To develop web application

I would like to develop web application to access the oracle
database. I would like to java? which is better: jsp or servlet?
What are the software do i need to develop and running
jsp/servlet? Do I need a web server to run jsp/servlet, a driver
to connect to oracle like jdbc driver?
What is the architecture like?
Thanks.

You need to have Oracle Applicaiton Server as middle tier. Inside OAS, there are sample html codes and jinitiator to move Developer applicaiton to web without any code changes.

  • Developing Web Applications

We teach Oracle Applications using Developer 2.1 and Oracle8.
Recently we received Oracle 8i. We would like to also teach
developing web applications using Developer suite. My question
pertains to some operational procedures. It seems in order to
develop web applications one needs to install both the Developer
server and Oracle web application server. However, with the
arrival of Oracle8i, does one need both the servers or are they
already part of Oracle8i. I would appreciate if you could
    provide some clarifications.

Oracle Application Server is not part of Oracle 8i, it is a
separate product. You don't need OAS for Oracle Developer Server
(Developer and Server 6.0). Ofcourse you do need a web server.
Be prepared for the Oracle Adventure of Configuring Developer
Server. If you have problems look at previous threads in this
    discussion forum.

  • How to update survey in Complaint from developed web application

    Hello,
We've setup complaint management including the usage of surveys within a complaint document.
Complaint documents are accessed using the SAP GUI but will also be maintained using a newly developed application in the Enterprise Portal.
To access the survey using the external web application I need to know how to call the URL for the survey within a complaint transaction. I know how to setup the survey parameter xml but that allows me to call the survey irrespective of a transaction document. How do I call a URL that allows me to bring up a survey stored within a complaint document (is there for example a parameter I can pass to the URL indicating the GUID of the document the survey is in?
    Thanks,

I have used local ejbs in other application servers, WebSphere and JBoss, from discrete web applications running in the same VM as the ejbs. The requirement for local interfaces is that the ejb and client be running in the same VM. Maybe Weblogic is different in that respect, but I doubt it. Why marshal data through a Remote interface when both components are in the same VM?
I have gone through the Weblogic documentation and have not been able to find an answer to my question, which is why I posted the original question the way I did. Weblogic does not put the ejb in the jndi namespace, but the ejb can be acquired through jndi. In the Weblogic console deployments view I can see the bean deployed as CustomerBean, but there is no clue as to its jndi name. This forum is peppered with different schemes for accessing an ejb, but none of those has worked for me, hence the different names I tried.

Please correct me if i am posting thread in wrong area.
I am going to develop web application for a university, a complete online portal for Teachers, Students and Administrators. There are more than 50 affiliated campuses of university in different cities. I need to develop centralized web application which all campuses' teachers/students/administrators will access from internet. Please guide me what hardware, module, development technique etc should i use.
I am using J2SE and Oracle10g to develop that application.
    Thank You

Digging a little deeper into the source code, it looks like the company that developed their T-shirt Design App is located in India and called No-Fresh.com
No-Fresh licenses their T-shirt Design App.  You might want to contact them directly.

  • Does any body have any design patterns of JSF Web Application Developping?

Can any one answer me some questions?
#1.I am an amatuar of people who develop Web Application. For some reason,We choose the JSF to develop our item.through some introduction,I know the UI component of JSF is resided in Server side,is it right?but I am a little confused that:if there are many users who are exploring our jsf website.(to simplify my question, image I had just one web page and just one button)How many UI components(buttons) will be there? How it(they?) works?
#2.Does any body have the success experience (for example design pattern)to develop web applications?if We just concern about the Add,Delete,Modify,Query operations of some data.
I just do my job according to my feeling.
I will give every page a pagebean(backing bean),and I am not sure how to combine the business data with the pagebean.some one suggested that I should use delegate pattern to separate my business log and page logic. But I am still confused by following things:
#2.1 does JSF have the same ability to help us construct the model dialog just like swing to
help us control the operation flow?
#2.2 If there is not,Does the following way work?I put every tabledata's property as corresponed component.if user choosed the row in the table,My Listener will syncronize the row data to the components. But
#2.2.1 if JSF has the components according to the web users' number, how can My Listener tell which component should be update?Should I maintain the map?
#2.2.2 If the problem I imaged above is false,Does any body can tell me how to custom      the ListDataModel,so I can use it like Swing?because now I can just use some view data to insert into ListDataModel, but after some selection operation,my business object must be find according to the selected data,it is not an interesting job!
I am waiting for your advice!

