Time Capsule + Wired Connection for Xbox 360 Problom

i just bought a eithernet wire for time capsule since my my wireless network aint working i got it to work for my ps3 no problom but appertly the 360 is doomed all the way around it ses thers a problom with my ip adress when it seems fine im verry comfused at this matter is ther a way to fix this problom or even get the wireless way back aswell much aprecited

XBox360 could connect to an Express which is wirelessly or ethernet to the TC. You should be able to connect wireless to TC anyway w/o the Express. When testing that xbox360 go to "other." Change security password to WEP from WPA2 if you have to...

  • Time Capsule As Internet Connection for XBox 360

I just got a refurb 500 GB Time Capsule today. Is it possible to use it to connect to my wireless network and then use an ethernet port to hook up my XBox for internet? I have a Linksys WRT54G as my current wireless router. My Xbox isn't near the router and I don't have the wireless adapter for my Xbox, I usually do internet connection sharing on my laptop and plug the Xbox into the ethernet port on my laptop.
    Thanks!

If your Windows boxes are on the same WiFi network, that could be. I use to work with PC's and Macs combined. Not to bash Windows , but a number of problems we had were always Windows related.
You might try and just unhook your Windows boxes and see if it goes away! LOL

  • Time Capsule, hardwired to TWO xbox 360's, and NAT issues.

    Hello All,
I currently have an older Linksys WRT54G (version 1.0 LOL) which has been working fine for years. I recently bought my son an XBOX 360 for Christmas and we went through the issues of NAT and Call of Duty, and basically I have become quite knowledgeable on this topic. I recently added a SECOND XBOX 360, as it became apparent that one would not do with three boys in the house (Plus COD is a blast on line).
So I created a second Live Account and got the two xbox's running online stably with NAT wide open on both. This required abandoning the Linksys Firmware and installing "Tomato" on the WRT54G. That works GREAT. No modifications were required for the rest of the network including...
Macbook by Wifi, Minimac Hardwired (ya ya wifi works but hardwire is better), Airport Express (used only to stream music to stereo in family room - from ANY PC/MAC running Itunes...Itunes is VERY NICE), HP printer with network adapter, 5 other PC's including a mix of VISTA, XP, XP Pro, and multiple IPHONES, A Palm Tungsten C, WII, DS and of course the two hard wired XBOXs. NO Problems. The Tomato configuration only required the modifications for the XBOXs specifically as the rest of the network settings were not change after the firmware update.
What am I interested in? I'd like to upgrade to a Time Capsule for several reasons. One Newer wifi, faster, two frequencies, backup space for growing Mac branch of our network, and as the internet sharing router. AND to be able to access the TC from the internet for file access anywhere! LOVE THAT FEATURE. This requires the TC to be the first device after the cable modem as far as I can tell at this point. (any input on this specific feature would be great).
So I want to configure the TC with the input from the Cable modem as the main distribution of the internet. Then from the other NETWORK ports connect to my 20 port router for the rest of the house, as well as to the other items currently connected at the site of the current LinkSys Router (Mac Mini, Sony TV).
Also I need to maintain the current XBOX set up with (as well as Wii) with full open NAT on both XBOXs.
My question: Anyone here currently using the TC for hardwired connectivity for an XBOX with XBOX live running with open NAT for TWO XBOXs?
The issues with NAT and TWO XBOXs is that you cannot simply use PORT FORWARDing or PORT Triggering to make sure that the traffic goes to the correct xbox. The XBOX uses specific communication ports and the ROUTER needs to keep the traffic flowing properly or you get disconnected or never get open NAT (must have for XBOX live and internet gaming). There are many write ups on using Port Forwarding for one XBOX and setting the second one in the DMZ, but this does not work all the time.
The "Tomato" firmware on the LINKSYS allows fooling the router into giving a 'pseudo static' ip address to the XBOX's by doing MAC address based reservation of an IP number and then letting the DHCP give the xbox an IP address. The MAC address based reservation makes sure that the XBOX always gets the same IP address which for some GD reason must be in order for the traffic to be routed to the correct device. (you can of course use the same MAC address reservation for any device on the network).
Second Question: For those using the TC AND a second WiFi Router to do WIRELESS connection to the XBOX - which device do you have configured as the main INTERNET sharing router? I have read hear what appears to state that the TC is the main router and the other WiFi the secondary. Thus the ROUTING is still being done by the TC and the other wifi device is being used simply as a WiFi Access point/switch. If this is the case would the firmware on the TC allow the proper routing for TWO XBOXs on the network?
    Thank you,
    Mike

