Time EXIF change after edit

I'm with PSE 10 on MacBook pro. My probleme is each time I edit a picture in the Element editor (RAW or JPEG) the time picture was originaly taken in EXIF is changed. In the organizer it then appers an (1) hour earlier than the file opened in the editor. It's very frustating since all photos appears in wrong order in organizer. Can someone help ?

I recently switched from iPhoto to Organiser because of the annoyance factor of iPhoto creating vast numbers of thumbnails of 'faces', only to encounter the problem of unwanted Time adjustment! Perhaps I will revert to iPhoto if it doesn't get fixed soon!
I need to keep photos in the same order for viewing as JPEG CDs. Some DVD players sort and display as Slideshows by File number sequence, others by Date/Time sequence. So I try to adjust both types of data to maintain correct order.
Camera and Mac time settings do NOT result in unwanted time adjustment on import or edit.
I now have to manually re-adjust each photo's Date/time setting in Organiser after import and each editing session.
I carried out the following test using PSE 10:
Created JPEG file: in Preview>Tools>Inspector, EXIF time is 12:36 (correct).
Opened Organizer, and imported the photo.
In Organizer, time appears set back to 11:36.
In Preview, EXIF time remains at 12:36
In Organizer, selected photo, then >Fix >Full Edit.
In Organiser, time sets back further to 10:36 and in Preview, file's EXIF time sets back to 11:36.
Importing a photo into Organiser sets photo time back by one hour in Organiser!
Opening a photo file from Organiser, for Edit in the Editor, sets photo time back by one hour in Organiser, and sets back the file's EXIF time by one hour!
UPDATE:
I have now found that Organiser only resets Time in certain batches of photos.
Examing File Info in PSE Editor, Advanced, EXIF Properties, it appears that Organiser sets Time back where Exif Date Time ends with +01:00, but NOT where it ends with Z.
Both batches of files have Meta Data Date ending with +01:00.

Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:
// Get the icon from the b3 button
    var oIcon = getField("b3").buttonGetIcon();
// Get  reference to the b0 button
    var f = getField("b0");
// Set the icon of the b0 button to the icon retrieved from the hidden button
    f.buttonSetIcon(oIcon);
    // Show the b0 button
    f.display = display.visible;
This code would go in the Mouse Up event of the smaller button.

  • Photo Icons Not Changing After Editing  - Help!

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to Lion and just like Snow Leopard the photo icons have white borders around them, which is fine. The problem is that even after editing the photos in both Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5, the icons don't change by removing the white border like they used to in Snow Leopard. If I turn off the show icon preview, the icons don't show the image of course, but still don't change after editing. I liked being able to tell which ones I had already edited and which ones I still needed to edit. Can anyone help me with this? Maybe I have some setting I need to change? I want the icon to change after editing by either showing the picture or showing the picture w/o border like it used to. Thanks!

On your Mac disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • ERROR: RFx Time always Changing after save edit

    Hi Expert,
I'am using SRM 7 and ECC 6, and use extended classic scenario.
When I try to check the time after edit RFx (Submission Deadline,
Opening Date and Technical RFx Response Opening Date), its always change it self and different with our edit before.
I don't know why it washappen.
    Need your response...
    Thanks and Regards,

Check if you have active implementation of BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI which changes the time fields for your RFx (check BBP_PD_BID method).
If there is no time specific logic in your BADI implementation mentioned above, you might need to apply some notes:
Note 1469471 - Submission deadline of RFx gets changed with Timezones (this one is for SRM 701, but I believe it also applies to SRM 7 release. You could create an OSS to SAP for them to extend the validity for this note.)
Note 1559880 - The RFx "End Date" is not displayed in the bidder time zone
Note 1573014 - Submission Deadline timezone of RFX converted to UTC
Note 1548529 - End date gets changed when follow on document is changed

  • IPhoto does not see any changes after editing a photo in Camera Raw

    Hello everyone ,
I have some small problem with my iPhoto. I have set up Camer Raw in iPhoto as  External Editor, so when I click on edit in IPhoto,
automatically opens my JPG in Camera Raw. After editing in Camera Raw I'm clicking on ,,Save image" then destination is ,,Save in same location" When I go back to iPhoto to the same photo, iPhoto does not show any changes I have made in Camera Raw.
What could it be or should I set something in iPhoto or in Camera Raw?
Is there a chance in order to deal with this?
I will be grateful for any assistance and
    I'm waiting for advice
    Dawid