Ok I'll try to explain Step by step please correct me if I make any mistake because I have not played much with shared variables.
To create a shared variable to an RT target go to the target if tou have already otherwise add an RT target by right clicking the Project>>Add targets and Devices
Then in the target Right clikc and select the variable as shown below.
Then once the Shared variable settings window opens Enter a variable name and then Select the type "Network Published"
In the right side you can select the data type for the shared variable and even you can choose your custome controls.
After selecting the data type go for the Network and select buffering if required else leave it if you are planning to use the variable just for display purpose.
Then you can enable the RT FIFO if required (Not able to explain how it works and why it is used).
Then after completing the Shared variable setup you can access the variable in the VI in both the Host and the RT.
You can bind the variable to a control so that if any data from the RT is coming you can read the data from that control.
Once you have placed your shared variable in the BD you can change the access typr to read or write depending on your need.
This might not explain the complete shared variable concept but I believe that this would defenelty give you a kick off to start using the shared variable. Please correct or add more comments if anybody know better.
    Good luck.
The best solution is the one you find it by yourself

  • Tools for Developing Rich Web Applications

What tools are others using to Develop Web applications
against BW 3.5? I have a few years of experience developing web applications using Visual Studio .NET and C#, but the .net PDK is not an option in our current environment.
I was thinking that writing jsp's would give me the flexibility I needed to develop Rich web applications, but being new to SAP BW I am not sure.
I am looking for tools in which I can control result sets, write logical code based on users information to filter and return data.
    Please list technologies and Languages.

Hi Jimmy.  As it relates to SAP,  you can use a couple different technologies.   JSP on the java side, or BSP on the ABAP side will allow you to do pretty much anything you want.  It allows you to use HTML and javascript and also HTMLB.   You could also use Web Dynpro.  Web Dynpro is SAP's new UI strategy.  It is designed to help you create business transactions, so the UI elements are stardard and cannot be modified.  But its cool, because you drag/drop your ui elements in the layout.  Web Dynpro allows you to create robust web applications without coding the UI and allows you to focus on the business logic.  Of course there is some coding to handle UI, and flow, but not as much as when you are developing JSP or BSP.

But what I also notice is that you don't appear to be using packages. You need to indicate the fully qualified class name of the servlet as the value of the <servlet-class> element inside the <servlet> tag. And fully qualified class names include packages. It's important when developing web applications to place your class files in packages. It's important generally, but specifically with web app development.

  • From a Technical Architect point of view, how to design a web application?

    Hi to all,
I am writing this issue here because I this question is not related on how to program, but on how to design a web application. That is, this question is not related to how to program with the technologies in J2EE, but how to use them correctly to achieve a desired outcome.
Basically I know how to develop a simple web application. I like to use SpringFramework with AcegiSecurity and Hibernate Framework to persist my data. I usually use JBoss to deploy my web applications, however I could easily use Tomcat or Jetty (Since I am not using EJBs).
However I have no idea on how to develop (or a better word would be design) a website which is divided into different modules.
Usually when you develop a website, you have certain areas that are public, and other areas that are not. For example, a company would want anyone on the Internet to download information about the products they are selling, however they would only want their employees to download certain restricted information.
Personally I try to categorise this scenario in to common words; Extranet and Intranet.
But (and here starts the confusion in my mind) should I treat these two as two projects, or as one project? The content to be displayed on the Extranet is much different then the content to be displayed on the Intranet and definitely clients should not be allowed to the Intranet.
First approach would be to treat them as the same project. This would be perfect, since if the company (one day) decides to change the layout of the website, then the design would change for both the Intranet and the Extranet version. Also the system has a common login screen, that is I would only need to have employees to have a certain Role so that they have access to the intranet, while clients would not have a certain Role and thus they would not be allowed in. But what about performance and scalability? What if the Intranet and Extranet have to be deployed on the different Hardware!?
The second approach is to threat them as two separate projects. To keep the same layout you just copy & paste the layout from one project to another. However we would not want to have two different databases to store our users, one for the employees and the other one for the clients. Therefore we would build a CAS server for authentication purposes. Both the Intranet and the Extranet would use the same CAS server to login however they could be deployed on different hardware. However what if we want to change the design. Do we really want to have to just copy and paste elements from one project to another? We all know how these things finish! We do not have time for that just change the Extranet and leave the Intranet as it is!
The third approach (and this is the one I like most) is to have a single project built into different WAR files. The common elements would be placed in all WAR files. However in development you would only need to change once and the effects would show in the different war files. The problem with this approach is that the project will be very big. Also, you will still need to define configuration files for each one of them (2 Web.config, 2 Spring-Servlet.config, 2 acegi-security.config, etc).
Basically I would like something in the middle of approach 2 and approach 3! However I can identify what this approach is. Also I can not understand if there is even a better approach then these three! I always keep in mind that there can always be more then two modules (that is not only Intranet and Extranet).
Anyways, it is already too long this post. Any comments are more then welcome and appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sim085

