Transferring Custom Master-Page, Custom Page Layouts and Pages created to a new SharePoint Site.

Hi All,
I have a SharePoint 2013 Publishing Site for testing named 'Test'. In the Test I have created a Custom Master-Page and several Custom Page Layouts. Also using them I have created several pages. Now they all are connected to the navigation. Now I want
to transfer all the pages, custom master-page and custom page layouts to a new site (a publishing site) that will be used as production. Will I able to do this or not. Please advice me with best practices.

thanks for posting your query, The master page can't be copied in designer and pasted into the new site collection. A better approach would be to bundle it into a feature and deploy it to the farm where it can't be activated and used.
If you want to copy your master page to another site collection you can download your master page from the master page gallery and upload it to the the master page gallery of the second site collection. From the root site Site Actions > Site Settings
> (Galleries)Master pages and page layouts
If you want to deploy the same master page to multiple site collections using a feature, create a module in Visual Studio, add your custom master page to the module, and create an element manifest something like this:

The basic idea is to have your site-scoped feature include a module that copies your custom master page from the file system to the masterpage gallery. Since the feature folder is shared, the same master page gets copied to the site collection master page
gallery whenever you activate the feature.

When trying to open a link in the page I am on and open it in a new Tab the browser stops responding.

I open the browser and the Hime Page opens as expected. When I open a link to an item or article on the page in a new Tab Firefox stops responding and thye top line on the screen shows that to be the case. The only way to resolve the issue is to exit or close Firefox and start again. This has just started yesterday (Oct 12) as before that the process worked fine.
When I open a new Tab and then type in a new web site it will open and allow access with no problem, provided I have not open a link as outlined in the first paragraph. I can open several tabs in this manner and Firefox works as expected. But if I try to link from any page and open in a new Tab i get the "not responding" situation again.
After closing Firefox so I can restart it, the browser will open but the first screen will be a blank tab rather than my home page. I can open web sites and Firefox proceeds as expected as long as I do not try to open a link from within the page in a new Tab. I get the same "Not responding" situation.
If I immediately close Firefox after it opens without my homepage and then restart it then my home page will open as expected.
I have not made any changes to programs or setups in Firefox or on my computer in the immediate time before the problem started.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

I recently (after upgrading to Mavericks) installed Pages 5.0 (iWorks ’09 with Pages 4.3 was already installed on my Macbook). When I try to open a pages document, I sometimes get the message 'you need a newer version of Pages to open this document.' When I ctrl-click the pages document and select the program Pages 5.0, the document opens in Pages '05. Other Pages documents open in Pages 4.3. How do I select Pages 5.0 as default program to open my documents? And how do I do that, since pages preferences do not give that possibility? And can I delete pages 4.3 after making pages '05 the default. Or is there another way to solve this?

Using Get Info to change all documents to open with Pages 4.3 doesn't work. It will work on individual files, but that could be a lot of files to reset.
This is what works for me. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "other applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder & renamed the applications Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages & Numbers running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3 or Numbers 2.3. This should also keep the Mac App Store from nagging you to update. Others have renamed the '09 iWork apps & set them as default.

How to sign a pdf file and save it directly back to sharepoint site?

I own a Sharepoint site for testing. It is installed in my computer with Sharepoint 2010 (WSS). What I want to do is to find a way to achieve a signing function for pdf file type on sharepoint.
By refer to this site below, the site has been able to recognize pdf file type and open it and edit it directly on the sharepoint site.

I can edit the pdf file by checking out and then the modification will be save directly back to the pdf file in the shared document library when I am done. Now the problem is, I cannot save the pdf directly back to sharepoint after I inserted a digital signature
to the pdf file.
Everytime I inserted a digital signature to the pdf file, a "save as..." window would pop up and asked me to save the signed pdf file as another file in my local computer, so the changes were not applied to the original pdf file on the shared document library
of my sharepoint site. I have to upload the local signed version back to the site and replace the old one manually.

According to my analysis, for Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. Now, when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file
is already checked out. If not, the user will be prompted to check it out. When digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file in Acrobat X, Version 10.0, the user would be prompted to save that file locally and would then need to upload it separately to SharePoint
as a new version.

How can I merge documents with layout written with pages? How can I copy pages-document with layout and paste it into another pages document?

