Thumbnail view always jumps to the wrong position

My problem:
After looking at photos by double clicking them and closing them afterwards, the thumbnail of this picture always moved.
For example the photo was in the middle of a list I view. After looking at it it is always in the first row. This is very annoying. Actually not the picture is moving in the album but the whole thumbnails are scrolled.
Did I make my problem clear? It is not so easy to describe.
The error is around for quite a while. At least since iPhoto 5.0.0. I tried to rebuild the database with alt-command but the problem does not go away.

Ok, then it is an (annoying) feature.
So I can at least hope that Apple will change the behaviour in a future iPhoto version. If would have been a bug and only I have it Apple will propably never fix anything

When I try to change to position of the symbol for the bookmarks it doesn't matter where I put it, always when I click on "Finish" the button jumps back in the middle of the bookmarks bar, right of the bookmarks and left of two addons (FoxyTunes and Forecastfox).

Sorry, that specific Bookmarks button ''(with the drop-marker down arrow or '''bookmarks''' word)'' is tied to the Bookmarks Toolbar when it is shown, and only appears when the Menu bar is hidden and the Firefox button is showing. It is not a "regular" toolbar button.
There is the original Bookmarks button, in the Customize Palette, which toggles the Bookmarks Sidebar view. It will stay where you put it on the Toolbars.

Although all photos in my libraries are rotated to the correct orientation, random pictures still show up in the wrong position when viewed on Apple TV. Any suggestions?

Several of our iPhone users in the UK reported the problem this morning, and as the Apple fan in the office I've got the job of resolving the issue
The original Excel was an old .xls file, but I have saved it as a .xlsx and the problem still appears
I haven't spoken with our developer yet, but I assume he has created the Excel file using some programming tools rather that directly using Excel
In the meantime I have created a simply spreadsheet with 8 cells contain values
In the first 4 cells, I have formatted them using Currency, and have used the currencies USD, DEM, GBP and CHF
In the remaining cells I have formatted them using the Accounting option, using the same currencies
When I review the spreadsheet on the iPhone (or iPad), the first 4 remain the same yet the last four all show the £ symbol
I have now changed the Region Format of the iPhone to United States, and when viewing on the iPhone the bottom 4 values are now all showing the $ sign!
If I had created the spreadsheet I would have put the Currency code in a seperate cell and purely used a numeric format for the number, and there would be no issue. That might be the only solution
Yes, the Director has the full MS Excel app on his Windows 8 device, but I can't expect all of our clients to go and do the same, in business many of them will have the iPhone
We may have to change the way we produce the report because of Apple's failings here, and it's not the first time that we have had to change something because Apple devices can't display them properly

How do I stop images being in the wrong position when I convert them to 3D shapes? (Ps CC)

I am trying to make a soda can using a label that I have drawn. Whenever I turn the image layer into a 3D soda can shape, the label stretches and is in the wrong position (only part of it is on the can), but I see no settings to adjust scaling and position of the image. How can I stop this happening? I am using Photoshop CC.

An image sequence import must start with identically sized files or the import will be based on the first image dimensions.
If your first image is 640X480 and the next image is 800X600 it will be scaled down to 640X480 at import. You also can't mix portrait and landscape images.
You could use software like Graphic Converter to "batch" export your images to the same scale.
Another method would be to use iPhoto (drag your folder of images to a new album). It can make nice slide show movies and it will "center" smaller images and scale others.

Thumbnail view crashing FCP -- Kona3 the problem?

For larger projects, running bins in thumbnail view crashes FCP.
Most of the time, I'm editing 6 to 8 min. stories for a news magazine format show. We shoot on Sony XDCAM, so usually 2 or 3 disks per project (roughly 44 mins of HD viddy per disk, with anywhere from 20 to 120 individual clips on the disk).
However, for our documentaries (either 26 mins or 56mins) we shoot between 30 to 45 disks full of content. When importing the disks into FCP7, we use a bin per disc, translating into an average of 80 clips per bin. Whenever a project is this big, I can only open 3 or so bins in thumbnail view. After that, the system crashes. Even if I only keep one bin open at a time, by that fourth bin, the system crashes.
We are using a KONA3 card configuration.
Anyone else seen this?

