Timeline in TM corrupted

When I view my TM-drive through the Finder, al folders are correctly dated. But when I use the Star Wars-mode, the timeline is corrupted. The months are correct, but when I zoom in, every date starts with 'january'. That's confusing and of course not good, and it makes me suspicious. Restoring files still seems to work fine, but when I tried to simply copy complete folders, the Mac only copied the first file in every folder. I took drastic measures: I erased my TM-disk, verrified the disk (it was ok), reinstalled SL and started a new TM-back up. The problem remains. I have now three back ups, made in November, and in the timeline they are called 'january 11', 'january 13' and 'january 13'.

Sorry, maybe I don't understand. The problem is the same but I don't use iClock OR something so that can't be the solution.
As I said, whether that was involved is not clear.
But the original poster said when she "redid" everything in Date & Time preferences, it seemed to fix the display. I suspect it may have involved "custom" settings in the Format section, but the original poster wasn't specific.
So here's the deal:
Check the actual folders as I suggested in the earlier thread. If the dates on the backup folders are correct, then your backups are ok, and the problem is just the display.
Try re-specifying your Date & Time preferences. That may fix the display problem.

  • Why is DVD SP4 creating a corrupt video in the timeline when the corruption does not appear in the imported Quicktime ProRes 422 self contained movie?

I am having a strange issue that just occurred when trying to create a DVD using DVD Studio Pro 4. The workflow is as follows: Import a self contained Quicktime ProRes 422 as an asset into DVDSP 4. Drag the assets onto Track 1 in the Graphical viewer as a First Play item. The video is only corrupted in a section of the timeline, yet when you look at that section in Quicktime the video appears to be ok. Does anyone have an idea why this is happenning?

Thanks for the quick reply Gary. I was wondering why this corruption happenned recently, when I have used this workflow previously without any artifacts for several years. Do you think that something has gotten corrupted in DVDSP?
Do you also recommend using Compressor always to created the files for DVDSP vs. having DVDSP do the encoding?
    Thanks

  • Rendering a certain section of timeline is always corrupt (after render)

    hey gang,
maybe you can help me with this head scratcher -
I have a vignette along a whole track in a sequence.  It's a psd.  It's working fantastic... other than in one spot in a particular sequence (i'm using it many sequences).  Whenever I render this section it's almost like it's doubling up the vignette for a very specific portion of the timeline.  I've replaced it with a png to see if it was some kind of issue with poor interpretation, but with no luck.  I tried doing it in After Effect and the same problem shows up.  I've tried deleting my rendered cache, re-rendering 100 times, still with no luck.  I'm at a loss with what to do now.
Has anyone run into this issue in the past?
    thanks.

No, 40 meg is not that large. It's likely a file system issue or network timeout or something of that type.

  • Opening the Application with a corrupt clip in the timeline

As you know, when you quit FCP with the project open, it reopens the next time at the place you left it. Unfortunately, I have a corrupt clip in my project, and when the FCP reopens, it reads the corrupt clip and closes down immediately. Is there any way to defeat this, as there are several timelines (and the corrupt one) that I need access to but can't access because of this problem?

Actually, No. This is a preference option and you can set fcp not to reopen the last project. Try deleting the preferences and it will not reopen the last project.

  • Getting a Rendering Error "No Video in File" and now corrupted video file

I've been working with some video footage in Final Cut that I recorded directly to my hdd using adobe Onlocation. I used the chroma key filter on it and then added an animation clip from After Effects, in the form of a .mov file to my timeline. When trying to render my timeline I get the "no video in file error."
I used the render manager and trashed all the render files, then I manually searched my hdd and trashed any other render files I could find. Still getting the same error message. Gave up and decided to start from scratch except that now my original video file that I recorded with Onlocation is corrupted and I can't preview it in Quicktime nor play it in Onlocation. It also imports into final cut as a white screen.
This is the only copy of the file I have (I know, stupid me right?) so any help or suggestions would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks so much for your suggestions, the File Salvage option from digital rebellion worked!! Good as new!! made a backup and going to attempt to complete my project, but any ideas on why adding the AE clip to the timeline caused the corruption of the video file in the first place?

  • I had to re-install Premiere Pro CS5 and now video are files acting funny...