Any time a RAW file is edited in any 3rd party editor from within iPhoto it MUST be saved to the Desktop and imported as a new file. There's no other way to do it.  So the photos you've edited and saved are somewhere in the iPhoto Library folder system but cannot be recognized and used by iPhoto.
The following is geared for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements but might have some info relevant for you:
Using Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 9 as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
s  I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

I lock my photos after editing is complete ...
The beauty of non-destructive editing and snapshots (and, now, publish services) is that, just like negatives of old, your editing never has to be "complete."
When I say "complete", I dont mean "finished forever", I mean "finished for now".
I dont know how I do it, but sometimes I end up with AutoSync turned on by accident - last time it happened I hadnt even used AutoSync recently, it turned on by itself, upon restart after a crash I think. Even if my analysis is wrong and its entirely due to operator error - the result is the same: massive inadvertent edits until I detect the condition.
Also, I make another mistake sometimes (I think its me): when fast typing, I end up normalizing exposure across a whole sh-load of photos... - still havent figured out how I do that since I dont even see a shortcut for that. Sometimes I catch it right away, sometimes not until much later.
Another frequent mistake made by newbies a lot and seasoned users upon occasion: forgetting when edits will target multiple photos vs. just one.
I could go on and on... - I love that I can tweak edit settings on a whim, non-destructively, but I dont love it when changes are made inadvertently. Locking does not keep you from editing, just reminds you that it had previously been considered "finished for now" - you can proceed to edit if you wish, or revert to locked state after viewing a detalied list of changes. "Save Metadata" has now become obsolete for me, replaced by "Snapshot & Lock". I dont know about you, but my workflow is:
    - After import, spend a good while editing, until done for now (at which point I snapshot & lock), then optionally at some point in the future:
    - Revisit for re-editing until done for now... If thats just one change: say Exposure +.1, and it was intended, I confirm intention then move on. If I plan to make a few more changes, I unlock until I'm done with it, then relock).
To each their own, but ChangeManager has become my all-time favorite plugin. - Gives me a very warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that my photos will never be changed inadvertently - only intended changes... - I hope Adobe builds this into Lightroom proper in Lr4, but even if they dont, I'm covered. I never realized how much stress it was trying to be ultra-careful all of the time when using Lightroom, to not make inadvertent changes, until that stress was gone...

  • [SOLVED] Time is changed after every reboot

    Hello,
my Arch has strange behaviour regarding the system time. I use latest up-to-date arch with KDE. No explicite NTPD running and I don't have it in DAEMONS under rc.conf. The KDE own time & date environment is configured to not automatically change time. In /etc/rc.conf I have HARDWARECLOCK="localtime" and TIMEZONE="America/Chicago". Now from the environment to the problem:
Whenever I shutdown or restart my system, the time will be changed after booting into linux again. After shutdown with correct time using "date -s ..", the BIOS clock is correct. Then, when it actually boots into arch, there will be a delay
of 20-40 seconds for "$ date" (approximatelly the time of the reboot process) and also in the BIOS clock!
After shuting down before going to bed and restarting in the morning, the time will be approximately (or more or less exactly) the time when I shutted down... It should not be related to KDE as I observe the same behaviour when I remove kdm from daemons in rc.conf, hence, booting to console, setting time, restarting into console...
As I have dual boot: this problem is not observable using windows...
It seems like the time is stored somewhere during shutdown process and changed accordingly during reboot...?!?
Any ideas or comments? It's really crazy how annoying a wrong computer clock becomes (all IMs and system stuff is based on it...). :-(

Thanks for all the quick responses!
Primoz wrote:maybe you should start using ntp or openntpd?
It provides you with time directly from the net.
Well, I tried to use ntp. As I am using KDE, there should already be a synchronisation service active. I can activate synchronisation in System Settings -> Date & Time and it works right after activation. But further on, e.g. after a restart - and hence such a wrong time as described in my first post - it does not correct anything. So it seems like, there is also a problem with this KDE synchronisation. But to state why I'm not using it anymore: it doesn't make much sense to use it as this is just a work around and does not solve the problem that the hardware clock might become wrong (so, e.g. I end up with a wrong clock in windows or so). In general, I just want to have a correct clock without synchronisation before I activate synchronisation.
    ewaller wrote:
    That seems weird.
When you power up, what happens if, before starting your boot loader, you enter the BIOS set up and check the system time?
Yes, it is. Well, if the hardware clock has been set correctly using e.g. hwclock it will be correct in BIOS before I restart arch. Similar observations for the following case:
    - set HW clock correct in BIOS
    - start arch ... shutdown arch
    - check HW clock in BIOS -> correct
    - start arch ... shutdown arch
    - check HW clcok in BIOS -> incorrect
    ewaller wrote:...
Other thoughts:  date -s does not set the BIOS clock, it sets the Linux kernel time.  On what do you assert that the BIOS clock is correct at shutdown.
Thanks for the hint! In that case, it seems like the KDE Date & Time settings influence both, hwclock and date.
    ewaller wrote:...
Also, once booted into Linux, what does the command hwclock show?  This command reads the actual BIOS hardware clock.
Yeah, I used that alot now. So as described, it is also incorrect after a restart. But only after arch has booted again. To sum it up:
Using whatever tools to set the hardware clock and the system clock (KDE's tool, hwclock + date, or BIOS + date), both are correct until I reboot into arch the next time. If I do that, it resets both to a time similar to the last shutdown time.

This doesn't fix anything, but you can try https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13684#comment52246 - using UTC instead of localtime.
I never checked if my system clock is running perfect at all times or is /etc/cron.hourly/adjtime correcting it once in a while.
Hm, not to sure what they are doing exactly there and how this might help... :-/
What do you mean with the second part of the sentence? Not sure if /etc/chron.hourly/adjtime is doing anything in my case... How can I check if that cronjob is running?
    karol wrote:Have you tried this http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Time#Time_Skew ?
But this is very interesting! I will remove /var/lib/hwclock/adjtime  as described in the wiki and see what happens then. Thanks!

  • CONTACT NAMES NOT DISPLAYING & TIME FORMAT CHANGING AFTER SYNC

i live in kuwait and i was just gifted an officially unlocked 3g iphone from new zealand. i upgraded to 2.1. i have 2 problems
    1. i have synced my contacts from address book. the format that it is stored in is +965XXXXXX. 965 is the country code for kuwait and all numbers in kuwait are of 7 digits. there is no area code as this is a small country. when someone calls me their name does not appear. only the number appears
    2. i have set the time format on the iphone to the 24 hour format but every time i sync with my macbook the time format changes to 12 hour format.

Follow this procedure to get your contacts back (I assume they are on your Mac/PC):
    1. Go to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    2. Select your account which has the contacts you wish to sync
    3. Turn syncing for Contacts to "Off". This will bring up a box telling you your iPhone is turning off Contacts. My iPhone actually hung at this stage, so after several minutes, I performed a hard restart (holding down Home and power buttons for 5 sec.)
    4. Exit from Settings
    5. Go to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    6. Select your account which has the contacts you wish to sync
    7. Turn syncing for Contacts to "On". This should restore your contacts
    8. Go to Contacts to verify. They initially may not appear or just show up as numbers for a second or two, but then your contacts should appear.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 changes DateTime EXIF parameter after editing and saving photo

Hello, I have a little problem with Elements 12. After I edit a photo and save it, Elements changes the DateTime parameter to the time the photo was saved. Is there any way not to change this parameter? Just to save photo with stock EXIF-metadata?

    brian_oconner333 a écrit:
Actually, it doesn't. But I would like to know if changing this parameter would affect other apps (including mobile galleries) recognition of date the photo was taken. I'm afraid that some photos may be incorrectly sorted, especially in mobile apps.
I am in Windows 7. When I use the Windows Explorer to have a look at the properties of picture file, I can use the 'Right click' and choose 'properties'. In the 'details' tab, look at the various dates, and you can see that the 'date taken' is recorded in the Explorer. That means that other software can share that information. What is misleading is that by default, that 'date taken' is not shown by default in the Explorer. Just like keywords tags, you have to add that column to the display. It's not clearer in the Organizer where you are being shown the various dates in the catalog as well as dates read from the picture files...

  • Metadata changed after Edit in Photoshop

Since I use Lighroom 3.2, I've been getting warnings that metadata have been changed externally after I edit a PSD document in Photoshop.
Here's what I do. I select a PSD file and press Ctrl+E (Edit in Photshop CS4), then select 'Edit original'. The image opens in CS4 as normal, I make some changes and press Ctrl+S (save). The changes are then visible in Lightroom. However in Grid View I get a warning sign (exclamation mark) telling me that an error writing metadata was occurred.
Whether I then select 'Import settings from disk' or 'Overwrite settings' does not seem to matter, the image will remain how I edited it in Photoshop. Still it is annoying getting this warning every time and I wonder if I do anything wrong. Anybody else had this, and is there a solution?
This warning sign only appears the first time I edit a file. If I re-edit the same file again later, there is no warning anymore.

Exact same thing happens to me as well, but I use CS5. I always choose the Overwrite Settings option. I have spent time adjusting in LR only to see that exclimation mark and hit the Import from Disk option and all of my adjustments go away, (go to history and undo if you hit that). This whole thing seems to be a bug they need to look into.

  • Date changes after editing

As part of my PSE 8 learning process I try out various editing tools (In Editor) apply undo etc. At the end  when exiting the "edited"  image I select NO to save changes expecting everything about the original image (including metadata) to be untouched. Can anyone advise me:
    (1) Why date created and modified is changed?
    (2) Has the encoded (Jpeg) image data been changed?
I would expect to be able to trial edit without having to create a layer for this purpose.

When you invoke the Editor from the Organizer, Organizer first does the equivalent of File > Write Keyword Tag to get all of the metadata from the Organizer (specifically, keyword tags) written into the file so it is available in the Editor.  This changes the metadata of the image file but not the actual image itself -- that's why you see the Date Modfied and Date Created changed (though in normal circumstances, the date taken doesn't change).
Note that other Organizer commands will change an image's metadata and thus change Date Modified/Created: Edit > Adjust Date And Time, changing star rating, changing the caption, changing the notes.

  • Word file ownership changes after edit/save.

This may be a server issue more than Office, but I've come across some articles relating to this problem in Samba, and thought it might be similar.
I'm the Network Admin for a school district.  We have a file server that is setup with a file and folder structure that allows students and teachers to access and share documents.  One teacher came to me with a problem.  Students are able
to create and save Word documents to an assignment folder.  The teacher then goes into the document, makes changes and enters notes, then saves the document back to the folder, overwriting the original.  The problem is that once she has done so,
the student can no longer access the document.
After investigation and testing, I've found that ownership of the file is changing from the student to the teacher.  This is a problem based on the way that the ACL is set on the folder.  The students' access is based in the creator/owner attribute.
The fact that the ownership is changing once the teacher opens and edits the document is causing the student to no longer have access to the file.
My question is, is there a setting or other change that can be made to Office so that ownership is not transferred to the teacher?  Giving each user explicit rights to each file and/or folder isn't really an option when I have 3000 students to
deal with.  Again, this may be a server side issue, but I've not seen this problem with other programs.

I'm picking this up because I have the exact same problem.
Students are given Write access to a folder (So they can save their work)
Teachers are given Modify acccess to a folder (so they can add comments, etc)
CREATOR/OWNER is given Read/Execute so students could read teacher comments, but not make changes to the document once it has been saved.
When I test it with my admin account, it works great.  I can update the document and the student can open it to see my comments, but not change the document anymore without saving to a different location.
When I test it with a teacher account, the document changes ownership as soon as the teacher saves.  Once the ownership changes, the student no longer has permissions through CREATOR/OWNER and they can't open the document to see the comments anymore.
I can't see why this works when my account makes the changes, but not when a teacher account does.  We are doing the exact same things in Word.
Here is an example of the permsions as they exist on a sample document.  In the example, my admin account (which works fine) gets it's permissions through BUILTIN\Administrators:
    PS H:\> $acl = get-acl "L:\TeacherShare\S2 3(A) Study Hall - Half Year\Submissions\StudentWork.docx
