Tm2t cpu temp between 40-65 and fan always on

HI I just got my TM2t XQ330AV - intel core i5 u470 and amd etc.
Well first of all, the fan is always running even with the option for fan disabled.
I also notice the tempurature of the laptop is pretty warm to touch and where the vent is at, the temp is noticeably warm.
On idle, (im running current ver of core temp) my cpu is around 37-47 degrees with 2-10 percent load.
From the reviews, this laptop was supposed to be cool running.
Also, I have fully charge the laptop overnight and have it unplugged now with the lowest power setting on, brightnss to about less than 50 percent and im already at 65 percent battery after just 1 hour. At this rate, i dont think im going to get to the 5 hour mark others been raving about.
What do you guys think?

For example:
I have my macbook on a hard flat surface, and the rear vent is not blocked by anything and is not packed up with dust. My room temp is 68F.
I opened Google Earth and set the globe spinning. I opened iTunes and burned a playlist to a cd. I opened Safari and played a video from Hulu.com. So those three apps and FlashPlayer were all running above 20%CPU for about 10 minutes and the fan ran at 6200rpm but kept the cpu temp below 185F. Once i quit everything except ActivityMonitor all the cpu processes dropped below 5% and it took about 3min for the cpu temp to get down to 130F and the fan idled at 1800rpm.
Im pretty sure this is normal for the macbook. I believe the max operating temp for your intel cpu is somewhere between 212F and 221F .

• CPU Raises to 105*C and fans stay at 2000RPM...

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro (see sig for specs). And it has been running great. The first few days it ran a little hotter than I would have liked, but things have calmed down.
However, I just installed World of Warcraft on my new rig-- part of my reasoning for buying the new system... and I am having some odd behavior. I play in windowed mode so that I can monitor the temperature of my CPU, and things seem a little off.
After booting the game and running around a bit-- within a 3-5 minutes, the temp of the CPU has raised to 105*C with NO relief from the fans. The fans remain at 2000RPM while the CPU cooks. I keep force quitting the game when 105 is met, so I can't say whether the fans would kick on at 106, or 110. I don't wish to find out. The fans should be kicking on at 80 or something more reasonable. I can't explain this.
The fans ramp up when I do other tasks that tax the CPU... I have yet to see them go above 4000RPM.
I should not have to resort to installing a third party software for the purposes of controlling fan speed. The OS should do so in a proper manner. However, I have installed SMCFanControl and have been able to play WoW with the fans at 5000RPM and a CPU temp of 80*C.
Under Snow Leopard-- what temp triggers your fans to kick up (even as little as an extra 500RPM)?

Yes, that's normal and nothing to worry about.

• Why is my macbook Slow and fan always running

I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and since then my computer has been slow and lagging a lot. I see the perpetual spinning beach ball more than I would like. I have done everything I can think of within my knowledge to rectify the problem but it still seems slow to me. I have unistalled apps, cleared caches, run an antivirus, run onyx and cleanmymac applications. I don't know what else I can do. I also find that my fan is running constantly and when I look at the activity monitor nothing is eating my CPU, in fact it is always below 10%. Here is my most recent Etrescheck. PLEASE HELP!! I'm open to all and any suggestions. Thank YOu

Installing CleanMyMac will corrupt your system. I know of no way to recover from its effects other than to reinstall OS X and other essential software. "Essential" is defined to specifically exclude CleanMyMac as well as all similarly ill-conceived "cleaning" products that are likely to have similar effects. Never install such junk on a Mac.
Erasing your Mac will have the benefit of eradicating it, the useless Avast garbage, and Internet Plug-Ins as well.
You are likely to need more memory. 2 GB is barely sufficient to run any OS later than Snow Leopard. Your MacBook can address as much as 8 GB and I recommend at least 4 GB.

• I have about 97% directoryservice cpu usage, 55% cpu usage, high temps and fan speeds with very minimal activity on my macbook, how can I resolve this?

Recently my computer has only been showing 42% idle when im doing absolutely nothing on the computer, i'll only be browsing the internet. Even when I shut down programs such as drop box, skype, itunes, etc. When I check activity monitor the only process that is using over 5% is directoryservice, and it is usually sitting between 90-99% usage. I downloaded istat which is showing my cpu temp at 77 degrees and fan at 4000 rpm. If I watch a youtube video it will kick into 6000 rpm. Please tell me how I can resolve this issue!! When I restart the macbook it seems to work for about 10-20 minutes where I can browse with ~90% idle and ~2000 rpm.

