To Disable Airport Update, or to update to 7.6?

I currently am running firmware 7.4.2, which annoyingly sometimes wants to get updated to 7.6.  I'm assuming the Airport Utility has a setting to turn off this automatic notification.  What if anything am I missing by upgrading? The setup includes:
1. A Mac Mini 2010 with 10.6.8 and a Magicjack connected, as well as a Nyrius NAVS500 connected via the HDMI port which also broadcasts down 2.4 Ghz.
2. Two iPad 3Gs running iOS 4.3
3. MacBook Pro 15" Unibody 2009 running 10.6.3
4. MacBook Pro 3,1 running 10.7.1
5. iMac 5,1 running 10.7.1
6. AT&T Direct 6.0 answering machine phone using 5.8 Ghz. Any chance any of those might be messed up by upgrading the airport firmware? If I disable automatic airport from one airport utility, will it not show up on any other machine either?  Cause I have the problem when I'm aware from home that it pops up on my Mac Mini, and disables my Magicjack!
7. AppleTV 1 with latest updates.
8. AppleTV 2 with latest updates
This is all sharing a DHCP Cable connection on my Airport Extreme with a WPA2 network/

I'm assuming the Airport Utility has a setting to turn off this automatic notification.
You assume correctly. To do so, select your AirPort Extreme within the AirPort Utility, and then, click on Manual Setup. On the Summary panel, click on the amber circle on the Status line, and this should take you to the reason(s) for it being amber. You can then individually select to ignore any warnings.
Another option is to deselect the "Check for updates when opening AirPort Utility" and "Check for updates" options on the AirPort Utility > Preferences panel to disable the AirPort Utility to prompt you for any available updates.
What if anything am I missing by upgrading?
Great question. Typically you would "miss out" any any security or stablility updates ... but you also risk breaking something that already works. Not sure which firmware version updated the 802.11n from "draft" to "final," but you may consider doing the upgrade if this is important to you. The old adage of: If it ain't broke, don't fix, applies here. FWIW, I have had no issues updating the firmware to the currently latest (7.6) on any of my AirPorts (Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule). I don't have the exact equipment list as you, but we are pretty close.

  • How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex. This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.
    How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

If you do not like a feature like smart objects there is nothing forcing you to use it. Use some other features to do what you want. Please don't ask Adobe to introduce bug into smart object support.
You could work on your bump maps textures in external files. When your done some time in the future you could edit your project with the smart object layer and use replace smart object. Only then will all smart filters be applied to the smart layer with the replaced smart object.
Or if by CC Auto save Layer you referring to CC Generate feature you can disable that feature.
I have no idea what your referring to when you write "CC auto-saves the layer" being a feature. I know CC Generate will write layers out as web files but that more a Web feature then a 3d feature.  Where do you see your layer being saved?

  • Uninstall Airport extreme 2008-004 update and go back to previous version

    Hello
This morning I installed the airport extreme 2008-004 update. Since then, I have not been able to access the internet when my VPN (Check Point) is active. I can access the internet if I "stop" the VPN. I use a Netgear WNR834M router and I have not had problems between this router and the AirBook before. Even when I am unable to access the internet, it appears that I am connected to the wireless network. I have stopped and started modem, router, and Mac several times, to no avail.
I had a good deal of trouble with a VPN before, and rather than attempting to fix this, I would like to just uninstall the update and restore what I had before. Is there an easy way to do this?
    Thank you very much

    Warren,
If you haven't yet, try these suggestions. They have worked for others.
*_Slow & Dropped Internet Connection After Airport Update_*
The suggestions below have recently helped others after a System or Airport update. Consider each topic separately, If one does not resolve your issue, move on to the next one.
    *Reset/Change DNS Settings*
    Launch Airport Utility.
    Select Airport device on left.
    Click "Manual Setup".
Select "Internet" from the toolbar above.
What's listed for "DNS Server(s):"? Try putting in these servers from OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click "Update".
Next, on all Macs affected, launch System Prefs --> Network Prefs.
Select the service you usually connect with on the left (Airport or Ethernet).
    Then click, "Advanced...".
    Click the "DNS" tab.
What's listed for "DNS Server(s):"? Usually "10.0.1.1" will be listed first in gray. This refers back to the settings in the Airport Utility.
Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to add the DNS servers noted above here as well.
    Click "OK" then click "Apply".
    Finally, reboot your Mac.
Now see if you have internet access all around.
    *Reset Airport Service*
Launch System Preferences --> Network Preferences.
Highlight the Airport Service on the left.
Click the Action menu (tiny gear button) in the lower left.
    Select "Make Service Inactive".
    Then select "Make Service Active".
    Click "Apply".
    *Delete & Add Airport Service*
Launch System Preferences --> Network Preferences.
Highlight the Airport Service on the left.
Click the “-” button in the lower left to remove the Airport Service.
Next, click the “+” button and add an Airport Service.
    Click “Apply”.
Note: Removing the AirPort interface resets your preferred AirPort networks.  You will need to add preferred networks again.
    *Reset Network/Airport Settings*
    1. Go to Macintosh HD --> Library --> Preferences --> SystemConfiguration Folder
Drag the following files to the desktop:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    com.apple.network.identification.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    preferences.plist
    Restart your Mac.
    Go System Preferences --> Network.
From the “Location” menu select “Edit Locations”.
Click the “+” button and name it “Home” or “My Network”.
    Click “Done”.
Highlight “Airport” on the left, and verify that your network appears beside “Network Name”.
    Click “Apply”.
    Click “Advanced…”.
Click the “Airport” tab, and add your network to the “Preferred Networks”list.
Click “OK” and then click “Apply” once more.
Now see if your connectivity issues are resolved. Later you can Trash the .plist files you dragged to the Desktop.
    *Archive & Install*
As a last resort, an Archive & Install using your Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) installation DVD will usually resolve this issue. Then use Software Update to bring your system up to date. It appears that reapplying the recent updates in this condition, does not cause the problems to return.
Let us know if any of the above suggestions helped to resolve your connectivity issues.
    Cheers!

