    Abdur,
In the sheet :: table :: cell that is going to receive the data, type an equals sign, then click on the cell that the data will come from and press Return.
This will require that you navigate to the origin cell by choosing the proper sheet.

  • How do I change the thumbnail for a video file?

Can I change the thumbnail for a video file (ex. .mov) in Bridge CS4?

Can I change the thumbnail for a video file (ex. .mov) in Bridge CS4?
Not to my knowledge. It seems it takes a snapshot from about the 10th second of the movie and creates a thumbnail for it. On a Mac the finder thumbnail shows the first frame of a movie, both don't seem to be able in getting customized.
It will be down to a good naming convention I'm afraid. Not having CS4 installed anymore but on Bridge CS6 .mov files play on an reasonable sized scale in good quality in the preview window, maybe that will help you?

  • No thumbnails for some videos in PE11 Organizer

I can view/edit MP4 videos that come from my phone, in PE11, but there is no thumbnail that shows up in the organizer.  It seems to be isolated to the MP4 videos from this device ... is this common, is there anything I can do to get thumbnails to be displayed (right clicking and ask for a new thumbnail to be generated doesn't work).

    Thanks for the reply, John.
My phone is a Sony Android.  And yes I can view/edit in PE (though I haven't really tried to do anything much in PE ... just verified it opens and recognizes/plays the video).
On a lark, after reading those posts, I went and got QT Pro, and tried exporting to AVI and the result imported to PE 11 organizer with a blank white icon.  Presumably, I'm sure, if I fiddled with the export options I guess I can make this work, but it would still be far preferable to have PE11 show some sort of thumbnail for the MP4 files if possible.  Windows explorer has no issue showing a thumbnail for these, nor have a couple other organizers I've tried, so this is definitely peculiar to the PE11 organizer.

  • How to see thumbnail for avi videos in finder?

I see thumbnail pictures for mpeg files but for all avi files it's just a blank white icon.
Is there some kind of video player I need to install to get this preview thumbnail to appear for avi files?
I have MIRO installed which plays them but still blank white icons in finder window.
    Thanks

    Scott,
Thanks but I got that far already setting my movie folder to show icon previews which it does.
But my problem is all the .mpeg movies DO show a picture on the icon, BUT only that extension shows an actual picture, where all my .avi movies only show a blank white icon with no picture from movie.
So my guess is that I am missing some kind of plug-in for the avi movies?
    Thanks
    Patrick
My avi movies default to QuickTime. I just changed that to VLC and the icon is now the VLC cone. The actual icon for many videos seems to be the first frame in the movie. I see this with .mp4 as well as .avi and .mov.
Interestingly after I reassigned QT to the avi I had changed to VLC, the VLC icon remains. Maybe a reboot will change it back?
Anyway, I like the first frame, usually the title to be the icon, but if you use VLC as the default you can change it to the cone.

  • Thumbnails for HD videos not appearing in Photoshop Organizer

How do I get thumbnails to appear in .mts (Canon HD) videos in Photoshop Organizer (bundled with Photoshop / Premiere 8?

    Hello A.T. Ramano,
First and foremost I would like to take you in advance for any and all help.  I will try to answer your question to the best of my abilities but please remember I'm not all that technically savvy in these matters.
    1.     Elements Organizer is version 8.0.  Premiere Elements is version 8.0.  I've tried to down load the update but get a message that is already installed.  Not to sure what you ment by sourse, unless you're wanting to know that Premiere was installed via DVD disks.
    2.     File extension for HD video files is (.mts).
    3.     The camera is a Canon Vixia HF S20.
    4.     I'm not sure where to look for compression levels.  Video quality is set at the highest level on the camera (MXP).
    5.     Thumbnails show up in the Premiere elements organizer (sometimes), but never in the Elements Organizer.
    6.     Haven't tried downloading the trial version of Premiere 9.0, that's next.  If that doesn't work was thinking about uninstalling Premiere 8.0 and re-installing it.
    7.     QuickTime Player is version 7.6.9.
    8.     Windows Media Player is version 11.0.6002.18311.
    9.     Pixela Image Mixer 3SE player is version 6.0.1.  Tried to update all three players and received a message that players were up to date.
    10.   Video is shot in 16:9 mode, Super Fine / 1920x1080, Cinema Mode progressive frame rate of (PF24).
    11.   Computer is a Dell Studio XPS laptop, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40 GHz, 4.0 GB of ram, Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit operating system service pack 2, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 video card with 1GB of on board ram.

