Tour 9630 e-mail issues

New to the Tour and BB, two e-mail issues. It won't see or open e-mail PDF attachments from just one particular sender (he uses a Mac, but shouldn't matter). BB opens other PDF's fine, and they open in my laptop's Outlook just fine from this sender (but not on the phone).
Next, e-mails come in to BB already opened (in both the Messages icon and the Yahoo e-mail icon on the BB), only some stay bold until I click on them? This happens when I have not checked e-mail on BB or on my laptop, yet they still show as opened on BB with just a few staying bold or unopened? I have Auto Open in Holster set to Never, and don't do any reconciling. Any help with the two topics above would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

@D55R33WW - The previous client was able to correct this by adjusting the send/recieve frequency within Outlook and in your case within MacMail.
More details...
If there are too many pop connections at once on the account then it will keep other connections from accessing the account and you will receive that error message.
What I would recommend here is that your customer adjust the frequency (10 mins or more) that their email client checks the mailbox.
To clarify a bit further, the system can handle the frequent pop connections, but sometimes the email clients fail to close their first connection correctly which leaves it idle on our system for some time.
Then when they try to connect again they encounter errors because there are already connections for that account.

at start of every song I loose the first second or so of sound, this is even happening on album playback mode where songs are connected or run into each other, other than that the sond is great. This is very annoying , it is as if my Blackberry shuts the sound down at track markers. I am using Windows Vista and lod songs via Windows media Player, loading is not an issue it is simply that litle dead zone at the start of each song at playback. anyone else experienceing this ? Any solutions.   Thanks , Larry

You're not the only one judging by the forums!
Likewise I have been using Apples since the Apple IIe(!) and have found them great in every respect. iTunes however over the past couple of years has deteriorated to th point of being unuseable. Apple has made iTunes the hub of your digital life and so it really has to work seemlessly.
I currently have had to completely wipe and re-install my 64Gb iPhone 4s several times to get my music back on to it. I cannot het any playlists to sync which is really annoying and it generally undermines my faith in Apples software quality.
Please put whatever resources are necessary to fix this soon Apple or you will certainly start to haemorrhage customers to other platforms. After all if iTunes remains broken then what's the point of paying the extra for Apple qulaity? You may as well uplaod ebverything to Google play and be done with it!

  • I have issues - BlackBerry DM for Mac and a Tour 9630

I have a Tour 9630 and I am trying to sync on a Mac running Leopard and using the BB DM software. When I start to sync the progress bar starts to move across and then just stops, it stays like that forever and either doesn't do anything or crashes. Any one else out there having these problems? I can't sync my calendar or anything! Please help!  I don't want to go back to using Missing Sync. (I have a whole other set of issues getting Missing Sync to communicate with my BB after installing the new DM. I had to install the DM in order to fix my BB when it got stuck on 552 and 507 error messages).
    Please help!

    Hi,
I had the same problem with Pocket Mac. Now with BB Desktop Manager the first time it duplicated my contacts and those I couldn't delete on the Tour. First, check out the Tour and the Mac and find out where do you have the most updated list. That one is the one that you're going to sync to the other. If is on the Mac, wipeout the Tour, if is vice versa, clean the Address Book on the Mac and when you sync, overwrite the other one. Other option is to sync one thing at a time. First your contacts, then the calendar and so on. The calendar sync has worked for me since the first time. Keep the Tour sync with only ONE computer. Other thing is, backup the data on the Tour, BB Desktop M will help you do it. Use the version 1.0.  You can find it here, because the 1.0.1 update is what you will find on the BB site. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CGR9QN2S

  • Anyone Have a Blackberry Tour 9630 Replaced with BB Bold when RIM said Tours Defective?

