Tips to work with heavy SE/SW assemblies -CAD Integration
Hello All,
I am associated with SAP-Cad Integration for Solid Edge and Solid Work Applications. My concern is when working with large/heavy assembly structures.
What can be the few tips so that heavy data download from SAP Content server to local working directories can flow in less time and less likelihood of system getting crashed. Also is there something like a time period involved in CDESK by which if all assemblies or parts dont download, it crashes. If yes how can the time be increased. Basically how to improve efficiency while working with heavy assemblies for Solid Edge/Solid Work through CDESK

Tips for working with USB floppy drives
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on working with USB floppy drives in Archlinux.
One thing I've noticed is that trying to use mkfs.msdos on my USB floppy drive directly doesn't seem to result in a usable disk (it's mountable, but reports that I don't have enough space available to copy files), but if I use the command on an image file the same size as a floppy disk and then use dd to copy the blank image to my USB drive I get a disk that's perfectly usable. Anybody know what the deal is with that or how I might be able to successfully format a disk in fewer steps (other than keeping the blank images around and just using dd to format the floppies, haha)?
Also, I'd like to hear any other tips or tricks any of you have for working with USB floppy drives. They just seem so much more usable under Windows as opposed to Linux, and that disappoints me a little.jmetal88 wrote:Okay, thanks guys. I would assume this happens because (as far as I can tell from skimming through the source over the course of a few minutes) mkfs.fat only applies floppy size heuristics to fd and lo devices -- your USB floppy drive is treated as a hard drive, and that leads to less-than-ideal default parameters. Run
fsck.fat -v
on the more spacious filesystem to figure out what options need to be set when you attempt formatting an actual disk. Or just make things easier by keeping newly-formatted blank disk images on hand so that dd and (maybe) ufiformat are all you need to worry about. -

It came to my attention there a new program working with itune since last update named Apsdaemon.exe its been using 99% of my processus when its active.
Any idea why so much and will it be fix eventually because before last update i never encounter any issue using Itune? Now when that aplication or extention from Itune is working my computor froze to a huge alt. I play video games online and love listening to my music with itune playing in the background and normally was able to have firefox open and a program called ventrillo all working at the same time and now i can barelly have itune and play a game. As soon it start been choppy i just control alt delete wait 5 minute to close down apsdaemon.exe when i'm capable most of the time i have to restart my computor. And why is it so Heavy consuming on the process its memory utility is under the 100ko i believe so why 99% of my processus is been use ?

Ethernet/IP with Festo motor driver - assembly not working!
I'm trying to set up connection between PC and Festo motor controller (with Ethernet/IP module).
PC: Win x86 LV2012SP1f4 + NI Ethernet/IP 1.3 driver
Festo Motor Driver: SMMP-AS-C5-3A-M3 with CAMC-F-EP ethernet/ip module included
I'm able to read all classes/instance/attributes that fest offers but i have problem with assembly.
Via assembly instance 101 i suppose to read the 16B data frame from controller and via assembly instance 100 i suppose to write the 16B data frame to controller. That works without error. The size is return correctly as 16B if i read attribute 4.
But the data inside does not change at all, the read data does not correspond to the actual state of the controller and written data has no impact on the controller as well.
Anyone know what the reason may be?

Niether NI tech support niether Festo support is not able to help me. NI thinks this is controller issue, Festo thinks this is labview driver issue since the communication is working with PLCs like AllenBradley. I stucked in between.

If I were you I'd double check your constants again. When I displayed the radix (see screenshots) they were in decimal state. That means you were addressing Object x64 (d100) rather than Object x100 (d256). The same for Object x101. In the screenshot below you can see how to right-click, select display format and then you have a lot of dispay obtions (including hex or decimal).
FHPP is 'FESTO Handling and Positioning Profile' so it really does depend on how closely it matches the industry standard. To be honest I have no idea how close it is or not - I just know its different than CANOpen. With luck it in Ethernet/IP it might be similar at the driver level!
Anyhow assuming the radix issue doesn't give you a quick fix the FHPP is probably the main issue. I'd ask FESTO to point you at the software their tech support uses - usually they use freeware/shareware PC based software so you should be able to replicate what they do on your own system. Then with a port-sniffer you might be able to reverse engineer the FHPP to match what NI drivers produce.

