Thumbnails regenerating...HELP

The thumbnails are constantly refreshing which makes the program run super slowly. How can I get these thumbnails to save?

Try this cure:
http://www.bagelturf.com/files/b4121da4f98b1b9c219e6062fc12f13f-946.html
It involves deleting the thumbnail files in the library. You can combine the information in that article with the technique for finding and deleting all files with a particular extension in this article:

  • Is there a workaround for the thumbnail regeneration issue in CS5?

    Hullo.
A friend uses my old version of CS5 and she is stuck with ACR 6.7, because this is the last version available in CS5.
She seems to have huge problems in Bridge with the thumbnail regeneration bug described here, for instance: Cropping to an edge confuses Adobe Bridge?
Concretely, although she has a relatively powerful machine, she is unable to work because there are always tens and tens of thumbnails being generated and her eight virtual cores completely fill the disk bandwidth, making Bridge impossible to use. I am not 100% sure that it is exactly this bug, but everything seems to correspond perfectly well: hundreds of DNG files with lens correction activated and very many cropped manually.
Now, this is a confirmed bug of ACR 6.7 until ACR 8.2. She cannot switch to the latter without purchasing a newer version of Photoshop/Bridge.
Does Adobe provide any fix for this bug in CS5? Could someone kindly point me to it? Her version of Bridge is simply unusable as is....
If the answer above is no, I would be interested to know if this seems legal (not to say ethical...) to anybody: she is (otherwise) pretty happy with CS5 and she would need to buy a new licence for the sole and exclusive reason that the product Adobe sold me has a known and proven bug which makes it virtually useless in her setting.
    Thanks,
    p.

    There are two similar bugs:
The LPC+crop bug started with ACR 6.1 and was fixed in 8.2.
The LPC mystery bug started with ACR 7.3 and was fixed in 8.6.
Both bugs cause repeated thumbnail extractions in Bridge on some images with Lens Profile Corrections enabled.
As you are on ACR 6.7 it can only be the first bug. The only workaround I know is to ensure that the crop does not touch the edge of the corrected image. A few pixels gap will do it. Also, it helps to keep less images in a folder--but this can't be avoided when using Collections or Finds.
I'd imagine that Adobe won't fix CS5 just for this. Presumably there's something in the smallprint which admonishes them from responsibility after the shelf life of the product ends. To be fair, it's not like they fixed it straight away in CS6, unlike the Bridge CS5 database bug (thanks, Adobe). They were only able to reproduce the fault in summer 2013.

  • Bridge CC and the constant thumbnail regeneration problem.

I'm one of many who suffers from Bridge CC constantly regenerating thumbnails. There are multiple threads about the problem, with different descriptions and different theories of the cause.
I recently tried an experiment. I replaced Camera Raw.8bi (version 8) file in the CC folder with the Camera Raw.8bi file from my old CS6 folder (version 7.1.0.354). That worked OK. Bridge CC and Photoshop CC work with the older version of Camera Raw, and the constant regeneration of thumbnails ceased.
Unfortunately, installing the old version of Camera Raw causes Bridge CC to regenerate thumbnails for all folders on the first visit, even though the files are cached and unchanged. But after that first visit, no regeneration occurs.
I have no idea why that is, but I think the experiment gives good evidence that the problem lies in the Camera Raw code and not in the Bridge CC code itself.
None of the various threads I've seen give me any confidence that Adobe has acknowledged this problem, or is even aware of it. And I'm not sure of the best way to get their attention. I've seen references that say Adobe bug reporting should be done on the photoshop.com website. I've tried that in the far past for different issues, but with no success. However, with no known alternative, I've made the following post:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/bridge_cc_re_caching_thumbnails?rfm= 1
I encourage others to "reply" to that post. Maybe if enough people respond, Adobe will notice and acknowledge.
If anybody knows a better way to report bugs (and get acknowledgement), please share.

    Been there, done that:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/unneccesary_bridge_thumbnail_and_pre view_extraction
They know about it, they just don't know how to recreate it.
Best thing we can do is reliably recreate the fault. My workaround is to only enable Lens Profile Corrections when necessary, as it is a combination of that and some other factor(s) which seems to trigger it.
If you read all the discussions, you'll see that there are two bugs which produce the same symptoms. One introduced in probably ACR 6.1, whichg was fixed in 8.2; and the other was introduced in 7.3 and is ongoing.

