You must be signed into the Apple Store with your Apple ID or it won't work.

How to deal with a 100 Store Error:
Try here >  Mac App Store: "An unknown error occurred (100)" when purchasing
If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here;
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Now here:
~/Library/Preferences/
Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
com.apple.appstore.plist
com.apple.storeagent.pllist
Now here:
~/Library/Cookies
Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store.

  • My iPad Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps Stopped Syncing with iCloud Drive

My iPad Air (iOS 8.0.2) is synced with my iCloud Drive, and all of its apps (Notes, Contacts, Calendar, etc.) sync perfectly with iCloud Drive... except for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
When I open Pages, Numbers, or Keynote on my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2), my Mac (Yosemite beta), or my iCloud.com page, all files are there and all apps sync perfectly with one another. It's just Pages, Numbers, and Keynote on my iPad that refuses to sync. When I open my iPhone Pages app, I even see the text "Updating" at the top of the screen. But not on my iPad version.
I even factory restored my iPad and started all over again. And for a moment, the Pages app got something. A few docs and one folder appeared. But then it stopped again. And I haven't been able to repeat the process.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello lippyloggy,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iCloud Drive:
    Using iWork with iCloud Drive
    Options for iWork customers
    1. Upgrade to iCloud Drive later this year when OS X Yosemite is available.
Choose this option if you’d like your documents to keep up to date with your apps on OS X Mavericks or earlier. Note that until you upgrade your iCloud account to iCloud Drive, you won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com or the Share via iCloud feature.
If you don’t upgrade to iCloud Drive at this time:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8 and across devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You won’t be able to use the Share via iCloud feature.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud won’t be accessible to collaborators until you upgrade to iCloud Drive.
    2. Upgrade to iCloud Drive today.
Choose this option if you’d like to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com and the Share via iCloud feature. To access the most recent versions of your documents from a Mac with OS X Mavericks or earlier, you’ll need to go to iCloud.com and access Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from there. On a PC, you can install iCloud for Windows 4.0and set up iCloud Drive. If you upgrade to iCloud Drive now:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8, Macs with OS X Yosemite, PCs with iCloud for Windows 4.0, and iCloud.com. (OS X Yosemite will be available this fall.)
Your documents will no longer keep up to date on devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You’ll be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You’ll be able to use the Share via iCloud feature on iOS 8 and iCloud.com. You’ll be able to use it on OS X Yosemite later this year.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud will be accessible to collaborators.

  • How to install Pages, Numbers and Keynote again in iPhone ?

    Hi,
I bought an iPhone 6 plus and it comes with pages, numbers and keynote with it.
2 days ago those I accidentally deleted those apps
Now when I wanted to download the Apps again it says $9.99
Given that in my Apple ID I haven't bought those apps.
But I bought the iPhone that comes with those apps
So I thought I should be able to re download it
Is there a way to restore those apps without purchasing them?

Did you ever back up our phone to your computer? if yes, those app should be part of the iTunes library. Sync them again to your device.
You could also try to set your device back to factory settings and see if the apps are installed during this process.

  • You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software.??

I have recently been having issues signing into my Apple ID and decided to go in and update my email and change my password.
Since changing my email and password I have been unable to update any of my apps. I receive this error message when trying to update, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
I have looked into other forums and communities for a solution to this issue but from what I have read iTunes/Apple has yet to figure out a solution.
I have also read that the cause of this issue can be linked to two things.
One, is if you have multiple accounts on one computer. I only have one iTunes account/ Apple ID on this computer. This is my personal laptop and no one else has ever loaded on another account.
The second cause is linked to the country to which the apps were downloaded in. My computer and Apple ID were both created in the US, however 9 months ago I moved to New Zealand on a one year work holiday visa. Since living in New Zealand for the past 9 months I have been buying and updating apps, it wasn't until today when I received this error message.
I would really like to find a solution to this problem, but at the very least I would like to know what exactly caused this issue so that others may hopefully steer clear.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers.

