Copy the entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods discussed here: iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer.  If you no longer have the old computer and you have to transfer it from your phone, you will have to purchase and use third-party software to extract the music from your phone, such as Touch Copy  or CopyTrans.

  • Transferring iphone music to the new itunes library

I recently had to re-boot my computer, without saving any of my music onto a hardrive, however the music remains on my iphone. Does anyone know a way to get the music from my iphone to the newly installed itunes library? Thankyou

Lol ok first of all im completely hopeless at computers!
Basically my computer had a massive virus on it, so my brother (without telling me) did something to remove the virus, but with it, it deleted all of the data of the computer. So i had to download Itunes again. So you see no music had been saved on a different hardrive and the only music I do have is all on my iphone.
Thanks so much for responding so quickly!

  • Transferring non-purchased music from Ipod to ITunes Library

Can I transfer my music from my Ipod into my ITunes Library I just created on my new laptop? I've been successful at transferring the Purchased Music, but not the music I've downloaded from my CD's into my the ITunes library on my old computer.

Hi .. we do this all the time..if its downloaded music put your music into a folder.. then use the drop down "file" menu and import the folder...its really easy..but you also have to create a path for your music..this is done via "edit" drop down /preferences/advanced.. and tell it where your music folder is... other wise your music wont play... if you are using your own cd,s its even easier just put cd in.. tick selected songs.. and import cd

  • How do i tranfer my old music onto a new itunes library without it erasing?

I have an Ipod Nano second generation full-up with music - these MP3s are NOT Itunes but downloaded from various sites as well as uploads from CDs.  I lost my original Itunes library when my computer crashed about a year ago so I've had nothing to connect my Ipod to to sync up or anything.  I recently purchased an Iphone 4S and I want to transfer the music from my old Nano to my new Iphone but every time I try to sync up it tells me that my computer isn't authorized and won't upload all my music.  I have "given" authorization by going to "Store, Authorize" but it still doesn't work.  I'm terrified of erasing 5 years of gathered music!!!  Can anyone help me?

  • Porting music to a new itunes library

    Hi People,
I have a query about transferral of a 95 GB mp3 library from Music Match 7 to itunes. I am a mac user and have been asked to restructure the music programming of a hotel here in Brazil. I have installed itunes into the PC setup here and want to import and reorganise the library using itunes with which I am more familiar. Does anyone have any tips about how I can do this neatly? I am working with a PC formatted HD which is not readable by my mac as it is formatted for their PC setup. However, I have been accessing it via their network and can access the files OK. I am facing issues such as:
Album artwork in artist folders- would I have to add these one by one to the itunes artwork after importing? (There are 748!).
I want to keep my G4’s itunes library intact, would I have to create a new library file for the Hotel’s programming? How would this be stored?
The hotel’s idea is for my to place all the audio and the daily playlists I have programmed onto a 40GB ipod in the hotel. Is there anything I should condider in particular regarding this?
I am wary that with these huge folders of (often disorganised) files I will probably need to be heavy handed at times. Could I use automator to deal with any of this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Ben, Brazil (where nobody uses macs!!)

  • Transfering songs from ipod to a new itunes library

my dad accidently deleted my itunes library and i dont know how to transfer the songs from my ipod to a new library without deleting the songs off my ipod. how do you transfer the songs from your ipod to the itunes library with the songs that were not purchased from itunes?

1). If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

  • Moving music off ipod into new itunes library

My laptop was destroyed in a house fire along with my back up itunes disks, though i had my 80GB ipod clasic with me (as usual). I now have a new laptop but i don't know how to move music off my ipod into my new itunes library, or even if it is possible. please help, i want to put new music onto my ipod without losing what is already there. Thanks Heaps

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Downloading my ipod's music into new iTunes library

I was forced to ghost my computer, and reload the OS, and in doing so obviously lost my original iTunes library. Now iTunes will not load any of my songs that I did not purchase from the iTunes store into my new iTunes library. All of the music I am trying to upload is from my personal CD collection. Is there any way I can transfer the songs from my iPod to my iTunes library without downloading each CD into iTunes via CD drive? thanks

  • Can music already on an ipod be added to a new iTunes library ?

Hi Everyone - I recently purchased a laptop but have a dilemma with my iTunes libraries and iPods. My Nano was synched to my iTunes library on desktop PC, then I synched new classic iPod to same library, therefore both iPods had same music on them. I then set up iTunes on laptop and added some new music into the new library but then tried to merge Classic iPod (with old music) with new music in new library, but all it would allow was to synch them. This caused the problem I need help with as when synching, old music is erased and replaced with new music.
Is there any way of adding old music on an iPod to a second (new) iTunes library on a different computer ??
If there is, can you tell me step by step how to, as I'm still a novice with these things !!
    Many thanks,
    SC

This is copied from another thread. I think it is pretty clear. Here is the link to the thread as well. You will need to do this for each device if they all have different content on them.

    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
If you have more questions, post back.

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.
