Too many responses (!)

I recently posted two questions in the forum, later I received over 100 replies (about 105 I think) in my e-mail, most of which were not related to my question. I don't know if I did something wrong, checked something I shouldn't have or what - I am certain you didn't mean to send me e-mail for anything other than responses to my own questions. Please advise.

Why do I detect anger in your reply?<<</div>
Maybe because you're being too sensitive? I didn't detect any anger at all ... and trust me, Uncle Grump DOES know how to convey anger.
Maybe a good start would be if someone would directo me to the forum administrator, or the website administrator.<<</div>

    I installed 2.3 upgrade,
installer folder is in  harddrive but application will not open or replace 2.0 as it says it "should". When I attempt to it just reinstalls the installer, never the functioning application.  I have tried too many times now. Always same response. WOuld love to upgrade ( and purge all the alias 2.3 off hardrive!

when I went to the library folder there was no receipts only
    com.adobe.Reader whihc included install.log
so I guess that means something is missing?
If above still doesn't resolve problem - go to the folder named
"Receipts" in the Mac OS X Library folder (i.e. the main Library
not you Users Library) and delete the file named Adobe Photoshop
    Lightroom 2.pkg

  • Too many open socket connections causing ColdFusion to crash?

I’m currently working on an e-commerce site which sends and receives information to/from the client’s order management system via XML over a TCP/IP socket.  It uses a very old java-based custom tag called CFX_JSOCKET (which appears to have been written in 2002) to open the socket, send the data, and get the response.  The code that calls the custom tag and sends/receives data from the OMS pre-dates my working on the site, but its always worked, so I haven’t paid it much attention.
Back in the summer of 2009 we started experiencing issues with ColdFusion (v.7 on Window 2003 at the time) locking up on a more and more frequent basis, until it ultimately became a daily issue.  After extensive research we narrowed the issue down to the communication between the web server and our client’s order management server.  It seemed the issue with ColdFusion hanging was either related to there being too many connections open, or to these connections hanging and resulting in dead threads.  This an educated guess based on a blog post I’d seen online, not actual monitoring of either CF or the TCP/IP connections.  As soon as we dialed back the timeout on the CFX_JSOCKET tag from 20 seconds to 10, the issue disappeared, so we left it at that and moved on.
Fast forward to this January. The site is hosted at a new location, on a 64-bit Windows 2008 box running ColdFusion 9.  Over the years traffic on the site has continued to grow.  The nature of the clients business means that August and January are their business times of the year (back to school for college kids) and in January ColdFusion once again started locking up on an almost-daily basis.
One significant difference is that the address cleansing software that previously ran on the box and was used to verify shipping addresses is not available for 64-bit, so when we moved to the new server last summer, that task was moved to the client’s order management software and handled via XML like all other interaction with that system. However, while most XML calls to that server (order input, inventory check, etc) take under a second to complete, the address cleansing call regularly takes over 5 seconds to return data, and frequently times out.
Once we eliminated the address cleansing call from the checkout process, ColdFusion once again stopped locking up regularly.  So it appears that once again it’s the communication between the web server and the order management server that’s causing problems. We currently have that address cleansing call disabled on the web site in order to keep ColdFusion from crashing, but that’s not a long term solution.
We don’t have, nor can I find online, the source code for the CFX_JSOCKET custom tag, so I decided I’d write some CF code utilizing the java methods to open the socket, send the data, get the response, and close the connection.  My test code is working fine (under no load).  However, in trying to troubleshoot an issue I had with it, I started monitoring the TCP/IP connections using TCPView.  And I noticed that all the connections to the order management server, whether opened via the custom tag or my new code, remain open in either a TIME_WAIT or FIN_WAIT2 status for well over 2 minutes, even though I know for a fact that my new code is definitely closing the connection from the web server side.
They do all close eventually, but I’m wondering 1. Why they’re remaining open that long; 2. Is that normal; and 3. If all these connections remaining open could be what’s causing ColdFusion to choke.
Does this sound plausible?  If so, does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations about how to fix it?  My research seems to indicate this might be a matter of the order management system not closing the connection on its end, but I’m in way over my head, and before I go to client and tell them it’s their OMS causing the issue, I need to feel a little more confident that I’m on the right track.
Any help or advice would be very greatly appreciated.  And thanks for taking the time to read through my long-winded explanation of the problem.
    Set-up details:

    Hi Laurie,
Not aware of custom tag called CFX_JSOCKET. I guess the process you described very well is consuming a resource then you are getting a problem. Trick is what parameter to adjust. Perhaps you are running out of one the threads in CFadmin > Server Settings > Request Tuning.
I expect if you enable CF Metrics logging where you can log the threads and other resources then you can find out which parameter needs adjusting. Let me know if you want some details on enabling CF Metrics. Perhaps others will have much better idea than me and help without the overhead of logging.
The other interesting thing is you are using CF9.0.0. Do you have some reasons for not being on updater1 CF9.0.1?
    HTH, Carl.
PS I posted before however seems to have gone, just hope does not come back and then I have posted twice.

  • My phone every night keeps playing songs and stops by itself and Siri also keeps coming on without me even touching it everytime I watch a video. I don't know if my phone is hunted or because I just dropped it too many times. What should I do?

So everytime I watch a movie or listen to music when I use my earphones. A song keeps playing by itself and Siri activates by itself without me even touching it. So I deactivated Siri. And now it's the voice control that keeps coming on.  I don't know if my phone is haunted, or there's something wrong with my earphones/earphone socket/jack (or whatever you call where you put it in the earphones), or is it just because I dropped my phone too many times. And I don't want to reset my phone if that's what I have to do. By the way I have an iPhone 4s

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
If there are specific tasks you need help with:

    Is a good resource.

  • I take a lot of people shots and have way too many out of focus pics.

I have way too many out of focus shots.  I usually use tv mode with the shutter set at least 250 with the anti shake on.  I know there is a balance of aperature, iso and they seem to be close enough for lighting but the out of focus drives me nuts. This is the most important aspect of a pic in my opinion. I have sent my T2i in for focus issues two times and cannot tell a difference.  Any suggestions????
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

We'd probably have to see your shots with EXIF data to provide a specific response.
Canon did a 3-part video on how the AF system works with B&H Photo.  You can find the videos on YouTube... here's the link to part I:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAx86nblZ2g
I seem to recall each part is about 30 minutes, but well worth the time in what you'll learn about the focus system that you might not have known.
A LOT of factors can result in out of focus images.  Camera movement (slow shutter speed during a hand-held shot) is just one of many possibilities.

  • [database design]  the "too many" number of users of one instance!!

    Good morning everyone!!
I have a question about the number of users of one db
instance, "possible problems" caused by too many users,
and "pros and cons" of this case.
Now, the company I work for is considering centralizing
    150 db servers of 150 sites. 150 chained-stores have
    their own db instance.
Here is the structure of db instance after the
    centralization.
    1. Centralized instance has each user per site(150
    sites), for example, site001, site002, …site00n, …
    site150
    2. Each user has its own 250 tables, thus the db
instance become to have 150 users and 150*250 tables.
    3. Each user has almost the same table schema, not
exactly. There are a little bit of differences among
the business rules of each sites.
    4. the version of centralized db instance is "oracle9i".
Theoretically, it seems like there is no problem, but I
have not experienced the db instance like this, which
has "too many" users of 150 users.
In terms of every aspect such as "performance/tuning",
"system management", or "something else", I would like
to hear what could be "the pros and cons" of this
    structure.
Assuming that there are possible critical problems caused
by too many users, what could be the alternative choice?
I will be waiting to hear your experience. Every response
will be appreciated, even if it is not about what I asked.
Thanks for your interest in advance.
    Have a nice day.

