Timer ipad forgets position after stopping playback

I have an ipad 2 with ios 8.1.2 .
Since the update to ios 8 I have a problem with the timer function.
In iOS7 I put on an mp3 audiobook from my music. I set the timer to stop playing after 50 minutes. After 50 minutes the iPad stops playing and remembers where it has stopped.  when i do the same thing the 2nd day it starts where is has stopped the day before.
Now I do the same in ios8 and the 2nd day my iPad did not "remember" where he has stopped the timer the day before.
I hope someone can help me

Hi Milwaukee,
Your question is about DirectShow development, DirectShow forum is better, I'll move it there.
By the way, this article may give you some help:
DirectShow MediaPlayer in C#
I would recommend that you use the built-in Windows Media Player control in your C# project, if you want to this, you can post questions in Visual C# forum.

  • Stuck notes after stopping playback

    Hello,
I'm having a problem whereby after stopping playback, the currently playing notes are stuck (sustain indefinitely). I find notes always stick, whether hitting the space bar or clicking the stop icon.
    - I'm using Logic 9.0.2 with default settings on Snow Leopard 10.6.1.
    - My audio interface is an Edirol FA-101.
    - My controller is a Yamaha Motif via the Yamaha USB MIDI driver 1.2.
I thought perhaps it was the MIDI driver (not officially supported on Snow Leopard), so I uninstalled it and switched to my Edirol UM-880, with new 1.0 Snow Leopard driver.
Now I get the same problem with the space bar, but the stop icon works most of the time, but not always!
    What is going on?!

    Hi Andrew
In Logic try going to "Preferences": "Midi": "Reset Messages": and tick the first box "Control 123 (All Notes Off)". That should stop the notes hanging every time you hit stop. I have the same problem with a Motif XS Rack. I find that also ticking the bottom option "Send Used Instrument Settings on Reset" helps keep Logic playing the correct sound on the Motif (assuming you are using Midi Patch/Bank messages to select individual sounds. Hope this helps.

  • Why does Time Machine forget "everything" after Mountain Lion update?

After updating to Mountain Lion (from Snow Leopard), I fired up my trusty external hard drive which contains my Time Machine backups (and nothing else) - of course I had run a backup right before upgrading to be sure. Two things are deeply disturbing: 1) The drive keeps on "rattling" as if a process is constantly reading or writing to it - even with Time Machine "OFF". Why? I (tried to) explicitly disable(d) Spotlight searching that drive, and nothing else should be accessing it! (I wish there was a way to simply turn Spotlight OFF for a while - I suspect it of a lot of crashes I experience).
Anyway, even more disturbing: Opening the System Preference Panel and sliding Time Machine to "On", it claims there is NO backup at all! Oldest backup: "NONE". Latest backup: "NONE". This is B.S.!  BTW, opening the "Time Machine" app proper shows all the recent backups, so they are still there. So why doesn't the Time Machine Preference Panel not recognize them?  Under these circumstances, is it safe to enable backups??? I am very afraid that if I let Time Machine proceed, it will try to create a full new backup, perhaps overriding all the snapshots from the past that are still stored on that disk. For one, even at 1 TB, my disk is not big enough to take another full backup on top of what's already stored on there. Any advice (other than "buy another hard disk just to be safe")?
O.k., I admit, so far I'm more upset with Mountain Lion than impressed.

    Dear Pondini,
I am grateful for your advice and encouraging words, but I am (and remain) at my wit's ends as far as Time Machine is concerned. While I'm sure 99.99% of Mac users have no problem, there must be SOMETHING idiosyncratic about my own setup that has consistently crashed TM in the past, and now (after upgrading to Mountain Lion), it simply refuses to work EVER. Mind you, I'm NOT a "hacker" who installs non-standard software or likes to poke around in the Kernel.
Below is a shortened version of the Console output during my latest attempt - after 3 tries (after running disk utility to repair my permissions and check the hard drive), it never makes it beyond about 4 Gb before crashing. (And, what's worse, if I don't immediately react, TM very often crashes the whole computer to the point where NOTHING works anymore - requiring a restart. Even with Mountain Lion).
Thanks for any offer of help from anyone... SK

  • Preview: Play after Stop Restarts Disc

I'm working my way through building my first DVD. At this point everything seems to be working fine, but I've encountered one oddity that I'm not sure is a feature, a bug, or the result of a mistake I made in configuring something.
When I preview the DVD in Encore, select a chapter to play, stop playback and then hit the play button in the preview control panel again, the disc starts replaying from the beginning. In other words, hitting the play button after stopping playback acts like I've just inserted the disc into a DVD player.
What I'd like to have happen is for the play -> stop -> play sequence to continue the playback from the point where the video playback was stopped.
This appears to be the way commercial DVDs work (well, at least the one I checked ). Although the commercial discs apparently distinguish between:
    stop -> play
    and
    stop -> stop -> play
One stop followed by a play resumes playback from where it was stopped. Two stops followed by a play restarts movie playback (not disc playback).
So how do I get Encore to provide the experience I'm looking for? Or is this just a limitation of Encore's preview panel?
    - Mark

For "continued playback" in Preview, look at Preview from Here. What you are seeing is the way that the Preview Monitor works.
When you let Preview continue, through the entire process, is your navigation like you want? You can also use the End Action icon to "speed" through the Preview - watch a bit, and if OK, hit it, to go to the End Action, where you can test the next element of the navigation. Another useful icon is the Menu, allowing you to test in Preview, various navigational elements.
As Stanley says, Preview is a rudimentary emulation, and does not offer 100% accurate testing. A DVD RW, or a burned Folder on the HDD, are the best way to fully test all aspects. Each has pluses and minuses, in what will be tested, but I won't get into the boring details.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Why does my playhead return to the initial position when pausing/stopping playback after playing from beginning?

