Time-based reminders set by Siri don't go off.

Any time I have Siri set a time-based reminder (i.e. "Remind me tomorrow at 8am to call Bob") the reminder never pops up. I have gone into the Reminders app and the app shows there with the proper time, but the alert never shows up at 8am. I'm on iOS 6.0.1 on an AT&T iPhone 5 bought directly from Apple.

I have same issue. Any news?

  • Reminders Created in iPhone don't go off in Outlook

We have quite a few iPhones in our organization syncing with Exchange server using Exchange Active Sync and we've noticed a problem with the new Reminders module in iOS 5. When a reminder is created in the iPhone with an alarm, it syncs properly with Outlook and the alarm is set properly in the Outlook task but the alarm only goes off on the iPhone, not in Outlook. If a Task is created in Outlook with a reminder, it syncs with the iPhone as expected and both alarms go off.
We also discovered that, when the reminder is created in the iPhone, if we open the task in Outlook after it syncs and then save the task, then the alarm goes off at in both places.
We were wondering if anyone else had seen this behavior and if there was any word on a fix?
    Thanks...Ray

  • Location based reminders don't trigger when screen is locked

I've tried using location based reminders a handful of times since installing iOS 5.  The one thing I've noticed about them (other than the battery drain), is that they don't work when the phone is in standby (i.e. screen is off).   Unlike time based reminders which will sound even when the phone is in standby.  Location based reminders will only remind you after you unlock the screen.
Here's an example based on a reminder I set today:
    1. I set a reminder to remind me to vote when I left my house.
    2. I left my house and drove about a 1/2 mile, all the while looking at my phone to see if the reminder triggered.
    3. Eventually I decided to press the home button and unlock the screen.  The moment I did so the reminder popped up.
Basically if I hadn't "remembered" about the reminder and unlocked the screen, I wouldn't get reminded until the next time I used my iPhone which could have been hours later.  I'd think considering the battery drain and constant use of GPS that it should remind me shortly after leaving my house.
Is this the way reminders are supposed to work?

In iOS7, location-based reminders won't fire if the Reminders app is explicitly terminated by the user.
That is if the user removes an application from the Multi-Tasking application list (brought up with a double-press of the Home button), iOS 7 will conclude that the user doesn't want this app to get any more run-time. That implies that Reminders won't be launched again to display your location-based reminders.
The Reminders app needs to be running in the foreground or to be put in the background for location-based reminders to work.
This is not a bug. This is intended behavior.

  • Location based reminders don't work

I have tried to use Siri to take an instruction such as ' remind me when I get to 'a location'  but I get the ' I can only remind you when I have a time'.
I have done the following :
    Go to the place
Open G maps and select the arrow to mark the location
Click on the arrow and add / edit contacts with the location details.
    However, it doesn't work.
Is there some 'trick' to make Siri understand how to understand the location after you've saved it to contacts ?
'Remind me to do something when I leave here' works fine but 'Remind me to do something when I arrive somewhere' does not.
It's like Siri doesn't know the location even after it's been saved to contacts using the G maps app.

I am partly wrong in that the iPhone 4 also supports location based reminders, but I am correct that the 3GS does not. It was supported in the initial beta builds of iOS 5 while it was going out to developers, but there were a lot of bugs with it due to some hardware limitations that prevented accurate GPS fence locations to be processed. The final build of iOS 5 does not offer support for the 3GS. I'm not just making that up. The official user guide that Apple supplies indicates it on page 95. Here's a link.

  • TS4079 problems with siri using location based reminders

When i tell siri to remind me to stop by the store when i leave work today i get a error message.  The message states my calendar service does not allow me to set location based reminders.  I thought this was something that siri does.  Any help fixing this problem is greatlhy appreciated.

I had the same problem, after reseting the phone and restoring, it worked for a while. The root of the problem stems from using and Exchange mail account. The reminders are set to exchange tasks and it won't work for location-based reminders. The solution can be found at this link:

  • Location based reminders don't work in ios7 ?

after upgrading to ios7 on my iphone 4s the location based reminders don't work if the reminder-app is not open in multitasking.
on ios6 the location based reminders work fine even if the reminders-app is not open and not in background.
is this a bug? the background update option for reminders is activated in the options.
    any ideas?

