Ti Polar MIDI connection to Logic Studio 8 (Really in Need of Help)

Hello virus and Logic Pro Users. I'm in need of desperate help and would appreciate anyones guidance with the issue I have. I have managed to connect my Ti Polar to Logic Studio 8. However, I have came across the issue of MIDI Channels.
So here is the problem:
For simplicity lets assume I have two tracks. Track 1 is piano, track 2 is strings. I set track 1 to MIDI channel 1 and track 2 to MIDI channel 2 on logic studio. Remember that all sounds are coming from the external device which is my Ti Polar. So, I record my piano track and I'm ready to move on to the second track. *NOW, when I click on the second track and change the keyboard's sound to strings, my first track (piano) changes to strings as well :(*
*What should I do to freeze or lock track one with the sound I assigned to it?*
Furthermore, *I want Logic studio 8 to be set in a way that when I click track 1, my virus Ti jump to the sound that I had set up (e.g. Piano) and when I click on track 2 the Ti automatically goes to the assigned sound (in this case strings).*
Plizzzzzz help me here. I've been trying to read the user manual for Logic and has helped me to some extent but I can't figure this one out.

Thanks for the help. I tried to figure out as much as possible and I think I did exactly what you said... went to environment and created a complete Ti 16 MIDI CHANNEL (16 small squares in a big square shaped thing.
Bust still... when I record track 1 and move on to track 2 - channel 2 to record (which on my access Ti keyboard I manually change its midi channel from 1 to 2 by going to Config section), when I play back, only midi channel 2 or basically the track that I just recorded (track 2) plays back. Track 1 stays silent. Also when I change the tracks (e.g selecting track 1), I don't see any changes on my keyboards screen. If it functions well, I believe, every time I change the track, the sound of the keyboard has to change to the specific sound I have assigned to. Please clarify this for me its so confusing and frustrating.... Thank you.

  • Projectmix, intel macbook, logic pro 8, please i need some help!

hi all, im pretty new to the world of DAW and interfaces, i recently upgraded to a macbook with logic from a yamaha aw1600 and ive been loving it.
finally got the funds together to purchase an m-audio projectmix i/0 and ive been so exited to crack on with some recording. the initial setup didn't go great, but i eventually found the correct driver for it. the surface works great as a controller at this stage. so i can't wait to get recording audio with it, and this is where the problem hits, NO AUDIO!
i really am getting highly frustrated, this machine was meant to be the answer to my dreams. basically, all controller style settings work perfectly, soloing channels, adjusting levels, motorised faders move beautifully, etc, however, nothing comes out of the headphone outputs, or any output for that matter. so i thought, im sure im doing something wrong. i opened the driver program and sure enough, the driver appeared to have levels from the outputs, ie the headphone outputs and main outputs indicated that audio was being sent out to them, but putting the headphones on and turning up the overall level and headphone level does nothing. when plugging in the headphones there is the regular click and pop of plugging anything in. so there is something going correctly internally, but i dont know what.
furthermore, nothing appears to be going into the inputs of the device either. i tried plugging in a standard microphone and turning up the gain but even the signal led's didnt come on. nothing in, nothing out. so ultimately my device is just a controller so far..
i had planned also to get a presonus digimax D8 as an adat extension of the inputs, to upgrade to having 16 ins, however, with not getting any audio in so far, my dreams of 16 inputs are so far shattered..
ive tried installing, uninstalling, re installing the driver, ive followed the advice on m audio's website, etc, but nothing changes. ive done everything that i can think of or have found information on. im so frustrated its unbelieveable.
also, im new to the mac world, so any information on what leopard and tiger are, and what difference they provide would be great. how can i find out if my system is tiger or whatever? ive looked everywhere on my mac but cant see any indication. do you get tiger or leopard s free downloads? i dont have a clue.
any info about anything would be so helpful. ive read some posts saying there are problems with intel based macs and m audio products. if all else fails, ill have to sell in and get maybe 2 presonus firewire mic preamps and a seperate controller surface..
if anyone else is having a problem similar to this then please reply, otherwise ill cry myself to sleep for the rest of my life ha ha...
also, has anyone had similar connection/audio errors with presonus units?
    anything would help guys.

right, thanks, im getting there with the understanding now. can anyone help with the projectmix i/o? i think im just going to pass it on and get two presonus studio projects and daisy chain them, then get a seperate mackie control. can anyone approve of presonus stuff? is the firestudio project a wise choice? i realise it doesnt have toss link in/out, but i can firewire daisy chain them right?
    thanks chaps
    Hold on....
The Presonus FsP can be finicky too, I have one, they finally released a driver that allows the units to be daisy chained, but I don't think it's been field tested enough just yet. For the longest time driver development was in the can, however the latest ones are a big improvement. The Presonus stuff works best with Texas Instruments Firewire chips. I use a single PM for location recording on an older Acer PC laptop, then use it to mix on the G5.
Why don't we see if we can get the Projectmix working first?

