Hi rosie1157,
If your new device is Windows Phone 8 (Lumia 920, 820, 620, Etc.) you can transfer your SMS via Bluetooth using the Transfer My Data app. Just download it to your phone and follow the on screen instructions.
However, if you are using a Windows Phone 7.5/7.8 device, transferring SMS is not possible.

  • Problem: Transfer SMS from N9 to Lumia 630

    Hi there,
I'm having problems transfering my SMS messages from my old N9 to my Lumia 630.
    1. Transfer my Data does not work: It finds the messages and pictures but then it gets interrupted and I get the message on the Lumia 630: "No Connection - If it's not clear why these problems...". It CAN transfer the pictures, however.
    2. I have transferred messages to the computer from the N9 - both in a CSV file and also every message separately. Is there a way I could import them to the Lumia this way? PC Suite doesn't seem to work with the Lumia - it doesn't recognize the device.
    3. Are there any other ways this could be done?
    I am running Windows 7 64-bit.
    Cheers!

  • Transfer sms from ios 4 to 6

    is there any application like
    http://www.backuptrans.com
to transfer sms from ios 4 to ios 6 without any problem on PC ?

Yes, it will work as the backup is not iOS dependant. If you take a backup with iOS 4 & upgrade your device to iOS 6, it will not restore your OS to 4 in case you use that backup.

  • HT4623 Transfer SMS from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5

I have just bought the new iPhone 5 and I am having problems transferring my SMS from my iPhone 4.
My iBook is too old to plug in my iPhone 5 so I have had to use my parents laptop instead.
Can anyone tell me if my old SMS can be transferred to my new phone and if so how can I do this?
I have tried, but have had no luck

To transfer sms, photos, contacts and apps from one iPhone 4 to iPhone 5:
    1. Connect two iPhone to PC.
    2. Choose the category list of iPhone 4 that you need to export files
    3. Check the files that need to export in the Content Panel and click "Transfer file(s) from device to device" button
    4. All the checked files from your iPhone 4 can be transferred to iPhone 5.

  • Transfer SMS (from Nokia N97) to Nokia N900

    Hey guys,
I wonder if there is a possibility to transfer my old SMS (from a Nokia N97) to my Nokia N900? Sadly (for SMS) you can not use the transfer function or the PC Suite. Does anyone have a solution? Copying the SMS from SIM card to the device is really no use, I have approx. 800+ SMS which I really would like to have on my N900.
    Thanks, I'd appreciate the help...

Have a look through the talk thread link I posted above.. Remember, you can backup your device before you start and there are plenty of details here about how you restore from a backup and even a "bricked" device here..
I'll see if I can make a walk through too.. I'll post details back here

  • Transfer SMS from folders in 6230 to E71

hi, till now i was using the 6230 and have recently bought an E71. i have managed to transfer everything including SMS from the inbox but have NOT been able to transfer the messages saved in a folder on the 6230, nor am i able to move the messages back to the inbox in the 6230. i hope i'm clear with my query.. can someone pls help??

    Hi
you can also use the Lifeblog application to backup all your multimedia items from the phone. install the S60 client, install the PC client and just press the Sync button. all your pics, videos, SMS/MMS will be backep up to your PC (to be able to sync, you still need PC Suite)
    http://www.nokia.com/lifeblog
the 6300 doesn't support Lifeblog, but what i proposed is an alternative solution to the Content Copier proposed earlier (in case Content Copier fails, you still have them on PC)
or you can simply try to move all your SMS to the MMC (memory card) and then check the compatibility with your new 6300
    cheers

  • Transfer SMS from old Symbian to WP7 - A Workaroun...

    Hey Folks,
I recently bought a new Lumia 800. Unfortunately it is not possible to migrate SMS from my old Nokia 5800 to my new device directly.
The information I've gathered led to the conclusion, that isn't possible to access the SMS storage of WP7. Even developers can't. Consequently there is no direct migration tool (yet).
But my researches led to a workaround solution, which makes it possible to have your old SMS accessible on your new phone.
The general idea is to export the old text messages and store them in the windows live account as e-mails.
    How to go about it:
Connect your old phone via Nokia Suite with your PC
Use the Back-Up Function, which creates an "nbu" File, that can be used to restore your data
    Download NBU-Explorer (http://sourceforge.net/projects/nbuexplorer/)
Open the Back-Up File (nbu) with the NBU Explorer
Extract your SMS-Folders as VMG Files
    Download ABC Amber Nokia Converter
Open the extracted VMG Files with the converter
Select all and click on "Save selected messages as EML..."
    Open Windows Live Mail (http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials)
Log in to you Hotmail/Live Account
Create a new folder "SMS" (or how whatever is convenient for you)
Drag the EML Files into your Folder
Wait until Windows Live Mail has processed the files
    you're done!
Now you can open the Hotmail Account on your Windows Phone and read your old SMS.
Maybe you have to change the syncing options, that all messages are being downloaded. The default setting is that only messages from the past 7 days are downloaded
I know that this is not very elegant at all, but if you have important SMS that you need to access on your mobile device, then this is the best solution. Or is there a better one? Feel free to comment!