I am working with pages for a book and have made already a layout whre photos and graphs etc. are partly outside of the area for the text, their posotion is not fixed the the text.
And now I nedd support: When I add text or a photo to the layout the text moves and the unfixed photos etc. keep there position. This means I have to update each photo or graph to shift it to the new position ore I have to place photos etc. within the frame of the text, which is not the kind of layout I am going for.
I hope for two reliefs, which I do not know how to realize it.
1. If I specify each chapter as a new partition starting with own page (then I hoped) the new section would shift together into a new page and the positions of photos etc. and text would stay fix. But unfortunately this seeems not to be the case. Question: is this possibe orno? If yes, how to do it?
I could divede the whole txt chapter by chapter into individual documents, which are seperatly created and worked. At the end I would have to merge all this document into one. Is it possibe to merge different pages-document into one document?
Who can help me?

Images and other object can either be floating or be inline. Yours are floating and will not move with the text. Inline object will move with the text but can't be outside the text layer. It doesn't help if you have created section in the document. Floating images doesn't care. Nor will it help if you create several documents that you want to merge later. Doesn't make any difference.
My suggestion is that until your text is finished you have the images inline. Then as a last editing you can start make the images floating and move them a little.

I want to make customer master transportation zone field to be optional entry.I did necessary changes in OBD2,OB20 and OVT0.After making optional entry in all area it is been with grey mode that is not editable.But if I change as required entry then it is changed as required field that is editable mode.But I need only optional entry.Can any one help me on this...

IPad 5.0 and Pages 1.7; Maverick and Pages 5.0

Recently, I upgraded to Maverick and the latest version of Pages.   I have been using my iPad I with iOS 5.X., and saving documents to my iCloud. This allows me to work on documents either on my desktop or iPad. This is no longer true. Now, documents created on Maverick using Pages 5 I cannot read on my iPad because it requires the latest version of Pages (5) which requires iOS 7.   Of course, my iPad stopped at iOS 5.X.
I suppose the only work around is to return to an earlier version of Pages. I perform timed backups, and I could do this.   Is it possible to return to an earlier version of Pages in order to have the capability of viewing and working on documents created on my Desktop on my iPad?     You would think all documents created in Pages are readable by all versions of Pages. This is not so.
Is there anyone else with this the same setup with a better solution?

I took a while to figure this out after I got into the same mess. The new iWorks is a very bad downgrade. I have deleted Pages 5 from my Mac and gone back to Pages 4.3 (it is still there and was not removed when you updated to Pages 5.)
I then removed Pages 2 from my iPad and from iTunes.
I used TIme Machine to go back to ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications in September and found "Pages 1.7.2.ipa" and brought it forward to my desktop. I then droped it into the iTunes icon in the Dock and it reinstalled.
Hope this works for you.
Apple can now take as long as they need to correct all the mistakes they made with the current version of iWorks - I will not be upgrading again until they do.

Problems with error-page in web.xml and page caching

Having a few problems with error pages and web.xml with browsers caching the error pages and strange errors coming out of weblogic.servlet.intenal.WebAppServletContext
I'm trying to set a web app up so that all http errors and all exceptions are routed thruogh predefined resources. For now, I'm simply send 400 errors to 400.html and the ServletException, IOException and RuntimeException to respective html pages.
What I'm finding is that the error codes work fine but the exceptions are only be routed to the correct error page for the first call to the servlet after server restart.
So for example, I have my servlet throwing a ServletException as a test case. The weblogic server log shows that ServletException is thrown, and the correct error page for ServletExceptions is shown.
If I change the Servlet code to throw IOException in place of SevletException, the weblogic.log shows that IOExceptyion is being thrown (so the servlet has deployed successfully), however the Servletxception error page is shown on the browser.
I'm using IE6 and I've changed the setting such that a new page is requested every time using the tools-internet options-temp internet files-settings option to "check for new versions of stored pages: Every visit to the page".
Despite this, the servlet exception error page still appears.
If you clear the cache from the temp intenet files->delete files IE option, the correct errror page will be shown so it appears that the browser cache is being used after all.
everytime I delete the temp intenet files I get the correct error page on the first request after but then not after that.
I have implemented the service method for this test to throw the exceptions - does this make a differecne?
As a test, I have moved the imlpementation to the doGet method instead bu I now get a strange eror from weblogic comlpaining about an arrayOutOfBoundsException because eror codes in the web.xml are not supported! - see error above.