I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

  • HT2404 When I try to download free updates for apps, I've suddenly started getting an error message saying: You cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." But I do own the apps. And I haven't changed my ID

When I try to download free updates for apps, I've suddenly started getting an error message saying "You cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software".
But I HAVE owned the software, for ages. (And, in any case, the apps in question are all free.)
And I don't have multiple Apple IDs.
    What can I do?
    Any advice much appreciated

This can occur if you bought the machine used and iLife was reinstalled with another AppleID.
This also can occur if the "free apps" you downloaded have paid upgraded versions and/or are now payware and you can't get updates.
All software from MAS is copy protected, it might be free as in "no charge" but it's not free in the sense you can share it with others.

  • Pages "have not owned the major version of this software" wont open wont update

My pages wont update since i "have not owned the major version of this software" then it wont let me open pages because its being updated...HELP I have so many essays to write.

What version of pages were you using? How was it purchased?
    What version of OS X?
Apple has gone through several variations on the purchase/licensing of iWork and Pages, and the advice on what to do will vary with the method that Pages was obtained and installed.
In the meantime, you could rough out your essays on Text Edit, found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, or download and install one of the open source office applications, OpenOffice.org, LibraOffice or NeoOffice. None are a direct replacement for Pages, but they should be able to get you through until you have Pages back.

  • HT1420 I'm getting this error. You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software.

My kids did something to itunes and now I'm getting the error.
You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software. This is the computer that we have always updated our apps on. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

I have the same thing. It looks like it's the store. What is happening is that instead of the store showing you only the updates for the account you are logged into, it shows you the updates for all of your accounts. So if you try & update an app that was purchased with another account, you get that message. This is a pain, as you have to go through the apps individually (update all just gives you an error) , and then log out & into the other account again to get the rest of the updates.

  • Applications problem: "You cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."

    Hi all,
RE: Applications problem: "You cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
Until recently, I have not encountered this problem.  And I am facing this problem for both my iPad and iPhone.
I only have 1 iTunes account and the most recent change was that I switched the location from Singapore to UK (I'm currently in the UK).  I also updated my applications a couple of times before since the change in location, so I doubt it's due to the location change.  I've tried signing out of the account in the iTunes accounts on the devices, then signing back in.  I've also tried restarting the devices (and for the iPad, I even updated the iOS).
Any idea what else I can do to try to rectify this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Tammy

    Hi there!
    Thanks for replying!
    1.  Yup, my iOS is the latest (6.0.1), and I have 7 apps on my iPhone that apparently have updates.  But it's been 6.0.1 for quite some time and I've also been able to update the apps till just this week.
    2.  I don't have a credit card associated with my account anymore.  Ever since I changed the location, I removed the credit card details.  But I didn't have problems with any of my apps (updating or downloading new ones) until this week.  Also, all the apps I've downloaded since I came to the UK are free apps.
    I still don't know what's wrong.

  • Ou cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software?

I have apple 3gs 16 gb ios 6.01, when i tried to update software i get error saying, you cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software.
My software were downloaded by other apple ID from where i had given for repair. Now same software am unable to update due to error.
how to get rid of this error, tried googling it but seems nobody is able to resolve the same

You need to delete all Apps installed via that guy's ID, else ask him for his password. Thereafter, log off out of his ID.
Login with your ID. Install Apps via own ID. That gives you complete ownership.

I can not update my iPhoto because it coming back with "you have not owned the major version of this software"
    Help

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To update iPhoto to the latest version, open  > Software Update.
If it says that you are running the latest version, open iPhoto, go to iPhoto menu > About iPhoto, and tell us what iPhoto version you are using. You may want to install an update for iPhoto '11 and you are running an older version

  • Software since you have not owned the major version of this software.

has anyone seen this message,"cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software"? cannot update my apps.

I had the same message updating iMovie and iPhoto after migration to a new MacBook Pro.  AppleCare told me to go to the Purchases tab in AppStore and Accept those pre-installed programs to be added to my Apple ID.  After that, update went fine.