I discovered this issue independent of this thread, and can confirm that killing KiesWifiAgent will instantly take care of DirectoryService's high CPU load. You'll also free up a bunch of memory. On my MBP (8 GB RAM), Kies had leaked its way to consuming 1.5 GB of memory.

• Fan speed and CPU temp

Hi There,
I have MBA 13'' Mid 2011.
I'm little bit concerened about Temp of my CPU which is 96°C, and Fan speed is around 6500rpm.
I can hear my fan all the time.
It was not like this always and i'm kind of sure that something is causing this.
I worked before with lots of apps open (itunes, photoshop, text editor, chrom, mail, parallels..) and fan and temp was not this high.
Is there way to find out what is causing this high usage?
Thanks in advanced

First execute a SMC reset:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If no change, install istat menus.
http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/
Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and CPU. Make certain that CPU displays values from high to low.
Post images of both istat menus and Activity Monitor whe the MBA has heated up.
Ciao.

• Macbook pro 13' 2012 fan problem? (high cpu temp)

my macbook gets cpu temp at 98C and then the fan starts raising speed from the default rpm(2000rpm).
with heavy cpu usage and cpu temp at 93-100C, tha fan waits about 2-5 minutes and then kicks in and increase the rpm( the higher rpm i saw was 4000rpm at 101C cpu temp). all the other time the fan speed is between 1995-2004rpm.
Is this normal?
I've already tried SMC and PRAM reset and clean OSX installation.

thank you for your answer.
But is it normal for the fan to wait so long 2-5 minutes and then start raising the rpm?
I expected that the rpm will go up simultaneously with the Cpu temp. Like if the Cpu starts increasing temp (about 70-80C) the fan will kick in...
I know from a friend with a Macbook retina that his fans keep spinning at 3000-4000rpm and always keep the Cpu temp close to 60C. I know that the architecture is diferent but the cooling logic should remain the same. right?

• Normal woring temperature and fan speed?

Hi,
I have installed vista x64 bit on macbook pro and have some questinos.
FIrst, can someone help mi to find keyboard shortcuts for turning on/off wireless network and bluetooth... if is this possible.
Second, I have installed "input remaper" that allow me to reconfigure some keyboard shortcuts, and it automatic control fans and monitor CPU tempereature. It is between 60-70c and fan speed is set on 2000 rpm minimum... Is it this ok, mean this temperature because machine is sometimes really hot....
Regards,
BA

I too have been wondering the same things. My temps are very high as well 68-69C for the GPU and 65-67C for the CPU cores when under Vista. I do not believe that Vista has any method to control the fans at all for the new unibody macbook and macbook pro models, at least that is the conclusion that I have been coming to myself. I have tried speedfan, riva tuner, coretemp, input remaper, and ati tool, all to no avail. Nothing knows how to properly access and control the fans for the laptop under Vista, and on top of that, the 9600 GPU is the one in use when under Vista, which means even more heat at idle. This really needs to get fixed with an update of bootcamp or a full driver release for vista.