I've been working with JavaFX for the past couple of months. I developed a GUI frontend to the system we are using. At the moment the application is fully functional and I have reached to point where I would like to slightly improve performance and also include a few transition animations in the navigation. See below for the SceneGraph structure of my applications.

I would like to add the following transitions:
(1) fade out the current centre node of (A), replace it with the new page's node and fade it in.
(2) Scale down and disable (B) or (C) (depending which of the two seems more natural while adding (D) to (E), which is faded and scaled up.
i) So to implement these transitions efficiently to which nodes would you advice me to switch on caching?
ii) should I switch it on at (E) (root), or switch it on to specific nodes involved with animations?
iii) Is it a good idea to switch on 'high quality' (cache hint) caching for all nodes and switch the cache hint to 'speed' for animating nodes?
iv) Should I have caching enabled for nodes with textfield, listview and label controls or is that something I should avoid. These include nodes which will be animated by (1)

I currently use Trust USB portable speakers in combination with my windows 7 minilaptop. But the problem I have is that they don't work with iTunes(newest version). However, they do work fine with WMP, any ideas how I can solve it?

That's quite a difference to PowerShell's:
([System.Nullable[System.Int32]]$null).GetType()
You can't call a method on an expression with value NULL.
See my point? PowerShell apparently doesn't have a notion about Nullable types. That's what I need to find out for myself: "Why?"

A few years ago or so i bought Aperture and Photoshop (the whole kit and caboodle) from a university subsidized store (my husband worked there and buying programs like those two, the whole Microsoft office Suite, all kinds of things) at a very significant discount, i think we paid 25$ for Photoshop vs the 400$ it was selling for on the open market.
Yesterday i upgraded most of my laptops to Yosemite (one of them I'm sure was the one that had Aperture on it, a 17in MacBookPro, its about 2 years old now, but at the time i bought it it was the highest computer apple had on the regular floor, I'm sure i could have added some stuff to customize it for extra, but basically we are talking top of the line computer. I recently just required a 2012 MackBook Air with also fairly heavy specs from a family member that was upgrading (I'm not sure why, i know they couldn't possibly be using this thing for anything beyond its capacity, its basically new, and they aren't 3D animation rendering and needed a "quicker" one).
I was very happy with the upgrade, and now it does work much more seamlessly with my iPads and my iPhone, but the whole reason i uploaded it was to work on pictures, adjust them, change the size and then print them out to include in jewelry, and Yosemite won't let me use Aperture at all, when i click to upgrade it (in the bar all it has basically old icon with a (no sign or ghost busters like sign over it) i click on it and it says, you did not buy this with your apple account name and i could not upgrade it. But it just made me click ok, and did not give me any info on how to upgrade it. i do physically own it, or my husband does, I'm not sure to whom it is registered, but sholdnt i still make it able to work with this new operating system, even if not through regular "software updates" it used to always be asking me to upgrade "word" and i got that in the same way, so what is the issue and what do i do to get it to work on this new system?Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

AIR-LAP1242G-E-K9 do not work with AIR-CT5508-K9 while AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 do
Hello,
we do have a site where we need to deploy AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 and AIR-LAP1242G-E-K9 APs. We have two AIR-CT5508-K9 controllers with SW version 6.0.188.0.
AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9s work okay, as expected, we do not have any problems with them.
However AIR-LAP1242G-E-K9s do not, there is a problem with establishing CAPWAP tunnel with the controller.The AP is seen on the controller for a while, with 0 time up-time, cannot change any settings on the AP via controller, and after a while it disapears from the controller, apears again and this repeats.
The APs and controllers are connected to the LAN campus.
Controllers via two 1G links configured as Etherchannel to WS-C6506-E VSS switch with s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-vz.122-33.SXI1.bin on it.
APs to WS-C3750G-48PS with c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-50.SE2.bin on it. 3750 is connected to the C6505 via two 1G links configured as Etherchannel.
Below I copied the log I captured on 1242 and the controller. Highlighted ones are the ones which I think might bring a clue.
I performed some troubleshooting steps.
- As we have some other controllers available over WAN, I tested the 1242 AP with 2100, 4400 and also with the same model AIR-CT5508-K9 with SW version 6.0.188.0 over WAN and this worked always okay.
- I wanted to be sure that I eliminate any kind of out of sequence packet issue, so I brought down all redundancy L2 links so that the L2 path from the AP to the controller was only through one leg links.
- I also brought the second controller down to eliminate potential issue with having two of them up.
- The AP gets its IP from DHCP configured on the C6506 switch, I am always able to ssh to AP, so the IP connectivity does not seem to be an issue.
- I have more 1242s, all behave in the same way. I also connected them to some other 3750 switches we have in the campus, always the same.
- As this seems to be maybe a kind of ssl issue, I tried to play with controller settings, like enabling Accept... options under Security/AP Policy,but this did not help.
- I also tried to reboot the controller, no improvement.
- The APs came from the factory, so in the beginning everything was factory default in them. They were always able to download the image from the controller in the very initial phase. I still do have some of them untouched, so I can perform any troubleshooting steps with the fresh one.
I can reproduce this, can also send debugging logs if needed.
Any idea on what could be wrong is highly appreciated.

