To next label in a flash movie
Hi,
Is it possible to add a button in a flash movie that will
take you to next label - independent of label name?
Thanks Jonas
No .. not unless you keep your own array of label names and
corresponding
frame numbers, and look up for yourself where you want to go
to based on the
current frame number.

Embedding flash movie in a web page
I have created a flash movie using actionscript 3 and an xml file with a list of images for a slideshow. After clicking publish, I can view the slideshow by previewing the html file it creates for you. However, I want to embed this flash movie in a different web page. When I try to add it in Dreamweaver, by dragging and dropping the swf file into the page, a flash placeholder is generated, but the movie does not play when previewed. It is just blank white space.
Now I watched the Tom Green tutorials on "flash the easy way" and my flash (CS4 professional) did NOT generate the AC_RunActiveContent.js files. I did find and download the file and manually added it to my Scripts folder. Still no joy.
I will note that the html file that embeds the flash video is in a different directory than the movie itself. Surely this cannot be the issue, otherwise people's websites would be incredibly messy with multiple flash videos. I am trying to put all the flash movies in their own child directories of a /flash directory to keep them neat and organized.
I am not sure what to do next. How do you make the dang thing play on a web page that is in another directory?If you are loading content ala using an xml file, that may be the source of the problem. When you load a Flash file into a web page, that web page becomes the frame of reference for any files that the swf loads. So if you tested this where the html file was in the same folder, but then moved things into different folders, then you need to adjust the Flash to load things as if it is in the html file's folder

How do I change a name of a button in a Flash movie?
Hello everybody,
I'm newbie with Flash and I have a problem.
I have a flash movie, which I want to use as a header for a website. When I play the movie, I have 5 different buttons on it. When I open through Flash the .fla file it shows me that there is one button copied 5 times.
How do I change the name in one of the buttons in the movie, I want when I play the movie, to have a different name on the button, but I don't understand from where do I change the name, if all the buttons I have in the .fla file has the About me name, I suggest the name is the same because all the buttons does the same effect when you go over them.
I would appreciate some help!I'm assuming you mean you want to change the label that displays on the button when you run the file. Flash allows for a variety of ways to approach a design, so there is no ready-made answer. If all of the buttons appear to be the same in the fla file, then chances are they are getting their labels from actionscript code.
What you probably need to do is look thru the actionscript code that might be in the first frame or so of the timeline. You can identify frames containing actionscript because they what appears to be a lower case "a" in them. If you click on such a frame and open the Actions window, you will see the actionscript code. Look for any code that has the button labels you see when you run the file.
You might also have some other file(s) that came with the fla, such as an .as file or a .xml file. If so, you may need to look in these files also. -
To write russian characters in a flash movie

I often insert .swf files in my html pages however, lately I
have been trying to insert flash movies in the middle of a bunch of
text. I do something similar with and then, using the property
inspector's align dialog box, I either set the image to be on the
right, the left, or one of the other options. By doing that, the
image looks the way I want it to with the text wrapping around it.
I see that the same type of options appear in the property
inspector when I insert a .swf file but I don't get the desired
result as I do with images. The only way I can fake the look I want
is by putting the flash movie in it's own cell in a table and
breaking up the text above,below or next to the movie the best way
that I can but this is not reliable and I sometimes end up with too
much white space. Is there a parameter I need to set or a style to
add to the swf object? I'd appreciate any suggestions.Thank
you.This file is not on the server -

White boundary line around flash movie
Hi,
When I use a flash movie on an HTML page it all looks good in
Mozilla Firefox. In IE on the other hand, it sucks, because when
you move your move over the flash movie you see a white boundaty
box. Which makes it all look very silly.
How do I get rid of that?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

