Times on Palm desktop doesn't match handheld

I recently Bought a Palm Centro and with it came the newest version of Palm Desktop. I installed it and I hace this strange problem, in my Centro I have an appointment at 9:00am. In Palm Desktop, also appears at 9:00am, but when the alarm starts in the PC along with it's dialog box, it appears that the event is at 01:30. The same happens if for example I see an event scheduled for 12:00 noon. In the graphic day view it appears in the 12:00 noon range, but if I open the appointment for editing, in the "time" for that event appears 4:30. What's wrong?
Thanks for the support

DTfromBT thanks for your response,
Yes, I live in Caracas Venezuela, and my PC is set for the correct time zone for this city which is GMT-4:30. My Centro has Caracas in the time zone list, and is set to it correctly.
I was using a previuos version of Palm desktop until yesterday when I installed this newer one that came with the Centro, and I didn't had this problem then.

  • Palm desktop doesn't show address book or memos or others

    No device
When I tried to sync my Tungsten E2, recieved an error message (could not establish communications - check your settings).  On a support website, it suggested the first step I try is to download and install the latest software.  I did and installed it.  Palm did its sync with no problem.   HOWEVER, when I ran the Palm desktop, only the Calender, Media, and Note Pad would display their data.  In the log, it showed that all of the apps uploaded their data.
After re-installing the software two more times, now it only displays pictures from Media, and nothing else!  What gives? and how can I correct this?

It's really up to you, but there are some caveats that you should be aware of.
With regard to synchronization, the Palm Desktop is not now (and never will be) Sync Services aware. Virtually all applications which engage in synchronization—under Mac OS X 10.4 or later—are, or soon will be. This renders the Palm Desktop effectively useless or, at the very least, outmoded, as a synchronization tool.
The Address Book is integrated to degree with Mail, and will be more so under Mac OS X 10.5, scheduled for release in about 6 months. The Palm Desktop is not.
I use the Address Book for contacts, iCal or calendars, the Missing Sync for Palm OS to synchronize them and to synchronize memos, AvantGo content, selected iPhoto and iTunes files, along with such mundane applications as airline schedules. And, I use Mail.
I'm no fan of Microsoft, but if Outlook worked well for you in the PC world, you should consider Entourage, with it's Sync Services aware capabilities, it's ability to synchronize contacts with the Address Book, calendars with iCal and memos through .Mac Sync. It is, of course, an integrated application including Mail capabilities, and is generally used as an alternative to Mail, the Address Book and iCal.

  • Not Hot Syncing w/Mac OS X 10.5.2 and Palm Z22, Palm Desktop 4.2.2

I tried double clicking the Hot Sync application, but it will not enable at system setup Error msg: "Could not create auto launch entry to enable HotSync at startup". Otherwise, Hot Sync Manager tells me that it is enabled, I selected it. Yet nothing is hot syncing. I entered some data into palm destop, and I don't see it on my handheld. Are all of these components compatible?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Ok. So I successfully hot synced, or so I thought. I disabled the hot sync, and then when I tried to re-enable it said that transport manager, and then conduit manager were not in the same folder, so that's why it wouldn't work. I gave up trying to have the hot sync manager in an easy location (ie. on my desktop), and deleted the icons. Then I tried again, but the step I was missing each time was hitting hot sync on my handheld! I haven't use a palm pilot in a looong time. The first hot sync was interrupted and incomplete, the 2nd one seemed to work. Only problem is, the data I entered in the datebook of Palm Desktop doesn't appear on my handheld. THat's precisely what I want to hot sync, much easier to do it on the comp. than manually on my handheld. Help? Does it make a difference that my computer is not registering a new device?

Why the Palm Desktop doesn´t work since I have installed  Service Pack 3 - Portuguese - on my Windows XP PRO ?

Try the following to see if you can get Palm desktop to open.
Locate your username folder on the PC. Look in c-programs-palm-username folder (this is the name you assigned in Palm desktop for the username).
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding your username folder.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=26674
Rename the data folders one at a time and see if Palm desktop will open. Locate the address folder and rename it to address.old. Try to open Palm desktop and see if you get the same problem. If you do, rename the datebook folder to datebook.old and try to open Palm desktop. Rename each folder with the same method and try to open PD. If it opens after renaming a folder then the folder you renamed is the culprit. Once you get palm desktop open, try a sync with the conduits set to Handheld overwrites desktop.
Let me know if it works. If it doesn't, then you will need to do a "clean" uninstall of Palm desktop.

You need to enter the password that you assigned on the handheld. If you do not know the password for palm desktop or on the handheld, you can try to reset the password on the handheld and then try to connect to the PC and sync to palm desktop.

  • Does Palm Desktop sing on the intel-macs?

I havent synced my treo in weeks and was wondering if palm deskstop works with intel-macs even under rosetta or something?

The latest version of Missing Sync bypasses iSync and uses Sync Services directly. It does things like sync the custom fields in your address book entries (Palm Desktop doesn't) and integrates with iPhoto and iTunes to sync photos and music. You can set up profiles of conduits so that only the conduits pertinent to the profile run. It also supports LAN sync if your PDA has wi-fi capabilities, which is far faster than Bluetooth.

  • Palm Desktop language encoding

I have installed PiLoc in hebrew on my Palm T|X.
Problem is, Palm Desktop doesn't seem to support whatever encoding PiLoc uses for its hebrew.  I assume it's either UTF8 or 8859-8.
Is there a way to set the encoding in Palm Desktop?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

It has been a while but I haven't needed hebrew support until now again.  I checked with piloc support and they tell me that there should be no problem as they use windows 1255 encoding.  How can I change the default encoding for palm desktop?