    Hi to all,
First of all thanks for the interest shown and for the replies. I do know what MVC or Multi-layered design is and I develop all my websites in that way.
Basically I have read a lot of books about Domain-Driven Design. I divide my web applications into 4 layers. The first layer is the presentation layer. Then I have the Facade layer and after that I have a Service layer (Sometimes I join these two together if the web application is small enough). Finally I have the Data Access layer where lately I use Hibernate to persist my object in the database.
I do not have problems to understand how layering a web application works and why it is required. My problem is how to design and develop web applications with different concerns that use same resources. Let me give an example:
Imagine a Supermarket. The owner of the Supermarket want to sell products from the website, however he wants to also be able to insert new products from the website itself. This means that we have two different websites that make use of the same resources.
The first website is for the Supermarket clients. The clients can create an account. Then they can view products and order them. From the above description we can see that in our domain model we will have definitely an object Account and an object Product (I am not mentioning all of them). In the Data Access layer we will have repository objects that will be used to persist the Account and Products.
The second website is for the Supermarket employees. The employees still need to have an account. Also there is still a product object. This means that Account and Product objects are common to the two websites.
Also important to mention is the style (CSS). The Supermarket owner would like to have the same style for both websites.
Now I would not like to just copy & paste the objects and elements that are common to both websites into the two different projects since this would mean that I have to always repeat the changes I make in one website, inside the other one.
Having a single WAR file with both websites is not an option either because I would not like to have to deploy both websites on the same server because of performance and scalability issues.
Basically so far I have tought of putting the common elements in a Jar File which would be found on the two different servers. However I am not sure if this is the best approach.
As you can see my problem is not about layering. I know what layering is and agree with both of you on its importance.
My question is: What is the best approach to have the same resources available for different websites? This includes Class Files, CSS Files, JavaScript Files, etc.

  • Oracle C# and Web Applications

I need some web applications that access an oracle server (database) with odbc connection using C#.If anyone can help me or give me any suggestions on where to begin this I would so appreciate it. It has been a while since I have used Oracle. I have been using ASP.NET C# and Sql. Please email me if you have any answers or ideas.
my email is [email protected] or [email protected]
    With Much Appreciation .

    David,
For network encryption take a look at ASO/ANO (advanced networking/security option). With Aso/Ano you can encrypt your sql*net traffic. But I don't think you need to encrypt the traffic between your database and application servers. They are probably on a own network where only authorized (sysad's and dba's) can come. The use of ssl between your application server and browsers seems enough to me.
    kind regards,
    Ivan
We have an Oracle 9i database.
We develop web applications using Microsoft C# and
    ASP.Net.
The web servers talk to the database servers using
the Oracle Data Provider for .Net which I think uses
    the standard Oracle Client.
The problem is that the database calls appear on the
network in plain text form. So if someone were
sniffing the network, they might be able to see the
    queries and results.
    How do we prevent that?
I have read about the Obfuscator, but I don't want to
encrypt the data in each field in the database. That
is a huge amount of work. I want something that works
like SSL works between browser and web server, where
    the entire conversation is encrypted.
I have seen brief postings about SSL with Oracle and
that sounds like the thing, maybe. But I can't find
any documentation that makes it clear whether that is
really the solution to my problem, and if so, how to
configure it. The Oracle marketing literature seems
too brief and vague. Nor can I find details in the
    online manuals.
If someone can provide a business-level overview here
and point me to the online references for the
detailed "How To...", that would be great!
One more thing: Is my desire to encrypt traffic
between the application and database servers
    excessive?
We require all our web applications to use SSL to
prevent sniffers from seeing private data. It seems
only right that we require the same from our
    connections to the database server.
At least we use network switches rather than hubs, so
there is much less exposure to a sniffer.
    thanks

    2. If you provide functionallity from 1.how looks architecture solustion? Do I conect some global office server or should I have office365 app instantion on my server?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to integration office365 with web applications.
    For your task the
    file API
should be the right one. With it you can access and manipulate Office and OneDrive for Business documents.