• CPU Temp Idle/Load Difference

need a few second opinions here. below are my cpu temps (using speedfan, MBM5, and prime95):
w/o CnQ:
idle: 35-37
load: 50-52
with CnQ, w/o SmartFan:
idle: 35
load: 53-54
with CnQ & SmartFan (target 40%, tolerance 5):
idle: 31-32
load: 51-52
as you can see the only difference CnQ has made is in my idle temp, which seems pretty good to me, and is actually in the lower range of most of the quotes i have read on here. my question is, should my temp on load be as high as it is? that's a 20 degree difference, and it usually shoots up to the high 40s within a matter of 3-4 seconds and thankfully doesn't go TOO much further. should the difference between idle/temp really be so great? i would have expected my load temp to be a little less than that, maybe the high-40s, maybe even the mid-40s. there's no overclocking here, folks. not a whole lot of tweaking going on.
i've checked to make sure CnQ is functioning correctly, all signs point to yes. i made sure i applied a correct amount of AS5 - i read enough stories about people applying too much so i kept that in mind when using it. i can't imagine that i may have still needed even less than that. besides, my idle temp would have been way higher if i had misapplied, right? my only problem is with the load temps. i've tried several of the recent bios revisions but disappointingly i see very little difference if any in temps i am getting through bios or speedfan. besides, my bios usually reads 41-44 degrees (that should be idle right?) so i don't even pay attention to it.
is my load temp something to be worried about? if not, is it something that could be improved upon? should i get some kind of temp sensor and give it a manual test that way? not sure how to go about doing that or where to pick up a temp sensor. also, my NB/sys temp is usually hovering in the low-mid 40s but that's because i never thought to get a chipset cooler, which i have subsequently ordered from compUSA (i hear compUSA's FMI chipset cooler is recommended). could taking down the chipset temp a few degrees affect the CPU temp by chance? are there some other BIOS switches i should check out and experiment with? i am not a newbie to computers generally, but i AM more of a newbie tweak-wise.
with the purchase of my new system, my first one put together from scratch (and hey, everything's working fine so i must've done a decent-enough job right?), i have really had to take some crash courses in BIOS issues, upgrading, the whole CPU fan and thermale compound market, which i never even knew existed. my previous system is a 400mhz p2 so you can imagine i pretty much had to get an update on the entire industry as it stands to know what i was doing! hey, i even got a BIOS savior to shield me against corruption, etc. nifty little piece of tech stuff.
all suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. i would optimally like to get my load temp down to mid/high 40s range. perhaps i'm expecting too much here?
thanks,
kevin

The short answer is that cnq will not affect your load temps, since when loaded, it is effectively running exactly as it would without CNQ.
Yes, the temp will "shoot up" more when you go from non-loaded to loaded with CNQ, simply because it is starting from a lower temp to begin with.
You will learn not to trust corecenter readings eventually - they are by no means guaranteed accurate.
If you put your finger on your cpu heatsink when under load - if it's fairly warm, that's ok - if you can't hold it there for 10 seconds without burning, it's too hot.
Edit: I see you were using speedfan - same comment about accuracy applies.

• Is this idle CPU temp normal?

I'm running an early 2008 2.4GHz Macbook (white). On idle, the CPU ranges between 61°C and 64°C. After a few minutes at around 80% load, i get around 86°C. Is this normal? According to this site,
http://www.intelmactemp.com/list?vmodel=41&v_cpufreq=&v_memory=&v_hddsize=&v_hddrpm=&v_serial=&v_macosxver=&v_ambi ent_1=&v_ambient_2=&v_idleoem_1=&v_idleoem_2=&v_loadoem_1=&v_loadoem_2=&v_hddtem p_1=&v_hddtemp_2=&v_whine=&v_moo=&vpostedby=
users are getting about 20°C lower temps on idle. Any input?

Thanks. I gave this a shot, but i'm still getting the same temps. There's plenty of airflow around the laptop as it is on a stand which raises the back of the laptop. I also noticed, last night, that there was a faint, but audible whine that I never noticed before. Maybe I'm just being ultra paranoid now, but I like knowing that my hardware is functioning as intended. I'm fearful that the above-average idle temps are a precursor to an upcoming hardware failure.
I also have iStat Menus installed and i'm currently getting 2500-3183rpm. I currently only have 6 apps open (safari, adium, preview, mail, photoshop, and itunes). No flash movies loaded and one 6MB PSD file open in Photoshop. Activity Monitor currently shows the highest CPU percentage at 5.8 (safari).

• What should be the cpu temp while exporting a 720p movie?

Today i had my first shoot with iMovie and i exported a 720p movie. My macbook pro has i5 with 13 inch it came with lion pre installed. My cpu temp was 80~83 and the fan was 3000~4300? Is that normal? what s your results?

That temp and fan speed is fine. I get those while playing a game called Zen Bound 2.

• Envy 14 1095la. High pitched whine sound and fan cycling.