Hello. I had to reformat my system drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and then I did an anytime upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I then re-installed Premiere Pro CS5. Here's the problem. When I open any of my projects that I worked on BEFORE I re-installed Premiere (when I was using Windows 7 Home Premium), the video files on the timeline all look corrupted when I play the timeline now. They have these weird block artifacts and also a constant pulsing thing going on. I deleted all the media cache files and all the media cache database files but, nothing changed even though Premiere conformed every single video file in the project again. Then, I went to "Sequence" and hit "Render Entire Work Area" and after Premiere was finished rendering, I noticed the artifacts and pulsing are completely gone BUT, the video files look like a VHS tape that has been recorded over a few times. The edges of people and things in focus aren't nice and sharp like they were before I re-installed Premiere. I DO NOT have the time or patience to have to delete all the video files and import them again into the project and re-edit the entire scene! Can someone please help me resolve this problem?! I am about done with Premiere!
Is there a way to delete the video source files that are on the left side of the timeline (next to the "Source" window, where they got imported into the project) without deleting the edited video files on the timeline and then re-import the same source video files into the project, kind of like "refreshing" the video files? If this is possible, it seems like this would fix the problem without me having to re-edit everything again.
*Update*  My idea of just re-importing the source video clip won't work either. I deleted one of the source video clips, which deleted its reference clip on the timeline, and I re-imported the video source clip to see if it would play all weird in Premiere and sure enough, it has the same exact block artifacts and pulsing effect like all the other source clips in the project. It seems that if that's the case, it might be a codec problem. But, that doesn't make sense because if I open the clip on my hard drive with Windows Media Player or Allplayer, the clips plays perfectly fine and looks like it is supposed to. So, it must be a codec problem in Premiere??? Could it be that Premiere Pro CS5 doesn't work well with Windows 7 Professional? I find that hard to believe. Can someone please help me?
By the way, all the video clips in the project are from my Panasonic GH1 or my Panasonic GH2. They are all 1080p/24 AVCHD. I even made a new sequence within the same project making sure the sequence settings are AVCHD 1080p 24 and still nothing is fixed.

Have you tried exporting a 10 second section of the footage to see if the issue shows up once the seqeunce is actually exported from the timeline. I edit on CS5 with windows 7 pro at work quite often and have no issues so I assure you that isn't the issue. I also edit with AVCHD footage when at home and work quite freqeuntly as well so I'm positive that isn't the issue. It sounds like a GPU driver has been corrupted in the way it interacts with premiere pro. What type of GPU do you have? If it supports MPE's GPU acceleration have you tried turning it off and seeing if that makes any difference?
Anyways though try to export a 10 second test section of your timeline to see if when the clip is exported from premiere it will play normally in windows media player or vlc or w/e media player you want to use. If it exports fine then you can almost be positive it's a corrupted video card driver. If that's the case I'd re-install your GPU's driver and also check your gpu makers website to see if they have a updated driver avaiable.

  • Error compiling movie

During publish + share operation I receive the following "Export Error" Error compiling movie. Unknown error.
The timeline plays through without any troubles and I rendered the footage before attempting to export.  I read a vague tip that some of the clips may cause the error but how can you diagnose without individually removing every clip?
I am using trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements 13.1 (20150131.daily.767917) with Intel Core i5 2.4 GHz/ 8 GB RAM)/ 297 GB free hard disk space
    Your cooperation is appreciated.

This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. But you would be going through the same drill I suspect either way if it offered you support.
Things will not get better going from tryout to purchased product....if there a flaw in the construction of your Timeline or a corrupt file, that will happen with tryout or purchased version. It is good that you are looking at the tryout before purchase.
    You write
I am currently trouble-shooting clips and it appears that one of them is the cause...which one...hours later I am still deducing.
......this is a pretty clumsy way to trouble-shoot an issue (IMO).
Have you expedited matters in the strategy that you have used for the selective elimination troubleshooting
    a. section by section...sort good from bad sections...you do not have to and should not start by eliminating clip by clip by clip
    b. bad section breakdown
    c. moving forward as indicated
Issue get troubleshooted as indicated by the user input. It would be good information to have with regard to the export involved
when the compiling error was triggered. Have you gone through a through d in my post 1 to rule each of those factors in or out?
What is the duration of the problem project? If it is a short project, have you considered starting a new project (redoing the old) and
determining if the compiling error hits again?
We will be watching for further developments.

  • How do I export when FCP keeps crashing for large QuickTime exports?

    Forum,
I have a 108-minute finished Final Cut Pro project. Ultimately, I'd like to burn it on a DVD so that it can be watched by any Joe-Schmoe using an ordinary DVD player. I'll be using DVD Studio Pro to do the burning. And before this, I plan to compress using Apple Compressor.
    But...
I can't export this file to QuickTime! FCP keeps CRASHING about halfway through the process. I'm preserving the Current Settings, which, by the way, are XDCAM EX 1080p24 VBR.
I have four internal hard drives used as follows:
    D1 OSX and FCP
    D2 audio media
    D3 visual media
D4 location of FCP files and scratch disk
I also have a MyBook USB2.0 external drive available should this be of use.
Any suggestions for a viable workflow here? Should I be exporting to QuickTime first? Is my configuration doomed? Should I export straight to Compressor?
    thanks,
    Shanked

