Tool to copy/move variables across Planing areas

Hi,
Anyone seen, heard of, or used a tool to copy variables already created in one planning area, to another planning area which obviously shares exactly the same characteristics?
It's plainful and time consuming having to re-create them.

Never heard about it but can be created copy the entries from the tables mentioned below and change the planning area and update it back (small ABAP to do it). <b>SAP never recommend writing data back to standard tables</b>. The list mentioned below is comprehensive and should be OK. Actually when you collect a variable in a request SAP passes on these entries to the target system.

UCCX 5.02 Copy/Move Agent Recordings

UCCX 5.02 Copy/Move Agent Recordings
We are running UCCX 5.02 and have a workflow setup to automatically record all agent calls without Supervisor intervention. We are not using QM. Is there a UCCX tool, other than writing a .bat file and scheduling it, that will copy/move the recordings to another location automatically?

See attached for a script a wrote to archive the .raw files created by CRS to .wav format on a Windows network share. All activities carried out by the script are logged to text file for reference.
Use at your own risk!
Be aware that it doesn't 'clean out' entries from the databases, so if you allow the script to remove files from the CRS server the recordings will appear in Supervisor desktop until they expire.
To run the script, read it carefully, check the parameters, and rename it to .vbs.
It should then be added as a Scheduled Task and executed as a local administrator on the CRS server itself. On a HA setup, set up the scheduled task on each recording server.

"failsafe" data copy/move tool?

before I write a shellscript myself, I was wondering if the following already exists:
a file/directory copying/moving tool (which preserves permissions, can copy directories recursively, etc), but:
1) if dest already exists, rename it first so that there is always a backup of whatever was there before.
2) if anything fails, I don't want src or dest in a bad shape. Either they have the correct data, or they don't. (although I wouldn't mind having dest.tmp or something so that I can resume the transfer later)
3) support copying on the same host, but also to remote hosts (over scp).
afaict, neither of scp and rsync support all this.
So i guess you could call this a "transactional" copy/move. Implementation wise, here's how I would do it:
1) if dest exists, mv dest dest.old<date>
2A) in case it's a move where src and dest are on the same filesystem, mv src dest
2B) all other cases: copy all data to dest.temp, and when that worked perfectly, mv dest.temp to dest
3) remove src if needed.

I would say that rsync kind of does what you want with '-a --partial-dir=DIR --delete-after --partial'.
I use -a (which is equivalent to -rlptgoD) but you can use more or less switches, for me -a seems to work fine. However I never tried using '--partial-dir=DIR --delete-after' so I don't know how well it will work. The switch --delay-updates might also interest you as it will try to make changes more atomic.
Edit:
After re-re-reading the man page I have noticed that you may also want to look at the -b and --suffix=SUFFIX switches. If rsync does what you want, it will require a ton of switches, but I guess it's better than writing and debugging your own script.

Database copy Move data

Hello,
I have a database A. of about 15GB size and want to copy the data across to database B. - same schema just a few additional tables.
When I use Oracle Sql developer and click on tools- database copy and select my source A and destination B. truncate objects the process starts
but..does not copy any data at all. - it takes only 3 minutes as well.
why is that?

well I dont just want to create a duplicate of database A. because B. contains some tables that are still important but unique to B.
most of the tables between A. and B. are the same and I just want to copy them over from A to B.
Using the Oracle SQL Developer seems to get the similarities between the schemas and copy those table over BUT it somehow forgets the data altough there
is a DATA MOVE as part of the copying procedure.
I know there is the options to create migration repositories but this all seems to complicated to me.

Delete partially copied movie file from iPhone. Shows grayed out in Videos on the iPhone but it doesn't show up in iTunes.

I have synced my iPhone 4S with iTunes and I got an error while copying one movie. Now this movie shows up grayed out in videos on the iPhone but NOT in iTunes. Hence, I cannot delete this partially copied movie from my iPhone. And since it is grayed out, the right-to-left swipe does not work. I have resynced with "no movies" option so that every movie would be deleted and indeed every movie was deleted except for the problematic one. I rebooted the iPhone several times in case it was a glitch. No success. I even tried tools like iExplorer and DiskAid but I cannot find this **** file. Is there any way to delete this partially copied file from the iPhone without having to restore it?