The ports are 53, 80, 88, and 3074. Since you are trying to make two Xbox consoles use those ports and you are trying to connect to a server, what you need to do is to use Port Range Triggering. You can't use Port Range Forwarding since it will only set those ports into listening mode to the IP address you set it. So if you use Port Range Forwarding it will only be open/available to one console(the one using the IP address).
You need to use PORT RANGE TRIGGERING. Disable Port Range Forwarding and DMZ. You need to enable UPnP as well if your Linksys router have this option (other model doesn't have this option but it is said to be enabled in default settings according to their tech support).
To solve the lag problem set your MTU size to 1364. This settings will work even if you have one or multiple consoles running behind the router.

  • Time Capsule as Samba Server + Xbox 360?

I'm trying to connect a my xbox 360 or PS3 to my time capsule so I can dump my podcasts onto my time capsule and then stream them to my TV (without buying an AppleTV... or Mac Mini, which is what I really want). I seem to understand I can connect my 360 to a Samba server, and that the TC can be a samba server, but I can't seem to figure out how to set that up.
If anyone knows how to either connect a 360 to a samba server or how to stream media to an xbox 360 (or PS3) from a TC... I would love some help! I've been searching Google relentlessly, but my time on message boards has taught me I'm terrible at searching...

Although the Time Capsule (TC) offers File Server services for SMB/CIFS, it is neither a Samba server nor a full-featured multimedia server. You can certainly store podcasts or other media files on it, but it will not have any means to stream these data to the XBox 360 or any other multimedia player device via the TC natively.

  • Time Capsule: HD readable for Xbox and 'outside'?

    Hi,
I just bought a Time Capsule (TC). Very nice design and my 4th Apple product (that in 6 months!). Anyway, before I got a TC I had a Linksys router. This router had a web interface so I could connect to it from outside home (let's say work). Is this possible with a TC too? Maybe for reading files too from the harddrive (kind of like a server (wouldn't that be very cool?))?
Furthermore, I have a Xbox 360. Is it possible to read TC's harddrive from my Xbox so I can store my Music on there? Or is this only possible with an USB connection only?
Last thing, how is the TC's harddrive formatted? HFS or FAT?
    That's it for now..

    1. Yes, you can enable sharing over WAN and can access the Time Capsule via AirPort Utility over the internet and can access the hard drive using afp://
    2. I believe so, but you have to install some special program to do so. I'd suggest looking on the web for Xbox Media Sharing as I saw some forums related to accessing music, videos, etc. on the Xbox from Time Capsule.

  • Lynksis E1000 wired connection to Xbox 360 (need help)

Here's my problem: I connect my ethernet cable from the router to my computer, and the connection works fine. (ethernet port 1 on router.) I connect it from the router to my Xbox 360, and it acts as if I haven't even connected the ethernet cable.
Could somebody please give me some guidance towards getting my Xbox to be able to run a wired connection from my router?

    Hi Jake,
This might throw you off the internet for the meantime, but how about connecting the xbox to the Internet port on your router.  Let's see if the LED will light up.
As you mentioned before, did you use the same cable to connect your xbox to your router as what you used when you tested your xbox with the modem? If not, have your tried using only one cable for this?
Also, do you have other gaming consoles we can use to test this issue?

  • TIME CAPSULE wired connection=28Mb/s while Wireless Connection=3.10 Mb/s??

As stated above, I have a TIME CAPSULE that is allowing me approx 28 Mb/s wired directly, while only allowing me 3.10Mb/s wirelessly (and the wiress computer MACBOOK PRO) is literally 5 feet from the TIME CAPSULE....
Is this normal? Shouldn't I be getting a better speed wirelessly...? I am using www.speedtest.net.
    Your advice is appreciated...
    Thanx.
    Kevin

Hello kevinperryjr. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Your Time Capsule is capable of providing a bandwidth up to 1000 Mbps wired and 300 Mbps wireless ... but this is for devices on the local network connected to the TC itself. Your Internet connection bandwidth is controlled by your ISP & current Internet traffic conditions.
Speedtest, and a number of other utilities like it, attempt to measure the bandwidth from your computer to a file server at a remote location ... and thus, is a combination of both Internet & local network bandwidth. Typically, a wired connection will provide better bandwidth results.