Is there a way to do this WITHOUT your suggested software?
Sure, but its very manual and the Corrupt Clip Finder really just automates that for you ... but I get your point about keeping things clean and can't fault that philosophy.
First, you can use the Tools > Render Manager to delete all the sequence's render files and references. Then just play through the entire sequence (in the sequence RT menu you can enable the option to Play Base Layer Only). If the corruption was in one of the render files then you should now be able to play through without issue. If the corruption is in one of the clips then you should discover that FCP will crash or throw up an error when it tries to play though that clip ... keep a note of where this error occurs as thats your corrupt clip. Similarly, after trashing renders you can re-render, keep an eye on the render progress ... the error will be thrown proportionate to the area of the timeline where the corrupt source clip is contained. Additionally, yes, you can use the Reconnect Media function to selectively reconnect your source media to your masterclips, clip by clip ... the one that won't reconnect is going to be the problem child. That's the one you need to recapture/reimport from source.
    Hope it helps

  • Flash Pro CS6 (mac) bug -- breaks library item

    Hi,
After migrating to CS6 faced a big show stopper.
In big FLA (was not able to reproduce), clicking on item in library changes it name to full path to it.
    (e.g.  folder/mc  -->  folder/folder/mc)
Saving the document produce same on file system.
It looks like timeline.name got corrupted.
The worst case is that jsfl still see old item name while traversing through lib. But can't do any operation on lib using its name.
    Image bellow demonstrate the results:
Looking forward to receive any hint of fixing it.
    Thanks,
    Igor

    Hi,
We are aware of this issue and its open for investigation internally. This issue is observed when you have certain special characters in your symbol names and try to open that file in Flash CS6. This happens due to a change in the way symbol naming is handled in Flash CC and in Flash CS 6.
As a workaround, request you to use only Underscore or Hyphen as special characters while naming symbols or library layers etc.
We shall update you as soon as this has been fixed.
    Thanks,

  • MAJOR BUG - CS5 Library Renaming Issues

I posted about this before but it hasen't been resolved and I'm running into it again.
I also found another side affect of this bug.
In a large library where none of the items are on the stage, if you rename a movie
clip or folder the items rename, but a duplicate is created with the old name.
Below, I renamed the Movie Clip by adding  _test to the end.
The duplicate or the new name may be an empty MovieClip that you can not access
This also corrupts the timeline of the Movie Clip by creating duplicates of the existing layers.
Q suggested dragging the items to the stage before renaming as a workaround.
This seems to keep them from duplicating but I found that the Timeline still becomes corrupted.

    Hi Gabriel,
I've seen this before. It happens when the symbol name has non-supported character or an ETX character. We have fixed this issue in CS5.5. I can take a look at your file. Please zip it, change .zip to .zzz, and email it to my attention at [email protected]
Also let me know which symbol is causing you issue so I can target those first. In the meantime, try saving your file as Flash CS4, does it still duplicate after you rename the symbol?
    Thanks,

  • Urgent , not display the time using Timestamp

Hello I need to know if the configuration of sunone 7 I can prevent that it sees the hours in a consultation Oracle.
I am making a Select on a field type DATES, that you have date and hour.
Use the TimesTamp class from java. It is not the Oracle nor the version of JDK.
    It is urgent!

That is odd and I could only guess at the cause.
If the file came from a digital camera the "code" for the timeline may be corrupt. This could happen if the capture was started and then stopped then resumed.
I would also expect playback of the file to stop when QT Player reaches what "it thinks" is the end of the file. Hitting the play button may continue playback or it could return to the "beginning" of the file.
You may be able to see the timeline by opening the "Movie Info" window. Leave it open as you play the file. Does the time appear in the Movie Info window?

  • Encore not playing seemless

    Hello!
    I got a little problem.
    I have a film with 6 chapterpoints.
1 main menu with play movie button
1 chapter menu with 6 buttons for the chapters.
the six buttons are linked to a chapter.
ex. If I press button 4, it plays ch 4 and goes back to chaptertmenu when ch 5 starts.
I´ve put an end action command on ch 4 to end at ch 5, and a override command on button 4 to link to button 4.
My problem is when I want to play the whole movie. When it plays, its a short stop on my chapterpoints. I doesnt play seemless.
It´s like it´s reading the chaptercommands and then continuing.
IRL the dvd production is 8.5 Gb big, so a can´t have a a copy of any clip.
It only one long film, no separate clips.
    Does anyone understand? :-)
How to play the film seemless and still have the possibillity to se just one chapter.
    Best regards
    //Robin

The projekt grewing bigger and bigger asa we write. The customer wants each chapter to stand alone...if you understand me.. i got at most 10 chplaylist on one timeline.
Its a comedy show 2 and a half hour... I have about 45 mb free :-)
I usally do the programming like a movie dvd= play chapter three or whatever and then it continues to the end but sometimes the customer what do do it the hard way :-(
I did the old trick. delete each playlist and find where the problem is...finaly i reprogramed 8 chplaylit for 1 timeline, maybe a corrupt file or something. And "Eureka" it works. At least to create an DVD folder.
Thanks for your time and good advise!
    I probaly be back lol

    <element name="FieldTwo" type="string" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="|" nxsd:quotedBy="<"/>