You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

Sharepoint 2013 copy/move operation using Content and Structure fails

Hi,
We had a recent upgrade from SP2010 to SP2013 environment. After the migration, we realized that the
copy/move operations using Manage content and structure(sitemanager.aspx) is not working as expected, neither does this give any error nor is it stuck. In fact if I check the content and structure log I find the message as
succeeded but file/item is not copied to the target.
The strange thing is that if I am performing this operation with Full Control permission level it
does not work but if I do the operation as Site collection admin it works without problem. I know if sub-sites are to moved then one should be site col admin but in this case I am trying to move just documents or pages.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Vineet,
According to your description, my understanding is that copy/move operation using Content and Structure cannot work in SharePoint.
I recommend to check if there are any custom fields in the source list/library and target list/library. If yes, delete the custom fields to see if the issue still occurs.

To copy or move files/items between sites, we need to have
appropriate permissions on both sites.
I recommend to check if the user has full control on both sites.

Is this a bug?: copied movie clip has wrong frame rate and ruins the main movie's sync

Hello,
I am trying to copy a movieclip with a frame rate of 30 frames per second to a movie that has a frame rate of 30 frames per second. Both movies are actionscript 3 movies. When I do this, my copied movie clip's frame rate reverts to 12 frames per second and all my audio synched animation is trashed. Then when I change it back manually to 30 frames per second it makes my main movie's stage animation go crazy at full possible speed and the audio is all out of sync. I have not set export for sharing or action script on this movie clip. I've tried other movie clips that are 30 frames per second and it is all crazy!
Is this a bug? What can I do? I've got 100s of movie clips I need to make. I can't keep remaking them just because flash has a screw loose. I'll go crazy!

Oh sorry I goofed! My main time line is 12 fps! I can't belive I didn't see this before.

ITunes Videos (Both Movies and TV Shows) are skipping/ studdering.

iTunes Videos (Both Movies and TV Shows) are skipping/ studdering.
These videos were taken from my hard drive, converted with Format Factory, then placed in itunes.
ON ipad the videos playback perfectly, but in itunes itself it fails drastically.
Same problem happens with quicktime. If i open these videos up with quicktime, it studders and skips, while if i open it with VLC, it works fine.
I have already disabled 3d acceleration, which helped a very small bit.
The Rest of itunes runs smoothly, just video playback is screwed

HP Envy 14
Intel i5 quad core processor 2.53 ghz
6 gb ddr3 ram
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Itunes 10.5.1
Quicktime 7.7.1

Update
It turns out that the reason for not playing TV shows and movies is not the network.
Something happened with the files while copying them from the Macbook to the NAS station.
I noticed that after copying a TV show from the NAS Station back onto the Macbook Air drive; it was not possible to import that file into iTunes. iTunes ignored importing that file.
On the other side the TV shows will be played by Quicktime, either from the NAS station or from the Macbook.
It might be important to mention that the NAS station is not OSX formatted.
Does someone know what happened ?

Final Cut 10.1 crash when copy/move events

Final Cut 10.1 crash or hangs up with spinning beachball when copy/move several events between libraries at once. The problem happens more often than not when managaging media in different libraries on same and/or different disks.
Move or copy one event at a time works, but not several events at the same time.
The problem occurs on an 21.5 iMac (mod 2010) i3, 12 Gb RAM, 500 Gb HDD with external WD FW800 disk, an 27" iMac i7 (mod 2010), 12 Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD with external LaCie FW800 disks as well as with a 13" MacBook Pro (late 2012) i5, 16 Gb RAM, 480 Gb SSD with 1Tb External thunderbolt disk.
Just checked one of the external drives that had problems with move/copy with Disc Manager and there were no errors.

