Touchpad drivers

I have a brand new HP Pavilion dv7-6b56nr with windows 7 64 bit
After using hp support assistant to update my drivers The new driver does not let me turn off the keypad with a keypad gesture. It’s a feature that I used all the time and a selling point. Now every time I try to uninstall it reinstalls itself on startup. Why would a company like hp trick its consumers into disabling features that they advertise? Please help me. If I cannot disable the key pad this thing is as useful as a brick.
I've read similar posts about the same issue nobody seems to have an answer besides to turn it off in the control panel but it just turns back on

Have you tried manually update the drivers??
Start>>rclick on Computer>>manage>>device manager
then rightclick on your device and try to update the drivers.
You can also try to download the drivers at devid.info
just try to look for your devices' driver id.
good luck!

  • ConfigMgr 2012 R2 Client Failes to Install on HP EliteBook laptops with Synaptics Touchpad drivers

I've come across a fairly frustrating issue that has been taking up way too much of my time that past week or so. The issue started a little after some of our larger sites were migrated from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012. I started getting complaints that one of
our technical workstations (HP 8770w) was not deploying properly. I started investigating the issue and the problem involved the removal of the old ConfigMgr 2007 client and install of the new SCCM 2012 R2 client.
The Windows 7 x64 OS WIM that I am using is one that was migrated from the 07 to 2012 environment and it has been working fine. During the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr step the old client is removed and the new one for the 2012 environment installs. There
has not been any issues with this, but I feel something has changed now that we are deploying the 2012 R2 client.
Back to the issue, what happens is that the ConfigMgr client fails to uninstall the old client. Looking in the client.msi_uninstall file you will see that it is unable to locate a couple of SCCM 2007 configmgr client patches that were installed so it can
uninstall it. I get the "Couldn't find local patch ''. Looking for it at its source." line in the uninstall file. When I look for that under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Patches the ENTIRE directory structure is empty. There is not a single item
    listed under patches.
Since the only thing that happens in between the pushing down of the WIM and installing the configmgr client is the drivers that is where I started to look. I started over with the basics (disk and network driver) and it was able to complete the OSD process
(like the other 30+ models we currently support). I added drivers one by one having the system re-image each time. When I got to the Synaptics TouchPad drivers the issue would return. I've tried around 5 different drivers offered from the vendor and they
all result in the same behavior.
I'm still actively troubleshooting how to FIX this issue, but I have no idea why this is going on. I thought I would share with the community on this issue and see if anyone else has observed this VERY odd behavior.
Here is a snippet from the client.msi_uninstall log:

    @Narcoticoo
I've not used the tool. This issue has also expanded since the original title as I'm getting the same behavior with the driver package that does not include the Touchpad driver anymore. I'm currently going back to just the network and storage driver to see
    if it works or not.
However, this is the bigger issue I have:
I have an older build called Build 5.7 internally. Using that WIM and the same driver package (original one that has the Touchpad driver included) it works without issue. Never had a problem.
The new build is called Build 6.0 internally. This WIM and the same driver package has not been working at all.
We support about 35 models with our current Windows 7 x64 image and I am having the same failure issue on four different HP models. They are the 8770w, ZBook 17, Z600 and Z820. The majority of the other systems are Dell devices. Just for transparency sakes,
nothing Dell specific is in the core WIM that is captured.
So, Build 5.7 can deploy just fine on all pieces of hardware with their old driver packages. The new Build 6.0 intalls on almost every platform fine with their old driver packages. These four HP systems are nothing but trouble though. I've opened a case
with HP to see if they have noticed anything internally. I'm not too hopeful, but at least it is something. Maybe there is some odd conflict with a newer Windows patch or some odd dependency on older HP drivers. The new image has .NET 4.5.1, IE 10 and so forth.

  • Touchpad drivers not installing for U310 Touch on Windows 7

My wife got a U310 Touch today which is a nice little computer. However it came with Windows 8 and she prefers Windows 7, so I took care of clearing the hard drive and installing Windows 7. We installed all the Windows 7 drivers from the Lenovo support site however the touchpad drivers fail to install. I tried manually installing the Synaptec drivers but it told me I don't have a Synaptec device. I then installed the Cypress drivers manually and rebooted but then the trackpad doesn't work at all.
I looked in Device Manager and the Hardware ID for the PS/2 Compatible Mouse says SYN2B0B which appears by all internet research to be a Synaptics hardware ID, which would make it understandable that the Cypress driver didn't work but really irritating that the Synaptics installer won't run because it says I don't have a Synaptics device.
What should I do? The default Microsoft drivers are OK but she really wants to disable the tap to click and adjust some of the other settings that aren't available without real touchpad drivers.

    hi Ngravelyn,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Please try this auto detect, Check if this one works
    TouchPad Driver (Synaptics, Cypress)
    0wto11ww.exe
    142MB
Please make sure to uninstall any Installed driver for the touchpad first before installing this.
    Hope this helps

  • Satellite L550-18M - Cannot find any Touchpad Drivers

    Hello.
I just bought a Toshiba Satellite L550-18M and I can`t seem to locate any drivers for the full use of my touchpad (can`t use scrolling, nor zooming functions).
I tried installing some synaptics from the our sugestions official website and some synaptics drivers from a Toshiba Satellite L500D, but it didn`t help.
    Please send your suggestions.
    Thanks