I'm asking this because I need to find out who got a replacement Bold or other Blackberry for the defective Tour 9630 since in my case I got screwed.
I'm curious when they allowed the swap and if your contract was extended?
Why? Because my story tops them all as far as cell phone provider issues! I want to file an FCC complaint but I need some more facts that Verizon is not giving me after they look up my account and realize I'm one they got one over on.
Here is what happened to me:
I upgraded after my 1st year with Verizon, I got a Blackberry Tour in 1/2010. That phone had so many problems I had to keep taking it in every month for a replacement. Verizon refused to exchange for a different Blackberry. I had it 6 Blackberry Tour 9630's in 6 months.
I even called RIM and they said they had "design" issues with the Tour and it's being taken off the market with the phone carriers, they said Verizon should be allowing you to get a replacement phone of same or lower cost (another Blackberry).
Well that never happened and I had to file an FCC complaint before corporate finally called to help me. I even told them the "NEW" Tour I paid for when I signed a new contract was refurbished because when I tried to send the info in for the rebate, I got an letter stating that particular phone already received it's rebate.  Yep, I paid for a used phone, nice huh?
I should have stopped it right there, given them their used phone back and walked away but I'm thinking they are working with me and gave me the rebate ASAP, it will be OK.
WRONG!! 6 months into the contract with theTour not working and those 6 replacements I mentioned, they agree to give me another phone for $50. I said "drop dead, no more money from me because of an issue that's no fault of mine."
Then they said OK we'll give you a phone of the same value at no charge. So not knowing how the Bold was gonna work yet, I went with a Droid 2 as the Droid 1 had been out awhile and  I heard most bugs had been worked out.
Now here is the real kicker in the whole story. After they mailed me the new Droid, I was online paying my bill and noticed Verizon re-set my contract.
Instead of being up in January 2012 it now shows September 2012 even though I got the Droid 2 in July. **bleep**??
No one told me that and I couldn't get anyone to help fix that mess, they said "you got a new phone, we resolved your issue". Yeah ONE of the issues, not all of the issues like the fact the very first new phone of the new contract was USED!
Then to make matters worse, I heard from 2 people who had Tours and they said Verizon changed the policy and replaced the Tours with the Blackberry Bold for no charge and no contract extension. One of them swaped the phone May 30th and the other at the end of June. Before and after they finally called to help me.
This is why I need to know not what the Verizon policy states (because they can type of anything for all I know) but who got a new phone and when. What month and what year?
This is only referring to the Blackberry Tour 9630 the one with the small black trackball that they promptly pulled off the shelves around the time I got another phone.
If Verizon said they were looking into a solution,  I would have used my old Blackberry Curve for a bit , gotten the Bold,  and not be looking at this 9 month contract extension.
I don't know, they make it so hard for honest people who have hit hard times and dealt with bad phone after bad phone to just get a fair break. I have been sick and out of work for 3 years, I've used every penny I saved hoping I was going to get better. That is now not going to happen and when I really need out of the **bleep** contract, they pull this garbage.
If I just want out of the contract , I was told it would cost around $350. If I had $350 I wouldn't be typing this. I suppose I can fake my own death and get out of the contract that way.
So guess I work on becoming dead since that's my only option. I will never, ever, ever sign a cell contract as long as live, if I live.
I don't mean to sound like such a bitchy customer, I really feel I was screwed from the start of this contract and the screws keep coming!

As iSync doesn't support Blackberry devices and you are using software from RIM to sync your Mac, you are unlikely to find a solution here.
However, one general point about syncing is the more things you try to sync with, the more likely problems are to appear. Syncing with both iCal and Entourage is often a culprit. I would suggest leaving Entourage out of the equation altogether and just sync iCal and the Blackberry software.

  • Trying to use the Tour 9630 with Outlook 2003 Calendar, Memo/Notes & Tasks. Can't Config & Complete....

I would like to use my Outlook 2003 with my Blackberry Tour 9630 to use the Calendar, Memo & Task features instead of entering everything on the BB. I use my Outlook Express 6 for my email input and output. The Outlook 2003 is not connected to the internet for use but on my computer as a free standing application. Everytime I attempt to config the Desktop with Calendar, Memo & Tasks I get a "Option Values is unacceptable. Pls check options properties". I do pick MS Outlook as the application to connect but continuely get that message above when I am at the end of the config process at selecting NEXT. I would like to use Outlook 2003 if it is ok to use and connect. Or is there any other application that I can easily purchase for an easier connect and config too. Pls assist me. Ed

Hello BklynBoy273 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Have you entered any information into Outlook yet?
The BlackBerry communicates with the Outlook data folder, called a pst.
KB02362 may offer you some help trying to get the sync configured.
Let me know how you make out.
Thanks! And have a great day