PROBLEM IDENTIFIED (NOT SOLVED):
I've had this problem with thumbnail images crashing FCP after opening bins for over a year now and when going back using footage from old projects it happens more frequently. I can open 2-4 bins before it will crash FCP completely.
TROUBLESHOOTING IN THE PAST:
- Dumped Prefs
- Re-installed FCP
- Formatted & Re-installed EVERYTHING (OSX included)
- Increased thumbnail cache size
- Created new projects & bins, etc.
CONCLUSION:
None of the above troubleshooting strategies worked. Increasing the thumbnail cache size may appear to work a little but problem persists with little improvement.
HOW I IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM:
Only recently have I been working with other formats aside from XDCAM. I've recently incorporated more ProRes files into my most recent project of T2i footage from the Canon DSLR camera. If I open a bin and display thumbnails of the ProRes video clips everything works without a problem. Loading thumbnail bins with the raw .mp4 files also works fine. Only loading XDCAM files will cause FCP to crash. The problem has nothing to do with the Kona card. If you read the posts carefully here and elsewhere you will see the common denominator is the XDCAM encoded video files being displayed as thumbnail icons.
I am using XDCAM EX files at 1080p 30fps. To further isolate this problem as something having to do with the XDCAM files, another user posted on another thread:

Apple, this problem has persisted for more than two years and is a major problem. Just search the forums including this one. Any further upgrades of Final Cut Studio or OS X are worthless until this problem is fixed. A brand new body and interior won't fix a car with a broken engine. Please help!! Please solve this issue with the XDCAM footage in FCP!

Maos in ios6 is working extramly bad. I do not find streets and it shows the wrong position.

The new Map in IOS 6 is working very bad. It shows the wrong position on an adress and it do not find streets. For exempel Kärleksbacken 3 in Sollentuna Sweden.
Is there an update comming soon?
Maps in IOS 5 Fromm Google worked greate, so tjis is à Step down for Apple.

If this is an iCloud account the Outbox only appears when sending an email, so if it is still trying I suppose it should be showing now (not sure though, hard to replicate this)

ITunes 8 Always Jumps to the Top of my Music Library After Search

So I've upgraded to iTunes 8, but I've encountered an annoyance not present in past versions. When I use the search function for something, find it and click on it, and click the 'X' to clear the search box, iTunes always jumps to the top of the my music list. Of course I can hit Ctrl + L, but this is a really unnecessary nuisance. What's the deal; is there any remedy?

You can't sync music not obtained from the iTunes Store currently on your phone to the iTunes library on your computer. Assuming this music on your old PC, your only choice is to copy it from your PC to your Mac. Otherwise, SOL.

OSX Yosemite: I can not move the icons on my display. They always jump to an other position

I updated my OS X to Yosemite last week.
First problem: Since then, I can not update several applications any more. Yestersday, there where 5 updates: iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages and Numbers. iMovie and iPhoto updates were ok, but for the other 3 I received a message ""Update Unavailable with This Apple ID.This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"". As far as I know, I was never refunded, or I never cancelled an app that was originating from Apple. I even don't know how to di it !!
Second problem: I can not move any more the icons on my display. And sometimes thy are moved to an other position after start. For example: the Mackintosh HD and the external Time-Maschine HD were always in the right upper corner on the display. This morning, after starting, they were in the left lower corner!! No way to slide them back to the other side. They always jump back to the lower left.

Performance tip: Keep the Desktop clutter-free (empty, if possible) by: Klaus1
Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks. Each of your icons on your desktop is stored as a window in the window server, not as an alias. The more you have stored, the more strain it puts on the window server. Check your desktop for unnecessary icons and clear them out.
Keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop can prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. Even creating a single folder on your Desktop and placing all current and future clutter inside, then logging out and back in can provide an immediately noticeable speed boost, particularly for the Finder.
And it is why Apple invented 'Stacks' for Leopard.
Keep your Desktop as clutter free as possible!

