Transfer Prior Year Asset to Multiple new assets

Hello friends,
We are required to breakdown one of our large Expansion Machinery Assets to multiple assets to reflect the main equipment purchased for the project.
There is a transaction in SAP (ABUMN) Transfer with-in Company Code.  I think this transaction will work OK, EXCEPT for the following issue:
The Old Asset currently has a book life of 8 years.  When we break this asset down, there are a few peices of equipment that we would like to depriciate at 12 years.
If we use Transaction ABUMN (Transfer) the transation will automatically move the % of depr allocation to the $ transfered based on book life of the old asset (8 years).  What this will do is show the new asset (that has a book life of 12 years) as being over depriciated.
When this project is completed and the assets have been changed, I would like to show an adjustment in Depriciation Expense.
I am not sure as to which transaction ABAA or ABMA to be used to adjust the depreciation. Or is that I need to tackle this differently.
Please advise.

Umesh Gothankar

Dear Friends,
Thank you for spending time on my request. As a solution. I have used write-up in Asset Accounting to adjust the additional depreciation which was generated  due to change in the useful life of Asset. I have still not done the changes in production system. Can anyone of you please confirm what I have done is correct. so that I can replicate this in our production system.

Umesh

  • How to differentiate migrated assets and newly purchased assets?

    Hello Experts,
I would like to make a report for fixed assets, and that report has a field for beginning balance.
I have a question on this beginning balance field.
As you know, we have migrated fixed assets from legacy system and new assets that are purchased at SAP system.
When I make above report, how do I differentiate migrated assets and newly purchased assets from the beginning balance point of view?
Please let me know the database fields to classify above two things.
    Thanks.
    BR,
    Chris

    Hello Lakshmaiah and Ajay,
The reason we want to have this kind of report is that this one is for tax reporting.
As Ajay mentioned, SAP standard asset reports like S_ALR_87011990 is good but they are not enough.
When I looked around some tables related to fixed asset values, I found out there are 2 fields might be related to above questions.
    They are ANLC-KANSW and ANLC-ANSWL.
There is no value at ANLC-KANSW field in SAP cut-over year if it is new asset, and ANLC-ANSWL has no value if it is migrated asset.
I guess if I use above 2 fields, I might be able to classify two things.
Do you guys agree with me?
    Thanks.

  • Transfer of existing assets to new asset class

    Hello Experts,
We are working in a one-year old implementation of SAP ECC 6.0. A need has raised which is forcing us to transfer an asset with some Depreciation areas (we are currently working with ten areas between Real Depreciation Areas and Derived Depreciation Areas) to a new asset belonging to a new asset class with fewer areas.
We created the new Asset Class and tested in the quality environment using transaction ABUMN. An example was transferring an asset with two months of depreciation already posted and transferring this one to the new asset at the beginning of the next month.
The main issue is that we desire that the original asset keeps posting depreciation for the areas that are not transferred. Unfortunately, in our tests in the quality environment we have not accomplished this, what the system does is transfer the values to the new asset and then when you run transaction AFAB the new asset does post depreciation in the fewer areas that the Asset Class it is assigned to has but the original asset does not post any depreciation in any area.
We tried maintaining the Transaction Types for Transfers that were used by the system by deselecting the 'Deactivate fixed asset' but it did not work and then we tried creating our own Transaction Types but this also was of no use.
Hope you can shed some light into the issue!

    Dear Sankar,
Thanks for such a quick reply. I have already considered that (SAP forcing you to transfer the whole asset) as a possibility. Unfortunately, as I have already mentioned here at our implementation we need something like this to happen.
Let me elaborate. For the fiscal Depreciation Areas we are required to keep the original information on the asset so that the depreciation that is calculated does not change but conversely for the other areas we desire to change the depreciation that is calculated and posted (for example, some assets will suffer a change in the useful life others might merge into one big asset, etc.) but what we definitely need is to keep the original information in the fiscal areas so we can keep reporting that and therefore can keep paying the correct amount to our local tax authorities.
As I mentioned before I have already considered that as an option. So what we thought was duplicating the assets (through a mass charge of all our assets with the current values), then transferring the 'clones' to assets with fewer Depreciation Areas (we will eliminate the Fiscal Areas since this new assets will be only useful for the non-fiscal depreciation calculation which is the one that will change).
To sum up: the clones will not generate depreciation because when transferred they will be worthless. The assets they were transferred to will generate the non fiscal depreciation.
And finally on the original assets we will deactivate the non-fiscal Depreciation Areas so that these assets continue to calculate the fiscal depreciation.
I would really appreciate your opinion on this strategy or if you think it is a bad or incorrect strategy I would appreciate even more an advise on this matter.
PS. a little doubt now also strikes me: what is the "Deactivate Fixed Asset" in the Transaction Type definition for?

  • Transfer assets collectively to new class and create new assets like ABUMN

We need to change the account determination for a few Asset Classes that already have assets with postings.  As a result we must create new asset classes and assign a new account determination.
Is there a program that would allow transfer assets collectively to a new asset class and create new assets automatically similar to ABUMN?  T-code ABUMN allows you to transfer multiple assets but you must create the new assets first.  ABUMN will transfer and create new asset but only does one asset at a time.
There are hundreds of assets with postings to be transferred from the old asset classes to the corresponding new asset classes.
Appreciate whatever input you can provide.

download the asset master data(original) and create new asstes using lsmw or any third party tool also.

  • Clearing of down payments on assets from prior year

    Hello,
we have the following problem with an Asset under Construction (AuC) that has been migrated from a legacy system with down payments in a prior year.
Migration has taken place in 2007 (within the year). The down payment has not been cleared in 2007, but left on the asset for 2008. The clearing of the down payment on vendor side has already taken place in 2007.
When the AuC shall now be settled to a final asset via AIBU, the error message AW605 "Down payment to recipient YYYY area 01 amount XXXX not cleared" appears.
When the down payment on the Asset under Construction shall be cleared first with transaction ABSO (TType 181 "Clearing of down payments from current year"), the following error message appears: AA571 "Not possible to post down payment clearing. There are no down payments".
In our SAP Version 6.0 there is NO transaction type "Clearing of down payments from prior year", though.
Would appreciate any indication how to deal with the issue now - do we need to create a special transaction type for this purpose? If yes, how to configure the settings so that SAP knows to clear down payments from prior year?
Thanks very much in advance for any help!
    Gabi

I replied to your second post
But my question is then how does the down payment appears in the CJI3 report
Also, I am aware of your initial post. I feel, the details you gave is insufficient. You have just said there are two down payments made against a PO one is reflecting in WBSE another one is not. It will be difficult for others to suggest you a proper solution, You will have to give more detials as how you made the two down payments and you should tell us apart from appearing in WBSE what are all the other differences ..etc., You should give as much details as possible.

  • Asset Transfer Report with matching new asset number

    Hi,
During the past week, our company transferred over 2000 assets from several companies to one company. As a result of the transfer, the tax depreciation keys and tax depreciation life weren't carried over to the new assets. I am wondering if anyone here know how can I generate a asset transfer report with one column listing all transferred out assets and another column listing matching transferred in assets? I used ZFI_INTERCOASTR- Intercompany Asset Transfer, it gave me a transfer report with all the transfer in and transfer out in one column.

    Hi,
you can create yourself an ABAP Query on logical database ADA. In node ANEK you have per each (transfer) transaction the information from which asset the transfer was done.  With the ABAP Query you can configure your output list completely flexible.

  • Transfer 1 asset to multiple assets

I'm looking for the functionality to transfer 1 asset to multiple assets in one in one transaction.  In transaction code ABUMN, there is a "multiple asset" functionality but it cannot be used to transfer 1 asset to multiple assets.  SAP will give an error message "You want to post a retirement to asset XXXXX. This is not possible, since a retirement was already posted to this asset in the current document."  Is there another transaction code to accomplish this or SAP don't provide this functionality?