  • BB Tour 9630 battery keeps draining

    Hi:
I'm having a problem with my Tour 9630 battery draining.  When it first started was shortly after installing an animated theme, which I deleted later.  That solved the draining problem for about 2 days and then the battery started draining again.  I have deleted a number of apps that I thought might have been the culprits but the problem is still on going.  The battery will drain even if I power off the phone.   I took the phone and battery to the Verizon store where I purchased the Tour where they checked the phone and battery and said everything looked ok, they recommended doing a battery pull and see what happens.  I pulled the battery and that stops the draining until  I use the phone and then the draining starts again.  As it is now at night I power off the phone and put it on the charger but it usually will drain when I have the phone holstered during the day.  Does anybody have any ideas what might be happening and how I might fix this problem?
    Thanks;  Jon

    Hello Jon,
In this particular case I would recommend performing a clean reload of the BlackBerry Smartphone software.
First step would be to create a back up of your BlackBerry. To do this please open BlackBerry Desktop Manager Software and connect your BlackBerry Smartphone. Then click on Back Up and Restore Icon and select Back up. Make sure to note the location of the back up as we will require to access it to restore data after the reload process is complete.
Once the BlackBerry Smartphone is backed up please follow the attached knowledge base article to reload the software on your BlackBerry Smartphone.
    Link: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/kb11320
Upon completing the reload of the software I would ask that you monitor the devices battery levels prior to doing a restore of the backed up data. If you synchronize the BlackBerry Smartphone you can resync to get your organizer data back on the device.
    Thank you

  • Practical, experience-oriented recommended device (f/w? /) s/w version(s) for all PC-centric activities on the TELUS Mobility BB Tour 9630

Hey all ... I am wondering if I can pick people's brains and get good advice re: practical experience-oriented recommended device (f/w? /) s/w version(s) for all PC-centric activities on the TELUS Mobility BB Tour 9630, including the PC-resident s/w(pkgs) & USB / USB Serial drivers (on XP Pro SP3).
I will likely be wanting to upgrade various (f/w? /) s/w components after a 3 year hiatus on the BB front  ... however, based on my own IT experience, newer / newest (f/w?) / s/w(pkgs) is (are) not always best for the end-user, and, can even be limiting in certain identifiable respects ... I'm speaking in general terms here ... so ... it may be that the latest BB s/w is the absolute best way to go for my PC O/S platform and Tour device ... I'm just throwing out there this notion of making an educated determination as to which upgrades to install and to what version level, in case the general suspicions I outlined above have any merit.
I don't have (or want) Data enabled on this 9630, so, getting screen captures or Copied text off it (like all the information in Options > About: "BlackBerry (R) 9630, smartphone (3G, CDMA), v5.0.0.419 (Platform 4.2.0.179), 3G Bands 1 ... " [and, or course, there's lots more info on that screen ... ]) have so far eluded me (any suggestions or help on that front would be greatly appreciated) ... perhaps most of the device-relevant version info required by forum members to help me make this determination also appears in my PC screenshots below.
Here's what I have left over on my PC from my dealings with my BB Storm 9530 from 3 years ago:
     Thanks, FFF

Hello! Thank you for those clarifications...they do help greatly to understand your request. Here's my opinions:

More simply put ... should I upgrade my TELUS Tour 9630 software (currently at:  v5.0.0.419 [Platform 4.2.0.179] to the most currently available software, whatever version # / Platform # that may be?
Or, is there some advantage in upgrading only to a certain BlackBerry Operating System version level on this particular device?
For your 9630, you already are on the latest OS level that Telus released/supports. I do not know if other carriers have released anything more advanced, but you can read some very good discussion here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Tour/Verizon-Tour-Users-Revert-to-old-OS-here/td-p...
Based on what I've seen, I'd surmise that there is nothing "newer" than what you have...at least not officially...but you can dig through the official download portal to validate that:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
Given that it's the carriers who hold responsibility for releasing BB OS packages to their customers, that portal is indeed sorted first by carrier...so you must first dig to discover which carriers support your 9630 and then compare the OS packages that each supporting carrier has released. Sadly, it is also the responsibility of the carriers to release change log information, but all too many of them are rather lax on that point. But, that thread I linked for you above has I believe some very good information that might help you in your quest. You also should seek out other threads here (and elsewhere) on similar topics.

