Time access control does not work

I set up the time access control for my kids devices, but they can still access the internet.

Several possibilities exist:
1) The Timed Access entries are not being set up correctly. Have you tested each device yourself?
2) The kids are smart enough to know how to work around the settings
3) The kids know how to get on another nearby wireless network.
Regarding 2) and 3), there are numerous popular sites on the Internet that kids visit that provide them with tips and techniques to get around security on popular routers, so that possibility may be more real than you might imagine.
Regarding 1), we may be able to help, as there are two basic ways to set up Timed Access.....one being quite a bit more secure than the other. Unfortunately, this means a more time consuming and tedious set up.

[SOLVED] xhost access control does not work for specified users

After last upgrade of xorg to v1.17.1-1 I get message: "unable to open display ":0" " when trying to run any window application as user specified in xhost. My xhost list looks like:
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
SI:localuser:steam
SI:localuser:root
But if I disable access control for everyone by invoking "xhost +" applications run on another accounts without problems. Does anyone has that problem too?

My Bose SIE2i volume control does not work. (pause/play does work). This is the secone set - the apple store in Sydney replaced the firsat set that had the same problem. It was working OK and has stopped.

Thanks again V.K. I did check the layout, and it was listed as alphabet when I inputted the password. So that doesn't seems to the the issue.
Just finished a truly mystifying experiment, but I put in a shorter password in the way mentioned earlier and it worked. I then systematically kept increasing the characters of that password and it seems that if the password starts to exceed about 16, it stops recognizing it. I am fairly sure it is not the password itself since it never gives an error when typing in the verification password. So unless I systematically make the exact mistake twice at the setup screen, and then don't or make a different mistake every time at the login screen, I don't think its my typing skill.
So problem solved for now, but I am still a bit worried. Maybe I should completely reinstall and use a shorter password.
Is there supposed to be a length limit?

I have the Apple MC184LL/A Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard. The brigtness control works with mine, as do most of the other functions.
Try cycling the keyboard off and on. Hold the power button until the green LED goes out. Then press it one more time to turn it back on.
You might try resetting the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings. Then you may need to reconnect your WiFi and Bluetooth.
If that doesn't help, try resetting/rebooting the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart in a couple of minutes. Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

Time capsule now does not work with Lion just installed.

Just downloaded Lion to Mac Air. Time capsule now does not work. Where is the problem?

Restart the TC.. lion is stupid.. it forgets what it is connected to with alarming frequency ... like someone suffering dementia.
If it continues to have issues, plug the TC directly to the lion computer by ethernet (if not already) and try again. Change the wireless to manual in airport utility and change the wireless name.. to force a new configuration. Once setup you can just use wireless.
In the end you may need to reset the TC.. just hold in the reset button for about 10sec. It should then become available.. a reset does not do anything to data on the hard drive but you might need to restore any passwords.

Mission Control does not work!!!!!!!!

I have recently Reformatted my mac and made it into 1 partition of 500gb just to run mac os x. I did it with the discs the laptop came with.
After OSx install was complete, I ran the os x lion downloaded from the app store and installed it too. After completely updating the system with software updates and my other software like ms office, vlc, flash, iLife etc.
I have found that the mission control does not work sometimes. It allows you to swipe from screen to screen but when when you swipe up.. It hides the top apple bar but nothing else happens.. Everything else is fine so far.
When I turn my mac on. If it gets stuck the only way to make it work again is to restart. Which is a bit annoying.. Plz tell me if it's a bug or something.
If that happens to someone else as well?

To create a user account:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Users & Groups. Click the lock icon to unlock it, and type an administrator name and password.
Click the Add button below the list of accounts, choosing a type of account Standard is fine) from the New Account pop-up menu.

Keyboard volume control does not work

I have an iMac G5, running OS 10.5.8, and a new Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad. My keyboard volume control does not work. Any have ideas as to why ? (I have a similar set-up at work with no volume problems.)