  • Imovie is not generating thumbnails for MPG video files

    Hi everyone,
I have what I hope is a quick question with an easy solution.  I'm using iMovie '09 8.0.6 to make a movie for my parents of their granddaughter.  Imovie has generated thumbnails for all my video in iPhoto (most of which is .mov format), but two short clips (about a minute in length each) were apparently taken with a different camera and are in .mpg format.  For some reason, imovie is not generating thumbnails for these .mpg videos, though in the past I have never experienced a problem here.  What is wrong? What can I do to get these clips into iMovie or have iMovie generate these thumbnails?
    Thanks.

No, the orientation is not the issue, The first set of 4 imported videos were from a GoPro 3 camera, and the one that was lost doing an "update thumbnail" operation was also a GoPro3 fie.
Just now I did another experiment, I chose to update thumbnail from a video file created with my Pentax WG-3 and it worked.
I updated thumbnail on a horizontal and verticle video from my Galaxy S3, and now those are also gone with no thumbnail...
So far the only one that actually works for me is the Pentax video, which is a MOV file. , the GoPro 3 and Galaxy are mp4 files, so it's possible that the mp4 format has something to do with it. This is very frustrating losing my thumbnails like this.... Luckily I have not deleted ver11 yet.
I hope they repair this issue soon.
Thanks for the help so far,

  • Elements Organizer 12 doesn't generate thumbnails for .mpg videos produced by Premiere Elements

    I just upgraded from Elements+Premiere 11 to version 12, on Windows 8.1 x64.
I produced a 1st .mpg file (HDTV 1080p 25 img/s), and imported it in Elements Organizer.
Unfortunately, the Organizer doesn't generate any thumbnail for the file.
This is a new "behavior" of the Organizer 12, because the Organizer 11 use to generate thumbnails properly.
I tried to manually update the thumbnail (right click), but after waiting several seconds, there is still no thumbnail appearing.
    Olivier

    Olivier
Here are the results from my test of your situation where you tried to import 3 Premiere Elements 12 created files into the Elements Organizer 12 after their creation and save to the hard drive.
The 3 files from Premiere Elements 12 were
Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG with Presets = HDTV 1080p25 High Quality
Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG with Presets = HDTV 720p25 High Quality
    Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG with Presets = HD 720p25
The same scheme was used for each, and the results were the same for each...
Imported into Elements Organizer 12, File Menu/Photos and Videos/Files and Folders.
In the Elements Organizer 12, each imported with a thumbnail displaying only a filmstrip icon.
Next I double click the thumbnail and got playback of the video in the Elements Organizer 12 without issue.
Next I right clicked the thumbnail and selected Update Thumbnail. It did within a few seconds. The thumbnail then displayed the first frame of the video.
I ran this test on a laptop with Windows 8.1 64 bit computer operating system. Installed on this computer along with Premiere Elements 12...QuickTime latest version, iTunes latest version, a PowerDVD player. Windows Media Player 12 appeared to be there but not yet activated. No VLC player or other.
For the moment I am assuming that codec were essentially from QuickTime and from what Premiere Elements 12 brought along.
    More later.

  • Is there a way to change the thumbnails for movies/videos?