  • IWeb stopped making thumbnails automatically - help!

I've been using iWeb for a couple weeks and when I write a blog entry, the photo I use on the entry page is automatically resized as a thumbnail and put on the index page. This is one of my favorite features. BUT! Yesterday it stopped doing this, and I don't know why or how to fix it despite searching everywhere.
Has anyone got any advice on how to fix?
    Thanks!

    Pixelgirl...
What happened is that you probably hit DELETE to take away the stock photo (skiers?) instead of simply dropping a new photo into the image placeholder box. This results in the image placeholder box getting deleted and the link to the preview image broken.
The only way to get the box back is to create a new entry and start that entry over. Don't hit DELETE! Just drag and drop a new picture in to replace the stock photo!

  • Thumbnail gallery help?

hi on my website i have a gellery with pictures that i made to be 100px by 100px. I want to make it so that when they are clicked they become larger (like the original photo). I know that when you link them to the original photo they open in a new window larger but i want them to open on a new page in the centre.
for example when you click on the pictures on this site
    http://eastercomptonfarmshop.co.uk/#/pictures/4536607029
    how do i do that?
    thanks in advance

That particular example is all done in Flash.  Of course if you don't have Flash then you don't see it.
You can achieve remarkably similar effects using jQuery (google it), or any of a number of different open-source packages like lightbox, litebox, thickbox, multibox, or commercial products like the LightShowMagic extension from http://www.projectseven.com.  If you are not an experienced developer, or are not familiar with wiring such open-source packages into your page, then do consider the PVII stuff.

  • I need PDF thumbnails in Vista 64

I'm running Acrobat Pro 9.1 in Vista 64.  I have approximately 50,000 PDF files in various folders.  And I rely completely on the thumbnail to help me quickly sort through droves of files.  I simply cannot function without the ability to view thumbnails within Windows Explorer.  Will someone please share the solution with me?

  • Bridge CC Thumbnails

have one folder with only 65 Canon raw pictures in it. Whenever I go to this folder, it will generate 25 thumbnails (info at bottom left). Even when I just minimise the window and again maximise it. Have purged the thumbnail and also tried deleting the cache folders, to no avail, it will always generate 25 thumbnail. It doesn't matter what thumbnail settings I use, it will do the same thing. All other folders are ok, some with 3000 photos in it
    What could I do?

    See this: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1115020
On second thoughts, don't. There's 14 pages of it.
Which version of Camera Raw are you running?
There's been a bug in ACR since at least version 6 (and maybe even earlier), where some crop settings can cause thumbnail regeneration in Bridge. Also, since ACR 7.3, there has been another (undiagnosed) metadata condition which causes even more regenerations.
We have been assured that the Camera Raw team has been alerted to this. Hopefully there will be a fix in ACR 8.2, but try not to hold your breath while you wait.

  • Viewing RAW file thumbnails in Adobe Bridge

Hello folks have a problem which is driving me crazy and I'm hoping someone might be able to give me some pointers. Until recently I was able to view my NEF RAW files as thumbnails in Bridge, click on them and they open in camera raw fine. But all of a sudden though, as I open a folder in bridge I get a brief display of thumbnails which then all convert to just a white sheet icon. If i click on any of these identical icons then the file opens as normal in camera raw,but I cant see the thumbnail preview to know which shot is which. Has anyone had/solved this problem - any ideas as to what it might be causing it? All ideas gratefully received. I am using Elements 8 and Bridge CS4. I have looked through Adobes threads and they had some trouble shooting tips on the issue but these have not worked.
One of the issues they mentioned was checking if your bridge files were in the right place. I am not sure if the bridge file should be inside the Elements file or or not - i am wondering if this might be the problem as i accidentally moved my bridge file and then moved it back to the applications file - so i have included a screen grab of where my files are. and this is what the NEF - RAW thumb looks like instead of a thumbnail
Any help or pointers very GRATEFULLY received