  • Acrobat X Pro: Check for Updates Error 1007 Updates have been disabled by your system policy

Because of another Acrobat problem (I won't go into here), today I uninstalled Acrobat Pro 10.1.9 and re-installed Acrobat 10.0.0. I thought I could get back to 10.1.9 by selecting "Check for Updates" after installation. My system is Win7x64 and I'm running as a named user with Administrator rights on a machine that is not part of domain.
When I select "Check for Updates", I receive a window titled "Adobe Acrobat Updater" that says "Update failed Updates have been disabled by your system policy. Error: 1007 <Close>" About ten seconds later, Acrobat X terminates, leaving this window hanging around.
What do I do to enable checking for updates?

Thanks Bill@VT and LeoAdobeX. It's still not working though.
Over the last few days, Windows System Restore says I have done 4 (four) Remove/Install Pairs. I tried the helpful cleaner you suggested. I knew I probably had some Acrobat9 cruft, so I ran the Acrobat9 and Reader9 cleaners, then the AcrobatX cleaner (I never had ReaderX). I also uninstalled absolutely every Adobe program from my system: Flash Player (three versions), iFilter, Adobe AIR, Amazon Music Importer (relies on Adobe AIR).
I tried it both as 10.0.0, and installing 10.0.0 and then the 10.1.9 MSP you pointed me to at the "update link" above. I installed as "Trial" mostly, but once with my registration key.
Starting up Acrobat X still fails epically. Also, every time I've looked, it hasn't solved the "other Acrobat problem" that initiated all of this.
The most that I've received from Acrobat X today is the splash screen came up once. Only once. Even after a restart of Windows 7, launching AcrobatX from the Start Menu, Desktop or even directly from the EXE under "Program Files (x86) does nothing. I thought it might just be slow the last time, so I took a 15 minute coffee break after attempting to launch. Nothing.
Ergo, I am looking at Windows System Restore. I miss two days of not being able to read PDF's even if the "other Acrobat problem" remains.
However, I got a whiff that I have another problem headed my way. I bought update version of Acrobat9 and AcrobatX. I've now wiped all traces of Acrobat9 (and will shortly do another wipe of AcrobatX). The Cleaner log reports "** Info : Installed product not found for upgrade code". The MyAdobe website has all my install codes back to Acrobat4, but I'm not sure I could locate my Adobe 4 CDROM or the intervening CDROM's that would be required to source me back to a full version (maybe Acrobat6?).
As I understand it, System Restore will do many things but not actually install the program files that I've been writing and deleting from my disk over the last two days. So, I'm going to have to do some install of AcrobatX after I do the System Restore and I now have little hope that even that installation will work to "just put things back the way they were".
Is AcrobatX supported on Windows7x64 Ultimate? Is there some place to track down what may be the "issues due to the 64-bit system"?
I have checked the policies under Control Panel->Administrator and there is more to check there. My account is a member of Administrators, which I would think would give me the rights to do just about anything, but when I click on the "Local Security Policy" shortcut, I get a "Group Policy Error: Failed to open the Group Policy Object on this computer. You may not have the appropriate rights. <Close> Details: Unspecified error". I'll chase this down if the System Restore does not make this error go away, but this part is clearly not a problem with Adobe software. All of the Other Admin/MMC Tools like Computer Management open fine.
Thank you very much for the responses. I found them to be very helpful but I still feel I've got a big problem ahead.

  • Why can't I download this update AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.6.4

I have version 6.3.1 for an Airport Extreme and I was not able to download this update AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.6.4 Why what is the problem ?
Running OS X .7.5 Lion on a Mac Pro 1,1 software update will not find it either.

    Hello,
Would you minds sharing what you did to be able to dowload the 7.6.4 firmware update?  Greatly appreciated.

  • HT4296 What does this mean "remains disabled by default in this update"? Does that mean I don't have Java any more because of this update?

What does this mean (referring to the Java update on the Mac OS X 10.5.8) "remains disabled by default in this update"? Does that mean I don't have Java any more because of this update?

You should still have JAVA.  Open Safari, then in the top Menu Bar, click on Safari and pull down to Preferences.
Safari> Preferences> Security> and click check the buttons next to Enable JAVA and Enable Javascript.
You might have to restart Safari, I'm not sure about that.
    Good luck.

  • Lion disables system info and software update in about this mac

hey guys I have problem with lion when I reboot lion,
it disables system info and software update in "about this mac"
actually it says "this button is disabled because there is no system profiler application" or  "this button is disabled because there is no software update application"
and also everytime when I reboot my computer it always changes default applicatons. for example
it changes from VLC player to quicktime,  from Archive utility to textEdit and so on.
each time i got to reinstall "Afloat application" if i want to use it.
for making them ok I just need to open software updater from system pref. and the button becomes visible again.
it is same with the system info. I gotto search system profiler via spotlight search and I run, button becomes visible again.
for the archieve utility i got to go to coreservices and open Archieve utility then automatically it becomes default app for .zip files again.

Did you just install Lion? If so, you might need to try to reinstall as something got messed up.
Alfoat uses SIMBL which will break at just about every update. The reason you may have to keep installing Afloat is because the Resume feature of Lion is not compatible with SIMBL. See here: http://roaringapps.com/app:383
SIMBL is a low-level system hack and may be causing your problems.

  • Disable tableview to perform TableCell.update selction

I am working on javafx2.2 tableview
My table has 100,000 entries (3 columns one int two float), and new rows are inserted every 20 ms,
I need it to have active sort capability which is achieved using binary search. But am getting very slow GUI.
Initially I thought it to be because of table.getItems.add(index,element)
But when I run Jprofiler it is showing major time is consumed in TableCell.updateSelection (javafx.scene.control.TableCell$2.onChanged).
Can anyone tell me is it useful to have it.... If yes then how....
And if I want it to be disabled then how to do it.
    Thank you

No, you cannot perform parallel dml with a trigger present.
If you are updating the bulk of the rows and can take an outage, you can
disable the trigger, perform the update, enable the trigger
    OR
copy to another table, performing the update in the select, rename the tables and add the trigger on the new table

  • Where I can find AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.7.3

Support and download pages on apple's portal are giving me run around. Does anyone knows where one can download the AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.7.3 ??

No magic, but I had a real weird situation that I have no way to explain. So when I wanted to upgrade using the airport utility which logically should pull 7.7.1 first and then later 7.7.3, neither would work. I restored to factory defaults in the mena time of this original posting, however pull down menu was not showing 7.7.1 rather it was still displaying 7.6.4, hence why I was so eager to get 7.7.3 binary and do manual upgrade. AS I found the code, before I went about manual process I went into my ~/Library/Applications Support/Apple/AirPort directory to check the version.xml file and voila it showed how I do have 7.7.1 running and installed way back , so then I proceeded the manual process I described above and it worked. You are correct definitely because 7.7.1 was already there, but to for me unknown reason it is not showing on the Airport Extreme and in the drop meny I explained/described, however definitely there and clearly reason I was able to do manual upgrade. In the light of my question and wasted exchanges with the previous poster I didn't describe this part because it was irrelevant  as I was only asking how I can get the code. If I had time to deal with the bigger issue here I would ask Apple, ok why my utility was not pulling 7.7.1 or 7.7.3 and why I had to do all of this to finish simple process that should in reality happen in matter of minutes (I do not have check auto weekly for the code not do I like or trust that feature i.e. don't like auto upgrades...I like to see upgrades done, ppl use it, not report issues and then I do my upgrades). Hope this clarifies it further.
Editing /augmenting my response with a comment - I was even contemplating to complain to apple and reseller I got my device year + ago to possibly replace the unit, but now that it all worked out I am happy.

  • My ipod touch keeps telling me that my apple ID has been disabled whenever I try to update or buy new apps. I've already changed my apple ID password to try to change this, but I'm still receiving this message. How do i re-enable my apple ID?

My ipod keeps telling me that my apple ID has been disabled whenever I try to update or buy new apps. I've already changes my password to see if that would fix the problem, but the message is still popping up about my apple ID being disabled. How do I fix this?

    Hi Inparker,
When you say you changed your password, did you change it on Manage My AppleID? If so, once you did that, did you sign out of the iTunes & App Store on your iPod Touch? If you did not, then you need to do that, then sign back in with your new password.

