigger event. Most likely the Getting Started VI uses edge triggering. Check the edge trigger level setting and verify that it is set to be within the range of your expected signal.

  • Getting started question

I'm sure I'll have fewer questions as times moves on, but here is another newbie question.
I've gone through the initial getting started chapter on the 'Calculator' stateless session bean J2EE project.
    At the step:
<i>Deploying and Running the Calculator Application</i>
I think I successfully deploy my EAR.
The page won't load in my browser.
I've tried many flavors of localhost, localhost.corp.adobe.com, AHAMILTO1-XP and AHAMILTO1-XP.corp.adobe.com to port 50418/Calculator/Calculator.jsp.
    For example:
    http://localhost:50418/Calculator/Calculator.jsp
Am I using the wrong port?  Is the port 50418 not an http port?  I guess I'm asking how do I determine my http port number?  I also tried 50000.
I get the response during deployment:
    <i>Jan 11, 2005 2:27:57 PM /userOut/deploy (com.sap.ide.eclipse.sdm.threading.DeployThreadManager) [Deploy Thread] INFO:
    CalculatorEar.ear -> Successfully deployed file:/C:/DOCUME1/ahamilto/LOCALS1/Temp/temp54088CalculatorEar.ear
    DEPLOYMENT ...
    ==> SDM host : AHAMILTO1-XP
    ==> SDM port : 50418
    ==> URL : file:/C:/DOCUME1/ahamilto/LOCALS1/Temp/temp54088CalculatorEar.ear
    ... FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY</i>

    Hello,
    1. Does your browser show the startpage of your local WAS if you try URL http://localhost:50000
    2. Where does your port 50418 come from? It seams that you have several instances on your computer, maybe you should try http://localhost:50400/Calculator/Calculator.jsp to reach your application. XXX18 is normally the sdm port through which you deploy your application to j2ee engine.
    Maybe that helps,
    André

  • Getting Started PDF with V3 images

    Hi Guys
We supply all our clients with a BC pdf document made a few years ago called "Getting Started Guide". I note that there is no new guide and a lot of the content on the Knowledgebase still references V2 menus. I really want to give clients a tailored PDF rather than get them looking at the KB and seeing a lot information that is not necessary. Has anyone made a V3 guide they want to share?
    Kenton

+1 - This is a big miss for me. Having to explain that our GSG is being updated as we onboard new clients puts a ***** in our armor that I'd rather not have. I'm not against creating my own, but a sanctioned copy would be nice. Any ETA, ABC friends?

  • LR3 Getting Started questions

I've been using Aperture since v2 and am looking to move to LR 3, but have some functionality questions before purchasing LR.
Right off, this isn't meant as Aperture can, LR can't post.  It's meant as, LR has features that I like and am considering switching to it over Aperture as a result, but the following are 'must-have' and I just want to know from a technical standpoint if I can accomplish the same (similar) workflow in LR3.
    1.  Keywords: Can I assign keywords via the keyboard?
    Aperture
Keyword set: Me, You, someone else
Opt-1 will assign 'Me' to selected image(s), Opt-2 will assign 'You' to selected image(s).
    Keyword set: Cat, Dog, Rabbit
Opt-1 will now assign 'Cat' to an image, Opt-2 will assign 'Dog' to an image.
Can the same concept be done in LR?  If so, a link to a tutorial would be appreciated.
    2. Smart Albums (Collections in LR)
    Aperture
I have a Project with 100 images, in that project I have 30 images in an Album1, 50 images in Album2.  Using Smart Album, I can create a rule that shows me only the 20 images that aren't in any Albums (ie. Album1 or Album2)
Can the same concept be done in LR?  If so, a link to a tutorial would be appreciated.
    3. Refenced vs Managed
I have a Reference library in A3.  Files reside on external HDD (~100 GB), library (previews, keywords, etc...) resides on internal HDD (~20 GB)
Reason, I only have a 120 GB internal HDD.  Managed wouldn't fit on my internal HDD.
I've added three images to a test LR, 2 MB each, and the resulting LR Catalog folder in the Finder is ~3MB.  Is the normal overhead in LR, ~50%.  If so, that won't work for me.  Are there pre-sets to reduce file info in LR?  Meaning, low-res previews, etc...
    4. Drag-Drop from Finder
Is there a way to drag-drop images from the Finder to an existing Catalog?