I just got a 5.  when I try to use Siri for remeinders (yes location services and siri are enabled) I get the following message:  "Your calendar service which keeps track of your reminders doesn't allow loaction based reminders"  Is this a Microsoft Exchange conflict?  Is there a fix?

  • Set time in Reminders

    Hi,
I have heard that there is a shortcut to set a alarm time in Reminders. If you use Swedish as default language you can write i.e. "Call mum kl13.00" or something like that. In English it would something be like "Call mum 13.00h".
Does anybody know this future, and more exact how to use it? And if there are other cool shortcuts for date's etc.
    Many thanks!

First of activate Speech & Dictation from System Preferences, you will be offered a warning!  If you do activate Speech & Dictation then open the Reminders app, place your cursor in the list on the right, tap the fn key twice then say what you want... Call mother 29th of September at 4 PM press fn key once to finish.
Note: the fn key is the default activation key but it can be changed to suit your needs.

  • How do you set location based reminders with location restrictions turned on?

I can set location based reminders with location restrictions turned off, but I want them on. Otherwise if I lost or if somebody stole my iPhone they could just turn off the find my iPhone function. Yet if I have location services restricted to prevent this then location based reminders are unavailable. Any help would be appreciated

The mode was set for 6:00 pm,  ran at 2:00 pm.
changed it to 8:00 pm it then ran at 4:00 pm
when creating the mode it said that EST after the begin time, so it knows the correct time zone that I am in

    Paul,
Can you elaborate on where you applied the configuration. I have a scenario where Rightfax sends the call to CUCM via an H323 trunk, then CUCM sends the call to the PSTN Gateway and then out to the PSTN. I am experiencing the same issue where the call disconnects before the destination fax answers if it is set to ring 3 or 4 times before answering.
I'm not sure that I understand what you mean by splitting the incoming and outgoing dialpeer. I have the following dialpeer to match and route my outbound number to the PSTN.
    dial-peer voice 92 pots
      translation-profile incoming PREFIX-9
    translation-profile outgoing CALLERID
    destination-pattern 91[2-9]..[2-9]......
    progress_ind setup enable 3
    progress_ind progress enable 8
    port 0/0/0:23
    forward-digits 11
I appreciate any help you can provide.

  • How can I set the time in Time-based Access control ??

I live in Denmark, where we use the 24 hour system.
So I want to set the time-based access control to from 7.00 in the morning to 2.00 at night, but every time the Timecapsule says wrong time format, I can use the night time 23.59, but thats not late enough.

Set two controls.. 7 to 23.59 and 00.01 to 00.20
This is common as the control cannot handle times longer than 1day.

Have they called you back? I have opened a similar support case too today, they does not know what to do and they will speak with some engineer, but now that I have found this post...I think we just have to wait for a new minor release...anyway our devices (2 and the new if cellular) must be supported http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4970

  • Siri keeps telling me "your calendar does not support location-based reminders" when I ask her to remind me to feed the cat when I get home. My address is in contacts and it has worked previously. Did iOS 8 change something?

calendar does not support location-based reminders....
i Just found a similar question below and it resolved my issue. Turn off the sync to exchange email and all works fine now.

Couldn't agree more.  I've been *trying* to use location reminders ever since buying my iPhone 4S but as yet, out of many, many attempts they've only actually worked once.
The kid problem is very simple, the way the phone needs the location to be an address in your address book, and it's subsequent inability to correctly locate the address. My home address is a correct postal address, and has been unchanged for 40+ years, yet clicking on my address from my own contact entry puts my location some distance down my street.
Whilst I understand the issue with the address lookup, it seems to be a massive problem with the location based reminders as it's just not possible to set useful reminders.
What if I want to remind myself of something when I arrive at the car park on a shopping trip?  There is no address for that in my contacts, I just want to pinpoint the location on the maps and say 'remind me when I get there'.  Surely that's the simplest my far.  Same with address book contacts, if you had a field with the gps position in then one could tag the locations and know they were 100% accurate for location services.
Such a shame as it's one of the key reasons I upgraded my phone and as it stands it just plain doesn't work.

Are you getting Airport confused with Airplay?
Secondly, I don't think a Mac can be used as an Airplay receiver.  You'll need an Apple TV for that.  There are third-party software packages that can turn your computer in to an Airplay receiver, but I'm not sure what the rules are about mentioning them here on Apple's forums.
    Hint: google "airplay software"