And, should I upgrade the BlackBerry USB Driver / USB Serial Driver / Device Manager / Desktop Manager software on my XP Pro SP 3 PC to the most recently available versions? (screenshots in 1st post show all the current version #'s ... this software was all installed circa mid-2009)
Or, is there some advantage in upgrading only to certain BlackBerry software version levels for each of the items referenced above ... in the case of this particular device?
The Desktop Software does not care about the specific device. Rather, it provides certain capabilities that you must choose from. For instance, if you need the ability to export from your BB to CSV/ASCII, then you need to stay behind in the version 6 range as that function was removed from version 7. Likewise, if you are intending to synchronize your BB with a desktop PIM (e.g., Outlook), you need to ensure that you are running a Desktop Software version that is compatible with your PIM:
KB12268Synchronization support for BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
If neither of those are important and/or compatibility is fine with the latest version, then it's usually wisest to stick with the latest version for bug fixes, feature enhancements, etc. That is not to say that folks don't have problems with the latest version...perusing the Desktop Software board on this site will bear that out quite quickly indeed! But, by and large, there should be no harm/no foul to using the latest Desktop Software version with your BB.
Further, it's always a good idea to also download and install to your PC the BB OS package that is actually running on your BB. Doing this somewhat customizes the Desktop Software so that it can best work with your specific BB environment. You cannot pick and choose what components within the Desktop Software you wish to upgrade (that "line item" mention you made)...rather, you install the entire package, and it contains within it whatever it has as "current" based on the overall version of the Desktop Software package.
    Hope that helps! Good luck!

  • Copy an email manually from Outlook 2003 SP3 to Tour 9630

I have a Tour 9630 v5.0.0.591 (Bundle 1059, BES Platform 4.2.0.284) on the Verizon network.  My emails stopped being delivered to the Tour, so I had to perform an Enterprise Activation, which was successful.  I am now receiving emails on the Tour, but I can't get any of the older ones to be delivered to my Tour that are in Outlook 2003 when I synchronize.  Is there a manual method to "drag and drop" via a file explorer/manager concept?  Or any other way of accomplishing this?  Thank you.

I purchased and downloaded eMailchemy from WeirdKid Software and it worked great. It is a native Mac application that converted some 85,000 emails along with attachments and entire mailbox hierarchy intact from Outlook 2003 for Windows .pst format stored on my Mac into archive mail files for Entourage for Mac. This was exactly what I needed and well worth the $28.00 to get it done right the first time, even if I don't need the software anymore.
Just wanted to let you know in case someone else ran across a similar requirement.

  • BB Tour 9630 not tethering in Win8 CP; BB DM 7 Not installing on Win7SP1 x64

    First the Win8 issue:
I can install and run Desktop Manager 7(DM7) in Win8 CP x64 just fine and dandy. The problem is that the phone refuses to connect to the internet via USB tether. In Device manager, under Modems, a Standard Modem entry is there and I check its settings (more on that later). I click on the Query Modem option, but I get repeated error messages about how the modem is unresponsive, etc. I have done everything except take a sledge hammer to my phone and system, but still nothing.
    It gets better:
My wife's PC is Win7 Pro SP1 x64 and her phone (also a Tour 9630) and mine BOTH tether just fine and dandy, thank you (as a matter-of-fact, I am writing this while tethered). I have compared every single setting on her PC and mine and can verify that all settings are the same. Querying the modem yields expected results.
    Stranger yet:
OK, so I figure maybe it just won't work in Win8 at the moment, I am dual-booting Win7/8 on my machine, and I know that, for whatever reason, tethering stopped working on my Win7 machine long ago. I figured that somehow the system got botched, so I decided to reinstall Win7 Pro x64 SP1 on my machine and then install DM7. The problem is that during the install process, the install manager says that the installation will be halted because the installation files could not be verified! WTF? I have downloaded the DM7 software twice and still nothing.
Now, the reason I am tethering in the first place is because AT&T decided to cut-off both phone AND DSL service when I ported my number to Ooma VoIP, and Comcast won't be out here until the 15th! In otherwords, we have ZERO broadband capability outside of tethering at the moment.
I tried using her phone on my PC but still saw the same results...failure.
In DM7, I setup the Mobile Internet options and choose Verizon Wireless as the carrier.
I also cannot setup a connection manually as it still fails (probably because the modem is not 'on'). Ironically, Device Manager states that the device is working properly and there are no conflicts that I can see!
PS: I read a post on here that talked about how to resolve the validation issue I am having, but I guess if one doesn't have internet access, it won't work (yeah I tried it and the certificate won't install/be verified).