  • Creation of Multiple Similar Assets

    Hi experts,
I need to ask if following is the best that can be done for splitting few assets of one class to another class or is a better solution exists for it Or is there any transaction/report that can create Multiple Similar Assets?
Currently, we have one asset class in which assets of two categories are created. We now need to split them to individual classes. For that we researched on how to transfer one category of multiple assets within a Company Code and found that there is a possibility of tranferring multiple assets through txn ABUMN.
The problem arises that we can only transfer asset to existing ones when the case is 'Multiple Assets Transfer', while we can create new Asset when the case is 'Single Asset Transfer'. WorkAround that we found is to first create Similar Assets in new Asset Class, record it and do it through LSMW for creation of assets in bulk.
Hope if anyone went through such situation and like to share his experience
    Thanks for reading

    Hi
I did not have such experience earlier but sure your workaround is perfect. Goahead.  Transaction code ABUMN is mainly for such transfers and/or asset class adjustments

  • Impairment in new asset fixed (FI-AA)

We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0  and IFRS scenario. We want posting impairment in a new asset, ABZU Transaction (write-up), in IFRS 60 valuation area. This posting doesnu2019t work because ABZU transaction required accumulate amortization.
How can we posting impairment in new asset.
Which transaction type we must be used?
Net book value positive in area 60 at fiscal year start
    Message no. AA647
    Asset affected: 000600300021-0001

    Dear Sider,
Transaction ABZU is used normally when you forgot to capitalize an asset in a fiscal year that is now closed. Also, there can be a case where depreciation you calculated in the past were too high. You must now correct this error using a write-up in the current fiscal year.
In your case, an impairment has to result in reduction in the book value of the asset and not a write-up.
The impairment can be done using Unplanned depreciation or Manual depreciation.
Once you enter the Unplanned depreciation, it will get posted after you do a regular AFAB depreciation run.
    Hope it solves your issue.

  • Issue in New Asset Accounting

    Hi Experts,
We have activated the new Asset accounting Datasource (0FI_AA_20) delivered as a part of EHP4 reporting financials.
Now ee have replicated the datasource in BW and the model is activated.
    The model contains 2 cubes: 1 Basic(C20) and 1 Virtual (R20)
Now there's a standard SAP delivered query - " Inventory List".
After loading data into the basic cube, when we executed the query by routing it to basic cube, it showed data in the query.
However when we routed the query through vurtual cube R20, to get the real time data, it showed error - " Fiscal year variant not present".
When we checked at ECC in Table T001, for the required company code the Fiscal year variant is mentioned as V3.
We don't understand tht where is the query checking for the fiscal year variant?
    Plesase suggest

    Hi Debanshu:
Take a look at SAP Note 1484587 - "DataSource 0FI_AA_20: Current year is ignored"

  • New-Asset Report - awesome, but can't get it to run?

Howdy - I am trying to run the awesome new-asset report that Zachary Loeber shared with the technet community.
    The script is here:  http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Excel-and-HTML-Asset-0ffbf569
However I can't get it to run against 1 server or multiple servers.
I followed this information someone else asked and I get back many errors, all related to the parameters.
Can someone help me out with this?
    A. Should this be saved as a function? And then I've read conflicting or maybe different ways to run a function.  Should I do import-module or just run the script as a single command line, and I've had this issue with other functions.  Should they
be put in a specific location on my system?  I'm newbie, so thanks for the help!
    B.  When I run this, I've tried using this simple command:  .\New-AssetReport.ps1 -Computers testserver1.domain.local -PromptForCredentials -Verbose
    C.  Then I tried this example as well from a single line or creating another ps1 script, fails either way.
    D.  What variables are required to be filled in, and what parameters are available such as report type, include memory, but not disk, etc?
Here's the error if I enter the command like this:  .\New-AssetReport.ps1 -Computers testserver1 -PromptForCredentials -Verbose

  • New Depreciation Area in Asset Master Data, for assets under construction.