  • So I've got logic studio 8. I need the latest version of logic pro and mainstage. how much do I pay or has buying upgrades since first emagic been futile ?

where do I get the discounts ... I aint paying full price ...would rather go to Albeton !!!!!

    What's the difference...
The price for the latest Logic in the App store is about the same as price of an upgrade... there is no discount.
For good or bad, you play Apple's way, or you play somewhere else. :-/

  • Advice needed on whether to reinstall Snow Leopard with Logic Studio 8

Prior to purchasing Snow Leopard upgrade, my Imac 3.06GHz 4GB RAM was running Logic studio 8 really nicely. Plugins include Realguitar 2, Abbey Rd drums, KorePlayer and I use the Tascam FireOne controller for audio. After installing Snow Leopard I noticed logic was overloading much easier than previously. This appeared to be that only one core of the CPU was showing activity and once that maxed out the system stopped. I decided after much frustration to wipe the iMac and revert to the original OS. However I dont think the situation has improved much - although I dont get logic hanging when I quit the application, I notice it still tends to run out of steam long before it did before. Now I am wondering whether to risk reinstalling the Snow Leopard upgrade as I would like to get a trackpad and a few other features I miss from SL. I am guessing from what I've read on the forum that many users are happy with Logic 8 studio on Snow Leopard and are not getting the same issues as myself. I've read the articles on load balancing cores etc, but what I dont understand is why I never had to bother with this before .. it all just worked fine!
If I do install the upgrade to SL, is there an easy way to reverse if I am not happy without having to completely reinstall everything? If I backup with time machine, will that enable me to revert back to the OS?
Sorry for such a long posting but advice would greatly be received! I also have a macbook pro which I havent tried installing snow leopard on yet, maybe I could try it out on that first?
    Many thanks
    Simon

Snow Leopard is for Logic 9 and higher. Or vice versa.
    Cheers

  • The synth pad sound Warm Pad has changed after upgrading from Logic Express 7 to Logic Studio

    Hello!
I have composed a lot of songs over the years using Logic Express 7, and my favourite synth pad sound there was a sound called Warm Pad (from the EXS24 Sampler).
A half a year ago I upgraded to Logic Studio, mainly because I needed WaveBurner. Happily, all my songs sounded exactly the same after the upgrade, except from 1 sound: The synth pad sound Warm Pad. It still got the same name and location, but the sound was replaced with a very sharp and much more distinct sound (not warm at all, in my ears at least).
I have tried to replace it with different synth pad sounds from the EXS24 Sampler, and the one I find to come most close to the old Warm Pad from Logic Express, is a synth pad sound called Pad 1. Still, I don’t think it sound exactly the same.
So, in order to finish all my songs and make an album, I ask you for help:
    1. Do you know how I can get EXACTLY the same sound as the old Warm Pad Logic Express, with my new Logic Studio?
    2. Have you experienced the same with sounds, after upgrading from one Logic version to a newer one? And what have you done to find back to the old sounds?
I will be VERY thankful for help, because I am not a genius in the mysterious (but yet exiting) world of synthesizer synthesis.
    Best regards,

I have the boxed version of logic studio.
When you install, if you pick the "ad hoc" installation you can add the logic7 patches to your existing patches.
I think running installation again you should be able to install just that.

I have the same problem, as well when I try logging in I get an error message,

I also have iTunes on my iPhone with no problems.

  • Help needed in connecting two midi keyboards to Logic Pro.

Hey there, I would like to connect two midi keyboards to Logic Pro and enable each keyboard to trigger separate software instruments each. For example, one keyboard has guitar and the other has strings.
I realise this must have something to do with midi channels or ports, however my knowledge is limited.
At current, I just have the two keyboards connected via usb straight to the computer. Is it possible I need a multi input or output interface, so that Logic can recognise different ports, or channels? Perhaps there is simply something I need to do in Logic itself? the keyboards are basic M-Audio midi controllers, just a usb port - thats it, no other connections. Any help would be great, Brad.