  • Time Capsule problems with the xbox 360

Im not going to type this all out again so i'll give you guys the link to my unanswered post on mac rumors.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=448296
    Can anyone help?

Excellent. I did contact my ISP and cross-referenced their list with the bestselling cable modems on Amazon.com. Looks like the Motorola SB5120 Surfboard modem works great. It also has an ethernet port and cable so I guess that'll connect easily to Time Capsule since you said I only need an ethernet cable.
I guess I might have to make sure the initial setup goes good, in which case I might be back here to make sure I did that right.
Thanks for the help though. At least I'll know that I'll have the right hardware that works with everything I have.

  • Time Capsule: Wired connection works but cannot connect via wifi to net

    Hi all,
I've had a Time Capsule for a year or so. I've been having problems with connectivity over recent months and I'm not sure where the issue is.
I have plugged in an ethernet cable joining my MBA to the TC, and another from the TC to the wall socket. I can access the internet without any problems.
However, if I unplug the ethernet cable from my MBA (or indeed if I don't plug it in in the first place) then I cannot connect to the internet. I can still back up to Time Machine etc., but nothing can get 'through' the TC.
Also, if I turn Mobile Data off for my iPhone, I cannot then access the internet via WiFi through the TC.
Any ideas as to how to fix this? The TC is in bridging mode, which has worked fine before. All suggestions welcome!

    Ok.. let me try again..
Going back to your first post.
When you plug in via ethernet the MBA works but not by wireless..
Now add that to the new info.
    The campus network relies on each PC's individual MAC address and then assigns IP addresses as required;
Is the MAC address actually registered?? Because the MAC address of the ethernet port of the MBA and the MAC address of the wireless are different.
If the MAC addresses are not registered.. how does the Uni know the difference between a computer and a router??
You are not allow to run a router that feeds DHCP into the uni system.. but they cannot know what you have behind the MAC address of the item plugged in. A computer or a router.
So the TC has to be in bridging mode - which has worked perfectly well previously
Try releasing the MAC address to the PORT.. because the uni might have decided they don't want hubs connected either.. therefore the address of whichever device that is plugged into the wall is registered at the switch and will not allow a change for a fix period.. that is one way to stop people changing stuff around.
Try powering off the TC.. when you use another item.. or change from ethernet to wireless.. then power up the TC again and then power up the device .. eg the wireless on the laptop.. If it fails, it is not the TC that is causing it.. because in bridge the TC is completely dumb. It has no ability to control the MAC address being sent to the main router. None whatsoever.
If your TC recently upgraded to 7.6.4 firmware.. though.. well it can do all kinds of nasties.. flash it back to 7.6.1 and factory reset it.. and hope it works as it did before.. if not the uni changed the system to prevent your TC acting even as a hub.

  • Wireless Airport Connection for XBox 360

There are several prior threads on this, and on the Micros**t board, but none resolve the issue - so here's hoping someone can help the father of a frustrated 15 year old (please, please!!).
Bottom line - my son got an XBox 360 for Christmas. We have an Airport Extreme network (with an Airport Express range booster down stream) for our home network. Cable modem with static IP. The XBox with its wireless networking adapter will recognize my home network (with WEP security) - it's located about 10 fet from the Extreme Base Satation, but the XBox will not connect. (We tried the XBox website's "set up wizard" to no avail; Microsoft simply says that Airports are not supported and they have no clue as to how to establish a connection with a non-PC).
I know an XBox 360 can join an Apple Airport Extreme wireless network because others have posted the result - but without any explicit instructions on how to do so (at least none that I can find).
I'm pretty Mac savvy, but don't want to get into doing terminal commands as I don't want to mess up any aspect of my home network (since I have an office there as well and can't afford to rebuild a network like I did last night for 6 hours when someone at Micro told me to change my Airporst security, which sent a ripple effect throgh my system to the point I lost all internet for hours).
So, if anyone can give me a set of "a, b, c ... 1, 2, 3 ..." set-up instructions on how to wirelessly get an XBox 360 to join an Airport Extreme network, you'll have certaintly done your good deed for the Holidays!
    Thanks and Cheers!

