Thumbnail View No Longer an Option

After a recent iPhoto update I can no longer see my pictures in thumbnail view. I used to be able to get into an "Event" and see all of the pictures within the event in thumbnail view.
By default, it will magnify one of the pictures in the event as if I selected it by double clicking. Has anyone else run into this issue. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. He probably had the slider at the bottom moved over to the far right.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • New Pages no longer allows SECTIONS (in thumbnail view window) to be re-arranged like before?

New Pages no longer allows SECTIONS (in thumbnail view window) to be re-arranged like before? You could drag and drop sections within your document the same way you could drag and drop pages in Preview's PDF documents. So how do you re-arrnage your document now?
    ALSO
You used to be able to duplicate/copy a section/page by draging it with OPTION-LEFT-CLICK to a space below or above in the thumbnial window. The same way it works in PREVIEW in a PDF document. Did I miss something or is this also a bug?!
These were extremely helpful to me and I hope many others. Can anyone help!?
    Thanks :-)

Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Thanks for keeping me updated!  Do you see the screen options displayed in the following link: http://bit.ly/T2koBL for changing the calendar view options in Kies Air?  Also, let me know if you're able to add a Reminder by following these steps: http://bit.ly/T2l9dY.  Keep me posted.  Thanks!

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to arrange songs on a playlist that has 100 songs? I used to be alble to double click and open a new page but that is no longer an option. Because you cant get a total view of the playlist it is almost impossible

I used to be alble to double click and open a new page but that is no longer an option. Because you cant get a total view of the playlist it is almost impossible.. if a song is in position 95 and I want to put it at 3 I have to hold it and drag it till the curor moves.. This makes creating an order almnost impossible because you cn only see half of the songs

This is a follow-up to the above question I had.
Since i noticed people looking at the question, but no replies showing up, i contacted BC support directly with the same question.
    I got a reply.
I did tests based on the reply.
Here is what is going on based on the reply.
(spoiler alert : It works... but it's not yet a perfect score.)
All the details are posted here :

  • Where has the "Clean up" "Clean up by" option gone for organizing folders? I just upgraded to OS X Maverick today and noticed it was no longer a option when right clicking; also, it is grayed out in the view tab.

  • Why can I no longer copy and paste a page in the thumbnails view?

We used to be able to copy and paste, even edit the order of the pages in thumbnail view. Why has ALL of this functionality been removed?! Or is there some special way to do it now that isn't as intuitive?

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 has had 90+ features removed and a load of bugs added.
Any sensible user will just say "Pass!"

  • Lost Thumbnail View of library suddenly!

I was transferring a photo that was misdated as a 2005 photo and when I went to look for it in the 2005 folder, I hit "organize" which usually brings me back to my preferred thumbnail view of all my shots in chronilogical order. Well, they are still in chron order from new to old but only full view is available. I have checked all the options on the toolbar, looked in preferences to see if there was an option to "view thumbnails". NOTHING. Any help?

Hi, Kristin. Your mistake was thinking it would be OK to move anything around inside your iPhoto Library folder. It isn't. Stay out of there at all times. Only iPhoto itself should ever arrange, rearrange, move, edit or rename anything inside that folder, as this quote from iPhoto Help indicates:
"Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder
If you move, delete, rename, or otherwise tamper with files or folders in the iPhoto Library folder, you may be unable to see your pictures in iPhoto."
This is a real annoyance, and it flies in the face of a core principle that all long-time Mac users take for granted: that they're in charge of where things are filed on their computers. But it's a fact, and you ignore it at your peril.
You may be able to regain access to your photo library by rebuilding it. To do so, hold down the Shift and Option keys while you open iPhoto, and click OK when you're asked if you want to rebuild the library.

  • No "Thumbnails" View?  ?

OK, I've labored long enough with the fundamentals... now I want to see if I can have some fun with this thing...
I just plugged in an SD card reader (none built in... bummer) and loaded in a card with some photos I took this afternoon with my Nikon D80. The card shows up, no prob (well, I did have to look for it) and I opened a the folder with the photos. Now I would like to see them in the folder.
On a Windows machine that's "thumbnails" view. But "thumbnails" is not one of the view options that I can find here on the Mac.
So, is there a "thumbnails" option somewhere else that I just haven't quite latched on to?
Gonna see what's up with iPhoto next...
    Thanks,
    --PS

    PS,
If what you want is viewing of photos, you need to get them into iPhoto. I know why you want what you describe, now that you have given a little more detail. What I suggest is that you try to adapt a bit. Once you do, I think you will find the tools that are now available to you are much more powerful than what you are used to. Just adapt a bit.
Use the Finder's "Slideshow" ability to filter what gets placed in iPhoto. Do this once with a batch of photos, then burn the originals to a data CD/DVD (label it, then put it away). TIP: When you close the slideshow, iPhoto will come to the front, then import all of the photos you selected to "send to iPhoto." Trouble is, these photos all get placed one-to-a-roll in iPhoto. No problem: simply select the bunch (click the first, find the last, then hold SHIFT and click it), then choose File>Create Film Roll.
Once you have your good photos in iPhoto, the sky's the limit. The key, here, is that you will always use iPhoto to handle, view, and manage your photos, not the Finder.
Alternatively, of course, you can just directly import into iPhoto from the camera or card every time, thereby leaving the Finder out of the equation entirely. iPhoto is designed for management of photos, and it usually does a much better job than you can ever do manually.