Hi. I'm in contact with the customer service about 2 (and a 3rd maybe related) annoyances I have on my Envy 14 1095la (XC515LA#ABM) notebook. I want to share them here in case someone has some clues and guidance about them.
Fan cycles continously on and off every couple of seconds
... on light usage (using the low performance GPU and a text editor).
Reading the temps using Coretemp and HDinfo, I can hear the fan kicking in when CPU temp is above 35º and turning off when it reverts back to this value.
Enabling the "FAN ALWAYS ON" option on the BIOS (as suggested by the tech guy) has no effect over the problem (yes, the fan remains always on, but you can still hear it cycling RPM constantly).
Since this model has no option to regulate the FAN via software, the only solution seems to be a BIOS upgrade.
Sometimes, I can hear a high pitched sound coming from the computer.
Tech guy suggested me to experiment a bit with this to better understand what can be the problem. I've found so far:
Seems to be far more frequent if the battery is in place (without the battery I heard it only once, and quiet).
Seems to be more louder if the battery is in use.
The sound seems to originate from the Seagate Momentus HD, but It is so high pitched that makes difficult to point the exact origin.
Messing with the sound options (muting mics, audio etc) seems to have no effect.
Sometimes I feel a strong vibration on the palmrest
Perhaps related to the previous, sometimes I can feel a strong vibration on the right palmrest.
Resting the notebook over different surfaces (or lifting it in the air) seems to have no effect.
Reading a bit on this forum I can see that the Seagate Momentus HD is a strong candidate for the vibration+high pitched sound problem, but again, if anyone has a better idea or an aditional test I can made to be sure, is welcomed.
Thanks!

Well, notebook is out for repair.
I've in touch with a level 2 support guy that acknowledged that the "fan cycling" thing is odd and will pass a report to the engineer team (hope HP is not lazy because the Envy refresh and new BIOSes).
About the high pitched noice and vibrations, they will check the HD, but since SMART values are alright, I doubt they´ll change it.

• CPU temp sensors?

I´ve got a MSI 6330v5 motherboard, but it seems like, there´s no sensors for system temp. or cpu temp.
It measures my fans, and voltage fine. So there is a HW monitor, but no temp. sensors. Is it possible to add these sensors to the MB, or am I just f..... in that way?
/Rasmus

FINALLY i'm back here at MSI!
i got a new HD from WD!
Got a new clean win xp pro, so i'm happy to be here again!
hi man,
go here http://mbm.livewiredev.com/
on the left side of the page you see the link 'motherboard list'. This site is made for users who runs motherboard monitor 5.
once you see your motherboard you will see the main sensor chip and the case and cpu sensors of your board.
there are 3x ms-6330 on the list, so attention is NEEDED before determining the sensor chips!!
i hope you will like that page and the software they provide.

• CPU temp issues on E450

Hi Forks,
I have E450(2xCPU 400MHz, OBP 3.14) running well for many years, but a few days ago, the system has issues WANRING "CPU fans set to MAX, CPU temp is 79" and then it's shutdowned unexpectedly when CPU temp (Warning under OS) reached to 80C.However, room temp is around 20C and fans inside are fine (spining properly). Also, there is another err message "CPU1 is overheating" issued one time before the system shutdowned.
I also tried to do some test steps as physically as pull sidepanel out and see fans spining properly, touch the surface of CPU module and feel that it's very HOT (over 70C) , i supposed that CPU itself is too hot so that it was causing the system shutdowned.
Any one experienced on this issues, pls show me how to resolve issues.
Thanks.

how can you while the sequence boot is stopped and you fall on the prompt "ok?

m-lennon

# shutdown -y -i0 -g0

ok setenv auto-boot? false
ok reset-all

ok setenv diag-device disk
ok setenv diag-level max
ok setenv diag-switch? true
ok power-off

At this point power the server on by the switch and allow the system to run through extended POST >=3 times.
You can also set this by using the key, but I prefer using the command line.

I'm not sure to understand your last explain:
Running 3 times the server through extended POST: you do this action by putting the switch key on the front panel on diag-mode and start and stop the system 3 times?

Otherwise the command line to set this action is "setenv diag-switch? true " right?
• Does bios 1.08 really fix the CPU temp?

I just plopped in a shiny new 3700+, and I noticed that unlike my old 3200+, my temps now don't read correctly. My old 3200+ seemed to read accurately @39c. Now with my new 3700+ it reads 63c. I have confirmed that it is not running anywhere near that high, and seems very close to my old 3200+.
I'm presently running bios 1.06 and everything runs great. On previous motherboards I've had, new bios'es come out claiming to fix CPU temp readings, but my experance has always been that I've not seen the fix claimed after flashing.
Has anyone running a 3700+ flashed to bios 1.08 actually seen the temp reading fixed? I can't understand why my 3200+ reads right on but yet my 3700+ is so far off.
Thanks

Umm..ok, guess I will just hang with 1.06
I've always been of the opinion, that if your attempting to fix something, then flash. If a new flash doesn't fix the thing I'm trying to fix, then I skip it.
Thanks for the feedback.
