Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

How do I import music from a flash drive that was formatted with a windows PC to my MacBook - the drive is showing it has over 3GB of info on it but none of the files are showing up in finder? I had backed up my iTunes library on the flash drive about a year and a half ago before I switched from a dell to a MacBook pro.

What I found works for me is to make sure iTunes keeps the music files organzied in the iTunes Media folder according to album, artists, etc. and that it copies the music files there when adding them to the library. That way, if something happens to the library, the raw files can always be re-imported again.

Can I move only my iTunes movies, not my iTunes music, onto a flash drive? And, is there a program (apart from iTunes) that can play movies on MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I need to free up space...
1) I have three series of a tv show on my itunes which are taking up loads of memory - see image - I want to move these movie files onto a Flash Drive. However I do not want to move my itunes Music onto the flash drive, only my Movies, and want to keep my music on my hard drive.

2) I have managed to copy the movie files onto the flash drive, however when I tried to play one to check that they were loaded properly it didn't have a program that could run the file (they have copied over in a m4V format). I went onto the App Store to see if there was something I could download, but all the apps were for creating DVD's, not simply playing them.

If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system. If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player. This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.

You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop. When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes. I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard. In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.

If the Apple Store Genuis says you can't sync music from an audio CD to your iPod (because it's too old), he or she is not much of a "genius."
That question is not even related to your iPod. First step is to "rip" the music CD into your iTunes library. Once the songs on the CD are in your iTunes library, they are like any other songs in your library, and you can sync them to your iPod as desired. NOTE: When you insert a music CD, it appears in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. If you do not see the sidebar (along left side of window), from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
It was the context of your original question, not the actual task. You can easily add songs files that are on a flash drive to your iTunes library. Open a window that shows the flash drive contents. Drag the song files from that window to the iTunes window, and drop them on your iTunes Music library. Or, use the command
iTunes menu bar -> File -> Add to Library...

First of all consolidate your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Attach your USB drive and copy over your iTunes folder. Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). ive been slowly transfering music from my old PC to a music library on my MBP. the weird thing is that on a fair number of folders, when they transfer, some songs seem to get left behind and not copied. i'll have an album with 11 tracks, and move it as usual to the flash drive, then when its gets loaded onto the mac three or four of them are gone. i must be really behind the times, because i cant fathom the file allocations that itunes uses. ill load the batman begins soundtrack folder into the music folder, and it will split it into to two separate files - one with the original folder title and another with the artist listed and consolidiating them manually doesnt work. it just resplits the **** thing - am i still to PC-if-fied?

if the answer to above question is no, you will have to start from scratch, i.e. no playcounts, ratings, playlists, etc. from your old library will be there.
assuming you have *copy files to ... when adding to library* checked in preferences > advanced, option-drag the folder containing your media files into an open iTunes window. iTunes will index the path to the location of the original files, but won't copy them physically.
btw, pointing *iTunes media folder location* to another spot will only tell iTunes where to put newly added content, not where the current content is.

How do I get my music from a flash drive onto my phone from itunes

I had a flash drive with all my music on it, I got the music into iTunes with no problems and when I plug my iPod into my computer iTunes syncs my music with no problem but when I try to get the music onto my iPhone it won't transfer. I have tried to sync the entire library, song by song, and by playlist but I'm unsuccessful. Also there are little exclamation marks "!" next to the songs in iTunes, I'm sure this has something to do with my problem I just don't know how to fix it. Any help would be great. Thank you

It sounds to me like the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" was turned off in the iTunes -> Advanced preferences when you added the tracks from the flash drive, so iTunes left them on the flash drive rather than copying them to your computer's hard drive. Get Info on any of the tracks and see where iTunes thinks they should be located. If they're pointing to the flash drive, check that preference.
If that is indeed the problem, you'll need to fix the location. You can do this track by track if there aren't too many, but if there are a number of them, it'll be easiest to remove them from the iTunes library, fix the above-mentioned preference, and add the tracks again. Or you can just keep the flash drive connected to your computer, but that's probably not ideal.

I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. All of my music was on a PC computer. I don't really know how to work with PCs but I am more than familiar with Macs. I have an iPhone with all of the grayed out music on it and they play fine. They play on the PC too. But when I transferred them over, they just won't play. There is also a little cloud with an arrow pointing downward which I thought meant download.
So I read another thread that said to log out of itunes and this would be fixed. I logged out and back in again and now the grayed out music is GONE. Just gone. I have everything on a flash drive still, so no big deal but is there a way I can get all of the music to download? And not be grayed out this time?

You can't do it directly, you will need to copy them to a computer first e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc., whatever the app that you using supports. The iPad's camera connection kit which has a USB connection only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, you can't copy any content off the iPad with it.