Calendar List view shows entries under the wrong date

I just upgraded to iOS4 and finding that my calendar entries are appearing under the wrong date in the calendar list view when I am viewing two calendars.
- List view is ok when viewing 1 calendar
- Day and Month views are ok at all times (ie: viewing single or multiple calendars)
- I have 2 Exchange accounts
- Calendar entries are appearing in the correct order, but under the incorrect date heading.
- When I intially added the Exchange accounts the calendar list view was fine at first (I could see both calendars correctly in list view) but after a short time later it became screwed up.
Anyone else experience this?

Same problem here since my upgrade to iOS4 - but I only noticed today.
I have 3 calendars set up:
Gmail (Exchange)
UK Holidays (iCal)
Birthdays
The exchange calendar is always wrong but the other two are correct when my exchange calendar is switched off.
It has mucked up my scheduling a bit for the next month. I only became suspicious when I noticed the Scottish Bank Holiday Monday at the beginning of August was showing on FRIDAY, 30th of July!

Notes snapping in the wrong position?

I am experiencing an annoying problem in Garage band 11 (6.0.4). I'm writing a music placing notes along the track and using software instruments. The problem is that after a while, the notes start to fall out of place and play on the wrong tempos. every time I try to fix their position, the notes always snap to wrong position again. Does Anyone have the same problem? Is this a bug?

When going to a # link in the same page, Firefox 4 seems to jump to the wrong spot, and I have to scroll to find the actual anchor, usually one screen down.

Visiting the Apple developer site, pages have a task list at the top of a very long page. When I click on a task which is linked to an anchor on the same page, the screen briefly flashes up the intended topic, then redraws content about a screen above what I wanted, so I have to scroll down to the topic I wanted to read.

It happens when I open the topic in a new tab. There's a sidebar that's not drawn when the initial flashup happens. Then the sidebar draws and the content gets pushed down so the topic I wanted is now below the visible screen.
When I jump to the anchor in the original tab, the sidebar is already there, and it goes to the right topic.

One of the rows I select while creating a view is a number.
Oracle Creates the view with the selected field as a varchar.
Why would oracle change a datatype of a selected column in the expressed view?

Consolidation Unit in the wrong position in Accounting Techniques tree

Hi all,
I'm facing a problem with a consolidation unit (A) in the Accounting Techniques tree (T1).
The issue is resolved when I delete the unit A from the consolidation group tree (T2) but, when I add the unit A to the consolidation group tree (T2) again, the unit appears in two places, and that is not correct.
I've tried to delete and move the unit through the Accounting techniques tree (T1), but the problem continues.
Can you help me??

In some cases it is standard for a cons unit to be included in the Acctg Techniques assignment multiple times. Because the assignments may different at various levels in the hierarchy, especially when not inherited downward.
One way to check this or change this is to check the assignments via the cons group view by clicking on the cons group and selecting View > Cons Group.

Overlayeffect work in Desktop viewer = always work in the tablet?

I wait for the new viewer for iPad, supporting the new folio builder. So now i only work with the Desktop viewer.
The "object state slideshow", with swipe-effect is the overlay-effect i have created.
In some of the state, i have GROUPED 2 objects, for example 1 product + 1 textfield with the productname.
I work great in the desktop viewer.
Is it going to work in the viewer on the iPad is my question?

To state whether or not your content will run properly has many factors to consider. Its a little hard to do it from a text description. I will say, issues that commonly occur when testing between the Desktop preview and the Ipad Content viewer usually surround memory consumption. Since the ipad is a mobile device it doesn't have the same amount of memory and CPU power that your computer would have. If you remember to keep the file formats correct and use appropriate compression you should be okay. I suggest reading up the documentation on "Best Practices on creating overlays" and just wait for the new Content viewer to get approved.