  • Palm desktop calendar - in month view, event times are in wrong order!

I use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on my Windows XP machine (I don't own a PDA). I enter my appointments in Week view and they look fine, but when I go to Month view (I want to print this view), the events for a given day show up in the wrong order!
For example, on one day I see:
    9a Event
    10:30a Event
    2p Event
    12p Event
and on the next day I see:
    9a Event
    2p Event
    10a Event
I tried changing things in Options and Preferences - no luck. I have messed around with it and can't figure out any weird pattern it might be sorting by (I've tried re-entering appointments to see whether it sorts by the last time they were entered/edited, and looked into whether it was sorting by category, length of event name, first digit of the time, length of time, alphabetically by event name, by whether it repeats/has a location/has a note/has an alarm/was entered by clicking once and typing or by right-clicking). It just seems baffling, and it definitely seems like a bug, since of course you'd want your events sorted by time.
Does anyone know what's going on or have this problem?
    Thanks!
    Post relates to: None

I had looked at this in response to another post, and didn't notice the same problem. But then I went back further and noticed it sure enough...it's only occasional.
I haven't done any kind of analysis as you have apparently done, mostly because I don't really use the desktop application except occasionally.
Thought maybe it sorts repeating events differently than single events, but I've seen it both ways, so that doesn't seem to be it.
It doesn't bother me enough, but it certainly seems like it would warrant an email support request to Palm, to see if they have an answer.

  • Palm Desktop Crash - unable to sync with handheld PalmOne Tungsten E2

Hello, this may have been addressed before, but I am not sure.  A couple weeks ago I was in Palm Desktop when it just froze.  Once I got out of it, I found that about 99% of my calendar datebook had been lost.  I have tried to sync it again with my handheld Tungsten E2 to try to reinstall my info from handheld to desktop - but it just gets stuck on syncing the datebook.  I had a computer geek look at it and he was unable to help me.  I guess I could live without my former appointments and re-enter my future ones, but I can't sync anymore, it keeps hanging up at datebook.  Any suggestions?  I really appreciate your thoughts.....BTW I have a MAC with Vista installed through Bootcamp.

    Hi,
Basically, the sync will stuck at Datebook when there are some corrupted Calender events on Palm device.
We have 2 options to fix this issue.
    1) Hard Reset.
    2) Use DbScan application to remove the corrupted calender events on Palm.
As many wouldn't like to do the hard reset as sometimes all the Calender events would be on Palm.
    Hence, I suggest DbScan.
It's easy to fix the issue.
First we have to set the DateBook to Do Nothing in the HotSync Manager window.
To get to the HotSync Manager window follow the below steps:
Right click on the HotSync Manager in the Windows System Tray(on the lower right corner of your computer) and click on Settings.
This will open the HotSync Manager window.
    And then click on Applications.
Make sure you select the correct sync user name in the HotSync Manager window at the top center.
    Double click on Datebook.
    check the box "Do Nothing"
And click on OK and Done button.
Now install the dbScan software from the below link.
    http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=2351
Download the software with Guest user name.
Double click the dbScan.prc file it will goes to Install Tool.
    Peform the sync.
This will install DBScan application on Palm.
Then, follow the below steps on your Palm device.
1.Tap on Dbscan application on the device.
If you see any message saying, it's an older version and you need to install a new version. Please ignore the message and go to next step.
    2. Choose the option other.
3.Press the menu button on the device.
4.From the options menu choose "Remove all the deleted records"
5.Now choose the option "Palm source".
6.From the options menu  again choose "Remove all the deleted records"
7.Now choose the option "Palm one".
    8. From the options menu choose "Calender DB Blob check".
    9.Tap on "Yes to all"
    10. Try performing HotSync now.
This will fix the Datebook sync issue.

The default settings mostly likely use an audio sample rate of 32k. This doesn't work probably in FCP. You're probably better off capturing the tape in iMovie.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2 Datebook has lost 98% of future entries for the second time

For the second time in a couple months when I opened the Datebook in Palm Desktop running on my PC (running XP) almost all the entries after May 18th are missing.  My last hot sync was June 10th - no errors were reported.  Each time I make an entry in any of the Palm Desktop apps I save.  I hot sync each evening when entries are made.  Only the Datebook seems to be affected.  I have a Palm Centro thru AT&T.

I solved the problem.  I no longer use the Palm Desktop.  I changed my hotsync conduit to Outlook, re-synced and everything transfered over without a hitch.  The missing Calendar entries were even transferred,  Life is now so much easier!

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 Doesn't Start

I just got a new laptop with Vista in December.  I synched my Palm TX with my older XP Home desktop.  Then I downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2, the one that just got released in Jan 2009.  I installed it and connected the Palm TX to the laptop.  I am now trying to open the Palm Desktop and it just freezes at the introduction screen saying that the Palm Desktop by ACCESS.  One thing I did note were some apparent error messages from HotSync manager stating certain files could not be found.  But, after I did the Hot Sync, there did not appear to be any errors.
I'm not quite sure what's happening and could not find a similar problem, posted as of Jan 2009, in the forums.  Please let me know if there's any other config info you need.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

I just restarted my laptop, here are some HotSync Manager notifications:
Notifier file 'AnnaNotifier.dll' was not found.  Notifiers are used by HotSync Manager to inform other applications about synchronizations sessions.  Please check your configuration to correct this problem.  HotSync Manager is skipping over this file.
    It repeats this for pdn20.dll, AlarmNotify.dll, EASNotify.dll.
I had installed the Palm Desktop 6.2 over an earlier version that I got with my TX.