Controlling flash movie from another
hello
i hope someone can help me.
i have 2 flash movies in a page with a CMS and an iframe.
so quite a complicated structure...
QUESTION1:
is it possible to control one of them from the other one?
e.g. telling movie B to go to a label from a button in movie
A?
QUESTION 2
is it possible to controll either a target movie is already
loaded in the page or not?
suppose i need to check from movie A is movie B is already
loaded in the page
, load it in case it is not loaded, then tell ti to go to a
certain label?
any help would be greatly appreciated.Will require some fancy javascript gyrations. Check out

On the development version of a site, I have created a flash
movie that uses an XML file that refers to the filenames of images
and their respective captions that are then loaded into the flash
movie.
The images are loaded 2 at a time, into movie containers
within the movie, and then the movies containing the images cycle
through the images one at a time, one movie container fading out
revealing the next image below it, etc. etc.
Basically, I have used this on the site for many photo
galleries. Each one uses the same flash file (in its own folder on
the server, with its respective "images" subdirectory) coupled with
an XML file (all in the same folder on the server) that tells the
flash file where the images are, and in what order, and their
related captions.
There are 9 photo galleries, therefore 9 folders on the
server, each with their own flash and XML and JPEG image files. For
3 specific galleries, the flash file does not load images on some
computers using IE. On the same computers, all other galleries work
fine.
Can anyone even guess what could be causing this??
Many thanks in advance,

The <object> and/or <embed> HTML elements that
reference your Flash content accept a number of optional
parameters. For the <object> element, these parameters are
supplied via nested <param> elements. Simply add the
following new <param>:
<param name="wmode" value="opaque">
The <embed> parameters are supplied via attributes. For
the <embed> element, add the following new attribute:
wmode="opaque"
That’s it. Your Flash content is now stackable via
z-index; for example, you may wrap your
<object>/<embed> pair in a <div> and set the
<div>’s z-index as you please.
<div style="position: absolute; z-index=1;">
<object attributes >
<embed attributes />
</object>
</div>
If you’re using Dreamweaver, just press the Parameters
button in the Insert > Media > Flash dialog or in the
Property inspector when selecting existing Flash content. Type
“wmode” (without quotes) in the name/parameter column
and “opaque” (without quotes) in the value column. That
will handle the above HTML for you, even with the new JavaScript
embedding available since the 8.0.2 update. -

Flash movie has border on rollover and 'disabled'
Hi,
I have a html page with a flash movie in it.
When the page loads, the movie displays, but when moused over
a dotted border (others note an orange border) appears around the
movie. As a result the user has to click on the movie to remove the
border, before any of the buttons within the movie work. This isn't
just present on my page, but all flash movies I find on the
internet.
Is this something to do with Windows XP ? I have only noticed
it since using XP ?
Is there anything I can do to eliminate it ?

How to play Previous Label and Next Label?
How can I tell flash to play a previous or next label with
simple scripting?
...are there any predefined playprevLabel or playnextLabel
functionality in the program that can be called simply ?
I heard of putting the label names into an array but it seems
too convoluted. thanks, AttilaWhy not name the labels incrementally, then merely add or
subtract from the value of your label variable, and use a standard
goto?

Postage stamp effect from the Show Me flash movie on Elements home page
The Elements home page on adobe.com has a little flash movie labeled Show Me that demos some of the nifty new features of version 4.0. In the Enhance section of this movie, right after the liquify/stained glass demo, the picture is cropped using a postage stamp effect. The demo seems to indicate that the selection and cropping are done at the same time, with whatever tool was used. I found a post about using the Custom Shape Tool's Objects.Stamp1/2 shape to create a postage stamp effect, but this demo shows it to be much simpler.
Any ideas on which tool was used in this demo movie?
Thanks!
GaryFrom the video it looks like they are using the postage stamp custom shape as the base of a clipping group (the family group photo is on a layer above a blank layer and is grouped with it -- when the lower layer filled with a black postage stamp custom shape the portions of the grouped layer that intersect the shape become visible). I don't have PSE4, so I can't say what they are doing for sure.