How do I prevent the playhead from returning to it's original position after pausing or stopping with the spacebar or k button?  With either the skimmer on or off, whenever I pause or stop the **** playhead will always return to the position it was last at.  I don't understand why neither of the shortcuts would just stop the playhead at the point that is being played at.  This may seem like an extremely edgy way to go about editing, but I might actually wish to pause the playhead at any given moment and position my playhead nearby said moment before creating an edit point (without having to add a marker and return to it with the blade tool, or take note of the specific duration and use the duration control to go to that specific point or any other unnecessary steps when doing a rough cut).  I simply would like the playhead to pause/stop at the moment I press either keyboard shortcut.  After the many attempts at trying to make FCP X work for me and the many "workarounds" by FCPX enthusiasts, it's disheartening to know that most other editors in my circle who make a living doing paid commercial work are wondering why I've decided to take a break from using CS6 (and it's integration with the industry-standard AE) to give FCP X a shot, all to make very simple tasks like the one aforementioned a mystery...  any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response Luis and for your previous help (regarding multiple selections being added to the timeline in reverse order when working in list view in the event browser).
Yes i've trashed my preferences, but I should be more specific as to what I am actually doing.  Because I am working from my macbook pro and do not have a "home button" which was the original shortcut to "play from/go to beginning" and because I did not like the replacement shortcut in FCP X to play from beginning (without a home button it was something like Function + Shift something else on a laptop) I became used to Adobe Premiere CS6 and made the return key my "play from beginning" shortcut.  It was available and did not have a use by itself (only to confirm changes/choices), did not effect it's use in conjunction with other shorctus so I choose enter as my "play from/go to beginning"...
So when I play from the beginning and attempt to pause or stop the playhead, regardless of how I choose to do it (spacebar or k) it does not stop at that specific instance and always returns to where it previously was.  This seems very confusing and inconvenient, I would hope at least one of these shortcuts would actually stop the playhead where it was at that moment where I press stop or pause.  It's extremely frustrating knowing that I cannot pause the playhead where it's playing if I choose my "play from beginning" shortcut.
Also since you seem to be a guru and an expert, i'd like to know if you cut with FCPX on a laptop and what shortcut you use whenever you'd like the playhead to go to the beginning of the timeline, end, etc since there are no "home" or "end" buttons on a laptop....
    Thanks a million, talk soon...

Since upgrading to iOS 8 , my Apple TV second gen stops playback every time my iPhone rings.  Anyone else have this happen?

This is happening to me too. Couldn't figure out what was happening at first then I got a phone call and the ring came through the appletv. Playback was stopping when I would open a game or something else as well.
I'm on a 5s with ios 8 and have an appletv 3rd Gen(it is updated too). II often airplay movies from my NAS through my iPad min and that stops when something  happens on my phone even though airplay on my phone is off.

  • Stop Playback After Current Track

I hate to stop the music in the middle of a track, so i would love some way to make Spotify stop playback after the current track.
Right now I can simulate the desired behaviour by right-clicking an empty playlist, (that i have created for this purpose only) and selecting "Choose as Current Playlist" and making sure that the play queue is empty. While this is a nice workaround, I think that it would make sense to include a real "Stop Playback After Current Track"-function in Spotify.
    Update (2015-02-01):
The previously suggested workaround doesn't even work any more as Rapti has pointed out in a comment. At one point it could even make Spotify crash completely.
I would like to point out that a saner, more flexible queuing system could allow even finer control over when to stop playing. Thus people who like this idea might also like:
Make entire play queue editable (I have added my own comment to that idea about how Google Play Music seems to work)

I've also wanted this feature for a long time, and I made a little userscript to do this using the Spotify Play Button. I wrote a blog post about it in Norwegian a couple of minutes ago. Here it is, run through Google Translate.  A couple of the translations are a litle corny and weird, but I think you'll get the point, though. However, if you're fluent in Norwegian or JavaScript, these two links might help you clear things up a bit: Blog post in Norwegian, Spotify Break After at userscripts.org. Thank you for your time. :)

Curious if what your describing is similar to issue 4 which starts around 9:15 in video...
    https://youtu.be/q93jdOhi4Oc
If so this started for me, or at least I noticed it for the first time in LPX 10.1.1. What version of logic are you running?
I've recently found that this issue also affects note timing on instrument tracks that use the "External Instrument" plugin.

Do you have iOS 5.1.1 on your original iPad? If not update the iOS.
You might also try quitting the app and then reset the pad.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Still no joy? Delete the Keynote app, reset the iPad and then reinstall Keynote. You will not have to pay for downloading it again.

    for ipad,
    if you go to settings-General
You can select between using the side switch to lock rotation or mute.  If you select one mute, then the lock rotation icon will show up in the control center.  If you select lock rotation, then the mute will show up.  THe side switch is then used for the other option.

    Hi and welcome..
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Make sure your iPad is recognized in iTunes under Devices on the left.
Select the Summary tab then click Update.