Try system prefs/keyboard/keyboard/ and uncheck Use all F1, F2 etc as standard function keys.
Other wise the volume and brightness controls will only work if you hold down the function key first (fn)

2002 G3 600 mhz iMac display stays dim with an unidentified sign displayed. The contrast control does not work.

Did you reset the PRAM? http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 And the pram battery may need to be replaced if it is over 3 years old it is under the iMac under the ram cover and there is a little button in there to reset the pmu as well. you have to have it pluged in when you do a pmu reset. there is a lot more stuff to try before the worst case scenario that is a bad PAV board the Pav is what runs the monitor and if it is going bad That may be a syptom that it is haveing and they can not be fixed (Well not for under $250 and that is useing old parts because they do not make them any more) but that wood be worst case scenario. Lets just hope it just needs to be reset Try that and Keep us posted

Answer:-
For a Name to work in iChat it has to be an Valid AIM screen Name.
Only Apple IDs from the @mac.com ending names registered here and the Mobileme (@Me.com ending) names are Valid with the AIM service as well as being Apple IDs
(I am still working on info about registering with iCloud at the moment but if this does give you an @Me.com email it may well be a valid AIM name as well)
NOTES:-
The @mac.com page works by linking an external (Non Apple) email with a @mac.com name.
This External Email cannot be one linked to an Existing Apple ID (you have to use a second email or register at AIM )
The options at AIM are to use your existing email or create new name and link the existing only for Password recovery
MobileMe (@me.com ending names) were valid Emails addresses, Apple IDs AND a Valid AIM Screen Name
@mac.com names look like emails but are only Apple IDs and iChat/AIM Valid Screen Names.
The AIM registration page seems to be pushing you to register [email protected] This is relatively new and I have not followed through the pages to find out if it a valid AIM email (Previously you could register a name without an @whatever.com suffix)

So I have my current [email protected] email in iChat as I thought as I had linked that to an Apple ID it was a Valid iChat Name. It keeps coming up with a UserName or Password Invalid message. What do I do next ?
Answer:-
Open iChat
Go to the Menu under the iChat name in the Menu Bar and then Preferences and then Accounts in the new window.
Commonly written as iChat > Preferences > Accounts as directions/actions to take.
If it displays with a Yellow running name in the list you have a choice.
Either register it at AIM (I would use a different password to the ISP Login) and then change the password only in iChat (It may take you to confirm any Confirmation email from AIM first) in iChat > Preferences > Accounts
Or you register a new Name at AIM (Or at @mac.com) and enter that (details below)
If you have a Blue Globe name (@mac.com) that will not Login the chances are that it the password that is the issue.
Apple lets you create longer passwords than can be used with the AIM Servers.
Change the Password at iForgot to no more than 16 characters.
Then change the password in iChat as details above.
Adding a new Account/Screen Name in iChat (that is valid with the AIM servers)
Open iChat if not launched.
Go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Click the Add ( + ) Button at the bottom of the list.
Choose in the top item drop down either @Mac.com or AIM depending on what you registered
Add the name (with @mac.com the software will add the @mac.com bit)
Add in the password. (If you don't add it now iChat will ask you each time you open it)
Click Done.
The Buddy List should open (New Window)
The Accounts part of the Preferences should now have the new name and you should be looking at the details.
You can add something in the Description line which will then title the Buddy List (Useful when you have two or more names) and make it show up as that in the iChat Menu > Accounts and the Window Menu of iChat when logged in.
You can then highlight any other Account/Screen Name you don't want to use and use the Minus ( - ) Button to delete it.

Deleting cookies, either one at a time or all, does not work; they reappear when I go back to view them. This is a critical privacy problem!

Removing cookies does not work, either one at a time, or remove all. I tried from history and from the options screen. They appear to go away but when I go back in they are all back again. This is happening in the latest version that was automatically updated.'''bold text'''

Do you have an extension like TACO (Abine) or TrackerBlock that maintains a set of OPT-OUT cookies?

In that case you need to remove such an extension to get rid of those cookies.

Time based stacking does not work for 0 seconds

Related to my previous note about stacking DNG with CR2, it appears that selecting 0 time interval for stacking does not work the way I would expect.
A 0 time interval for stacking should mean that all times that are exactly the same (ie. DNG from CR2 file) get merged. This does not happen. It would seem that a time interval of 1 second is required to stack a DNG that comes from a CR2 file together.
So if I have a CR2 file that was taken at 11:23:34 and convert it to DNG, I now have two files taken at 11:23:34.
If I use the "time based stacking" and select 0 second gap, they will not be stacked together.
I need to use a 1 second gap.
It would be nice to see this fixed

The Table Attends consists out of 3 columns, MatNr --> Type: Text, LVA --> Type: Text and Date--> Type: Date (also tested as Text, does not work either)
The column Date is empty, updates on the column matNr and LVA work perfect, but why not on Date?
I always get an Java.SQL.Error -> Syntax Error...

Having a column named Date is a terrible idea. It's a keyword in every database. Change that to something more meaningful for your problem. I'll assume you'll call it AttendanceDate.
Use PreparedStatement - it'll escape that Date properly for you:
