Time sync gets 6 minutes wrong

Hi!
SInce a few days back, the clock on my iPhone shows 6 minutes too late. If I disable the automatic sync, I can set the time correctly, but if I re-enable the sync, it moves back 6 minutes again.
I contacted my operator, and they said that the clock that is synced againt is at Apple, but they had not heard of any other customers with this problem, so it is probably something wrong on my side. The suggested I shoul reset the iPhone to factory settings, but I would like to avoid that, especially since nothing guarantees that would help.
Anyone having ideas on what could cause this, and possible fixes? Or have similar problems?
Best regards,
Zot
BTW, my IPhone uses iOS 4.3.3, but that choice was not available in the drop-down.

Your clock is picking up the time from the cell towers, NOT Apple. The problem is your carrier.

  • Time Sync - DHCP Failover - 1 minute difference - How to avoid problems?

I have 2 WIn2012R2 servers with DHCP installed, domain members and clocks synched via AD normal operation
I´ve configured the first DHCP Server and i´m worried about a possible problem, because the DHCP Servers have to be, almost-perfect time sync to operate properly
Can I configure a scheduled task to regularly force the time sync ?
If yes, using "net time" or "w32tm"?
"...If the time difference between the servers is greater than one minute, the failover setup process will halt with a critical error
instructing the administrator to synchronize the time on the servers...."
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831385.aspx

Well the built-in sync mechanism should be enough. Most of the time, as long as the machines have the same time source (DCs in your case) they shouldn't drift more than one minute apart.
You can use w32tm /monitor /computers:<dhcp1>,<dhcp2> to verify the current time synchronisation remotely. Or even w32tm /stripchart if you want to see something more graphic with the current offset on the servers.
Ultimately, w32tm /resync is the way to force sync.
    Why not
enabling the log on the w32tm service for couple of days/weeks and check if you see anything wrong?
Are they virtual machines? If no, nothing to add :)

  • Is it possible to get 15 minute appointment times on the calender without them all bunching up and being unable to follow?

Is it possible to get 15 minute appointment times on the calender without them all bunching up and being unable to follow?
I am wanting to replace all my PC's with Macs, ipads and iphones for my business.
I love the whole system but as a small Physio business, I need to be able to add 15min & 20min appointments to the callendar and share with my colleagues.
The problem I have is that they just bunch up and overlap and it becomes impossible to follow. There is no way of telling if you have any appointment spaces as it no longer shows the gaps. Also, are you able to set a default time for the appointments as it currently defaults to 1 hour (small pain in the arse but thought i'd ask while i'm here)
If there is a way to do this or if there is any other apps out there, I'm sure it would become a very useful business tool and many more small businesses would invest in Apple systems, I've talked it through with friends with other businesses and they agree.
Anybody have any solutions, or do Apple fancy making some simple upgrades to the software?
    Thanks
    Mark

Yep, that's basically what I'm trying to to detect JJ; which layers overlap the blue area would be the ideal result.  Which objects overlap the blue layer's bounds is an ok method, but not 100% accurate (as demonstrated by your example).  The bounds method does narrow down what layers I need to check it against, but it still returns 2 layers I need to then take extra time to check against for the actual overlap, which wouldn't be necessary if we can get the check more detailed.
Since a more detailed way of getting the overlaps is still being looked into, I'm thinking of using EnsilZah's and/or c.pfaffenbichler's suggestions in tandem with some code they helped me with previously (here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/6256651#6256651 ) to get the actual overlaps by process of elimination on a narrowed return result using current suggestions; at least until a better/more efficient solution comes along.  I am still open to other ideas, on this topic, though.

I have a new Ipad air. I have synced it to my PC before. This time I get an error message saying iTunes could not connect to the iPad because the device time out - what do I do?

Quit iTunes, restart your computer, reset the iPad and try again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Photos are sorted by date modified when you sync from iTunes. If you have them arranged out of date sequence, they will not sync that way onto the iPad. You can read more here.

  • New 5th Gen iPod, 1st time sync 15 hours & still going?  What's wrong?

My library is 53GB, is this why it is taking so long? When I had 4th Gen 60GB Photo is took about 3.5 hours 1st time sync. What is going wrong? Please help!
    Happy Holidays,
    Sebastian

My 8GB of info took my computer 3.5 hours with a USB 1.1 connection (I don't have USB 2.0 on my tower). Are you using an older computer this time? A different USB port than before? When I added songs to my iPod from my laptop, which does have USB 2.0, it went lightning fast... compared to my tower.
It sounds like you've got a USB 1.1 connection, so, doing the math, it should take about 24 hours to transfer 53GB of info... according to my calculations.

  • Every sync gets "You are about to synchronize your calendar for the first time" - Help !!!

I am on a MBP with the Tour and was able to successfully sync iCal and Address Book with BB. But everytime I try to sync, I get the " You are about to synchronize our Calendar data for the first time." with the options to "Replace Device Data", "Merge Data" or Cancel. Has anyone seen this and know how to fix? Replacing data makes it impossible to update Mac with changes on BB.
    Please help!

Create a backup of your iCal and your BlackBerry.
Then create a test Calendar event on the BlackBerry, in iCal then test another synchronization once again.
The first time sync prompt usually occurs when it does not detect entries in either the BlackBerry or iCal Calendar.