Since no one else, like Barbara has replied more to this, at least publically, I will give some suggestions although I'm a Windows user and it would seem you're on a Mac.
The momentary flashes of image followed by a white sheet icon means that Bridge is initially showing you the camera-embedded JPG preview image, which typically has black bars, and then what is supposed to happen is Bridge uses its ACR to render each RAW using Adobe settings and recreate a new preview.  Apparently something is wrong with Bridge's usage of ACR so the Adobe-specific preview never gets created.
Your "new" D300 has been supported since CS3 ACR 4.3.1 so it isn't your CS4 ACR version being older than your camera that is the problem, unless the model of camera was mis-reported.
A clarification question: is it the case that NEFs from both your older camera and the newer D300 fail, now, in Bridge?  Another question would be what version of ACR is being used in Bridge and what is being used in Elements.  You can figure this out by doing Help / Plug-ins... / Camera RAW in Elements and maybe there is something similar in the Bridge preferences area.
As far as what could be wrong:  on a Mac, I believe there is one ACR plug-in for Bridge and another ACR plug-in for Elements, but I have no way to verify where to look on the Mac for them.  Your symptoms suggest that the PSE ACR is ok, and the Bridge ACR went missing or was damaged, recently, and you may be able to fix things by updating the Bridge CS4 ACR plug-in on the Mac to whatever it thinks it needs, or ACR 5.7 if you want the newest one compatible with both CS4 and PSE8, although PSE8 can be updated to ACR 6.1 which wouldn't be compatible with Bridge CS4.
First, try to use Bridge / Help / Updates to check for a new version of ACR and install one if it finds one to install.  If it sees nothing to update, then try to manually install it via the instructions on the Mac-ACR 5.7 updates page.  There is an install for CS4 and an install for PSE 8.  It isn't clear if you can merely use the update for PSE 8 or need to also do the update for CS4.  I would try both updates if you can find folders that match both the PSE and CS4 ones mentioned in the instructions.
To find the ACR 5.7 update for your Mac:
    Go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Change the drop-down up top to Camera RAW - Macintosh and Go
Click on the ACR 5.7 link.
On the page that comes up there is a download and instructions for various products including PSE 8.
You may need to clear your previews cache, again, after installing.

  • Building Thumbnails is taking soooo long

When I first went to open iMovie '08, I'd just finished filming a pair of high school basketball games, and had loaded them into iPhoto. It said it needed to build the thumbnails, and gave me a choice of doing it "now" or "later". I chose to do it now, and proceeded to wait for the next 90 minutes as it ostensibly built the thumbnails. I fiddled around for a bit, then closed iMovie, intending to get back to it later. The next time I opened iMovie, it had to build the thumbnails again! Now these two games fit onto one 4GB SD card. We're not talking about several hundred gigs of video here. Am I honestly going to have to wait for upwards of 90 minutes EVERY TIME I go to use iMovie? Is there a way to save the thumbnails? Help!

Dan, I feel your pain. Plug in an external hard drive and the program launches into generating thumbnails. Import a second clip from a camera and it generates thumbnails from that clip AND clips already imported! This insane waste of time has ruined this program! I am back to a much older copy of imovie. That is the only way I have figured out how to get a simple movie made quickly! Wasn't that the point, Apple?

  • How do I erase all the thumbnails in new tab?

I didn't check the thumbanils in new tab for a long time, and now there a lot of these from my history, my question is how do I erase them without clicking the X mark again an again on every one?

If you click the X then you place those items in the blocked list.
That is the browser.newtabpage.blocked pref that you can inspect on the <b>about:config</b> page.
Note that Firefox still creates thumbnails of visited pages in the thumbnails folder when you disable the about:newtab page or aren't using it.
You can create this Boolean pref on the about:config page to prevent Firefox from generating thumbnails for the about:newtab page.
    *name: browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled with value: true
You can delete the thumbnails folder in the Firefox profile folder to remove already stored web page thumbnails.

  • Frame accurate editing help required.

Is there no iMovie 11 Help section that instructs you how to edit a movie (cut footage out you no longer require etc.), preferably to the frame.
The Get Started section of help jumps from Lesson 3 adding video to Lesson 4 Enhancing your project.
    Is it me?

Thanks, thumbnail slider helps but actual frame editing seems a bit hit and miss, sometimes works sometimes doesn't (sometimes cuts 2 frames rather than 1), I found it easier (and more accurate) to cut a few frames away from where i wanted and then select an individual frame and move this using the Left and Right cursor keys before deleting the unwanted frame(s) using Cmd+X to cut selected frames.
BTW I eventually found some editing help in Browse help (there is none in the Get started section, although it is demonstrated in a video in lesson 3, 'Add video to your project') but it was well hidden!
Browse help/Create an iMovie project/Trim video clips/Trim unwanted frames from a video clip.
Why they hide it here i'll never know, surely everyone wants to trim their video, or is it just me,haha.