Yes, I seem not to to be 100% perfect as for the list of troubleshooting steps I took.
I had already tried the two commands you mentioned. I tried again, this time with some other 1242, but these do not help.
Yes, I was already thinking that this could be in theory a licensing issue. The controller is bougth with 25 licenses.
In the beginnign I had one 1142 on it and tried to enable 1242s which did not work. Now I have five 1142s on it, as this worked okay, I guess it could not be a licensing issue.
I think that I can see in the log files that the machines communicate to each other, L2 or L3 paths seem to be working okay. I forgot to mention that I am using option 43 on the DHCP server, so the AP clearly finds its way to the controller. What's more both APs and the controllers are in the same VLAN, so they are in the same broadcast domain.
Below is sho ver from the AP. The AP seems to have Certificate type - manufacture installed, so I guess there should not be a problem with the certificate, especially knowing that the AP works with other controllers over WAN.
My guess these messages seen on AP especially "Invalid event 38 & state 3 combination" might tell us what's wrong.

APPLE TV DOES NOT WORK WITH NETFLIX
APPLE TV DOES NOT WORK WITH NETFLIX, just a black screen and "Netflix is loading" message appears. I can´t even see Netflix´s home page or set up my account. Netflix is working fine on all other devices at home, but in Apple TV.
I have tried the 8.8.8.8 DNS trick, the turn off procedure, the manual IP setting, but nothing....black screen still appearsIt started working.....!!!!! (It seems someone back there is listening)
I "forced" an upgrade, I mean it showed "AppleTV is updated", nevertheless I re-started the system using the "return to original configurations" option. Then it updated again by itself to a newer version....and started working perfectly.
I have paired my apple wireless keyboard and it works fine, this way is easier to set up passwords or so (you can also do it with your remote).
TIPS:
I didn´t change any language or video quality configuration (scared to do so)
I changed to ethernet (cable) instead of wireless
My internet plan is 6 Megabytes (it was the same while it wasn't working)

This post will deal with what you may need to look at.
First off make sure your device is acting as a DHCP server. (if you are already on the internet you may not have to bother with this.)
Check in the Network Preference Pane, in the "Built in Ethernet" option from the "Show" drop down list.
Make sure the TCP/IP tab is the 'front' one. You should be able to see Configure IPv4 and it most likely reads Using DCHP. Make a note of your IP address. It will start 10.xxx.xxx.xxx or 192.168.xxx.xxx (the 'x' s will stand for any number between 1 and 255).
Your router is most likely to be configurable from your browser. You will need to find the IP address to type into the browser from any Readme or PDF files that came on the install disk or visit the makers website and download a manual.
DMZ Demilitarised Zone
This is a less secure setting that basically opens all ports and points the incoming data to your computer. (not helpful if you have more than one computer on your LAN)
NAT Sometimes called NAPT and related to Port Forwarding (also Virtual Server or Pin Holes)
These settings are usually found in an Advanced setting.
You will need to set an incoming IP address (Usually 0.0.0.0 for any outside server), a port that data will arrive on, the Inside computers IP address (your computer) and the port it will deal with the data on and the protocol it will use.
iChat uses TCP and UDP so some devices will need the settings done twice, once for each protocol.
See Apple Doc 93208 for more information.
Note:
Note 1 should read:
1. All iChat AV traffic is UDP except for ports 5190 and 5298, which need to be open for both TCP and UDP; and 5220, 5222, which need to be open for TCP only.
UPnP Universal Plug n Play.
This is a simple Plug and Play type of setting. iChat can find it's own way through a router if the device has this capability.
Trigger Ports
Some devices offer a security measure that works by a first or trigger port receiving a data packet and then opening further ports when accepted.
The first port for incoming Video or Audio invites is port 5678. When you click on the invite window the process moves to port 5060 (so these will need to be opened by the trigger port) for negotiating the final group of ports from the group of 20 (16384-16403 These will need to open when the trigger says so as well). Therefore port 5678 triggers ports 5678, 5060, 16384-16403. All on UDP. Port 5190 neeeds to trigger port 5190 for both TCP and UDP
Wireless
Here you will have to read around but this Apple Doc 58514 might be a good starting place.
Multiple devices
Make sure only one is acting as a DHCP server. Make sure wireless devices are bridged properly.