    Hey Brad,
yes you need also to change the out midi of the keyboards.
in my case I have the Keysation 61 es, it's done this way:
    "Channel
MIDI data from the keyboard can be sent on any of 16 MIDI Channels. However, certain MIDI devices and MIDI software applications require
the keyboard to send data on a specified channel. If this is the case, you can change the channel the data is sent using the following
    method:
< Press the Advanced Functions button to engage Edit Mode.
< Press one of the 16 Channel keys from D1 to E3, according to the Channel that you need.
For example, if a device specifies that you need to send data on Channel 10, press the Advanced Functions button, and then key F2 to select
    Channel 10.
The Channel can also be assigned to the Octave “+” and “-” buttons. Once assigned, pressing “+” or “-” will increase or decrease the channel
incrementally. When Channel 16 is reached and “+” is pressed, Channel 1 will be selected. If the Octave “+” and “-” keys are selected to vary
the Channel, the lights above the buttons will not change, since it is not possible to have a Channel with a negative value. Pressing both the
“+” and “-” buttons together will recall Channel 1."
Can you please tell me what keyboards do you have?
this is for two players having a go on completely 2 different parts.
In case you want to record 2 tracks with the same content say a piano and a pad,
all you need to do is open the tracks and rec enable both and you have piano pad.
Anyway I believe you need to have two separate sounds for two players?
Give us some more input of what you want, there must have one or more solutions to what you need.
    Cheers mate,
    Jorge

  • Logic Studio won't connect with M-Audio O2 USB keyboard

Recently had to reinstall Logic Studio 8 on my G5 Quad following a drive failure. Now, Logic no longer uses my M-Audio O2 USB as a MIDI in or out like it did before. The O2 works fine on my MacBook in Garageband. The G5 Quad sees the O2 plugged in according to System Profiler. Plus, whenever I plug/unplug the O2, I can see that Logic resets the MIDI drivers. What gives? And where do I go in OSX or Logic to manage this?

Hmm, if you've bought it fair 'n square Apple are always willing to replace a faulty disk, as far as I've heard. Ninety days or two years, doesn't matter. I don't know if that is 'official' policy though - maybe it depends on who you get to speak to... However, the 'genius' that installed your stuff cannot have used a corrupted disk... so either he used his own disks, OR the disk is not corrupted to begin with. But what you describe sure sounds like it...
So, bottom line, call Apple again, and ask for a replacement disk.
    Hope it works,
    regards, Erik.

  • Help: No more midi core -Logic Studio 8

    Hi all,
I run a very simple set up, my imac and an Mbox 2 to do standard home recording via Logic Studio.
2 weeks ago, I upgraded to Snow Leopard and today was the first day that I opened logic.
It came up with some error message saying I needed to get some update from PACE.... Instinctively I cancelled the pop-up and since then when I try to run logic, I have no midi-core process running in the background and as such, cant record using my midi interface....
Is there anything I can do?

  • Logic doesn's recognize my Roland TD3 MIDI connection.. HELP!

    Hi,
Maybe someone can help me with this. I am trying to use my Roland TD3 through a MIDI cable (TD3 MIDI OUT TO MBOX 2 MIDI IN) with Logic 9, but it doesn't seem to recognize the TD3 as I rescan for midi. I know MIDI is working just fine because I have an M-Audio keyboard controller hooked up via USB, and that works just fine triggering all the MIDI sounds.
My question is, how do I get Logic 9 to recognize the Roland TD3? is there a manual way to do this other than the obvious "add a midi device" under Applications/Utilities/MIDI setup.. which I've tried but still not reading it, or maybe I am not doing it right.
I would appreciate any help on this.
    Los.

I'm having the same exact problems with this cable and the Roland TD-6V. It has been driving me crazy. I'm ready to scrap the Midisport uno and go a different route. Does anyone know of an interface that will definitely take midi from a Roland?

  • Installing Logic Studio on an iBook g3?

I recently purchased an apple i book g3 on ebay, which i plan to use specifically for creating beats and music.. and i also recently came across Apple Logic Studio 8, did some research on it, and it seems like it's just what i need.
My question is, is it a bad idea to attempt to install Logic Studio on the g3? the minimum requirements for Logic appear to be just a bit more than what my laptop has for me to work with... The iBook i purchased has 900 mhz, 40gb, mac os x 10.4 tiger, those are mainly the only specs i am worried about..
Just by looking at the numbers i would assume it may not work, but then again i read a few posts from people on other message boards, using basically the same laptop, and installing logic express without any issues.
Either way ive already paid for the laptop so i am stuck using that for a while, but i REALLY want to get my hands on Logic Studio and work with that as well.. suggestions?