  • Translucent Menu Bar still can't be disabled after 10.5.2 update

I was please that an option to turn off the translucent menu bar was included in the recent update. After updating my MacBook Pro I was able to uncheck the 'Translucent Menu Bar' option under 'Desktop & Screensaver'.
After updating my Mac Pro desktop to 10.5.2, this option is NOT available and my menu bar remains translucent. Is there really no way to turn off translucency on the Mac Pro?

Pleased to see I'm not alone. The option to disable the translucent menu bar isn't available on my G4 iBook either. Everything is working well after the latest updates. I like my translucent menu bar so no worries.
No hacks, no changes, just not available.

  • Why does it say Apple ID disabled when I try to update an app

Why does it say my Apple ID is disabled when I try to update an app.? My ID works for everything else. Also, I thought with the new iOS update that apps are supposed to update themselves but mine haven't.

On your Mac/PC open iTunes (make sure it is updated). On the tabs on the left click on "iTunes Store". This will change the window on the right to the iTunes store. The top right corner should have your Apple ID or Sign In written. If there is an Apple ID written click on it and Sign Out. The corner should then change to "Sign In".
Now click on Sign In and sign in with the wrong/incorrect Apple ID that you no longer wish to use or update from.
Once logged in, click on the down arrow that shows when you move the pointer on the top right corner where it should now show the apple id, and select Account.
The page that opens up should have a section called "iTunes in the Cloud" with a tab on the side saying "Manage Devices".
Click on Manage Devices. Its should list your iPhone or iPad that you no longer wish to use with this Apple ID. And click Remove.
Once its confirmed click "Done" and from the top right corner select Sign Out.

  • How can I disable notification for new install update for adobe??

How can I disable notification for new install update for adobe (adobe reader, flash player, etc.)
Is there way from SCCM2012 or group policy or any easy way?????
    Please help me

If you mean the built-in functionality of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash, it's different mechanism for both.
For the reader, check this guide for example:
    http://www.adminarsenal.com/admin-arsenal-blog/bid/84409/Adobe-Customization-Wizard-XI-Tutorial
For flash, check this guide for example:
    http://jthys.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/disable-automatic-updates-for-adobe-flash-shockwave-player-reader/
After you've studied the above guides, you need to implement those to be used with ConfigMgr application deployment so that when you deploy Reader/Flash, you get the result you want = no automatic update functionality.

  • Wireless connections drops after AirPort Extreme 2007-001 Update

Hello, I am getting a lot of wireless connection drops since I installed the AirPort Extreme 2007-001 Update. Anyone has similar issue? Any fix?

Well, I was conneting to the University's wireless server (which is maintained and huge) flawlessly prior to the update. My friend has a macbook pro and didn't apply the update and he has no problem. I installed the update and since then I'm having a hard time connecting to ANY wireless server/router.
I came across the following, looks like a lot of other persons are having the same issue:

    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070126190822382
Looks like my solution would be to perform an Archive & Install and to not reinstall the AE 2007-001 update.

  • Cannot install Airport Utility 5.6 update.

Cannot install Airport Utility 5.6 update.
Trying to install my Airport extreme.  Macbook is running OSX lion 10.7.5  (Does anyone know why or have had a similar problem) ? Please Help

AirPort Utility for Lion is for OS X version 10.7.2 only. It won't install on 10.7.5. It won't work for the newest 802.11ac AirPort Extreme either, so if you have one of them use the newest version of AirPort Utility.
You can use the following workaround to install AirPort Utility 5.6 on a Lion or Mountain Lion Mac:
Be sure to read the caveats at the end.
Lion / Mountain Lion's package installer will refuse to install superseded versions of AirPort Utility. Instead you will need to use a package extractor such as Pacifist or unpkg. Pacifist is shareware, unpkg is free.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Download unpkg here: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
When the AirPort Utility .dmg file finishes downloading, open it to expand and reveal the AirPortUtility56.pkg package installer file.
Directions for Pacifist (I do not have screenshots for unpkg but the idea is similar):
Open Pacifist and from its File menu, navigate to the package and open it.
Click the "reveal triangles" until you see AirPort Utility 5.6.app:
Select it and then click Install from Pacifist's toolbar. It will then be installed in your Utilities folder, and you can quit Pacifist.
The most recent version of AirPort Utility included with OS X should be used to configure 802.11n - capable AirPort Base Stations. Make no attempt to delete it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist. Use the older version only as necessary for older AirPort Base Stations that cannot be administered any other way.
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Lion / Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder instead of resorting to the above procedure. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
Keep in mind that Apple's decision to abandon support for the original AirPort Express and AEBS was for reasons known only to them. Remember that you are using obsolete equipment, should some future OS X feature not work for you.