    1.  Keywords: Can I assign keywords via the keyboard?
    Same as Aperture.
    Alt/Opt+n to assign keyword-n (where n is a number from 1 to 9);
Alt/Opt+0 (zero) to cycle through Keyword Sets.
    2. Smart Albums (Collections in LR)
Create a Smart Collection with the following rule: Collection doesn't contain "Album1" AND Collection doesn't contain "Album2".
    3. Refenced vs Managed
Lightroom doesn't have "managed", only "referenced".
The catalog size grows mostly because of the preview cache, which is always located next to catalog (unless you use some hacks). In Catalog Prefs, you have options for preview quality (low, med, high), size (1024, 1440, 1680, 2048 on the long side) as well as the max. time before discarding 1:1 previews.
Those 3MB is you catalog + preview cache, and probably some initial overhead for an empty catalog (an empty database cannot be as small as 0KB).
As a general rule of thumb, I think 1MB per image for the preview cache is a good guess. So, for a 50k catalog you need 50GB for preview cache. The catalog itself must be below 1GB for this number of images.
    4. Drag-Drop from Finder
At least on Windows, it works quite well. You drop the files and Lightroom pops up the Import dialog with only those files that you've dropped being selected for import, even if the folder in Finder/Explorer has more files.

  • Getting started again with recording songs

I have written several songs and I want to record, mix & edit them on my computer; I may also want to add video to some of the songs. I don't want to buy something like cakewalk if I can use an Adobe product that will work with PP CS4.
I already have PPCS4 that I have used to make a guitar set-up and adjusting tutiriol HD DVD that I am selling on Ebay. It comes with a tool kit and the video turned out great. Being somewhat familiar with Adobe products........,
my first, of what may be many question is: Can I use PP CS4 like a multi-track? Or do I need another application software, like Soundbooth or.........?
I will ty to keep my questions single bases, so I don't get confused with a lot of stuff all at once. LOL
    Thanks
    Jim

My advice is don't try to use Premiere Pro for recording audio. It has multiple audio tracks, but those are for editing, not recording. Soundbooth CS4 and CS5 do multi-tracks pretty well and the software is easy to use. But for heavy-duty editing with a lot of effects, racks and so forth, then use Adobe Audition. Soundbooth is mostly for light-duty editing and for editing the sound tracks of videos. Audition is a much more professional-quality tool and will interface with your instruments and other electronics. Just make sure to buy version 3.0 and not an older version on eBay (unless you're doing it just to qualify for an upgrade). Versions 1 and 2 have serious issues and might not even run on your machine.

  • WLC to use Management Interface & Few more getting started Questions

    Hello,
I'm yet to implement the Wireless LAN in one of our client's corporate office. There 40 x 1130AG LWAPP AP's and 4404 WLC with ACS 4.x for the Authentication of the Wireless Clients who is trying to access the LAN.
For the WLC to connect to the Dual Core Switch, i need to use only one Management Interface with Distribution System port 1 being the Primary and mapping the DS Port 2 as the Backup port for the Management Interface. Is this Right? or do i have configure Dynamic Interfaces as well. Is management interface for accessing / management and configuration only? Management Interface will communicate with ACS for AAA and AP's who would like to associate with the WLC, is this Right?
Note: WLC, AP's, Wireless Clients & AP's are in the same IP Subnet.
Few other question of WLAN's so it helps me during implementation -
    • Can I use the 802.1x Authentication application found in the Windows XP for the Wireless Interface; instead of Cisco Client Application. For this; I have to configure the WLC / Wireless Client to use EAP algorithm; is this Right?
    • With the help of RRM, the channel interference between multiple AP's (3 - 4 AP's) in the same area is controlled by the WLC by changing the Channels used by the AP which is not same on all the AP's. Is this right?
    • How many Client Users will connect per Channels. 802.11 a / g will provide 11 Channels, is this Right?.
    • I'm trying to set in the WLC to limit the Client connections per AP to 25, can this be achieved?
Please, can anyone help me in calrifying the above points.
    Regards,
    Keshava Raju