  • Uninstalling PS Album 2.0 removed windows thumbnail viewer

After uninstalling using control panel "add/remove" Now unable to view jpeg thumbnails in "My Pictures". Windows picture and fax viewer no longer in the drop down list of options to view pictures.
Anyone know how to re-install/ re-activate windows picture and fax viewer?
Is this a known bug with Album?
    Thanks
    John
PS: It was on a HP Pavillion A450, XP (auto updated)

    Jim,
Thank you, I thought about this and tried searching for it at Microsoft.com and came up empty. I think the thumnail viewer might be an integral part of windows and that during the uninstall it removed a DLL somewhere. Anyone know if it possible or where to download and re-install windows picture viewer?
    Thanks for the advise
    John

  • In Photoshop Express, cannot sort images in album by filename in thumbnail view (for slideshow)l.

In Photoshop Express, I want images to appear sorted by filename.  In the "view as a table" it sorts fine.  When I revert to the thumbnail view, the arrangement is random.  The dropdown "show" list does not offer an option for showing by filename.  If I select the"custom" option, it means I would need to sort 300 images by filename MANUALLY (!!!), a job that a computer does in milliseconds.  Anyone with a solution?  Thanks.

fwiw, with my images in the 'Folder Location' view the photos are in order by their Windows filename. That is the same order as the hardcopy album the photos came from. So I then created a PSE Album. I selected all my photos and moved them into that album. The order of the pictures was retained in the Album. That worked out great. I wanted my PSE images to be in the same order. I thought I would do it with tags. But creating an album seems to work just fine.

  • How do I move page order in Thumbnails view in the new pages? (which is driving me nuts btw)

I'm really struggling with the new pages, having used the old version so much I just can't get the hang of this one - so much has changed:( Really wish I hadn't bothered but now have too many documents created in it that I can't open on old version as it doesn't let you (mump mump - well I am scottish).
So in the old version I used thumbnail view to move about the order of the pages (really useful when making up artwork for magazines etc). Anyone know how to do it on the new version?
Also can't seem to view document in '2 up' - 2 pages side by side (also very handy for magazines etc).
Also the tables facility doesn't let you move borders of individual cells - you can only move the whole column - I can't even select them.
I could go on but will go before I start the 'pages shake'.

    Hilary,
Scottish or not, your best option is to retreat to the last good version of the app, Pages '09.
    Cut your losses.

  • How can i see the previews of a folder's images from the Thumbnail View?

I mean, in windows XP if you set the Thumbnail View, inside the icon of the folder you can see the preview of the images inside ( like this http://mowd.idv.tw/LonghornPDC/folder_preview.JPG )...
Is there a way to do it on Mac OS X? Maybe some plug-in, some file manager: anything...i often have to check out thousands of photos to find the reference for an illustration, and it's pretty frustrating having to open up every folder...
    Thanks in advance
    iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

but none of these two options allows me to see a folder's images BEFORE opening it...
You want to go back and try that again... just right click on the folder - you don't have to open it - and choose 'Show In PicturePopPro2'.
Check out the icons on the menu bar - you can get a contact sheet view, move from shot to shot using the arrow keys... it'll do what you want.

  • When I open a new tab, I want to see a thumbnail view of few recent pages. How to set that?

My friend uses Google Chrome browser, and when he openes a new tab he can see on it a thumbnail view of 6 or 8 recent visited pages. Vith a simple click on each of them he can revisit that pages.
I do not want to change my default browser (Firefox) but want to have that option.

There are several add-ons that allow you to do this, such as [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777/ New Tab Homepage] and [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2221/ NewTabURL].

  • Thumbnail view to Develop view... can I?

    Hey all,
I must admit I am mystified by Lightroom's UI. But I am learning, slowly.
One thing I have not yet figured out is how to get efficiently from the thumbnail view to the edit ("Develop") views. So I am constantly switching. All day long I go:
    1 - GO TO LIBRARY
    2 - SELECT THUMBNAILS
    3 - FIND THE IMAGE
    4 - GO TO DEVELOP
5 - Do my thing (mainly crop and straighten)
    6 - GO TO 1
This seems a lot of extra clicks. I would just like spend my time in one environment where I can do what I need, not constantly having to switch (twice for each image) from Library to Develop. Is there any way to do this? Is there a better workflow that I am missing?
I need the thumbnail view becasue I find the long ribbon useless. I come back with 400 pictures froma shoot and scrolling left and right in that ribbon is worse than useless: I get lost and it takes me more time that not doing it at all.
I am sure I am missing better ways to work. Any input appreciated.
    Michael

Cmd/Ctrl+F11 opens the second display window, which can be configured to show a Grid view. Clicking on a thumbnail in the second window opens that photo into Develop module.

  • How to display the thumbnail view of the documents in Sharepoint Document Library

Is there a way that we can have the thumbnail view of the documents that are uploaded in SharePoint Document Library. We have thumbnail feature in Picture Library but can we have the same in Document Library too. Documents includes Words,Excel,PDF.
    Any Suggestions Please

    Hey Mike,
Good post, I'd be curious to see if anyone has used the GD Picture SDK with SharePoint, maybe there would be some sample code.
    Hey Kukdai,
Developing your own solution would potentially provide a better way to accomplish your task, but before setting out on that long road you may want to try the simple customization, it's less time consuming and it will help gauge your customer's interest and
    support.
Also, there is a wealth of open source code for SharePoint available on CodePlex, you might want to check that out as well.  Here is the linK:

Also, here is an interesting project to consider for your task:

    I hope that helps!