  • DB need too many locks in single threaded application

    Hello,
I`m new to BDB, and search for help of gurus.
I try to create database importing data from csv files. Import procedure is already written and works fine, but sometimes it starts to need too many locks.
Import process read csv file line by line. Check if key is already in the database, if yes it updates data, otherwise create new record. Import procedure is using DBEnv and transaction.
Please, look at 2 cases of data to import.
Case 1: Data in csv files are like:
    key1, some_data_1
    key1, some_data_2
    key2, some_data_3
    key2, some_data_4
    keyN, some_data_2N-1
    keyN, some_data_2N
(key became a key and data became the value in the database)
Case 2: Remove each second line in the csv file, so it became:
    key1, some_data_1
    key2, some_data_3
    keyN, some_data_2N-1
In this case for successful import of the file more locks are needed then in case 1.
This seems very odd to me. Could somebody explain why lock system behave so? Looking forward to hearing any response.
    Thanks.
p.s.: maybe my explanation is not very clear, but i don't know which other details are really important. I could provide more details if it could help.

    There is nothing wrong.
Oracle by default locks records. In case 1, you insert a record (1 row level lock) and update that same record. Why is a mystery, but the update doesn't require a lock (by you) as you already did lock the record.
In case 2, you have distinct keys for each line, so each line results in a row level lock as expected.
There are as much record locks as you request it to make.
You could consider locking the table explicitly once, prior to the transaction, by a lock table statement.
However, your approach is fundamentally flawed an non-scalable, as it processes each line individually instead of loading the data in a staging table and transferring it to the production table using
    insert into production table
    select * from staging table
where key not in (select key from product table)

  • Internal Email recipient Status: 400 4.4.7 Message delayed, too many concurrent deliveries of this message at this time

    Hi All,
I've read the other threads on this but not found one exactly like it. We are running Exchange 2010 SP3 Update 1. We recently sent out an internal email to a distribution that had a couple of dynamic DL's in it and a few regular DL's.
A lot of people got the initial email and others didn't until the following day. There was around 3000 or so users in that group. When investigating it with the message tracking log, a lot of users had "400 4.4.7 Message delayed, too many concurrent
deliveries of this message at this time" for the status.
Could this be to do with message throttling? I can find very little information on this on the Internet.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

    This is not throttling.
How many HT servers do you have? What is the name of queue they all are residing?

    Thanks for your response Gulab,
I have two HT servers and I'm not sure what queue they were residing in as they eventually all went through. Is there any way I can tell this with the message tracking logs?
    Thanks again,

71 - Too many levels of remote in path."
I have uninstalled DAVE and used Clean App to remove trace elements of program, however I still get the message and am unable to eliminate the error messages.  When I click OK the message goes away briefly and then comes back up.
    Any solutions would be great.

    Dave,
Thanks....What I did was load the free eval version of Dave 9.0 and then used the uninstaller which must have deleted the kernel giving me the problem.
    Thanks for the response.

    Hi GuYumming,
I have checked the Sharepoint site using Fiddler and my X-SharePointHealthScore stays consistently on 1, I have even refreshed the site and had the "(429) Too Many Requests" error happen right in front of me whilst Fiddler is running and when I look at the
200 response for the Sharepoint site it is still showing "X-SharePointHealthScore: 1".
I assume because of this I do not need to make any of the changes suggested in your article above?
I have also been through the ULS logs and found the following 3 log entries that appear to relate to the issue but they do not really mean much to me so I am hoping that you can help:

  • Too many simultaneous persistent searches

The Access Manager (2005Q1) in our deployment talks to load-balanced Directory Server instances and as recommended by Sun we have set the value of the property com.sun.am.event.connection.idle.timeout to a value lower than load-balancer timeout.
However on enabling this property, we see the following error messages in the debug log file amEventService:
WARNING: EventService.processResponse() - Received a NULL Response. Attempting to re-start persistent searches
    EventService.processResponse() - received DS message => [LDAPMessage] 85687 SearchResult {resultCode=51, errorMessage=too many simultaneous persistent searches}
netscape.ldap.LDAPException: Error result (51); too many simultaneous persistent searches; LDAP server is busy
Any idea - why this occurs?
Do we need to modify the value associated with the attribute nsslapd-maxpsearch ?
How many Persistent searches does Access Manager fire on the Directory Server ? Can this be controlled ?
    TIA,
    Chetan

I am having an issue where the Access Manager does not seem to fire any persistent searches at all to the DS.
We have disabled properties which try to disable certain types of persistent searches and hence in reality there should be lots of persistent searches being fired to the DS.
Also, there does seem to be some communication between the DS and the Access Manager instance. ....as the AM instance we work on talks only to a particular DS instance. But they do not seem to find any persistent searches being fired from our side at all....the only time they did see some persistent searches was when I did a persistent search from the command line.
    What could be the issue??
    thanks

  • HTTP-400 Too many arguments passed error

I am getting the following error when using a multiselect list item to select/update data in the tabular form.
    Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
mod_plsql: /pls/otn/wwv_flow.accept HTTP-400 Too many arguments passed in. Got 2346 parameters. Upper limit is 2000
    Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.2.3.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server Server at apex.oracle.com Port 80
I have built this prototype application on the Oracle’s hosted apex.oracle.com site.
The application page has three sections. Section 1 is an HTML region with the multiselect list. Section 2 is an HTML region with 20 text items. Section 3 has the tabular form with 25 columns that are used to update the data. The tabular form pagination values “Number of Row” and “Maximum Row Count” are set to 500.
Up until now, the multiselect list in the Section 1 was just a simple select list and I never had any issues. I guess the number of arguments passed was low. Per our customer requirement, I had to change the simple select list to a multiselect list. Now, If I select multiple values in the select list, I get the above mentioned error. But, it does not seem to happen all the time. For example, the first time I select 3 values in the multiselect list, the page renders fine, and I am able to enter/save data in the tabular form. Then, I select two other values in the multiselect list, I would get the error.
I am getting this error on the Oracle’s hosted apex.oracle.com site where my prototype application exists. And, according to the error oracle is using 10g/10.1.2.3.0. Is there any way to circumvent this issue so I can demo my application to the customer using the multiselect list?
I found several threads on this forum regarding the same error and it seems that there was a bug in the older versions of Oracle Application server. Also, there were discussions about setting the PlsqlMaxParameters.
Our dev/test/prod environment would be set up using the Oracle Application Server-10g/10.1.3. The question is would we need to add a line to set the PlsqlMaxParameters value in the plsql.conf file? In addition, what is the maximum value that it can be set to?
Please forgive me for the longwinded description and the question - only way I could describe the situation.
    Thanks,
    DP

    Varad and Sc0tt,
Thank you both for your responses.
Varad – Yes, I can/will reduce the amount of data so it does not cause the tabular form to go over the 2000 field limit. If that is not possible, I will at least make the users aware of this issue. Since the same data is used for the other pages in the application, the users might want to keep all the data.
Sc0tt – thanks for providing the information for your environment and settings. To plan for the future, we will have to set the value to something high also, around 8-10K range, and adjust later if we have to.
Thank you both, I will mark both of your answers as helpful and the question as being answered.

  • Aggravations with Too Many Activations

Okay... here's the story (I'll try and keep it short... but no promises).
    In 2000 I opened account # 1 with Adobe.
In 2004 I must have forgotten about my previous account so I opened a second under a different email address.
I had purchased some ebooks last year, and again this year in March using ADE to read them. I believe it was under account # 2, but it could have been under # 1. The computer was already activated when I imported the latest book.
I had to reinstall Windows for the usual Windows issues. But when I tried reading my ebooks, I kept getting error messages that the book was activated under another user, or that I should redownload the book (which is not an option). Neither account is working with the ebooks. And of course I ran out of activations on both accounts.
Case # 0202264241: General request for help with a summary. Opened 07-14-2009. No response yet.
Case # 0181091688: A request to reset activations on account # 1. Opened 08-02-2009. Case withdrawn by Adobe Support on 08-05-2009.
Response: "I understand that you are receiving the message about 'too many activations' We do not provide support for this service through this channel." The message then proceeded to instruct me to open a case through the same support web portal I had used to open the case that they were reading. Also the instructions they gave to open the new case were incorrect. However, there was a phone number on the bottom of the message. After 30 minutes and repeated requests to provide my serial number (?) for Digital Editions, I was told that voice support was not provided for free software, and I should open a case on the support web portal.
Case # 0181091742: A request to reset activations on account #2. Opened 08-02-2009. Case withdrawn by Adobe Support on 08-05-2009.
Response: "Unfortunately we are unable to assist with technical support issues beyond installation for Adobe Digital Editions via web support, and
there is no phone support at all for Adobe Digital Editions. For support information for Adobe Digital Editions please refer to the Adobe Flash Player Support Center, available at the URL below:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_digital_editions"
So here I am at the... um... Adobe Flash Player Support Center?
I've noticed that there are several Adobe staff who read these forums, and they appear to be very helpful and responsive. If any of you are reading this, please help!!!! If I get directed to the support portal again I'm going to have a nervous breakdown!
    Thank you,
    David

  • ORA-02020 too many database links

    Hello,
I'm getting the ORA-02020 too many database links error in my Apex application. This error occurs when I run an interactive report in a page. There are 21 pages and 7 database links in the application. Each page has one interactive report that references one database link in the region source.
The database links are referenced in each page as follows: database link1 (page 1); database link2 (pages 2 and 3); database link3 (pages 4-7), database link4 (pages 8-15); database link5 (pages 16-18); database link6 (pages 19); and database link7 (pages 20-21). Each database link is referenced to separate schemas in one remote Oracle database.
I tried to eliminate the error by setting the open_links and open_links_per_instance parameters in the init.ora file of the remote and XE databases to 100 then restarted the both databases. This solution did not work. I created separate Application Processes from the Shared Components to close each database link by implementing the following:
    Click on Shared Components&gt; Logic &gt; Application Processes &gt; Create &gt;
    Name: CLOSE_LINK1
    Sequence: 1
Point: On Load: Before Header (page template header)
    Type: PL/SQL Anonymous Block
    Process Text: execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
    Error Message: Database Link Error
When I run the application now, the ORA-02081: database link is not open error appears.
Please help anyone! I know someone has experienced these same errors.
    Thanks,
    Ms. H

    Joel,
Thank you for your quick response. For clarification purposes, could you provide samples for 1) issuing the CLOSE DATABASE LINK and catching the exception; and 2) querying from V$DBLINK prior to issuing the CLOSE DATABASE LINK from the Shared Components &gt; Logic &gt; Application Processes?
Lets assume the following query with a database link in the region source is referenced for Page 1.
    Page 1 - Employee Listing
    Region Source:
    select ename, job, hiredate
    from scott.emp@link1
Lets assume the following Application Processes from the Shared Components is referenced to close the database link:
    Click on Shared Components&gt; Logic &gt; Application Processes &gt; Create &gt;
    Name: CLOSE_LINK1
    Sequence: 1
Point: On Load: Before Header (page template header)
    Type: PL/SQL Anonymous Block
    Process Text: execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
    Error Message: Database Link Error
My thoughts are to do the following:
    1. Log in SQL*Plus as SYS
    SQL&gt; grant select to v_$dblink to scott;
    2. In Apex, goto Shared Components&gt; Logic &gt; Application Processes and add the following queries in the Process Text:
    Name: CLOSE_LINK1
    Sequence: 1
    Process Text:
    select db_link from v$dblink;
    execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
    3. Catch the exception???
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated. :8}