There are no problems with error pages based on error codes, only error exceptions.
As a test case, I have a service method in a servlet throwing either one of the three exception types that servlets can throw (Runtime, Servlet & IO) the following rules apply. The exception to be thrown is hardcoded and is changed and the web app rebuilt each time. The correct web.xml has been deployed to the app server (checked through console). the webapp is being redeployed correctly - this can be seen in the weblogic log, where the correct exception is reported.
I am using WLS 8.1, Servlet 2.3, JDK 1.4.1_02
In all cases, the weblogic log reports that the servlet is throwing the exception as expected.
Despite having set error-page for exception javax.servlet.ServletException, the exceptions are diverted to the error page that has been set up for http error code 500
The error page for ServletException is therefore never reached.
I have the browser set to request pages every time it is asked.
Once the servlet has thrown an IOException, the only way to get the browser to report an IO or Runtime exception error-page is to clear the browser cache. Restarting the server has no effect.
Once the servlet has responded with ANY exception, it is not possible to get it to report a ServletException (which is incorrectly reported as a 500 anyway) unless the cache is cleared. Restarting the server has no effect.
In the case where the servlet throws ServletException, it has no root exception. The servlet 2.3 spec states that if ServletException is thrown but cannot be found in the error pages, the root excpetion will be extracted and the error page list traversed again. Knowing that the RuntimeException error page is correct shown when RuntimeException is throwm, I have nested this inside the ServletException, however error page for http error 500 is still shown.
I don't believe this is a WLS 8.1 problem, as the console shows that the correct exception is thrown each time. this is backed up by the fact that the correct exception page is thrown when the cache is cleared regardless of what exception was previousdly thrown by the servlet. This excludes ServletException which is always incorrectly thrown as a 500.

Pages 09 on Mac and Pages 5 on iPad AAAAGHHHH!!!

I was away from home when Pages 5 came out and, rather naively, I installed it on my iPad. It was only when I got home today thatr I found out how genuinely useless to me Pages 5 is on the Mac. I had been used to minor problems in sharing beween Mac and iPad before. They were irritating. Now I can't share at all because Pages 5 reformats the damned file! Is there any way at all I can go back to the old Pages on my iPad?

So, since I do not have access to the new version of Pages for mac, there is absolutely nothing I can do? I am stuck with the incompatibility of Pages v2 on my iPad and Pages 09 on my Mac OSX 10.8.5.
I'm glad to see they gave Pages 5.0 for mac the ability to export to Pages 09, but why not for the ios version? Is exporting to Pages 09 format that much more complicated than exporting to .doc? Very, very frustrating. At this point, Pages for iOS is forcing me to use MS Word because it is more compatible with previous and current versions of Word than with Apple's own Pages 09.

I just downloaded the Pages app for my Iphone4 and I've already had the Pages app for my Macbook Pro and I want the documents (proposals for work) thats saved on my Mac to obviously be available on my phone through Pages. I've turn on the documents & data in both units in the iCloud. I thought the stuff would automatically be transfered. Id there something more I need to do?? And isn't iWork going away? not that I use it (well I did for 2 estimates/proposals) only. Someone please help I've read numerous threads and nothing works.

Apple has not updated the desktop versions of the iWork apps to use iCloud. Until they do you have to use iCloud.com in a web browser or iTunes to sync files. You could also try e-mail or DropBox.
No, iWork is not going away. The iWork.com (beta) service that was introduced with iWork '09 at Macworld in January, 2009, is going away.

I can't update my Pages'9 4.3 and its not compatible with newer versions???

I have had no problems with my Pages 4.3 which i installed a year ago, until the last month or 2. I have the app on my ipad but when i send pages docs from my ipad to my computer my computer tells me that i have an older version of pages and it wont open it, somethimes i can open but only view. I have Lion but cant pgrade my computer any further than that now since its an older machine now. So how can i work this on both? and why can i down load an application las year for it to be soo out of date that it doesnt function properly now?? realy fed up with appl about this, its causing me massive probems with my course work. I'm obviously now going to buy a whole new mac book to use pages. Any add ons or patches available for this combatibiluty issue? or anyone else have this problem?

IT could be that your iPad had upgraded to newer Pages or it can be that iCloud has. Send you documents through other channels like Dropbox or Mail

I too did the "important upgrade" today to Firefox 3.6.6 and now only get "untitled" pages. Operational buttons (back, refresh) are grayed out. Cannot access Internet via Firefox.
I did the Help for this issue deleting Firefox as a trusted program for Norton Internet Security 2010, then clicked my icon for Firefox, and there was no change.
I also changed a setting to "no proxy," then back again with no luck.

The permissions tab under page info is missing and page wont load