    Hi mate
I dont know what Windows OS you have but I assume you are using Win 7 64bit. Right?
The L550-18M belongs to PSLNEE series.
It seems that there are no many drivers published for this series.
But there are touchpad drivers for other Satellite L550 series.
The Alps Electric and Synaptics touchpad drivers are released.
    In driver download form choose;
    - Satellite
    - Satellite L series
    - Satellite L550
    - All (short model)
    - All (operating system)
    - Touchpad driver
Then you will get all drivers for touchpad.
PS: be sure that the touchpad settigns are configured in control panel -> mouse -> device settigns

  • Satellite A200-226: I can't find my touchpad drivers

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba A200-226, and I've been using Windows 7 professional for a while, but I've formated the PC and now I can't find my touchpad drivers...
It has dual mode, so the synaptics web site drivers are not complete, can someone help me on this?
    Regards

    hi,
you can check it on the Toshiba driver page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
if you don't find win 7, try vista's one. Note, satellite a200 drivers are placed in *archive* in +family+ section

  • Linux Mint/Ubuntu touchpad drivers u410

Hi, can one of the lenovo reps provide, or explain why they are not providing touchpad drivers for the u410 in linux. I have a bit of a hack going that allows tapping on a certain area of the touchpad to register as a right click, but depressing the clicker to the right of the marking just does a normal left click.
Any method of registering a right depress of the touchpad as a right click will do me.
    Thanks.

    create /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/51-clickpad.conf
(i had to create the xorg.conf.d folder)
put the following text into it, log off and log on:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Default clickpad buttons"
    MatchDriver "synaptics"
    Option "SoftButtonAreas" "50% 0 82% 0 0 0 0 0"
    EndSection
I intend on playing with that 82% value, perhaps changing it down to 62%, because the height that the right button responds from isn't the same as the left button with the above solution.
What way did you set up the hard drives with the u410? I wiped both, put mint 13 on the SDD and have the HDD for data. Do you know if that's a sane idea? I've heard SDDs might not last very long, but then I've also heard info to the contrary. Also think the mic doesn't work out of the box. Did you set up the nvidia card with bumblebee? Nice laptop really, have had to reinstall linux 4 or 5 times to get to this (finally stable) state though, given all my attempted twickery. Had intended on putting ubuntu studio on it, but it kept freezing (as did mint). Would love any info on moving the home folder (and anything else that makes sense) to the HDD. From Galway... Out

  • HP Probook 6570b Synaptic touchpad drivers

I'm looking to disable the touchpad on one of my laptops and it seems that I do not have the synaptic drivers installed.  The HP drivers & support site doesn't list any touchpad drivers for this laptop.

I was able to find the driver disk and found the synaptic drivers.  I wonder why HP doesn't list the driver on the download site....

  • X201 Touchpad drivers (for Windows XP)

I recently got a new X201 with Windows XP installed (from work).
While the touchpad works fine, I noticed that I can't scroll (up/down, left/right) using it. I went to the control panel in search of settings, but all I see under "Mouse" are the standard windows settings, so I'm assuming I'm missing the appropriate drivers.
    My questions:
    1) Does the X201 touchpad have multi-touch capabilities? Or at least the ability to scroll?
    2) Are drivers available for Windows XP?
Really would appreciate any help I could get on this!

    Hi,
I can confirm that x201 has multitouch - I can zoom in and out using 2 fingers.
And scrolling also works, when you slide the edges.
    I have windows 7.
But the extra settings for the touchpad in the x201 is customized under the pre-installed lenovo program.
I think XP could've wiped that out.
You can check microsoft site if there is any upgrade to the touchpad...other than that, I don't know ><

  • Envy 13 Windows 8 Touchpad drivers

Are there going to be new drivers for the Envy 13 touchpad? I've updated to Windows 8 and none of the gestures work.

    Hi:
Some of the Envy 13 models have the synaptics touchpad software.  If yours uses that, you may want to try the W8 driver from Synaptics directly.

  • New Touchpad Drivers

    Hello,
on the upcoming (and certain already released) Thinkpad models the touchpad was redesigned and now has integrated buttons. On Windows this works quiet well but on linux this situation is different. Clicking the touchpad makes the pointer move in random directions. Trackpoint scrolling while holding the "middle button" like in windows does not work either.
Are there any plans to release a linux driver for the touchpads?
Don't get me wrong, I like the new touchpad, but without proper driver support it is just not usable.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I doubt this helps with the scrolling issue, but xinput shows quite a lot of settings. Pretty much "trial & error" to figure out what each one does.
    Open terminal and type:
    xinput list
Then find the touchpad device name (probably same as this one):
    xinput list-props "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
All settings can be changed with:
    xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "<property name>" 1.0
xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Accel Constant Deceleration" 1.5
xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Accel Velocity Scaling" 1
Two above examples are related to cursor sensitivity only. I use those for my regular mouse too, because Ubuntu's GUI settings just blows.
The settings will not be saved over reboot, to make them permanent, follow and adapt these instructions (instructions for Ubuntu):
    http://patrickmylund.com/blog/lowering-gaming-mouse-sensitivity-in-ubuntu-9-10/
Ranting: especially Gnome/Ubuntu could do a lot better with the mouse/touchpad settings panel generally. They seem to just remove settings in the name of "simplifying" and there weren't that many settings in the first place. And latest brainfart was that they combined sensitivity and acceleration sliders - seriously? I've never managed to get the sensitivies to my liking with the GUI sliders, always had to use xinput like above.