This may be more of a Leopard question, but I'm wondering if there's a way to change the thumbnail that OSX and Front Row display of movie files. I think this feature is awesome but would love to have more control over it so I can pick a frame from the video that relevant to me. Imagine Front Row's menu for movies with a bunch of thumbnails that are title screens or your favorite scenes from your movie collection (rather than a random thumbnail that may or may not even be identifiable to that movie).
I've already included this request to Apple in a suggestion I sent along including a few other Front Row requests/suggestions I had including movie/video playlists, album art support over streaming/shared libraries, and music that doesn't stop playing when you return to the main menu.

It appears that "saving" doesn't impact the quality, but wraps the file up in the .mov format (size and quality appear to stay the same). It worked ("saving" instead of using the save as a reference movie seems to fix the starting playback from the poster-frame issue). However, now a new issue has come up... I like to save the files to DVD as the original .avi so they will play on our Philips DVD players. However, being wrapped up in .mov means I have to have two versions of the file, and if my HDD ever dies or fills up I'll have to always correct the poster frame, and save another copy from the .avi original. Kind of frustrating... I wish Front Row/Quick Time would let you easily change the thumbnail and not have to change the format, etc.
Thanks everyone for your help. Hopefully some of this feedback has helped others with similar questions.

  • IMovie gets stuck while creating thumbnails for iPhoto Videos

    Hello,
I've just got iLife 09. When I opened iMovie (with all the latest patches) it asked me if I want to create iPhoto thumbnaisl. I said yes and iMovie started to do something. At a certrain point the progress bar stopped moving and didn't move until I killed iMovie. If I do the same now, not even the progress bar show up and "remaining time" keeps empty.
Can anyone tell me how to convince iMovie to create those thumbnails?
My iPhoto contains about 6000 images and 42 iPhone movies.
    Thanks
    Bernd

Give this sequence a try, it may help you isolate your issue:
    _*RUN SOFTWARE UPDATE*_
Before starting the steps below, make sure you are running the latest software update.
    _*REMOVE 3RD PARTY PLUGINS*_
Some 3rd party plugins may be interfering with iMovie.
Here are the only 2 files IN MY QUICKTIME FOLDER:
    . . . . . . . . . . . . / Library / QuickTime / AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    . . . . . . . . . . . . / Library / QuickTime / AppleMPEG2Codec.component
If you do have more than the 2 files listed above, temporarily move the "NON APPLE" components outside of the QuickTime folder, Reboot the Mac.
_*TEMPORARILY CREATE A NEW IPHOTO LIBRARY*_
    _ Quit all your Apps
_ Hold-down the [Option] key and click on the iPhoto icon
_ Click "Create New.." and enter a new iPhoto Library name -- I used "Empty_Library"
    _ Click "Save"
    _ Quit iPhoto
    _*FRESH LAUNCH OF IMOVIE*_
    _ Delete the iMovie Plist: /Users/ {your username} /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    _ Launch iMovie
Does iMovie starts-up properly without your old iPhoto Library?
If so, your old iPhoto Library may contain a video file / files that are not compatible with iMovie.
_*TRY RE-LOADING YOUR OLD IPHOTO LIBRARY*_
    _ Quit all your Apps
_ Hold-down the [Option] key and click on the iPhoto icon
_ Select your old iPhoto Library from the list
    _ Click "Choose"
    _ Quit iPhoto
    _ Launch iMovie
Does iMovie starts-up properly with your old iPhoto Library?
If not, try removing the bad video file / files from your iPhoto Library (if you know which one it is).
Just make sure to back-up those files before removing them from your iPhoto Library.
Let me know if that helps.

  • Imovie freeze on generating thumbnail for iphoto videos

When I open imovie, there is a message that says "do you want to generate iphoto video thumbmails?" now or later.  As I have iphoto videos missing in imovie, i press on now.  It then says that a certain movie is missing and then freezes and I cannot quit imovie.

    Hi there,
I would recommend trying the troubleshooting steps described in the article below.

  • Thumbnails no longer appear for .dv video files - Please help!