    +logic 7 System Requirements:+
(pro- and express have the same sys reqs - ES)
+* Macintosh computer with *PowerPC G4* or faster processor (G5 or dual G4 processors recommended)+
    +* Mac OS X v10.3 or later+
    +* 512 MB of RAM+
    +* 4 GB of available hard-drive space+
+* PowerPC G5 and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for Logic Node applications+
+* DVD drive for software installation+
+* Available USB port for XSKey (copy protection)+
    +* Low-latency multi-I/O audio hardware and MIDI interface recommended+
I think you should try to get an earlier Garageband (2.0.2, part of iLife '05):

  • Buzz/hum when connected to krk studio monitors

ok so i have an imac (3.06 ghz intel core duo). i had a klipshe 2.1 speaker system connected with no problems. then i bought a pair of krk rokit 6's studio monitors and just have a whole lot of humming now. so far ive connected headphones to my imac and no hum.... connected my ipod to the krk's and no hum..... connected my krk's to my macbook pro (while it was plugged into the same outlet as my imac) and no hum..... bought a m-audio fast track and connected the krk's through that to my imac and still it hums.... what gives? please help. thanks
    shawn

Shawn, I am getting a 1 KHz whine through Behringer Truth monitors using M-Audio USB Fast Track Ultra audio/midi interface with an iMac i5 27-inch with LED monitor. The whine occurs continuously from the moment I open Logic Studio or iTunes, when the output is routed through the Fast Track Ultra. The whine does not occur when I use the imac output to imac's speakers. I also get an electronic scraping noise when I use the blue tooth connected magic mouse. I have installed ferrites on the monitor speaker wires with no reduction in the whining noise or electronic scraping noise. I have also ordered the USB with ferrite collar to see if the connection between audio/midi interface and the imac is the source of the noise. I am considering a Hum-X, as well, but I am getting into serious money taking stabs at a problem for which there ought to be plenty of competent technical support. The fact that this whine is at 1 KHz and not lower suggests that I am not suffering a typical ground loop. I am a former Pro Tools user who never had a hum or whine from my Digi and G4, which I am seriously considering recomissioning so I can make music again. I am spending way too much time and money making educated guesses and trying to diagnose a problem that all but kills the utility and purpose of this new system. I too am calling on all great engineers to step up with a diagnosis and solution.

  • Im new, and trying to set up the keyboard to logic studio.

i have read some parts of the manual, and its HUGE and it doesnt tell my how to set it up.
i have a yamaha DGX-630-YPG-635 (if thats any help)
    and logic studio.
    i know this is vague.
what cables do i need, what software do i need, what pages in the manual do i need.

An interface is a basically a box with audio and midi inputs and outputs that connects to your computer via usb or firewire. It allows you to connect things like guitars, keyboards etc.
But your keyboard has a usb connection on it, so you won't need an interface. You will just need a usb cable for connection, and then you will need to install the drivers for your keyboard. The keyboard should have come with a disk containing the drivers, or you should be able to download them from the Yamaha website.

  • Guitar Rig/ Rig Kontrol problems in Logic Studio

I have recently upgraded from Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio. I never had any problems until the upgrade but now my Rig Kontrol 2 refuses to work claiming...
"The device 'RigKontrol2' could not be set up by the driver. This can be caused by bad USB connections or insufficient power on the bus."
I am using a USB direct from the back of the mac (and tried new leads) and have updated the drivers to the very latest version but nothing is working. I can still see Guitar Rig as an option amongst my inserts but as soon as I plug in the RigKontrol then ALL of my inserts blank out and no sound is output at all.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Many thanks Nick.

My only idea (and this comes from being an owner of Guitar Rig 2 w/ the Rig Kontrol for ALMOST two years now) is that the Rig Kontrol is a faulty piece of equipment. . . period. I regret purchasing it more than any purchase I've probably ever made. It was so faulty w/ Logic 7 and Pro Tools that I was like, screw this, and put it away in a closet and have never touched it since. The GT2 software is FANTASTIC. . . don't get my wrong, I love my Guitar Rig software, but the Rig Kontrol is a piece. NI's support for it is pretty poor too. It's probably just some kind of issue between Logic 8 and Rig Kontrol, however, try going into Audio/MIDI setup and getting it to recognize through there.
My advice would be to just ditch the Rig Kontrol.