The tracks labeled "karaoke" in the iTunes Store are only instrumental backing tracks;  they are not actual karaoke tracks.  They do not have lyrics, and cannot be burned to the usual CD+G format that a karaoke machine will accept.
If you want actual karaoke tracks,  go to a specialty online download store such as KaraokeDownloads.com.

When I call my contacts I get connected to wrong numbers.  Other times the phone rings & connects but silent on my end & the other party sees that I called but not connected.

There are no settings in iPhones that determine how RECEIVING phones respond  In fact, it isn't possible for a sending phone to control how another phone responds when busy.  This is conrolled by the carrier and the receiving phone only.

  • Date and Time Sync at boot for Active Directory/Open Directory Authenticati

All the macs in my school district are set to automatically sync their time with a network time server. They do not do this unless the system preference is opened. This poses a problem as all our users must authenticate against an Active Directory and an Open Directory server. If the time is out of sync they can not login, and therefore can not fix the time. I must then login in with a local admin account set the time and then the network account can login. I have tried using direct IP addresses for the NTP server. That doesn't work either. I have adjusted the tolerance of the AD server to accept a large discrepancy in time (did not work). Set the users to be mobile accounst (local home folders), did not work. The only fix will be to ensure that the time does sync at boot, before login. Is there a way to force the computer to sync at boot to a given NTP server, prior to the login window appearing?

I have come up with my own solution for this issue. It is a two part solution. We found that the computers are experiencing time drift and that after they get out of sync by 5 minutes they can no longer login. One would think that the setting in the Date and Time system preference to automatically synchronize the time would take care of this. That however is not the case that check mark does not affect the ntp service at all. It merely eliminates the need to click a button when entering the system preference. How did we discover this? well that is part of the solution. We used webmin (http://www.webmin.com) to look at the ntp configuration. No matter what changes we made with the Date & Time preferences nothing changed in the system ntp settings. So on to the solution: Install webmin, and configure the ntp protocol manually to sync at your desired interval (I did hourly). This stops time drift. Next create a startup item and associated plist to force time sync at boot (be sure to loop it as different machines initialize their network cards slower). I have made ours available for download (http://www.manheimcentral.org/~getzt/netTime.zip). I hope this helps others. We have found that this works fairly well.

  • GI time sync question

Oracle 11g grid infrastructure install guides clearly say that if I use a time sync service other than CTSS (like Windows time service or NTP), then I must prevent backward time adjustment on all nodes of the cluster. This is done by registry key on Windows or adding -x option to NTP on Linux.
Doing so results in a problem. The time on many nodes of the cluster is running ahead of the standard time source and cannot be synchronized backwards. The net result is that the time on all nodes is out of sync by 30-40 seconds. In few more months, the time will be ahead by several minutes on several ndoes. Our server admins are getting errors in server logs because the time cannot be synchronized. I cannot find any recommendation or best practice document from Oracle on how to correct this situation unless the time on some nodes is adjusted backwards. Any ideas?
    Thanks...
    Arun

If I bring time forward on all servers, very soon, the servers will be way ahead of the actual time. Also, if I have to manually keep the time in sync, then why use time synchronization in first place??
We do use an external server but I am not sure which one. We want to keep the server time in sync with a standard time source. The requirement that time cannot adjusted backwards makes it impossible to do so.
    Thanks...
    Arun

  • CRIO 9076 Time Sync

If this is true NTP synchronization does a large correction of the date-time on boot. After boot, it adjusts the processor clock to account for drift.  The algorithm has an error tolerance but if you exceed that tolerance (i.e. if you are too far out of synch) it will stop trying to adjust the processor clock to synchronize. Calling the Set Date & Time VI typically causes the clock to move beyond the algorithm error tolerance. Is there an error tolerance on the large correction also? I am not able to get my system to sync on boot so if the controller resets, I lose my time. Is there a VI to query the sntp server during initialization and set the time there?

  • Time Machine backing up to wrong drive

I woke up this morning to find that my available internal hard disk space had been cut in half. I downloaded a hard disk profiling tool (Disk Inventory X) and found that in /Volumes/Data/ there is now a directory called Backups.backupdb that contains a complete copy of everything on my hard disk, created last night at 2AM.
I opened the Time Machine Preferences panel and looked, and everything appears normal. It's still set to back up to my Time Capsule, just like it was last night. There's no indication that I can find of why it made a complete backup of my internal drive to my internal drive at 2AM.
Has anyone else had an experience like this?
    How can I...
    - safely delete the newly created backup?
    - verify that the existing backup on the Time Capsule is still being updated?
    - make sure that it doesn't backup to the internal drive again?
    Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
    Yes, a few folks have.
    How can I...
    - safely delete the newly created backup?
    Turn Time Machine off.
From a Finder window, select +Go > Go to Folder+ from the menubar, then type /Volumes in the prompt.
Delete the Data folder. That will probably take a very long time. Then Restart your Mac.
    - verify that the existing backup on the Time Capsule is still being updated?
Do a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
Then run a backup and make sure that Data folder doesn't get created again.
    - make sure that it doesn't backup to the internal drive again?
Good question. This isn't common, and seems to be caused by your Mac losing contact with the TC's drive at just the wrong time and in just the wrong way. I don't recall seeing an exact cause, or a way to precent it. See: http://db.tidbits.com/article/9620