I tried the same thing with smaller (200 Gbyte) library and this problem didn't occur.
My guess is that something fishy was going on with the large (>1 Tbyte) default libraries during upgrade to 10.1 and therefore not found during test of move/copy functionality.
My own two machines are now upgraded to 10.1.1, but I have not dared to see if this work with an on-going project ;-)

Copying movies and music into iTunes

Is there a way to have iTunes copy songs to my music folder when I import them, but not copy movies to my music folder when I import them?
When I import new songs into iTunes, I like to have iTunes copy the song to my iTunes Music folder. When I encode a movie I like to keep it in the Movies folder on my hard drive. Makes sense music -> Music folder, movies -> Movies folder. However, I recently got an iPod Touch and in order to add movies to it I have to go through iTunes. When I add a movie to iTunes, it makes a copy of the movie in my music folder. Now I have two copies of the movie. I have a small(ish) hard drive and don't want to sacrifice the space.
I can copy songs to my Touch without importing the movies into iTunes if I disable music/movie syncing, but then my music and playlists are not synced, making it an incomplete solution.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the ideas, but neither really solve the problem.
By keeping the files on an external drive I no longer have access to my songs when I don't have my external with me. In any case I still have two copies of a movie for no good reason, even if only one copy is on my computer.
And while I'll probably end up changing the preferences every time will work, it is very inelegant. Hopefully Apple builds a better solution into iTunes.

Error message when copying .mov files

Hello,
I'm trying to copy .mov files to back up from my desktop and from an external hardrive (250gb) to a new external hardrive (350gb) but each time I am getting the an error message saying the operation can not be completed due to unexpected error (error code 0). The files i am trying to copy are between 7gb and 20gb. Does anyone what what the error message means or how I can get around it please?!

If you want to use large files you have to reformat it. It will erase any data that is on the drive, If the drive will be used only with OSX, format it as Mac Extended (HFS+) Journaled with the GUID partition table.
Start Disk Utility (Utilities Folder). Select the drive in the left column (be sure to select the drive, all the way at the left, not the volume indented below it). Select the "Partition" tab. Set "Volume Scheme" to "1 Partition". Click the "Options" button. Select "GUID Partition Table". Click the "OK" button. Enter the volume name and click the "Apply" button.

Substitution Variable across two dimensions

Hello,
I was wondering if we could define a single substitution variable across two dimensions. For instance, we have two dimensions Year (FY10,FY11,FY12, etc) and Period (QTR1, JAN, FEB, MAR, QTR2...)
I understand we can define a range of values in a single subvar such as &period is Jan:Dec.
However, given the above two dimensions we would like something like this Jan.FY10:Dec.FY13. I know this would be easier if years and months belonged to the same dimension but they are two different dimensions. So, essentially we want to define a single subvar involving two dimensions.
Please let me know, if this is possible on Essbase 9.

Thanks for all your responses. As Gary and Srinivas pointed out @XRANGE definitely works with a subvar with a few limitations;
1. Cannot be used in a FIX statement
2. For accurate months across different years, the order of the subvar should be FY11->FEB, FY13->DEC and not not FEB->FY11, DEC->FY13 since in my db, the Period dimension is DENSE and appears before the YEARS dimension in the outline.
3. It works in a IF statement
However one lingering issue I have is with a @PRIOR statement on conjunction with @XRANGE within my IF statement:
Note: subvar &RANGE = FY11->FEB, FY13->DEC
STAT1(
IF(@ISMBR(@XRANGE(&RANGE)))
IF(STAT1 = 20)
STAT1 = @PRIOR(STAT1)

The problem is STAT1 gets calculated accurately for all months for that year. However, all months the following year donot get calculated. So, essentially the BEGBALANCE (also at level 0) doesnt get calculated for the next year. Here an illustration of before and after:

So, essentially though the @XRANGE takes into account BegBalance and calculates for each year based on prior year->dec, which is good. However, introducing the @PRIOR doesnt calculate BegBalance. Looks like I dont have any option other than using @MDSHIFT instead of @PRIOR when it comes to using @PRIOR with @XRANGE.
Unless I am incorrectly using the @PRIOR statement with @XRANGE. Please suggest.

Copying Substitution Variable

We have migrated the application and database from one server to the other. Everything got migrated except the substitution variables because they are stored at server level. Is there a way that I could export them and load into our server or do we have to create it manually?. I know there is a way to copy them but its possible only when two servers are added to the EAS Console which in my case isn't and I can't do that. If you guys help me this I really appreciate.

Obviously the simplest way would be through EAS though you say you can't go down that route.
One method you could use maxl to display the variables (display variable all;) and spool them to a file, then format the file a little (could be done in excel to create the correct format for maxl) and use maxl again to set them up on your new environment.
I am sure there are other ways but my brain has switched off :)