  • Tm2 touchpad is completely unusuable even when working perfectly due to drivers

It seems there is a flaw in the touchpad drivers.  If you use two hands on the touch pad, one to move the mouse and another to click the buttons, it becomes unusable.
This touchpad has physical click buttons that double as part of the touch area.  If you leave one finger physically resting on a button, it messes with another finger trying to move the mouse.  Worse yet, even if you change the way you use it so you use one finger to move the mouse and touch the buttons only when lifting this finger, it becomes impossible to highlight text.
Since in order to highlight text, you have to keep the physical button pushed in while trying to move the mouse.  The pad basically sees this as a tap or something and breaks the dragging so the highlight area stops growing as you move the mouse.
It would seem the drivers need to have a setting to either virtually shrink the area of the pad that is used for mouse movements so any area outside of this area is not used.  Or needs to be self aware of physical buttons and have a toggle to not activate the touch area above the buttons.
I have tried to see if I could maybe set a scroll area or any other area over the area of the buttons to help alleiviate this problem, but none of these attempted tricks have worked.  Using one finger to move and another to touch the physical buttons just breaks everything and makes the pad unusuable.

What makes it worse is that the user made linux touchpad drivers for synaptic touchpads does let you define the phyiscal touch area.  So in linux you could easily shrink the area so the touch area does not include the buttons.
There is no technical reason why the windows driver cannot support this. Just add a tab to the menu for touch area and let people define it with a box just like the current driver allows you to set touch zones.  Then the feature is universal and it would work for any future variation of physical buttons and touchpad area.
I personally am in awe of how they could make a touch pad where the physical buttons double as touch area and not notice that you need a way to exclude the buttons from the touch area if you actually want to use them.  Why did they make physical buttons that you cannot use?  Do they not test this stuff?

  • HP Envy 17 Touchpad Issues

Product name: HP Envy m6 Notebook PC
    Product number: G5N44UA # ABA
    Hello,
For the past couple of weeks my touchpad has the pointer moving erratically on the screen. It sometimes responds to my commands to click or to scroll, but most of the time it moves very slow, highlights the text on the screen when I don't want it to, clicks on things I don't click on, and this morning the pointer was moving on its own without me even touching it. I've tried downloading the latest synaptics pointing device that I've read on other posts from the HP discussion boards, but to no avail. What should I do to fix this?

Please click on the below shown like to download and re-install the touchpad drivers:

  • HP Envy M7-J020DX (17inch Touchsmart) touchpad is too sensitive

I prefer to use the touchpad when sitting with the pc.  This is a new one, purchased yesterday.  It is handy to be able to tap the touchpad to select what the arrow is on....even more so with this new pc.  With only "clicking" selected in properties, the pressure needed to complete the action is considerably more than older or other pc's which have seperate single left and right buttons, so it become a pain if you do a lot of this ( I do!) so tapping to select would be preferred.
With tapping enabled, the  very slightest pressure will select what is under the arrow.  I mean VERY slightest....like when the first molecules of skin on the tapping finger breathes on the touchpad, it activates it.
I have followed all the troubleshooting procedures I can find in an attempt to find a way to regulate this.  It, as far as I can see, is just not available.  For instance, bringing up the properties of the clickpad or touch pad shows the following:
MULTIFINGER GESTURES and six subcategories relating to gestures (all unclicked)
        SCROLLING (checked)
        POINTING
SMARTSENSE  Even tho this pertains to palm pressure, I have experimented with the slider to the max
TAPPING      this is what I would like to have control over.  When unchecked I have to manually PRESS left                         or right "buttons", a little too forcefully for my liking.
        CLICKING  checked
ENABLE SWIPE EDGES checked (have tried both ways)
       OVERVIEW  no function
As you can see there is no SENSITIVITY setting.  In some of the troubleshooting guides I DID SEE a sensitivity control.... along with a slider. I would love to have that.  Hoped it would appear by downloading the latest driver suggested by an HP scan......a 107mb behemoth that, after installed, did not change anything that I could see.
This is an irritating problem to have with a thousand dollar notebook.  There must be a fix out there.....fix the sensitivity so the unit isn't clicking errantly on links as I scroll over them looking  for something else.
Thank you for taking the time to read.....

Hi tallpall. I have found the reference that you were probably referring to regarding the option to change touch sensitivity. See the section "Adjusting TouchPad or ClickPad pointing sensitivities" in this document: Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8)
If that option is not there, you can restore your original TouchPad drivers using this method: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8)
Hopefully that returns the original options to adjust the TouchPad sensitivity.  Let me know if it works.