How to Work With Still Images in Premiere Elements 10
I am struggling with the still images in my Titles for my video project, and would really appreciate some help. I have done a lot of googling on this and searched this forum, but can't seem to find the answer I need, maybe not searching the right questions or just "not getting it". Not even PE Adobe tips or Adobe TV cover this, although it seems important to know. I am not clear how PE10 will handle the resolution of an imported still image or graphic art from Photoshop. Perhaps this topic will also help others as well.
I am working on a video project for my job, editing an old training video. Created new Title graphics in Photoshop, inserted the Title images and integrated with video clips, then exported the video segments as MPEG files. I burned the whole video to DVD.
When the final DVD plays on a computer or TV screen, the photo images in the titles are fuzzy even though they were clear 300 dpi images. (I know dpi doesn't matter in video). The title text is also a bit fuzzy and the title text that has animation applied to it is even more fuzzy. Yet the old MPEG video clips look fine - it's just my title graphics and text that look bad (embarrasing).
So I need to know how to improve the quality of the still images/graphics for a video??
Project settings:
- Hard Disk, Standard 48kHz
- Editing Mode: DV NTSC
- Frame: 720 x 480 (0.9091)
- Frame rate: 29.97fps
- with "Optimize Stills" box checked
Using these settings because I am working with MPEG files from an old training video CD.
File Export: MPEG, NTSC DVD Standard
I export the video clips as MPEGS because they will be burned to a CD or DVD for distribution to our staff offices.
Work Details:
In Photoshop, I created still image graphics for each Title sized at 720 x480 with high resolution photos and company logo (300 dpi), and save them as a bitmap to import into PE10. In the Timeline, I insert the still image in "Video 1" track, then in Video 2 track create a Title over it for text (some animated, some still). Sometimes I stack 2 or three titles with text in separate video tracks over one still title image. Yes, there is a red line across the top in the Timeline because I didn't render the still images.
Questions:
• What is the best resolution for images imported into PE10 from Photoshop?
• Should I be creating title graphics/images at 720 x 480 or a larger ratio like 1920 x 1080 so it will display better when seen on a computer or TV?
• Do I need to render each title image in the timeline so that it will eventually display better in the MPEG?
• Is it better to create a title and then insert the still image into the title so they are integrated, rather than layered on separate video tracks?

Remember that DVD-Video was designed for CRT TV sets, and was a major step up from VHS tape. However, when viewed on an HD computer monitor, or HD TV *, it is still ONLY 720 x 480, with is about 1/4 of the resolution as 1920 x 1080, which is about what we are used to seeing on those display devices. That is but only 25% of the quality. It can never look as good as HD material.

* With the advent of BD players, and up-rezzing DVD players, things HAVE improved, when viewing a DVD-Video on an HD TV. The newer players have up-rezzing chips, that do a very good job of "improving" the viewed material's quality. However, even with those amazing chips, DVD-Video will NEVER be as good as a full-HD source. Also, computers do not have those up-rezzing chips, so when one views a DVD-Video on a high-rez computer monitor, it will still look pretty bad. There ARE a couple of new DVD software players, that improve the quality of DVD-Video played on a high-rez computer monitor, and a few look fairly promising. I speculate that we will see some more development in the DVD-Video area, especially as BD is not proving to be the big seller, that many promised. Even 3D is not helping BD realize its promise.