Found the answer - set wireless security to 128 bit WEP and made the network password EXACTLY 13 characters, and the XBox loaded right up.

  • Time Capsule denies connection for other devices

My Time Capsule went mental after more than year of happy use. Suddenly, without any external reason stopped connecting any devices except my iMac.
After Hard reset and loading default settings (which should be equivalent to the Factory reset), setting up new networks/passwords it remains the same. My machine can connect with no problem, speed is fine, Airport Utlility says everything is fine, Time Machine continue to work flawlessly. But any other phone or computer can see both networks, but can't get in. After entering proper password it just says 'Unable to join the network xxx" and that's it.
I'm using WPA/WPA2 security, no MAC address control, enabled NAT and Connection is via shared public IP.
    Any ideas please?

Thanks for the tip! I have restarted modem and TC before, but my iMac was still running so problem persisted. Now I have turned off even my iMac and things start working again. Only my iMac shouted out that 10.0.1.2 IP address is taken by another device (earlier connected iPhone) which it never does before. Anyway, everything works just fine now.
I have came across some similar trouble via Google and some mentioned deleting some (unspecified) files in Library\Preferences\SystemConfiguration to solve problem. I'm not sure the problem won't start again if my iMac will be the first connected device and therefore also deleting/renewing some of these files could be useful. Or can I delete whole SystemConfiguration folder without losing any important settings?

  • Xbox360 keeps droping internet connection to Time Capsule (Wired)

    Hi there,
I seriously need your help with an ongoing issue that's been affecting my time capsule for a few weeks now. First of all, my Xbox360 is connected with a wire to my time capsule and now, it's pretty much impossible to play any games online. In Modern Warfare 2, I get horrible lag and after a game or two, the disconnected from xbox live appears and the only way for me to get back the connection is by unpluging the Time Capsule and restarting the Xbox. This gets me a good connection for 30-45 min and after that, same problem. I don't really know what could be causing this since I also lose connection while playing a single player game that doesn't require any incoming data. Sometimes, I just turn on the console, I see the xbox icon searching for an internet connection and then nothing.
I really need your input on this because everything else connected to my Time Capsule works perfectly (PS3 and Wii wireless and a Powerbook wired). The Powerbook never loses the connection.
I did a lot of search on the web and most problems between the 360 and Time Capsule seems to be wireless related. I did a few suggestions like completly resetting my Time Capsule and downgrading the firmware but nothing seems to be working. I don't understand what could be causing this because I never had any problems with my Xbox and Time capsule for close to 2 years now.
Sorry for the long post, hope you guys can help me! Thanks!

    Anyone?

  • Can time capsule be connected wirelessly and still use ethernet ports for other devices?

can time capsule be connected wirelessly and still use ethernet ports for other devices? we have it connected wirelessly but devices connected to the ethernet ports are not working.

Not as an additional router.. the TC will be plugged into the main router via ethernet (or ethernet equivalent)..
Then the TC is setup in bridge mode. It will simply act as a Switch and HDD.
The wireless can be setup in a number of ways.
From your convenience point of view use it in roaming network mode..
you simply give the TC the same Wireless Name as the existing routers SSID.
Same security setting and password. WPA2 Personal = WPA2 AES which is the best.
But they both use different wireless channels.. normally if you leave the TC on auto it will work fine, but I prefer to control the network.. so set the main router to say 1 and the TC to 11.
You can also use a completely different wireless name etc.. that is up to you. It is still a single flat network and the only thing that is important is only having one router.

  • Qosmio G20 VGA in for connecting to XBox 360

How can i connect a Xbox 360 to the qosmio using a VGA HD cable like this?
    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/
Is it possible to use the fantastic monitor of the Qosmio to play?
    Any help apreciated

Mores is right, there is no VGA input on the Qosmio G20 (I wish there was though), you have to use an S-Video connection from your Xbox. Using the Qosmio player works perfectly well, there's no delay at all, the only problem I had was the video quality was utterly terrible. S-Video out from my 360 to a TV was fine, but input into the laptop looked awful, oh well!
    Cheers,