    FOUND THE SOLUTION:
    http://tekblogs.com/tb/2007/08/18/vista-driver-problems-installing-a-usb-media-reader-a-solution/
My %SystemRoot%\INF folder was missing usbstor.inf.  By going to a file repository in the "Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" and finding usbstor host folders, i was able to get a previously used .inf file to point Windows in the right direction.
This is most definitely a *Windows* issue.  I had no troubles with upper and lower filters in the USB CLSID in the registry, so somehow the correct inf file was deleted and I was only able to find it in the repository.
Just a note: Roxio manager basically creates a virtual disk for its own internal use, using the RIM_USB.sys driver to communicate with the hardware.  CreateFileMapping system calls are used to map this device for reading/writing.  So Roxio can work without Windows explorer ever seeing it.  Windows NEEDS the usbstor.inf to be able to install the correct USB drivers in order to access the volumes on the BB.
A moderator should sticky or tag this post, because this issue is very widespread and I only found the solution after 2 weeks of searching.

  • Problem - Can't make phone calls with my new Tour 9630

I just bought a new phone - Tour 9630.  Its a brand new phone on Sprint.
Now I am in India using this phone on Vodafone and all the services are on, I can send and receive emails, texts, go to websites and download stuff BUT I cant make any calls from that phone.
Everytime I try making a call, it just disconnects after 2 seconds as if it was not registering anything.
    What I tried:
Change the mobile connection to GSM only and hard reset the phone - DID NOT WORK
I tried calling service provider who mentioned all my services are working fine
I tried changing the sim card on the new phone - DID NOT WORK
I used my Vodafone sim in another - Works fine but not on the new phone.
I called blackberry support at vodafone - they say I might have to update the OS, which does not sound as music to my ears because this a new phone.
I rebooted the phone million times - DID NOT WORK
I wiped the phone and reinstalled everything - DID NOT WORK
Checked and changed all the setting and tried making calls - DID NOT WORK
Anything you could do to please help me so that I can make phone calls will be highly appreciated.

My issue has been taken care of. It seems that Sprint has had an issue with the phone number prefix 238 in the 24151 zipcode. I ended up having to change my phone number and put my phone number under a new zipcode. It all works awesome again. Thanks.

  • Blackberry Tour 9630 won't receive text messages

I know the Blackberry Tour 9630 is ancient, but I'm still using mine.  The other day, however, it quit receiving text messages.  I can send them, but can't receive any.  I have done an internet search and it seems this problem was prevalent back in 2009 and I have tried everything that was suggested at that time to try and get it to receive text, but nothing has worked.
Since it is now 2014, I was wondering if Blackberry, or anyone for that matter, ever found a workable solution to this problem.  Everything else works great on my BB, but I depend a lot on text messaging.
    Thanks for any help

OK, since NOBODY bothered to reply, I'll tell you how I finally solved this problem (verizon tech support was no help) after hours and hours of phone support and checking settings on the blackberry and in Gmail.
On your desktop or handheld internet browser open your gmail account
    Go to "Settings"
    Go to "Labels"
Scroll down until you see the label "All Mail"
Make sure the far right box "Show in Imap" is checked.
Then it'll download your messages to your Blackberry Tour 9360.
I am a GOD! At least to my wife.  That's what counts.

  • 8530 Curve vs Tour 9630

I have an 8530 and just inherited a Tour 9630. The Tour doesnt have wi-fi, but is that necessary? Which is a better phone?

    Hello twilson73,
Each BlackBerry have their differences and if you want to know what each device has, you can do a comparison here.
As for Wi-Fi, it's not necessary but a nice feature. You can use a Wi-Fi network to browse the web, stream videos or in the case you don't have network coverage to still use data for email, BlackBerry Messenger etc.