    Hi,
The issue is relating to New Depreciation area. We have created new Depreciation area as 80=IFRS.  We had followed three steps
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program RAFABNEW :-
3.1 u2013 Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.  Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
In this we have find that the old assets value has been copied. But when we are doing internal order settlement through KO88 i.e. from pre-cap to AUC we are not finding new Depreciation area 80=IFRS in AUC. We had checked in AW01N.
Letu2019s assume that creating a new deprecation area is normally not required since these assets are not depreciated. But During the final settlement, the new depreciation area should also automatically supplied with values from the reference depreciation area from the AUC(assets under construction) in the completed assets. But we doesnu2019t find any values of in Dep Key = 80 IFRS for final assets.
In Assets Class of AUC we had used  Investmnet Measure as Status of AUC.
Kindly provide solution for the same.
    Nikhil

Check Transfer Variant 5 (under Transactions->Intercompany Asset Transfers->Automatic Intercompany Asset Transfers->Define Transfer Variants):
    5     Investment measure settlement
Your Transfer Method is most likely 1 now (without transfer to dependant areas), change it to:
4     Gross method with transfer of values to dependent areas
    This should help.

  • Chapter Problem with Multiple Timeline Assets

Using Premiere Pro 2.0 and DV assets exported from Premiere.
Normally I just create a single export out of Premiere and all works well. This time I decided to try a different workflow, taking advantage of Encore's ability to add multiple assets to the same timeline. This way, I figured, if any changes are needed, only one part will have to be reexported and retranscoded, instead of the whole thing.
So the first asset places in the timeline OK. The second asset generates a warning message, asking me if I want to "replace existing chapters with source marker in the asset".
Now first of all, there are no existing chapters in the section of timeline where the new asset is being added, so I don't know why it's asking if I want to replace them. But that's a minor annoyance. The real problem is that all the chapter markers in the second asset, whether I click Yes or Cancel in response to the warning, end up squished towards the beginning of the second asset. The first chapter marker is correct, and all chapter markers thereafter are redistributed 12 frames apart from there. I only noticed this when I expanded the timeline view.
I thought maybe I had exported from Premiere incorrectly, but if I remove the first asset and place the second asset in the timeline first, the chapters appear where they should. It seems that any asset after the first exhibits this squished marker syndrome, and I don't have a clue why, or how to fix it.
    Anyone have any ideas here?

OK, I just tried replacing the middle timeline clip here. Logistically, it works.
    Here's what I did.
    1. New project. Add 3 pre-transcoded elementary mpeg and ac3 streams to the timeline.
    2. Check project.
    3. Fix the reported error about gaps between clips. Unfortunately, I had to move the 3rd clip 12 frames away from the 2nd clip. This will introduce a 12-frame gap between clips. I did not try to build with the error uncorrected. NB: There was no gap error concerning the boundary between clips 1 and 2, so I expect the problem is clip specific.
    4. Build a disc image. All of the audio was ac3, and with the different audio clip lengths (all less than 1/2 second difference), Encore re-transcoded the audio, and only the audio. My suggestion here is to use .wav files only.
    5. Use File>Replace Asset to replace the middle clip audio and video streams with new, shorter ones.
    6. Trim out the danger stripes in the timeline and butt the video and audio of the 3rd clip perfectly up against the end of the middle clip.
    7. Check project. No gap error this time.
    8. Build disc image.
I mounted each image in turn and played them in WinDVD. They played as expected. I cannot speak to how truly seamless the playback is because all of the clips I have for testing fade to black at the end. But WinDVD did not hesitate when going from clip to clip and there were no freeze frames that I could see.
So upgrading to CS3 will let you do what you want. It may be a perfect solution, and it may not, but it is certain to be better than what you get from En 1.5 going from timeline to timeline.

  • Transferring from one asset to multiple assets

    Dear SAPians
How can we transfer from one asset to more than one assets. Can we do it thru ABUMN or there's any other way?
    Regards
    Zain

    Hi Dominic,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have tried ABUMN. I am entering into the transaction ABUMN and specifiying transaction data (posting and asset value dates). Then I am pressing the "Multiple assets" button after which a List option is available.
I am entering the amount or percentage in partial tranfer tab.
Then I am entering asset numbers in 'from asset' and 'to asset' fields like:
    From asset 300000001 to 300000005
    From asset 300000001 to 300000007
When I am pressing enter, it accepts only one entry from above specified list.
That means it allows only one to one asset transfer not one to many. Is there any other setting or way to do asset tranfer from one asset to multiple assets?
    regards
    Zain