Many Thanks Mr. Dennis for your help & Clarification.
With ref to your reply point no# 1. I have actually planned to connect one Gig port of the controller to each of the Dual Cisco Core Switch setup. Can i use all 4 Controller Interfaces configured as LAG and Port 1 & 2 connecting to Core Switch 01 and Port 3 & 4 connecting to Core Switch 02?
I have Final two more questions, Request you to help me calrifying this?
    • I'm willing to configure Multicast communication between the WLC & AP's. For this configuration is it necessary to Connect the WLC in a different VLAN than the VLAN of the AP's. Is it necessary that I have to set the controller to LWAPP Layer 3 mode to support the Multicast communication?
    • Though I do not have implementation experience of the WLAN. My understanding of the Interface settings on the WLC - is I will have to configure one Management Interface for in-band management. Do I have to configure AP-Manager Interface (to support Multicast communication) and to make the WLC to communicate with ACS for Client Authentication. All of the Wireless Devices including the ACS are in one VLAN / IP Subnet, is only one Management Interface is enough for communicating with AP's (with Multicast) and communicating with ACS for forwarding the Authentication messages between the ACS & Wireless Clients?

  • Getting Started Questions

Hello - I am considering purchasing JDeveloper Suite Personal
Edition and have the following questions:
    1) What is the difference between the Personal Edition and the
Enterprise Edition? I see no mention of the Personal Edition on
OTN or other Oracle web pages. My purpose at this point is only
    educational and not deployment.
    2) Does the Suite (JDeveloper, Oracle8i, and Oracle App Server)

    3) How soon is JDeveloper 3.0 expected?

    Hi
Personal edition has JDeveloper 1.1 where as Enterprise Edition
    comes with JDeveloper 2.0.
Personal edition is only for educational purpose (like what you
want to do) and not intended for deployment.
Yes, JDeveloper , Oracle8i and Oracle App Server work with
    WindowsNT Workstation.

    Hi ekkapop,
First you need to find a JVM that support CDC, here are 2 of them for Pocket PC:
    -IBM J9
    -Creme
Then choose the IDE of your preference (Eclipse, Netbeans...)
I order to keep the best compability use only AWT components and compile with javac 1.4 or lower and jar your project.
It should run just fine on thoses JVMs.
Now this is the way to keep simple, then you can try adding swt or swing libraries to enrich your project and try other packs for IDE.
But using awt components and compiling with javac 1.4 have worked just fine for me.
Now I am also beggining with the J2ME so this is just the first feedback I can give for now.

  • WCS and AL getting started

I have WCS 5.X running with trial license until our we receive our purchased license. Our 2710 AL came in and I have it up and running and known to WCS. I have a couple getting started questions.
Not sure what the https enable is for on the AL? I did a google earth map of our campus. Started to try and place buildings on the map. Once you place a building can you move or edit its size or location. Didn't see a way.
What general steps should I be taking to putting all this together with the WCS and AL? I'm getting floor plans for each building from our physical plant department. Do they sized or edited? I have placed a few APs on each map. Can the AL help in locating the APs on the maps. General stuff to start getting the most out of the software. Been reading what docs I have found.

You can update the location appliance using the WCS server or manually download the software using a console port connected to the location appliance.

  • Help getting started

So, I'm trying to get started working with Flash using
ActionScript. I've read some tutorials, browsed through some code,
and feel like I have enough resources to do what I want, with one
exception: I can't figure out how to get the actions I put on my
first frame to run. I've downloaded examples, and they all seem to
work; I feel like I've mimicked their syntax precisely, but it
appears I'm missing something, because my script isn't running.
Here's what I'm doing, step-by-step (using Macromedia Flash
    MX Professional 2004, Trial):
    -Create new Flash Document
-Import to Library: 1.jpg (picture of a panda bear)
-Window->Library to view library, drag 1.jpg onto canvas
-Right-click picture, Convert to Symbol: Movie Clip named
    PandaClip
-Insert new layer above Layer 1, name it "actions"
-In the Actions window, with "Current Selection" reading
    "actions : Frame 1", type:
    PandaClip.onRelease = function() {
    PandaClip._alpha = 0;
which, from my understanding, should mean that, when I click
    on the picture, it'll disappear.
    -Ctrl+Enter to test movie.
When I test the movie, I see the picture, but clicking on it
does nothing (I don't even get the finger pointer indicating it's
    clickable).
So... can anyone see where I went wrong? 'Cause it's been
driving me nuts. If I attach an action to the PandaClip itself
using on(release), it works fine and dandy, but I'd really like to
be able to have some script run in the first frame...

Are you giving it an instance name of PandaPic or whatever in
the property inspector? Naming it PandaPic in the library doesn't
make it targetable in actionscript. To target anything on the stage
it must have an instance name in the property inspector unless that
object is created dynamically which you are not doing in your
    example.