Given the lack of saving text messages, there is a touch of brilliance in your solution.
I would like to save a message to send quickly, a feature that have been found on the most basic of phones,
    I used to have:
    Im stuck in traffic
    I will be home soon
Put the dinner in the dog I will be late
Im at the pub come get me
Just a few handy time saving things.
If a smart phone is smart, why is mine so dumb

  • Cannot transfer sms from n96 to PC

Hi, I have tried everything to try and get my messages from my n96 onto my computer.
i am connected via bluetooth and contacts and  calender sync fine, but all the sms folders read 0. ive tried backing up everything on the phone too but everything else backs up but not messages.
i only started trying to do this when my phone started popping up "memory low" warnings a few nights ago so haven't really done this.
ive got old firmware, cause the stupid thing is locked to telstra (Aus telco company) but im using the latest pc suite and tried OVI too.
please help me, anything lol. ive tried backing up onto mem card but it pops up saying not enough memory, close some programs then try again, but i don't have anything open. ive tried changing the mem storage to mass memory too but that doesn't move all my old messages there.
    please, somebody help

This does seem to be a major problem with backing up and data transfers, the "My Folders" are ignored...  I am amazed at the lack of foresight here, because when you have an important SMS you will want to save it, the important SMS are therefore saved into "My folders", hence all the important SMS are going to be in "My Folders", with the inbox, sent etc folders being only the most recent, and least significant SMS.  If you are going to want to transfer SMS between phones, it is therefore the "my folders" SMS that will be the SMS to transfer, not the inbox/sent etc SMS. This is compounded by the inability to move SMS from the saved folders back to the folders available for Synch / backup.  I would suggest that the planners of these software directions need sacking, such is their lack of understanding!

  • How transfer SMS from 6680 to N80?

Hi, how i can transfer 3.000 sms from MMC of 6680 to SD of N80? I have copied the files but when i try to read the N80 freeze.
    Help me.
    Thanks

this can be done easily. My first question is are you trying to restore the SMS from a backup or from the mail folder in your memory card? The easiest way is to copy from the mail folder of the MMC to the same mail folder of your SD. Restoring from a backup I don't have any faith in the backup utility so I don't know about it

  • Transfer SMS from old to new iPhone

I have a new iPhone, but during initial setup I did not restore from a backup but chose to do a clean setup. Now I want to move my SMS text messages stored in the old iPhone to my new iPhone. I identified the file where the messages are stored (3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28 .mddata) but replacing it in a backup of the new iPhone and then restoring doesn't help (restore error).
How can I manage to have my old messages on my new iPhone? Any help to the above or a software tool somewhere?? (there are many to backup but here it is to also transfer!)

It is my intention to only transfer the SMS messages. I want to avoid to transfer all kind of old caches, temporary files, old passwords etc. I want a clean system, and my messages. Is there any way to do this (not using iTunes backup/restore)?

  • Transfer SMS from old Nokia to iPhone through SIM

    Hi all,
I need to transfer some important SMSs (text messages) from my old Nokia N73 phone to my new iPhone 3G v2.1. I have been able to copy them onto my SIM card (I am on O2 in the UK) but cannot get these off the SIM and onto the iPhone (although I know there is an option for this for phonebook contacts)?
Is there any way to do this please?
FYI I do not have a Mac, but a PC running Windows XP.

Sorry to add this to an existing question - but might be another way round if an answer can be found!
I have moved some old SMS to PC Nokia suit and I want to move them to my new 3G iphone - anyone any ideas how this can be done?

  • Transfer sms from BB9500 to sim card

    Hi there,
Does anyone know how to transfer all text messages currently stored on a BlackBerry 9500 to the sim card ?
I have a Blackberry Storm 9500 with OS = v4.7.0.78. I have figured how to store new text messages to the sim card but not how to transfer, or copy, old text message to the sim card.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey cluxy33,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the questions.
There is no built-in feature to save SMS messages to the sim card.  You can backup your SMS messages to your computer and restore them at a later date.
    I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