I have about 10,000 .dv files on my hard drive and every since installing Mavericks, the thumbnails have disappeared. I see that if I try to open them, QT automatically converts them to a .mov file.  This isn't really a solution since I import them into my video editing software and I just need to be able to see the thumbnails to tell which video file is which.
I guess either of the two solutions would work, but I don't know where to go about looking for the anwer:
I either need to be able to:
    1. Get the video thumbnails to show up again for .dv files in Mavericks
    or
    2. Find a way to batch convert about 10,000 .dv files to .mov so the thumbnails will again appear.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you for your help.

I've exhausted all the searching I can online and I've come up with nothing.  Looks like my only solution is to use a program like Wondershare Video Converter and convert all the .dv files into .mov one directory at a time.
I did one test and it took a couple of hours for the first directory, and I've got about 200 directories of files to convert.
Usually, I'm not one to be upset by things Apple changes in their OS, but this is one of those things where I simply cannot figure out why they would have removed the thumbnails for a video type.  One that has existed for many years.
    Strange.
If anyone thinks of any other solution, please let me know.  I'm probably not going to do the conversion for a couple of weeks in hopes that another solution does come up.
    Thanks for your help!

  • APE 10: How to select a frame be the thumbnail for the exported video file?

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and using Windows 7. I create a title and place it as the first clip in the Sceneline. When I export the video and look at the file using Windows Explorer folder view, the thumbnail shown is a frame from another clip and not the clip containing the title. How can I get the title to be used as the thumbnail for exported video files?

Hi Bill, thanks for your thoughts on this.
The file created is indeed the one intended and in the correct folder. When I double-click on the file the video is played and the first thing I see is the title. So the video created has what I expect. Go figure.
I'm starting to think that there might be a Windows setting that determines how Windows Explorer picks the frame to be used as the thumbnail for video files. I have not found any reference to it so far.
    Here is some new info...
If I replace the first clip that has the title with another clip, then the thumbnail is created from that first clip. As soon as I add the title as the first clip, then the thumbnail is created from the second clip.
OK ---- I just found information that states that the thumbnails are created by Windows and placed in a file that act as a cache for the thumbnails. This prevents Windows Explorer from generating the thumbnails each time the folder is viewed. In my computer (64-bit Win 7), the thumnail cache files are stored in folder "C:\Users\Ramon\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer". They have an extension of ".db". I found the information at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_thumbnail_cache

  • Any way to change default point where iTunes creates thumbnail for videos?

Is there any way to change the default point in time where iTunes creates its own auto-generated thumbnail previews for videos when you drag them into your Library and view them all using the "Movies" section in the left panel?
So when you look at them all using Cover Flow view, for example.
I know you change the thumbnail for each video after the fact, or even batch-add thumbnail artwork for several videos at once, but that's not what I'm after...
I have a WHOLE LOAD of videos that are non-sensically named (Y1_D1-4, etc.), and I want to import them all into iTunes.
Of course I will also need to change the NAMES of these movies as well.
They are actually TV shows, which illustrates the following point:
What all these "movies" have in common is that their intro sequences are all EXACTLY the same length, before they then show the title of the particular show.
Now, if I could get iTunes to use this point in time as it's setting for creating default thumbnails, that would help me in two ways:
Firstly, it would create the thumbnail that I want, and secondly, it would also show me the title of the show, so I could easily re-name the file there and then, without having to scrub back and forth, to find the name of the show.
    Any clues anyone...?

    Eric Willhelm wrote:
I'm wondering, is there any way to change this so I don't have to click three times to get to that last point, where the cursor is placed in the filename and ready to edit?
I don't have a direct answer to your question, but you can speed up what you're doing by pressing the "return" key after the first click instead of pausing, then clicking a second time.

  • Thumbnails for AVI?

I get a thumbnail for WMV video files but not for AVI video file using Bridge V2.1.1.9. I do get an AVI thumbnail if I open the file in windows explorer so the computer knows how to do it. Is this a file association thing? It is set to none right now.
Does anyone know how to get the thumbs to show in Bridge??
