Tiny amount of kudos for Nokia

Since I have had a lot of whinges in here about the poor quality of the N97 it only seems fair to mention something good when it happens!
Just managed to move to V21 (that was a pain, took for ever and multiple attempts to get SW upate to work).
Nice outcome is that the music facility now seems to pick up album art consistently and properly. It even managed to locate my 2700 tracks quite swiftly. Well done Nokia!! Previous versions limped badly and never really did album art consistently or uniformly.
Only about a few hundred other things to improve to make the N97 a flagship product, but a move in the right direction!
how about starting by making it possible to install Ovi Store, Ovi&Nokia maps on the E drive and so give us all back 17mb of previous C drive??

that would be a good start, although I'm sure the reason Nokia force their apps to install on the C; drive is because they know that installing them on the slower mass memory will cause problems.
they could also remove the rubbish trial apps (boingo, qik, etc...) from the rom and save a few more MB and let's face it with the pitiful amount of NAND memory that they gave the N97 every MB counts. Why do they even need to be on the phone? Put them on the Ovi Store instead.

  • Twitter App for Nokia E72 ?

    Hello,
Is there a Twitter App for Nokia E72 ? If not does Ovi has any supportable App ? Any inputs will help.
    Thanks

Gravity is by far the best I've had the opportunity to use. It's not free, but it's well worth the small amount of money it costs:

Alternatively, I have no problem recommending TweetS60. There's a free version and also a premium version, TweetS60-Pro. Both are available here:

  • Firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280

I would like to know do we have firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280 as my present one is 3.65 and would like to upgrade it to 5.92 and I am in India
Could you please help me out.

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points
you can check for updates @ :
    http://mea.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update
To find what the latest available device software is, you’ll need your device’s product code. The code is printed on the white label beneath the battery (e.g. CODE: 0520001).
if your phone is branded with an operator, that means that you should go to the operator care center and ask them, not NOKIA
some updates delay in some countries variant product code, as it requires more effort to add language pack to it like "example. China Japan Korea" or it needs the country to approve it due to its policy

  • Enhanced features for Nokia Messaging

    Hi there,
Does anyone know when Nokia are planning for enhanced features for Nokia Messaging? The two features I have read about in some early reviews that I'm most interested in are Meeting Requests being integrated in to the Calendar, and to a lesser extent, the integration of Instant Messaging to the client.
    Cheers,
    travla

I don't understand how Nokia knows whether the connection is coming through GPRS or your home internet through WiFi. Nokia Messaging is free when using WiFi. That means that the carriers are intentionally firewalling connections to the Nokia servers and only unblocking it when you pay.

  • Flash 9 for nokia 5800?

does anyone knw if flash 9 will be availble for nokia 5800 in future updates? or is it just a hardware reason why it aint possible?
If iv helped in anyway, hit the kudos button

I'm guessing that the number of features that Flash Lite can support is indeed somewhat limited by the hardware.

    @vmoisa,
did you disable the cert checking? If not, it will not install, also sometimes the signatures are outdated. This is a problem of some of the theme makers. They do not update their signatures. They have great themes that will not install.

  • I'm hoping for Nokia to use Android OS.

Greetings! I am one of those who's hoping for something new for Nokia. I think it is better if Nokia will try to use the Android, or Android-like Symbian OS in their future phones. Please don't think that I don't like Nokia. I'm using N8, and I think it's better if it is running on Android. It has almost the perfect features for me. I would be open to recieve any comments or reactions. God bless and keep up the good work Nokia!

    Hello there!
I don't really think Nokia would make phones with Android OS in it.
Nokia Belle has almost similarity with Android, especially with that pull-bar notification bar.
After all, Android is quite laggy, my friend's S3 keeps lagging with games installed (But not open). Jellybean will probably fix that, but not too sure about it.
And hey, at least Windows Phone are smoother on less capable hardware!
If you want Android, only because you want those hundred thousands of apps, Windows Phone Store is also expanding and have been doing very good now.
After all, who needs so much apps say...1000?
If I have helped you in any way, give me a kudos!

  • USB Connector for Nokia 2730

Does Nokia not provide the Micro USB cable for Nokia 2730 model? If so do we need to purchase a Micro USB cable from outside?
Also Is it possible to copy the contacts present in the phone to the Memory card?

Unless there's an app, it won't communicate. The iPad has no file manager which is what a normal computer uses to communicate with other devices.
The USB will only work with downloading properly named photos and videos. It doesnt' work on anything else. (there are some older pages out there detailing how people used to be able to plug in keyboards and mice and headphones, but a 2011 software update reduced the amount of power allocated to the port, rendering most if not all of those unworkable)

  • Pin Code for Nokia 5880

    Hi,
Standard pin code to clear call duration for Nokia 5880?
    Please advise

If you mean the security code (which protects your phone) rather than the PIN (which protects your SIM) then the default on all Nokia phones is 12345.

  • Will symbian be released for Nokia N8

Will symbian belle be released for Nokia N8 ?

Apparently they had a few of the current Anna devices with the official Belle version on display at Nokia world so I agree with Vaidovesta, it will be soon.
I doubt it will come this month; it will be more of a Christmas present

  • 1600.3031.8779.12180 update for nokia lumia 710

    Hi , I am using Nokia lumia 710 ..
My phone's firmware version is - 1600.3031.8773.12121 and one of my friend's phone is running on 1600.3031.8779.12180 ...
    Why i didn't got that update .....
My phone is 059M161 same as my friends RM code
please tell me how can i update my device because i also tried Zune but it is also not showing any updates
    Please help me
    Moderators notes: IMEI number removed.

Here's an example for you to understand.
Let say, you just bought a phone with the earliest firmware. And you planned to upgrade your phone to the latest firmware. When you update it through Zune, it will automatically update the first update, then second update, third update until the latest update. It will update all those one by one and it will tell you to unplug your phone when the latest update is updated on your phone.
Your friend's phone is updated, but probably not on the latest one.
Anyway, you might want to check your phone for the latest update. It is available for your phone according on your product code. If your phone has camera extras, Internet Sharing and Flip-To-Silence features, it means your phone is fully updated to the latest update.
You can check this website for more information.
    http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/lumia/software-update-for-nokia-lumia
And here's your phone's product code that is actually available for the update.
    http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/lumia/apac/software-update-availability-for-noki...
    Hope this may helps you.
If I have helped you in any way, give me a kudos!

I've tried it on my PC, and I've also tried it on some recordings with my band, but mostly to joke around.
I also remember to have used it when playing Quake and Soldier of Fortune to enhance the game effects, but even then after a while I will switch it off.
I haven't tried it on a phone, but I don't even like Stereo Widening or Loudness.
